After our earlier tweet, we are working on a hotfix so that the Coldlight Surfrunner can drop when ANY murloc type is present on an Island Expedition. Furthermore, we're simplifying this entire system in Tides of Vengeance. More details on that soon. https://t.co/JpWmdO8NnC— WarcraftDevs (@WarcraftDevs) November 21, 2018

There are different Murloc tribes in Azeroth, and so far, the kind of Murlocs that could drop Coldlight Surfrunner have not appeared on Island Expeditions. https://t.co/Fg0sOn2I2J— WarcraftDevs (@WarcraftDevs) November 20, 2018

this could be good, but islands are only a singularity in the myriad of problems this expansion has.
I look forward to seeing what they've come up with after months of feedback and bug reports. This reward structure might have worked in content where there weren't 320 rewards to collect.
The Island Expeditions drop system is the most flawed reward system in the game.Take the Craghorn Leaper mount for example. In order to have a chance to get this mount, you need to overcome several rng chances. First, there needs to be Dread Chain active that week, second, you need to actually get Dread Chain selected from the three random islands, third, yeti enemies have to spawn, fourth, among those yetis, a yeti Rare has to spawn, fifth, you need to find and kill it before the enemy faction does and sixth - you just earned yourself a 1%chance to get it.That's rng layered on top of rng. That's NOT an interactive system at all.
The schedule given for Island Expedition invasions is already all out .. you think we get follow up?
Follow up for what? As you said, all the invasions are active now.For some reason people thought that schedule was saying this week X will be the invasion, but that's not what it meant. It meant starting X week, Y invasion is a random possibility. Before the weeks on the schedule you could not get those invasions. Now the chance to get any specific invasion is lower than it was three weeks into the expansion.
IE's are not fun, i've had about equal chance to get stuff on normal vs heroic so why do heroic? If its barely a better chance even on mythic then normal is the way to go.what we know now is its RNG in various elements, that your desired item has the required mobs to drop said item and then RNG on it dropping from the loot table. This kinda thing may appealed to players 10 years ago, today not so much. People are less patient and less willing to chase a carrot - we are older and don't care for this as much as we may have in the past.however hopefully this change makes it more fun.
It's simple I'm Here for the Pets 😀
It's strange that blizz would withhold information regarding loot from anything (other than secrets of course). We get lots of info on loot and drop % from the all the xpaks beforehand, but they refuse to give us that same info for Island Expeditions other than what types have a chance of dropping loot. I am a little perturbed.
IE not interesting at all...Off the topic, but are there any class changes in the recent build datamined this week? That's the stuff I wanna know, not certain murloc drops a pet in IE thing.
You are so much right about this. I really wish dev's read this comment and realise how stupid this so called system is.
I'm trying to get a chest piece from Dragonrider chest for my hunter. I need Black or Twilight Dragon invasion for that, kill as many rares as possible and hope for the best. Also hope that my team would be up for killing rares that can grant some loot, not just grabbing as many azerite as possible and killing the opposite faction. At least I believe that's how it works.I'd love an easier and more transparent way to target transmog/pets/mounts/whatever.
There's very little consistency to islands. My best loot haul ever came from doing a normal, picked up 2 pets and a quest item.Meanwhile, I do heroic after heroic and nothing but azerite.
They probably see that most players don't do islands at all
Yeah, I only wanted the pets from Island Expeditions. When they first came out, I heard of people doing one-to-three hundred runs and only getting a single pet. I did five runs and got frustrated. Definitely not participating in this until after 8.1.
