A friend I met online played, and when she came and visited me for the first time she brought WoW and installed it on my comp. I started a trial accout that same week, and my first char was a Female Tauren Hunter, still existing on lvl 19 <3With loads of IRL mates playing on another server, I quickly did a new char, a female nelf druid. I remember knowing nothing of it, I didn't even knew what class I chose when I chose it, I just thought the bear paw was a cool icon. With the help from my IRL mate I quickly went from a total noob to knowing almost everything ingame, from where you buy icecream in Nagrand and to doing Loremaster to achievement-whoring.I started out on PvP-servers, so I quickly became used to getting ganked. I don't remember the first time I met a horde ingame as ally.I am still playing and I'm in the midst of farming Coren Direbrew for the kodo and ram. :>Would I change something if I could go back? Yeah, there's some people I wish I hadn't become as good friends with as I became.
i recently quited because i had to focus harder on my school studiesas for the question why did i start wow....well since the WTLK came i was really a fan of the Warcraft: the frozen throne lore so thats how wow became one of my favourite games :)

Like 3 weeks before my 15th birthday i saw my friend playing and was like "wow, that seems really cool", about 1 week later my other friend lent me his discs so i could play on a private server.I liked it so i tried out the real thing with a 10 day free trial and fell in love with it. My friends didnt see me for a week after my birthday.
Former Runescaper, moved off it when some friends I knew in real life talked about how amazing WoW was, before that I bashed the game...then I played the trial and I was hooked.
My Aunt came to visit family from the next Province over, and was all super-stoked about this really nerdy sounding game, called World of Warcraft.Well, she was so super-stoked about buying me the game, the 'Burning Crusade', a pre-paid time card, a wireless router, and a wireless receiver, all so I could play, well, I just couldn't say No to her.So I go home with all this stuff, and have never played a Computer game that you had to install before. She left me with all this, and the words, "Go to Silvermoon. Roll Horde."Few hours later, I've got WoW installed, my own account created, and my new router & receiver hooked up. Oh, %^&*, wait, I forgot to install The Burning Crusade. Exit, install Expansion...Several hours later, I've got Silvermoon (US) selected, and am browsing over the Horde races.Narrowed down my choices to Undead Rogue (Zombie Ninja what!), and Blood Elf Paladin (Closest I'd played to WoW before this, was Champions of Norrath for PS2, and I made a connection between Paladin & Cleric), but eventually settled on the Paladin.Another half hour later trying to find a name that wasn't taken, I typed in "Thyce", clicked Create Character, and finally Enter World...
My wow experience began when a friend lent me his level 60 warlock while he was away for a month...so i played, raided and had a lot of fun. When he came back he took the character away form me and i went to play Warcraft 3. One day while waiting for players for a DotA Match we were talking about WoW and somebody mentioned privates...so i started playing again and now i play using a friend's account he barely uses(but pays anyway)
I picked up WoW about 18 months ago.It scares me to think what would have happened to my life if I had begun playing earlier (like when it was released). I likely would not have left home; would have played all. the. time.I first rolled a human rogue, discovered talent points at level 16, used to just run around killing animals and stuff. Then I came to my senses and rolled a troll... :D*Edit*Sadly, I have no friends that play WoW. Which sucks real bad. I have nobody to share the lols with! The best I can do is sit next to a fellow WoW player at the internet cafe.
I have two persons to blame: Mr. T and Verne Troyer. I read about WoW for YEARS, but never went into the game until I saw two commercials in Youtube. So I went in to see Night Elf Mohawks, and really liked things as the simple models, and seamless transitions between maps.
Awesome thread! So my story is the following... ... First of all, I had seen a general idea of Warcraft from DotA ( Lore, etc ) but never had heard about the MMORPG. Then, one day, I went to the net cafe with my brother. There, we saw a good friend and neighbour of ours playing a blue-ish tall girl with long ears killing raptors. My brother found it awesome but since I didn't pay attention, I said " That sucks... Let's leave now please..". Oh yeah, and it was not in WotLK, it was pre-TBC. Little did I know that day that I would be killing these same sucky raptors a month later... With the end of the school year of 2005, my brother called me saying that he bought the World of Warcraft. Still then, I did not get excited... Anyway, I met him to the net cafe in order to discuss about what class we should choose. I said no to all melee ( I still say no to them, even with my alt druid I play resto/balance ^^). We decided that he would make a mage and me a warlock, saying that locks are really good from what he heard about them. In the end, we leveled up the mage, reached 60, killed Onyxia and Ragnaros and boom TBC released.... Karazhan....TK....BT....SwP, Kil'jaeden Realm 4! ( Awesome TBC days ) . . . I can say that still my mage is my favorite and the only one character that I don't get bored with. Lock 80 as well.... I wish my feelings about WoW could be the same but I don't feel the same as I did when I discovered the pyroblast spell or the awesome Illidan fight.... I hope Cataclysm will bring back those feelings... xD
