Raid does not come out until January, not with patch day
IN THE PTR, a lot of recipes ( like enchanting and alchemy ) have reduced mats a lvl 3, for example Tonico degli Abissi Infiniti requires 3 x Alga d'Ancora, down from 5 anchor weed.
AZEROTH PATHFINDER will be actived, no flying yet though
New crafted BoE recipes require Contrassegno d'Onore to acquire, you need rank 3 in the craft to try to be competitive (2 marks for rank 2, 4 marks for rank 3)
If someone has hundreds of Sanguicella they are hardcore raiders and have food and flask covered, so don't expect a strong raise in price for food flask and potions
People have very very low gold income so don't expect sell commodities easier ( mounts trasmog etc )
Each crafting profession gets a new spell to transform Sanguicella in the next tier mat, also for Idronucleo, so expect that a lot of people craft their own BoP pieces which might not raise mats cost since everyone generally has their own and most of them are BoP
The new Azerite armor vendor comes in 8.1, people will expend a moderate amount of gold in reforging and the grind for the Azerite tokens
NO new enchants NO new consumables besides Sanguicella potion and feast, the top tier gear is BoP
The new crafted gear ilvl is 340, the old gear WILL NOT AUTO UPGRADE

/u/Ackilles is a bit apprehensive on the amount of players returning for the patchThat's quite the stockpile! I'm sitting on about 6 mill worth of bfa inventory but yours puts me to shame. I'll be honest, your stockpile would make me a bit nervous though. That is a lot of materials for some of those categories and we have over a month until we see an uptick in raid related demand. Most of your stock is situated to take advantage of the potential influx of alts, which is good...but personally I think 8.1 and the later raid release wont bring back nearly the population it normally does. People are mad at blizzard every expansion, but this time feels different.

The only addition I'd make to your stockpile would be feast (minus salmon) and new personal food mats. Now that you've decided how much profit you're going to try to make, given the amount of time you have available we can identify the rate of gold per time played you need to achieve. Again, this helps point towards certain methods and away from others. When you can play becomes very important as well. If you're a weekend warrior, then something requiring day to day cancel-scans like enchanting or alchemy might not be good. If you have a lot of hours to play, farming raw mats might be the simplest, for example.
What is my risk allowance?

Understanding how much you are willing to risk is a big deal as it allows you to invest confidently and without hesitation. Setting a "Zero Dollar Mark," or an amount of capital you won't spend, gives you a safety net when you make a mistake - which will inevitably happen. Even Babe Ruth couldn’t hit a homer every time. My limit is 1,000,000 gold, so I can flip my way back up if need be.

Things like farming raw mats and transmog carry almost no risk and offer a relatively moderate but steady payoff, while things like crafting or flipping BOEs can be more profitable but require a bigger investment and carry substantially more risk, as your auctions may fail to sell.What kind of content do I like to play?

Personally, I hate farming nodes at this point. Movie on the background, music, doesn’t matter. I don’t want to do it, so farming is not for me.

If you love old dungeons and raids, transmog might be for you. Like to AFK while watching YouTube? Node farming (herbalism, mining, etc.) or old world hyperspawn farms could be your route. Have a good guild with decent progression? Boosting might be your angle. Do you like to mostly play solo and make stuff? Crafting. Enjoy hopping between servers exploring markets? Try pet arbitrage.How many licenses and alts/max level toons/etc. do I have?

This makes a difference in the sense that if you have a second license, cancel-scan-based gold making is more viable, as is sniping. Multiboxing is a very effective way to make gold as a solo player. On the other hand, if you have only one account and actually like to play your characters, then choosing something with less upkeep might suit you more.How much gold do I have to invest?
This is pretty straightforward - if you have no gold then start with gathering professions, transmog farming, 2x4 farming, or other similar farming-based methods. At 50k to 100k you can start flipping mats or small items.

For getting into pet arbitrage or crafting on a large scale, I would recommend a million plus gold at the least. You need to be able to have that kind of gold because you'll have to spend a lot to make a lot, and sale rates may not be consistent.What kind of server do I play on?

If your server is mostly the other faction, it won’t affect your AH (as all auction houses are now neutral) but will affect your ability to sell things in trade chat.

High-population realms have the overall most potential for gold, but they also come with the most competition and often the lowest unit price. They require attentive scanning and more focus on individual markets.
Low-population realms generally offer higher prices and the ability to control certain markets more effectively, but they also suffer from a lower volume of sales.
Medium-population realms will have varying amounts of a mix of these attributes.

