From the moment these new mounts were "announced" they had a niche flavour to me, being there, available to those who would want to complement a specific character fantasy/transmog. It seems they are specifically not "just" collectibles like most mounts seem to end up as. The high cost may therefore be a great measure to ensure it stays that way. As for the A-Z goldmaking, I have selled arcane Crystals and was initially shook at the current prices on the AH. It seems the legacy weapons/armor that require arcanite bars are one explanation for the inflated price, which seems reasonable. Needless to say the arcanite bars themselves are sold at premiums at well, at least on the realms on which I play.
How do you feel about starting over with professions in 8.2? Would you prefer to keep what you have now and get different recipes/mechanics to empower your crafted products? Do you have enough gold to buy all of the new vendor mounts in 8.2?I personally hate these resets and it seems to cater a certain audience. Before you had to really invest into a profession but you would be able to reap great rewards. Now with the resets all this investment is gone and you can start over. The more resets they do, the less inclined you are to keep investing resources into it.Gold has not been an issue since vanilla and as a mount collector I generally try to buy them all. However, with Blizzard producing these zero effort or reskins just to get gold out of the economy, I more and more feel that I no longer should burn gold on them. This started with the frog mounts, which look awesome but having to spend another 666k to get the other colours just feels bad.
I feel that blizzards decision to make previous profession items obsolete created an incentive for people to not play WoW continuously from the start of the expansion through to the end. Instead, it's better now to play at the start or shortly after launch when they iron out some things, then return at the end of the expansion when all of the content is available. Expensive vendor mounts also do not sit well with me, there should be multiple ways to get those types of mounts in addition to buying them with gold (which now is just using wow tokens to get there), such as a rep grind or obscure quest line.
Have you been farming eggs? Have you ever invested in holiday items to resell in the future, how did it work out?Well when the Legion launch event was going on I spent a ton of nethershards on the fel bat pup thinking that vendor wouldn't be there after the launch. I was wrong. I now have 14 fel bat pups hanging out in storage. Suppose I could sell them now that its been a few years.....
Farming eggs is nothing i have done so far. There are enough people in my guild to supply us with materials and gold for raids and i prefer to do dungeons instead.
I've held a few holiday pets to sell before. It's a great idea, but as with all things goldmaking, its never a guarantee goldmine, nor is it quick. This did give me a couple of ideas for future goldmaking tho, thanks!
Recently, I caught myself thinking that all the gold I am getting from paragons and wqs, I am spending on consumables. Even considering grinding herbs for my alchemy. Not to mention any selling or making gold on alchemy. Things are much worse than in a legion(Blood of Sargeras) and new alchemical recipes will not help this at all. If they do not introduce any new sources of ingredients for crafting or increase proc chance.
Sold the noblegarden mount last october for around 80k :)
How do you feel about starting over with professions in 8.2? Would you prefer to keep what you have now and get different recipes/mechanics to empower your crafted products? Do you have enough gold to buy all of the new vendor mounts in 8.2?I don't mind starting over, it's a nice change of pace. Having enough gold to buy all the new vendor mounts are a different story though, but that's also enjoyable. It's not fun if it's just a "free" handout to all players, we should have to work to get things in the game, otherwise everything has been done after just a few weeks.
I understand wanting to make gold in game to buy the cool stuff and it just makes things easier. However gold making has become a detriment to the game in my opinion. The economy is not based on anything close to a true supply and demand vs income structure. So this causes unrealistic inflation on even the most mundane of items. But as with all the rest of the lemmings, we all will continue to hoard our gold, use TSM and hope our Candela dei Coboldi will sell without too much of an undercut
I wish I could say I have enought pleasure in buying all these mounts. I think their price is not appropriate for their look(?). I mean, they're just neither unique nor cool (except Longboi). I bought only the Voldunai mount, 'cause I think this hyena is enough unique and I really like it.If I had to say something about professions, I would say I'll really appreciate that if Blizzard would make something like "upgrading" our recipes. Maybe something like giving us a recipes that would replace current ones. The rank of our "skill in making exactly this thing" would be same as it was, but the reagents would change or there would be some additional ones. It's not the perfect idea, but I think it's a good way to solve a problem with "outdated" potions/flasks and there are lots of ways to bring it in smoothly, e.g. a questline that would tell us something like "We have found new herbs in Nazjatar. That would be nice if you could bring some to us and we'll see what's happen if we add them to our recipes." And then we will find out that Nazjatar herbs improve our potions and flasks. The outdated flasks we would have would be improved by adding new reagents into them. It would be nice, 'cause no one would lose any gold and everyone would be happy.
I'm gonna stay Herb/Alchemist cause everything else takes too much time or gold. I also don't get the point in these gazilion gold costing mounts. If you don't boost with Gallywix and play 24/7 you can't afford flasks and potions, or even think about any of the expensive mounts.. But whatever.
I'd rather they give us something to impower the crafting profs we already have.
I've farmed and sold things from several holiday events but haven't had amazing luck with it, the demand sometimes never comes up again until the next year. I quite like the A-Z of farming posts, seems interesting and might highlight some less than obvious ways of farming gold. I appreciate it.
I farmed eggs a couple times to get the transmog pieces I didn't have . There were all the purple bunnies everywhere! camping all the eggs lol
Can't believe they're trying to sell reskin mounts like Redini del Predapalude Catturato for 90k. In draenor that would have been nothing, now it's insane. Especially for a mount that's the exact same model as the other rep mount from Zandalari which is only 10k. I don't need a gold one that badly...
I have dedicated alts for most profession combos I'm interested, so I hardly think any of them is going to have their professions swapped just because of what might come in 8.2. It's just a matter of progressing them enough to be of use both in professions and pve.
I kind of skipped professions so it's nice to get started again with them. Vendor mounts though... No way I have enough gold.
Have to chip in with my 2 copper on the mount gold sink:Inflating the price of mounts is acceptable if they're actually worth it (i.e. as mentioned, unique models/ utility). A lazy recolor/ reskin? Ehh. It's almost an insult to the player population that they think we'd fall over and throw gold at that.
I remember farming for Cristallo Arcanos when I was making my Martello di Sulfuron. I was circling around (old) Silithus, most people don't come there to farm Thorium so the competition is low and laps are slow enough to make them respawn when you complete a circle.
