The above text is how to obtain the The Mallet of Zul'Farrak (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=9240) which allows you to summon the boss Gahz'rilla (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/npc=7273). Note: Obtaining the Mallet is a very lengthy process.

Indeed it is, but then provides you with a very good chance to getting a spot in a Zul'Farrak party. Also without the mallet (only 1 in the group must have it) you cannot kill Gahz'rilla who is necessary to finish the quest "Gahz'rilla" (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=2770)

This is the hardest quest (and one of the longest) i have done so far. Level 51 Elite mobs to kill (100's it seems like) all for a freakin mallet to finish a ZF quest? This including the ZF instance takes many hours. But most likely its due to the fact we had a low level healer. But it still is ridiculously long quest..

If you didnt know this quest from readin zam/thottbott you find out about it from doing Zul'Farrak Instance (finding the ancient tablet). So after you are to the point where you can go no further in ZF you must trek to hinterlands, kill a troll to get the base mallet then go to a freakin HUGE temple. Work your way up to the altar (basically keep taking paths that lead up the fastest) only to find out it's not over yet! You must defeat more mobs a couple bosses adn then get a key to free some poor sacrificial virgin on the altar. Only then may you transmute the mallet....

Now go back to ZF do the whole dame thing over again use the mallet on the gong and summon Gahz'rilla.

All for a damn carrot....

The Mallet of Zul'Farrak

To create the Mallet of Zul'Farrak,
one must first travel to the Altar of
Zul and obtain the sacred mallet from
a troll Keeper

Next, one must bring the sacred mallet
to the altar atop of the troll city of
Jintha'alor

Using the sacred mallet at the altar
will infuse it with power, and
trasnform it into the Mallet of
Zul'Farrak
