Welp, it was fun running old content while it lasted time to grind out mounts on my alts before next expansion.
I think it's a good idea, if well handled.
I feel like for new players the giant number isn't intimidating, it's just so huge people get really exited because it shows how much content there is. This would just take away that feeling. No, Blizz. No.
What was the point of us leveling all these years then? This is by far the dumbest idea they've ever had. Honestly they've been on a streak of terrible ideas over the past year. Just stop already with the idiocy. If this happens I would not buy anymore expansions, which means I'll just stop playing. On one hand they make you trot on a ^&*!ing ground mount for a year so you can experience the world, but then they plan on squishing leveling which is the FOCAL point of experiencing the world.Like, how *!@#ing dumb do you have to be at this point. Ion is the worst thing that's ever happened to WoW.
They are only sending it to streamers lol
I don't mind any level squish or item level squish. It's just numbers. I will need some time to get used to it after so many years, but I feel like a level squish could be healthy for the game. Think about new players that read they must go through 120 levels... Even if a level squish would not change anything on paper, it would be far less discouraging. Plus, I agree that making levels relevant again with more rewards during leveling would be nice. The Mage Tower challenge prove (if necessary) that players are keen to do things even if it's just for a cosmetic reward, so perhaps give more stuff like this during leveling.
If they do squish the levels... Well I would actually appreciate it. It would be easier to have more classes available at max level. And if they add rewards along the way, hey all the better! They could even make all zones in existence playable after like, say level 10. Imagine going straight to Northrend after that. BUT if they are going to do ANY of this, then I would hope that a zone revamp would come with it too. It's getting a bit ridiculous seeing Deathwing or the Lich King in places or moments of time where they shouldn't be.
I think they should get rid of lvling all together and just do gear
In my opinion this can be a good idea, but only if they lower the XP enough to compensate for it. The last 20 levels (or 10 if you're a demon hunter) we didn't got any new talents to make it feel like an achievement and for new players it can be quite daunting to start at 120 levels of farming/grinding to become max level.Let's just see how it all plays out... If we don't like it, we still have classic.
Oh dear, that is even worse than how the scaling turned out...Can they not get creative with rewards, offer us our rotation earlier during levelling and update some of the content that feels sorely outdated.I swear it will be better than butchering the levels.
It can be really good change as long as it's implemented proper way instead of Blizzard way.Getting to max level should be much faster than it currently is. I'm not even talking about all that outdated content you have to go through now during leveling... We have seen it thousands of times, let us just skip it and play current content.Basically I'm in for level squish as long it brings much faster leveling and leveling become less of a chore.
By all means, I'd be perfectly alright with that. For one it'll make levels more exciting and, even if it might still take as long, something like 60 sounds more attainable than 120.After that I would probably want to go with 5 levels per expansion, just because anything else feels off to me. Increments of 5 feels alright in comparison to eventually going "Level cap increased to 63!"
"a topic first floated by Ion" B. S. It was first suggested by players.
I love this... I had a similar idea a couples of days ago
There are leveling squishes that have no real impact except smaller numbers. For instance, Cata and MoP were only 5 levels instead of 10, a squish of sorts already. Chop everything except those two expansions in half and double the experience needed per level. Also change the honor threshold, xp formulas, etc to work across a smaller range. Nothing really changes except 120 becomes 65. Also, could drop another 10 levels if everyone starts at 20 like allied races (20 is the new 60).However, I'm not sure exactly sure what the benefit is. The original item squish was done to preserve the 32 bit client I believe. Numbers were getting to the point where 32 bit math wouldn't have been enough. The recent squish may have been in design before they decided to eliminate the 32 bit client with the BFA prepatch. There is a bit of a point to the item squishes to keep characters from doing quadrillions/quintillions of damage and seeming silly. High character level squishes don't seem to have the same silliness. If high levels seem like a lot of work (leveling to 120), it's probably more due to the number of hours that takes than the actual number. Changing the numbers associated with different power levels doesn't make it seem like less work unless the time involved also decreases.
nah leave it alone and go the maple story way, just keep adding lvls until we hit 1k
Not in favor because I very much doubt that it will make the levelling process any faster or easier. What I imagine will happen is that if they cut max level in half they will simply make each level take double the current amount of XP to complete. They don't really have to do much work on the rest of the world if they do that either, just cut everything in half and be done with it.What they should do is at level 60 give you the option to skip zone stories like they have been doing with the intro scenarios starting in Legion. For example, if you go to the quest giver that starts the quest line for Hellfire Peninsula you can click an option that says "I have already seen this story" and then you get a huge chunk of XP and a little gold and you can move on. This option should only be for people who have actually completed the zone on the faction of the alt they are currently playing. Players would be sacrificing all the gold and resources we would have gotten but we would get to advance quicker through the story. They should also do something about the talent system, maybe add cosmetic options to things every few levels in between the ones we get every 15 levels.
