Just pickpocket him for the Journal.

omg, i spent a couple weeks on this because i followed directions on another thread. more than one branch sticks out from the edge of the oracle glade. i went to the wrong branch about 20 times and waited for a few hours. the branch where i found him and competed the quest in about one minute was at 37, 24. the branch that doesn't spawn him is at 31, 29. maybe he spawns there for some people, or used to, because some people wrote to go to the north wall of the oracle glade and on your minimap it looks like a little section of the wall has been carved out, like there's a "V" in the wall. well, that's where i waited and got hung up for a couple weeks. the place where he spawned was down the wall to the east, and it didn't look like any "V" had been carved out on the minimap. also, it's hard to jump back into the game from that branch -- easy to get hung up. where he actually spawned, there's no danger of getting stuck outside the game. good luck.

i went to go turn in the quest and for some reason it says : Destiny calls failed: Duplicate item found....what should i do, it wont let me turn the quest in

I had troubles at first since, even stealthed, he knew I was there since he told me so. What I did to pass the quest was to wait for him to be preoccupied fighting someone else, then stealth up on him, pick his pocket, and take off.
