My gold making methods are detailed in my blog. But I have watched HazlNutty's videos, and do a few things. Gold missions. Herbing and Mining and selling the mats. I also watch out for the 2K emissary on my 7 120s, and also do some gold World Quests. I don't do Island Expeditions because I find them such a bore, and never get anything good from them.
Oftentimes alchemy is not counting on profit from a single pot. Many at rank 3 proc multiple pots, and if you get lucky you can get quite a few for the cost of 1 pot - which is when profit begins happening.
TSM 4 is garbage. Still bug ridden. I have tried it several times and each time went back to auctioneer. You would think after all this time they could fix the problems.
i'm a super casual gold maker and ever since blizz changed their AH behaviour to double, triple, quadruple, quintuple check all postings i can't stand it. I understand the reasoning and support it. (to stop dupers) but it has killed the fun in posting tons of items which now take me forever and freeze my game. i don't want to spread misinformation, but this is what i learned when most poeple would quickly jump to blame TSM4 because i believe it happend at the exact same time. (the release of tsm4 plus blizzard ah changes) people were blaming tsm4 for it and tried deseperately to manually patch tsm3 to keep using it cuz it was "faster". but someone here or on reddit explained that wasn't it. that blizz changed their ah behaviour to confirm a posting server-side rather than client-side to combat dupers. if i am wrong in this info, plz correct me. so as i said, i fully support blizz in their fight against dupers, but the side-effect of freezing my screen and posting thousands of items taking me much longer now has been very frustrating sucked the fun out of gold making for me. but there are times when i'd like to go back to tsm3 just to see if i get any improvements. :-/
On opportunity cost: Everything has an opportunity cost which means that there is no such thing as a free lunch. What was outline here, "By crafting a flask with the herbs you lose the opportunity to sell the herbs at a higher price and therefore don't make as much profit." is more profit maximizing theory than opportunity cost.An example of opportunity cost is the time spent per item, let's say 5 minutes of crafting, for a 10g profit flask or potion. That 5 minutes, the cost, could be spent doing a WQ or crafting a different item or items worth more than 10g.This is why smaller profitable items (e.g. bags with a 1g profit) aren't done by the higher gold goblins due to the opportunity cost of time and they'd rather focus on larger profitable items with the same amount of time required to do it.Plus, on an absolute scale, many of us vendor gray junk for 10g to 35g making the smaller profit items a bad spend of time.
As for TSM Operations, with playing mainly crafting markets I personally don't like relying on fluctuating values like dbmarket etc. Having set specific buying prices for mats and specific selling costs for those mats and crafts feels better as in having more control over the profit margin for me.I'd love to get into the BoE market as well, but it seems too time consuming to compete since at least on my server there are already several committed flippers reposting and offering items in trade 24/7.
Dammn you goldmakers. You are the reason why this games economy has become so %^&*ed up. While you sit in your millions, normal players can't buy anything in the game anymore because the pricing got so #$%^ing riddiculous
I'm still using TSM3. Not because I'm stuck doing things the OLD way, it's because everything is broken or still bugged. If all you use TSM4 for is posting and shopping, most are OK. But... if you use mailing, warehousing, saved shopping lists, Auctionneer, Auctionator, etc... it's just a convoluted mess. I don't want to be negative.. I want the TSM team to come out with another great version of TSM. TSM4 is just not going to be it.
