At this time, all realms that have a Full or High population tag are expected to experience extended queues. We urge players on realms marked Full or High to plan to play on one of these new realms to avoid the longest queues, and to help spread the player population as evenly as possible and provide the best play experience for everyone.

Normal Realms are realms where Players are not automatically "flagged" for Player versus Player combat, unless they choose to be. When a Player is flagged for PvP, they can be attacked by the opposite faction when out in the World. Typically, Normal realms are where players who want to focus on Player versus Environment game mechanics will gather, hoping to avoid the inevitable chaos and destruction in a typical PvP realm.

PvP Realms are realms where Players are flagged for PvP, as long as they are not in a territory primarily controlled by a major city of their faction. PvP realms are notorious for the constant battle between forces of the Alliance and the Horde. Many players in Classic WoW have a strong identity to their faction and will attack the opposite faction at any opportunity. Players playing on a PvP realm need to keep their eyes peeled when adventuring in Azeroth!

RP Realms function exactly like a Normal Realm, where the primary focus and game mechanics are setup around Player versus Environment. On an RP realm, Players are expected to adhere to some basic Roleplaying rules and standards, typically these are different from realm to realm. If you are interested in Roleplaying World of Warcraft, it is recommended you join an RP realm and whisper another player, for any tips on how to go about your journey on that realm.

RP-PvP Realms follow the same rules as a PvP Realm, but with the same Roleplaying spirit as the RP Realm. This is where the real wars happen between the Alliance and the Horde. The open world battles that take place on these servers are taken quite seriously, by both factions and their Guild leaders.
