ZAM Interview with Richard Knaak
21/04/2010 alle 19:18
Cody Bye, the Director of Content of ZAM, has just interviewed
, one of the most famous writers of novels and short stories for not only World of Warcraft, but a number of other fictional worlds. Knaak's "Blizzard" bibliography includes novels like
(the latest official Warcraft novel on the market), 3 standalone Diablo novels,
The Sin War
War of the Ancients
trilogy, as well as 2 standalone novels other than
. In addition to those, he has an impressive number of Dragonlance, Dragonrealm, Conan, individual novels... not to mention his short fiction pieces and the manga.
Sadly, this interview didn't quench my thirst for lore (could anything?), but it was an interesting read nonetheless. The interview is after the break!
Paladin Class Changes in Cataclysm
14/04/2010 alle 10:48
The inevitable clarifications have been added!
And, fellow paladins, our preview has finally arrived! We are getting 3 new very juicy abilities, one of which (Guardian of Ancient Kings) varies in effect depending on your spec! New healing spell, with a possibility for another one, AoE Blind, Blessing of Might and Blessing of Wisdom becoming a single Blessing (as I suggested some time ago, I dare point out)... but other than those big things, Blizzard doesn't feel ready to provide us with more information.
There is a lot of "we'd like to...", but I'll leave those to you :)
Gaming Can Make a Better World

Seeing that you have found this blog post, you have probably seen our last one as well -
Wowhead Interview on the Rawrcast
. I would like to bring to your attention a video that was posted on the

Catchy title, isn't it? Feel free to watch it there on the TED site, or you can view it here after the break.
Limited Attempts Explained
21/01/2010 alle 12:41
Rocca della Corona di Ghiaccio
progression moving closer and closer to
Re dei Lich
, we have seen the development of a not-exactly new feature, yet one that has caused quite a bit of confusion - the
limited attempts system
Restraint on boss attempts showed first in
and the one-hour timer on
. Apparently Blizzard liked the idea, because then we saw
Ordalia dei Crociati
, where players were given 50 attempts to clear the entire place - or the remaining bosses would despawn. Well, the Icecrown Citadel expands on ToC. Two weeks ago, when the Plagueworks opened, raids were given 10 attempts to kill its final boss -
Now, with the release of the Crimson Hall, those attempts have been increased to 15 - however another boss,
Regina del Sangue Lana'thel
shares them. In another 2 weeks, when the Frostwing Halls are open, players will get yet another 5 attempts, making the total of 20 shared between Putricide, Lana'thel,
, and the Lich King. Presumably the number of attempts will go up (I suspect by 5) every so often (I suspect every 2 weeks).
So, to sum up here's everything in a table (after the break).
Icecrown Citadel: The Lower Spire (Feedback Wanted)
09/12/2009 alle 01:20
Long time no see in the blog, eh Wowhead? I've been working on a few projects on the site (one of which you should see now, and one - soon) and my finals week coinciding with the new epic patch didn't exactly buff my free time. But it's mostly over now, and I should have enough time to post interesting stuff again! However for now you are stuck with the same old boring stuff - bosses :)
With the new patch out, I've made some tweaks to the boss pages. The coolest thing for me are the new tabbed abilities - now each difficulty has its own section, reflecting all the little things that make this difficulty level unique. I think that's pretty cool feature - and it looks really neat too! :)
The boss pages have the basic overview of the fights for the Lower Spire, but I have also included shorter versions of kind of "to go" tips here. And with this we get to the core question of this blog:
Do you think the overviews are sufficient/redundant, and if you could change something about the boss pages design, what would it be?
Please look at the list of bosses after the break and post your thoughts!
The Story of the Ashbringer
06/12/2009 alle 13:16
If there is one thing that really defines me as a WoW player, it's my admiration for the paladins and forces of the Light. This being said, I can't go away without mentioning one very special name: Alexandros Mograine, the
. I should probably toss Tirion Fordring in there too, but Mograine is the one I wanted to talk about today.
If you browse online WoW comics, there is one particular comic you might have noticed lately -
. It's a relatively new comic that I really enjoy - it's very entertaining, and the quality of the art is better than what you normally see in online comics. It's not updated as much as I would want, but I think it's normal to keep you wanting more and more of something you enjoy a lot. After all,
Looking for Group
is merely updated twice a week, and I think that's not often enough either ;)
Now, you're probably wondering how I am going to tie the Ashbringer and a young WoW comic. Rather simply: I am going to forward to you a blog entry fro

