As always, we appreciate the interest in Blizzard's current and upcoming games, but we don't comment on rumors or speculation and we don't have any new announcements to make. Right now we're fully focused on the upcoming launch of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, and we're very much looking forward to celebrating that event with players around the world starting on Dec. 7.

Team LiquidContent AnalysisPast "Predictions"

Battle.net v2.0: "Predicted" for Q3. This was released in March, toward the end of Q1.

Starcraft 2: "Predicted" for Q3. This was released July 27th, during Q3.

WoW Mobile: "Predicted" for Q2. This was released in July, shortly after Q2 ended.

Cataclysm: "Predicted" for Q4. This will be released on December 7th, during Q4.

Blizzard, like any other software development company, isn't always 100% dead-on with their estimates.

Someone went through the trouble of adjusting actual release dates when they created this document to give it "credibility."

Blizzard has been averaging about 2 years per expansion at this point.
Classic: November 23, 2004

BC: January 16, 2007 (2 years, 2 months)

Wrath: November 13, 2008 (1 year, 10 months)

Cataclysm: December 7, 2010 (2 years, 1 month)

SC 2 Beta: Blizzard originally started accepting opt-ins in 2009, but opened SC2 for beta testing in February of 2010.

Launch Date: In May, Blizzard announced that the release date for SC 2 would be July 27th.

With what I've heard Blizz wants to make Cataclysm run faster then Wrath (as far as end game raid content) so the 1.5 year span could make sense. They will need to get content out a lot faster.

A lot of players think (and pray - given our not-so-good broadband infrastructure and sometimes high latency) they're going to release local servers, but some (myself included) believe it's only a localized version in pt_BR and probably some official merchandise (from blizzstore) and gamecards sold in local currency.
