Bring those eggs to gadgetzan, there is a gnome that talks about eggs, beside him is a machine, place the egg in, get it in return with another able and give to the gnome for xp and reward, reward scaling on how good the egg is.

There are multiple eggs, in the nests in the hills south of the ogre compound/ruins.
Not sure the respawn timer, but i've never went there when at least one egg wasn't up.
You can only carry one at a time.

The amount of xp and the rewards you get for this quest depends on what type of egg you return :

Bad egg
100-500xp
Box of supplies - drink/food stuffs.

Ordinary egg
500-1000xp
Box of potions - random selection of potions.

Fine egg
1000-3000xp
Box of spells - buff scrolls

Extraordinary egg
3000xp-5000xp
Green item around lvl 40-50

Note: xp's are only rough guestimates from what I can remember.

I tend to call past and pick on up if I am in the area.

Just did this quest today, managed to get an extraordinary egg luckily.

At level 50 I got:

4200 xp + 1050 xp for doing the egg-o-matic portion first.

Reward was:

Box of Goodies and inside was about 10s and an Aquamarine.

Grabbed an egg in the first spot mentioned.

In case it wasn't stated before, you can only grab one at a time. My half dozen egg hunt dream was short lived.

i just turned in a fine egg and got no xp or faction i got a box of spells which had some scrolls in it was all

Iv'e found lots of those nests with eggs in them but why cant i pick them up ?

i just went all the way to feralas finally found the eggs but i cant pick them or do anything to them=\

i have no idea what the problem is

I am horde, and just last night I picked one up from ferelus. Havent tried turning it in but WE CAN pick them up.

I got an ordinary egg and received 100 rep w/ Darnassus for the machine and 10 rep w Darnassus for the NPC turn in.

You're looking for an egg in a nest, its south of the yeti's and in the corners usually behind the hude tree's. Horde CAN get the eggs, which leads to a series of other real...lame "quests" that involves getting various different type of eggs. But heres what it looks like

just did this , picked up the egg , looked up what its for , ran to gadgetzen & used the machine & got an egg crate with an "ordinary egg" , gave it to the gnome next to me & got a pumpkin , some moonberry juice & a superior healing potion as my rewards , plus a tiny bit of thunderbluff rep.

45 troll mage , tailor/enchanter

I have heard rumors that the quality of the egg you return depends on how long it takes you to get to Gadgetzan and tun it in. Not sure if this has any truth to it, but a good idea would be to set your hearth to Gadgetzan and hearth as soon as you get an egg.

Another few suggestions, because some of these last ones were rather vague...
A: Once you discover the hippogryph area, if you go on the map you will find a lake in the southwest corner of the area. Here, if you look upon the ledges and near the trees of the lake, you can find a few.
B:Go east from the lake mentioned in A, following the wall but not exactly hugging it. Eventually you will come to what looks like the behind of the Ruins of Isildien. Look south of the ruins and you will see a pathway/more ledges. Go up these ledges, and there will be around 4 eggs. Also, you can go to the west of this place, this time hug/jump along the wall, and you'll come across another 5 eggs when you look around the pathways/behind the trees. I hope that helped!

Horde can indeed do this quest also. I picked up the egg while and took a very long route back via Desolcae and still managed to pull an Extraordinary Egg out. Received 260 rep for Thunderbluff and 2500xp as a level 54.

There is no respawn times anymore, the eggs seem to more or less insta respaen

All these people wondering why the cant pick up eggs, ever think it might have something to do with your gadgetzan rep?

Does this hatch into a Hippogryph?

You can loot these eggs from nests in the hills behind the Hippogryph but unfortunatly you will recive no pet. At level 44 I gained 4200xp and my Darnassus rep increased by 100. Once you have compleated the quest you get a random egg which you can hand into Curgle Cranklehop.

You will get one of the following eggs;

An extraordinary Egg
A Fine Egg
An Ordinary Egg
A Bad Egg

I recived an Ordinary egg and handed it in which got me a supply creat containing some Moonberry Juice, three Moon Harvest Pumpkin and a reputation increase with Darnassus of 10 points.

This quest is delivered in tanaris and gives rep to either Gadgetzan or Darnassus, not sure.
No playful companion at least

For those who came here seeking what I was:

You can loot these eggs without collecting a quest or initializing anything in Tanaris.

As others have said the eggs are unique so you can only have one, you can click to loot a 2nd egg but you will get nothing and waste the egg spawn.

It also has no "timer" so you can take your time bringing it to Tanaris.