Well, now is probably your best chance to get that friend of yours or to start your own (second) account! Blizzard is launching special 3-day weekend discounts in the

New Warcraft Anniversary Mini Site!
23/11/2009 alle 23:08
I think it became pretty evident that World of Warcraft is turning 5 about now - we had publications, blue posts, blogs, ingame letters, non-combat pet, and even a feat of strength to tell us all that! What many of us didn't see was the other Blizzard's birthday - good old Warcraft is turning 15!
To celebrate those two events, Blizzard is launching a new
5-15 Year Anniversary Mini Site
, which features interviews with key Blizzard people, as well as a new Battlecry mosaic project where you can show off your faction pride -- unlocking content in the process!
Over the past five years, a lot has changed in Azeroth. Valiant heroes have travelled the length and breadth of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, taken wing in Outland to free the Black Temple from Illidan's clutches, and set sail for Northrend to battle the mighty Lich King. Whether you've been part of the adventure from the beginning or are just getting started now, we're glad to have you with us for the five-year anniversary of Wor
Tier 9 Compendium
19/11/2009 alle 03:58
Icecrown Citadel knocks on the door, Arthas is likely getting dressed like Santa, and a new Tier set is coming out. Looking at the names of the sets, they don't seem anything
- so I thought* it's probably a good idea to post some extensive explanation about the
Tier. Why? Because it is actually interesting from a Lore perspective.
Remember, back when Tier 9 was released, how a lot of people were excited about Alliance and Horde not only having different sets, but having those sets named after famous members of the respective faction and class? I don't know about you, but I was really excited to be a part of the lore on that level. And because of this inspiration, this blog was born - a compilation of relatively short summaries of all those heroes' and villains' stories. Read on!
*Not really. Read the note after the break.
Patch 3.3 Guide - Recent Updates
06/11/2009 alle 17:00
The reason for this out-of-the-blue blog are some recent updates to the
Patch 3.3 Guide
we released about 3 weeks ago. Several PTR builds have hit us since then, I have been updating the index page of the guide, and occasionally dropping a reply in the blog, but all of those have been somewhat subtle. So here is the official announcement of what has been updated and how it has been updated.
Note: We know we've been spamming you with blogs a lot lately, but this one had to be done. And better now than when Halls of Reflection, or some other major feature appears on the PTR. Blizzard has really made us work for this patch.
Create YOUR Own Wowhead Title!
05/11/2009 alle 12:34
That's right, folks, you saw it correct! You now get a chance to design your own title to be added to our pool of randomly generated witticisms you get to see every time you load the homepage!
You have asked for it, and we are giving it to you. There have been several threads on the forums, all of which asked us (nicely, of course) to add new sayings to our pool. We have read them all, but until recently time was just never enough to bother with something so small.
Well, we are as busy as ever, but this request of yours we can fulfill!
This is not a contest
, and there are no rewards beyond bragging rights. But think about how cool your friends will think you are when you go to them and say
"See that thing up there just after where it says "Wowhead: ..."? That's right, I gave them that idea!"
You would become a superstar in matter of seconds!
[Spoilers] The Fate of the Lich King
16/10/2009 alle 23:57
Do not read this blog if you do not wish to learn about spoilers!
So apparently some kind people found out what happens to the Lich King at the end. Or almost. If you follow the YouTube link at the beginning of my (short) blog, you will see an animation of him as he appears at the end of the Icecrown Citadel. I won't reveal anything about the animation in this section, but you can check it out and read a little about it after the break.
And just a few things before we start the comment-off - just facts we know as official Lore. Arthas and Ner'zhul do not exist as separate people/spirits/souls. There is only the Lich King. The LK shares his two "creators" memories and a small number of their emotions and goals, but that's it. Do not think of him as "Arthas" or "Ner'zhul", because the differences are more than the similarities. And if you go back to the Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne cinematic, where Arthas merges with Ner'zhul, you will notice that the "
Now we are one!
" phrase doesn't come until
