Hopefully Shadow Priests gets a similar treatment. Congratz to all the Enh shamans who are excited about this. I know I am.
While I'm all for the removal of the proc-based crutch for enh, there is a sort of satisfaction one gets when you can spam stormstrike with infinite procs off itself. While I don't think it should be the core of the spec, if it were to still exist it would still line up with the return of maelstrom weapon and still have some satisfying moments of bringing down the thunder.I'm looking forward to playing it to be sure, I just hope the survivability issue is addressed between now and the release of the new build. It WOULD be nice if enh got the same treatment as DKs and Fury warriors and could use 2-handers again.
So Fire Nova is coming back? Hmm. Curious and Curious-er..But you know I will never ever spec out of it no matter what. Fire Nova, if anything, is Enhancement spec-defining ability. Hopefully it's here to stay this time and won't be taken away in 10.0's pruning..
Enhancer in a Nutshell: Using weak filler stuff while Stormstrike is on cooldown. I stayed faithful to Shaman for 3 Expansions but enough is enough. I let my Shaman retire in Peace on a nice Plot of Land and fight the Crisis in Shadowlands with another Class where its safe to say that they dont flip on the Specc Players in the Course of the Expansion for no or little Reason. I wish my fellow Shaman Players good Luck in SL but i rather take the safe Road instead of being barred again and again because Blizzard is not invested enough to make the Specialisation stable.
Time to get that Enhance out of the closet.Waiting for SV now and the hype will be comp-waitforit-lete
Correct me if I'm wrong, but currently there isn't any way to spread Flame Shock? If so, Fire Nova's utility might be quite low
I have to admit, I'm curious about this. The last two expansions, I started shaman and switched halfway through... I'd hate to repeat that again, but it's tempting to try maining it again with both the elemental and enhancement changes.
Doesn't this make it more similar to the Resto Shaman rotation?
Very well done. My only thoughts: I've found Enhancement to be my MOST survivable class, especially soloing visions. And: I REALLY wish they'd consider giving us the ability to use a two hander. I don't want a change in rotation, I just wanna swing a two hander, even if they'd relax transmog limitations.
Ive stopped playing enhancer mid legion. Id love to return to my old loved Main <3My biggest doubt is the tab targeting for flameshocks to cast fire nova. They should just let lavalash spread the flameshock in an 8 yds radius and we will be fine.
I gave up on my enhancement in Legion and been missing it so much ever since.I rolled back to it like a month ago and I am keeping my hopes up for good enhancement changes for Shadowlands.Thank you for great in depth article!
Im playin shaman since wotlk. The survivability was always a problem. Especially while doing hardcore content like pushing high level keys or doing top 50-60 mythic raiding. My guild is always trying to convince me into playing other melee classes like, warrior, rogue or dk cuz they have always better survivability or utility. 1.5min cooldown to 40% damage reduction is so weak compared to other classes. Self healing is almost non-existend even though we are a hybrid class. And our only decent defansive talent is competing with feral lunge and wind rush totem which you have to take most of the mythic fights. There should be a rework on that talent row and maybe lower the cooldown of ancestral shift or even add nature's guardian as baseline and make a talent that improves it. There were many situations that i could stay alive but instead died while progressing a boss if i had nature's guardian talent but i had to play wind rush totem cuz that fight requeired a speed boost to make a mechanic a lot easier for the raid. Playing shaman right now is like handicapping yourself for no good reason.

Alternatively, not everyone liked the wack-a-mole playstyle of previous iterations and Shocks were boring. While it is nice to not have to pray for procs, a rework could have been more appropriate, not a revert. In the past, enhancement always paid the hybrid tax. Until we see the numbers, my fear is that they will only be taken for the buffs that have returned and the dmg will be subpar. I personally do not want to play the old iteration again. If I get to leveling my shammy it will likely be elemental based on what I've seen so far.Edit: Some of these buffs were always available from other classes that just preformed better in the past. So unless these buffs are exclusive to enhancement and other classes don't have access, it will be hard to justify taking them to raids or m+.
