Welcome to our second edition of Wacky Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we highlight Classic WoW items with fun or very unusual effects. These items are not exactly vital to player progression, but obtaining them can be a fun side activity if you need something to distract yourself.
For this second edition, we are highlighting 3 low level items, in the spirit of the Classic beta capped at 30! For more information on everything Classic, be sure to check our

Hook of the Master Angler
Every Sunday, at 2pm server time, a Fishing Contest is held in
Stranglethorn Vale
. During this contest time, pools along the coast of Stranglethorn are replaced with pools of
Speckled Tastyfish
. If you're good at Fishing, and are the first to fish 40 Tastyfish, you become a
Master Angler
and can choose between two rewards -
Arcanite Fishing Pole
, the best Fishing Pole in the game (and used by Nat Pagle himself!), or the fun trinket
Hook of the Master Angler
.
The
Hook of the Master Angler
will turn you into a fish when used underwater! Like a fish, you will have underwater breathing and increased swim speed, making this item awesome for some underwater exploration. Attacking or casting spells will break your fish form, however, the trinket has
no cooldown
, allowing you to instantly return to your fishy adventures after defeating that pesky enemy. Under the sea, indeed!
Electromagnetic Gigaflux Reactivator
This stylish hat hailing from the irradiated halls of
Gnomeregan
has a pretty fun effect that can be used by pretty much anyone since it is a Cloth armor: Hurl a bolt of lightning on all the enemies in front of you, then surround yourself with an electric barrier that lasts 10 minutes!
You are able to get this helm from
Mekgineer Thermaplugg
, the final boss of Gnomeregan. The instance itself should be a challenge to pretty much any groups, thanks to the forced level cap of 30 on the current Classic beta servers. Note that this item requires level 32 to equip so you can't use it quite yet on the beta.
Dog Whistle
Looking for that extra help in combat? Why not rely on man's best friend? With the
Dog Whistle
, you can summon a tracking dog to protect you in battle for 10 minutes! The Tracking Hound will attack alongside you and serve as a faithful companion for that short amount of time.
This whistle can be looted from
Houndmaster Loksey
, the first boss in the Library wing of
Scarlet Monastery
. Be careful, though - The Whistle has a limited 3 charges, and once all charges are used, the item will disappear, and if you want another dog in your service, you will need to return to the Library and slay the Houndmaster once more.