Checking sites like Undermine Journal for the top sellers on your realm, checking your realm pop, and doing some quick scans will give you an idea of your realm's health, saturated markets, and possible niches. At Undermine Journal, selecting your server will populate a list of items to look at. A quick glance at the top sellers list on the left will show you their inventory, and you can see what they are posting and for how much. TUJ contains a lot of information including when your competitors post, and I suggest becoming familiar with it.Once you have answered these questions you should be able to narrow your choices down to something that suits both your needs and requirements. Gold-making is a journey, and if your goal is to be among the richest in WOW it is likely best to at least dabble in all available markets.What questions did you ask yourself when starting out with gold-making? I hate to break to anyone who has fantasies of us all being a goblin collective. I mean we are, but we aren't. Right? I want you to do good. Of course I do! But what I really want is for me to do better.

With that out of the way, I notice this huge trend of trade chat bullying, and accusing people of being bots any time they cut into markets that a goblin doesn't want to share. Even here on reddit, accusations of botting happen all the time.

There are goblins multiboxing and farming and working very hard to accomplish some of the things you think could only be possible via botting. There are goblins who dump loads of mats on the AH purposely; with a plan, even. There are goblins who play with markets just for fun. Pure profit sometimes does get dull.

So, what I would suggest is the next time you get angry, and emotional, because the AH and the markets you think you own aren't staying the way you want them to, think twice about accusing people of botting.

These guys will just post something once, then go back to doing something else. Small undercut - ignore and keep posting. Large undercut - snatch it up quick, relist.

Low volume, small undercut:

Low volume, large undercut (2-5 posted):

These guys can be a bit dangerous if you don’t know all your competitors. If you know they’re not going to relist, or if you /who them, and they’re off doing other things, grab them. If not, either test them as a competitor and buy them up to see if they list more, or just accept the price drop.

Medium volume, small undercut:

These posters can generally be ignored. Sometimes you can cooperate with them to do resets, just ask.

Medium/High volume, large undercuts:

These posters are one of the most frustrating to deal with. Every time they see you undercut they drop the price a significant amount. They can sometimes start out with small undercuts then graduate to larger once in a futile effort to push you out. Substantially reduced profit for everyone involved. It generally hurts them more than you if you play the AH more. There can be rare opportunities during back and forth postings if/when they cancel everything to cancel your own and relist at whatever the price was before the back and forth started. Cancel your own intermediate posts more often to make a quick pull and bump faster if this happens. If a third poster gets involved it can lock prices lower without much opportunity to reset or bump prices. My strategy (RISK INVOLVED if you have less gold than them) is basically: be relentless, if they’re reckless enough to push into profit loss territory follow them and stick with it till they log, then pull out of that market temporarily until prices rise again. If they continue the strategy over time (weeks+) move into any market they post in as much as possible any time they’re around. Send the message that it’s self-destructive for them to try and push you out. Some still won't learn, though.

High volume, small undercuts:

YOU. Another "you" can get dull and repetitive quick. Make sure you’ve got Netflix or a stream to watch on a second monitor. If you’ve got a properly set up TSM, at worst you’ll be splitting sales with them evenly. Stick with it, first one out loses. I’ve only met 2 other posters who ever had the tenacity to go head to head with me for more than a week. I got hooked on making gold in Wrath and since then I've been always really focused on having a ton of gold to spend on stuff I want, but this expansion I can't be bothered... My millions are slowly being depleted because I don't even feel the need to keep my gold anymore. They did that because they buffed the drop rate on live, so the nerf to 3x was no longer needed.Commento di fenixzthe state of the economy is clearly a reflect of the state of wow in BFA, slow, almost static, there is no player base to move the economy even if your farm till your eyes bleed if no one buys, the hard work not being translated into gold, its clear that the supply is not the problem is the demand that is not there, meaning there is a low population in wow atm. i don't really see any change in 8.1, we will see returning players for sure with the token vendor, which will make getting gear easier attracting more players, casuals and hardcore, i only see a demand on goods for raid (potions, fask, food , and their mats) this will take effect once the raid drops and it will last as long as this raid appeals to the playersCommento di TauroidI have a TSM question: I use the default settings and some items like Legion Mats are always selling for less than my minimum, so I have a manually change prices if I want to sell them on the AH.
