Many people believe that all three OOX beacons are are more likely to drop off humanoids than other mob types. The drop rates are very low whatever the case, but don't seem to support that theory, at least for the Feralas beacon (of course, there aren't *that* many humanoids in Feralas). If you're farming for this beacon, it looks like the Woodpaw might be your best bet.

I received mine from the Tauren west of the Horde Camp. Had to kill about 12 of them, was questing for their horns at the same time =)

I've farmed for this item for far to long and can tell you all these drop rates are very inaccurate. I can say with confidence that Zapped Shore Striders DO NOT have a 50% drop rate of this item. Good luck to all who try to get this thing.

Take the distress beacon to Oglethorpe's homing robot in a cave near Feral Scar Vale.

The location is 53,55
i got 3900 xp

after this is going to run you back to the dock loc 45,40

there are 4 waves you have to deal with but i didnt find it that hard to do it came close on the last wave but i won.

When you look at drop rates you need to consider the number of mobs killed. A 50% drop rate cannot be relied upon when there are only 6 mobs killed calculating that rate. Look for the high number killed drop rates for better accuracy.

This appears to be the more rare of the 3 beacons, overall. It's not something you would notice on just one character, across multiple characters this is the one I've seen the least of.

Had to kill roughly 190 yetis for this to drop, Im a skinner and just counted the amount of stacks of leather I got. Took forever due to the fact that I was not alone there.

After 2 long days and nearly a full level from 47 to 48 of grinding mobs, I finally got the beacon from a Hatecrest Naga. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but when I first started grinding for the beacon I didn't have any quests in my quest log for Feralas. Yesterday I farmed mainly Gordunni and Woodpaw for about 5 hours in various places around Feralas with no luck. Then today I decided, might as well do the quests here since it can drop off of any mob. I picked up the Hatecrest Naga Scale quest from Feathermoon, and in about 45 minutes it dropped.

Good luck to anyone else looking for this beacon.

Once you start the escort quest, the beacon disappears from your pack. However, all is not lost if you fail the escort. All you have to do is delete the failed quest and go back into the cave. The chicken robot offers you the quest again.

This quest is clearly bugged - tried it 3 times now, every time with the same result:

As soon as you are near the bridge and the chicken says that "Danger imminent" crap, 3 apes spawn....and the quest fails instantly.
No warnings, no nothing - it just fails the very second the apes spawn!

What the hell, Blizz - why don't you properly test your goddamn quests? >:(

Edit: After looking into it, it seems one of two things will happen as the apes spawn:
1) The chicken will despawn instantly and you fail it instantly
2) The chicken will run past the apes and they will all aggro it, killing it in 10 seconds (and even if you manage to take aggro on all of them the chicken will just continue its run, leaving you behind with the apes, and the quest will fail)

All the chicken quests have had and seem to continue to have problems in Classic, including the last one I tried in the Hinterlands, where the chicken committed suicide two minutes into the quest. At least that was something I hadn't seen before. More often than not they are a source of massive agida, strange new curses and unexplained hair loss.

Have fun and just skip these. If you get one, you can't even give it to somebody you don't like because it's soulbound. Treat it the same way you would an angry, radioactive rattlesnake.

Took about two hours killing the nagas inside the cave but I finally got it

got it after a lil over 2 hours of farming nagas in the cage, or after 172 kills. got a few greens out of it and some pearls from the calms.
