Releasing a flying mount with the CE... and then never allowing flight in the expansion... great idea.
I still haven't even played any of Nagrand, so I hope there will be more patches, as opposed to another expansion.
I forsee a massive backlash at the no flying. Personally I'm fine with either or, but I can see how it does bother and upset people. The amount of gold spent on flying, whether it's mounts or the ability itself, have been a decent sum and for some people that could feel like a waste. All I want is Blizz to handle this in the best possible way, but I know that is a far-fetched dream.
Blizzard logic, "we're gonna take flying away because it makes it so there are less people in cities" and they give us a garrison that is basically an instanced city... I'm sorry but I don't get this....
What? No flying? Its the most epic thing in this mmorpg, open world, you can fly and do whatever you want. Even now its looking silly that my gryphon can fly in whole outlands, northlands, etc.. and can't in draenor.. so what? My gryphon lost the ability to flap? xD
So flying mounts and druid flight form will just be pretty ground-flappers?
well there goes 5 of my friends that won't *ever* be returning to WoW if they keep to the no flying, With flying added in FFXIV I might just jump ship with them.
Ha, Blizz mods are already deleteing posts about flying.
I am a very sad panda with the news about the lack of flight forever :(I'm gonna miss a lot my frostbrood wyrm.At least now we know. This whole "will they, or wont they" was driving me nuts. Just a straight answer, even if not the one I was hoping to hear, was all I was asking since the start of this whole no-flight nightmare.I guess the only reason I'll stay on the game is because of my friends, but not because I derive enjoyment in the game anymore.
I can't help but notice how many rude comments are being made by people who are anti-flying. If that's the kind of players that will be around during the next expansion then I really don't have any reason to maintain my subscription...
I get their arguments for no flying, I really do. But, it has become an integral part of this game's core, especially with how many flying mounts they have and continue to make. Shutting the door on that now after so many years just doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
I've been leveling the archaeology on my alts, so I can work on the... what's it called, the Egyptian cat-centaur race?Anyway, while doing it, I noticed how often the surveying tool sent me from one ledge to another, or across a barrier. It was so fun to just hop on my mount, fly down or over, and then survey again... and again... and again.I don't know what the archaeology dig sites are like for WoD, but if I have to do archaeology without flying, I'm not going to keep doing it going forward. And archaeology is pretty much the only thing that has been getting me out of my garrison.Honestly, if the content going forward is as uninteresting to me as WoD has been, I'm probably just going to stick around long enough to get the three heirloom rings, then only sub again when I feel like leveling a lowbie alt. I have all the heirlooms (except for the brawler fist weapon and the Alliance PvP trinket) up to level 90, and that's about where I'd stop doing content.
Bait and Switch? One of the things we got for buying the digital deluxe edition was a flying mount, they just put another flying mount in the shop.. (I bet they wish Ion had waited a few days to make this announcement so sales of it wouldn't tank). No I won't ragequit over this but it is making me think about whether I wish to continue investing 30 plus Hours per week on it. No we were never promised flying in WoD; but early on we were led to believe it "likely" to be and I'm not happy at all, even moreso to hear this will continue into future expansions.Of all the toons I have leveled or are leveling there are some high points along the way:1) Yay I can get a mount and ride!2) Yes! I can finally FLY :) (Followed by 10-15 minutes of flying around whatever zone I was questing in)3) Finally.. Made it through enough of Pandaria to be able to FLY again (also followed by some time enjoying it)Having some toons with engineering I've loved what I've see from above in WoD and it's a shame I'll never be able to share those sights with my wife with her on a two person mount. :( I finally freed up enough gold to buy Vial of the Sands and now it seems somewhat wasted; the Mekgineers Chopper however will see a lot more use. Be interesting to see what this does to the AH values of 2p flying mounts Vs 2p ground mounts.
For 8 years, I've stood by Blizzard and their decisions. For 8 years, I trusted them to make the right decision. But this? This is what caused me to find a torch and pitchfork. They reverse this decision, or they'll watch WoW burn.
Hmmm.... Maybe it's time to go back to Pandaria and farm cloth and Harmonies for bag making....
No flying ever again? I've been playing since BC. I've just uninstalled the game and won't log in again. They're doing this because their future expansions will be small (compared to previous expansions) and this is a way to make them feel longer without putting in more content. On the upside, I have ESO to give money to.
