That's so true.

Yes, The tool to assign groups to a tank is very useful indeed.
I thought this was a scam post for a moment =O
They'd have to do more than give me free gear before I'd resort to using that horrible in-game voice chat again. I'm not surprised it's actually worse currently in Starcraft 2.
Oh yea totally forgot about that in game voice. They really should improve that to more the quality of Ventrilo. The plus' of using the in game voice is you dont have to worry about people taking crap or people spamming the vent, because blizzard will keep track and ban those people. I see a lot of potential for the in game voice if it was just better quality sound.
It's the truth, for casual players like myself (only seen the insides of ICC once) the emblem system is great. If you know how to play your toons but have crappy gear (instance blues) no one will even give you a shot in a pug or pick you up in a raiding guild to help you gear up. I pug all my raids in my own time (rotating work schedule) and the emblem system and especially the new lfg tool makes it so I dont fall behind and I can stay on par with the hardcore raiders.
What made the new LFG work so well is not simply because of the EoF tease, it's the cross-realm dungeon groups itself. Getting a group is A LOT faster than it used to be. Implementing cross-realm Dungeons like they did cross-realm BGs a long time ago has once again changed the game.
Wow, I can't believe I never quite thought of it like that, great article.
I still wouldn't use the in-game voice, it's terrible. Now, if they expanded upon it by, say, improving sound quality, and making a guild voice channel, maybe then. MAYBE I would use it. I'd probably still prefer Ventrilo, though.
Great article! And I agree--people go where the loot is at. If it's good stuff and relatively easy to grind out and get, so much the better. And no, I would never use the in-game voice chat...Ventrilo is so much better! When I was leveling my very first couple of characters, I flat-out refused to do any PVP--I didn't want to battle other people while I was still learning how to play because I knew I'd just lose over and over again, get frustrated/POed, and just quit. I wanted to battle the environment, where I stood a chance to winning and getting XP and loot. I also didn't want to get all stressed out looking over my shoulder all the time, dreading a rogue attack. So I play on a PVE server where I can pick my fights. In fact, I was so adamant about not doing any PVP, I didn't actually start doing it until I was about half way through 77 and WotLK was poised to come out. THEN it hit me that I'd never get into any "end-game" raids or serious dungeon running groups if I didn't find me some better gear--so I allowed myself to finally be coerced into joining a loooooong string of Alterac BGs one weekend and watched with much glee as the experience and honor came rolling in. Soon enough, I was in a full set of PVP gear that far outweighed anything I had from quests and drops--and then I set my sights on Wintergrasp and the weekly quests. THAT was how I got to 80--I went to where I knew I could get the gear without having to be continually disappointed by random blue/purple drops. It's also how I got my foot in the door to a raiding guild.I wish the frost badges per the first random heroic were more, but I'm still pleased with being able to earn my gear. I mean, yeah, it's great that you can go into a dungeon, kill a bunch of somethings and maybe get an awesome purple, but that's all just luck, and I have both crappy and poorly timed luck--I almost never get the drops that I need when I need them and when I get the ones that I should have had, it's already far and away too late to bother keeping them.
People will always follow the purples. Not matter what happens they will follow the purples. If you make it easy to get them, then they will come. But i do love the new dungeon tool. Used to take sometimes hours to find groups now it takes only sometimes at length 20 min. I love it. The badges and free buff are just bonuses.