Great Work as always Mr Wordup <3
First of all , i must say i really appreciate your toughs and your impression with Enhancement.Sadly right now in the alpha we have a very very little number of people that truly comprenhend the weakness of current enhancement nad have concrete idea how to fix it.i myself am on the top5 enhancement in eu pvp wise , and besides CDEW ( wich isn't even an enhancement main) there has been no invites on alpha, i know pvp isn't important in blizzard eyes , but still reading your toughs has give me a glimmer of hope. pvp wise this expansion has been a nightmare with enhancment.i'm trying to give feedback both on reddit and on the heartshrine discord server that i am too part of ( you probably have read me there!) and i want to add something to your toughs if i may.enhancement lacks of cc is tremendous, we are the only meele that have to cast their cc ( making you particullary vulnerable to being stopped or setting you in a position of danger) and the only cc we have not only can be broken by damage and the target is still free to move ( making it harder to chain CC) but IT CAN BE DISPELLED BY OTHER DPS, mages , druids and other shamans ( Not counting mass dispels), making it useless vs certain comps or bordeline useless vs a lot of comps ( it require a setup but since it's casted it's predictable). Cap totem isn't really a thing at all since it can be kited/destroyed , and it simply apply a DR stun for 2 seconds stun wich in most of the cases is not worth.enhancement shaman is a nightmare to balance for this reason aswell, if you make it a glass cannon he is never going to be any good, if you make him too tanky he can't be stopped, if you make him more tanky with less damage and more cc it will have an identity and you have more corners to balance with.there are many lesser things like the removal of frostbrand wich is a small loss , having to aply the slow every 8 sec with a cd instead of every 16sec is more troublesome but not a big deal at allI'm very glad you mentioned how the night fae class ability isn't good , in contrast to what Preach and Tali said , and how you mentioned that Necrolords class ability does stack with malestorm, wich hasn't been mentioned by anyone , neither on youtube or twitch ( again lack of enhancment mains on alpha= poor feedback of the class), then again i compliment you on your deeps insight of the mechanics of enhancement , as a fellow enhancement main.I hope to see you in alpha/beta and be able to give more feedback than my impression based on streams and youtube video, i truly hope enhancement get his totemic warrior vibes and that it can succed in a balanced way ( there's no fun in an op class). even tho i doubt , i've never been invited to an alpha/beta.
By FullmetalRaven (167 – 1·3) 6 days ago (Patch 8.3.0) Minor changes to Enhancement ShamansFirst, I would like to state that the changes to enhancement shamans are excellent and are in the right direction.First off Talents for enhancement shamans.Level 15- All talents seem good. Just depends on other talent choices.Level 25- Lets say the obvious one Totem Mastery needs to be change AGAIN. Please Please blizzard don't leave Totem mastery like that its useless. The other two talents from level 25 are great. Just depends on other talent choices.Level 30- Fine with all three talents nothing really changed.Level 35- These were awesome and well deserved changes. All can be used in different builds depending on other talents. I also don't think Hailstorm is over tuned. I know crazy. But I think that's true. Using Maelstrom weapon for Frost Shock adds flavor to the enhancement shaman. And shouldn't be changed. But, only way blizzard should change it if they did is by taking 75% to 70%. I don't believe many people would take it if Blizzard does changes it too much.level 40- Talents are fine.Level 45- Sundering is probably the best option but I think all could be used in different builds. I don't see stormkeeper useful on enhancement shamans stopping and casting a 1.5 cast then doing abilities is not very fun. Even when you can cast for free with maelstorm weapon. To me that is pointless. Level 50- nothing changed all depends on other talent choices. For Covenant abilities. I think all need to be revisited again. In someway or other.Venthyr- Chain Harvest, Seems fun. Cast time way too long for enhancement shaman. Make it instant for Enhancement but increase the CD to 2 minutes. Or something along those lines.Night Fae- Fae Transfusion, Once again seems fun in AOE situations only. That is the only time its useful. And once again channeling something when you play shaman.. Is terrible.Necrolord- Primordial wave probably the one of best option for enhancement but still again cast time... Really blizzard if you can give other classes more instant skills for shaman too. PleaseKyrian- Vesper Totem the other great option for enhancement. Look an instant spell. If you use 2 frost shocks with hailstorm at 10 stacks of maelstrom and probably a stormstrike. Is what I believe is the best combo to use after placing Vesper Totem. If we are talking just basic Covenant abilites1. Necrolords shield first. enhancement squishyEverything else is bad. Lets be honest. Door of shadows takes too long only decent for high mythic+ to skip stuff. Soul Shape why.... I am wolf or raptor. Not good. Summon Steward I really wish this was better. Probably rate Steward second if I really had to choose and the other two are just bad for shaman.Overall, I like the burst. The single target and AoE damage is good. I really like the idea making enhancement shaman really haste based. Enhancement Only will get better with gear that's for sure. I could really see haste and mastery being the most important. With Critical strike matching mastery to be just as good.I posted this as you see 6 days ago as of 6/27/20. Good amount of things I said as well and I agree with you. But do you know you can cast windfury on your main hand then change it to your off hand then cast it again to have two windfurys..
i am extremely disappointed they decided to go back to pre legion gameplay. babysitting totems and weapon enchants, random maelstrom stacks you have no control over. the maelstrom rework with legion played so good and was the spec least in need of reworking.it goes back to need so many gcds of setup to start doing damage meanwhile dhs charge in and start eye beaming and death sweeping the whole trash pack down by the time you put flame shock on 2 mobsblizzard ever since bfa makes mindboggling game decisions. why did enhancement need rework but balance keeps the astral power system legion introduced?
