If you are on a very low population realm you should probably try to limit your purchases as these connections keep going up. Prices are likely to fall on most items when it stabilizes after the fact. https://t.co/UtFbjiKbRQ— The Lazy Goldmaker (@lazygoldmaker) July 31, 2020

I totally agree with Whiskers about The Real Cost of the Longboi. It never occurred to me that spending 5 million to buy it could be remotely worth it. That's several years of game time I could have bought instead. To each his own, but even the perceived prestige value is pretty ephemeral. I'd prefer to use a mount which doesn't call attention to myself as a 1%.
It's a shame Blizzard shows off interesting little things like the extra little perks on crafted gear and then just nuke it.
For those who want their LongBoi, watch the WowSamadan's TSM tutorials on Youtube (he help you implement an entire system, not just a few advices)
The 2 million Spider mount is still awesome and rare...
No Connections for Drenden-Arathor? What the hell.
I finally bit the bullet and just bought bulk tokens to get the longboi. Took me a few resets of capping token purchases (added to around 1.5M of farmed gold) but it has entirely cured my anxiety about missing the mount and the convenience of the mount is amazing. feelsgoodman.jpg
I'm on a dead server so making money through the auction house is a total joke, and I'm nowhere good enough to charge for carries, but I wanted to get the longboi just to see if I could. It took me six or seven months of raw gold farming with nine toons raking in paragon caches and the occasional 2k emissary reward, but also running old raids so I could feel like I was accomplishing other things like filling out transmogs and obtaining raid mounts (got the Felsteel Annhialator, Ironhoof Destroyer, Mimiron's Head, and the green infernal, yeehaw). Along with a lot of podcasts, it eased some of the tedium. And it's not just the mental toll, I legit think I put on some weight with all the snacks I was eating during the grind.I got my longboi in early July, and after the thrill of finally getting to hug him and squeeze him and call him George, I realized how thoroughly exhausted my supply of craps was. As soon as my subscription ran out I was all "Yeah, I'm gone until Shadowlands, see ya."
5 million for a mount with an auction house is not worth the time when you think you can go to an auction house for 2 minutes of your time.Save it for gear and wow tokens and save IRL money. It's dumb that it is even worth 5mil in the first place.
I got mine last week. And was it ever a lot of work, starting in either April or May I think it was.I got as many alts up to 120 as I could. Geared them up reasonably via Benthic tokens, then gradually upgraded with WQ rewards and so on. Then it was down to running the emissary quests that rewarded gold, WQ's that gave gold, and the Legacy LFR runs. Each day after work, I'd run 2 or 3 alts through selected LFR bosses in Pandaria and WoD. Then I'd run them through Heroic Vaults, HoF, ToES, and Throne. Vendor everything except trade mats like cloth and leather. Over the last month or so of the grind, I also added ICC and Ulduar runs hoping to get the mounts. On days off, I'd do multiple alt runs, or level up more alts if all my chars were on lockdown, or WQ's.I managed to pull in anywhere from 20 to 60k per day depending on time constraints. I also got the Throne mounts, which was awesome.I admit I got seriously worried at the end because I was feeling burnt out from work and that was making me really not want to play. I stuck it out though and having the last 2 weeks being work free vacation time was the boost I needed to get it done.I also crafted bags and such to draw in AH gold which was a nice bit of padding.(I tried the Botanica gold grind and found it boring as heck. Gave up after a couple of hours.)
Got mine due to COVID. 80hrs a week for almost two months while working from home. It has completely changed how I play the game. I am having more fun as there are lots of things I now refuse to do :)Even rejoined a guild. Got so many welcomes adding the Alt Army that farmed emissaries, assaults, and the good Raids 14x each a week. Now if I can just find a use for 4 million+ Coalescing Visions....
I accepted when BfA was released that I'd never be able to afford that Brutosaur until an eventual later date where the gold cap was raised, like what caused the yak from MoP to become "cheaper". But Blizzard wanted people to buy tons of tokens and all they will get from me is the gametime cost.
I got the Longboi and to me the gold was worth it I’m sorry to the people who will miss getting it I always miss a couple things that I wanted that go away. Good luck to those that are trying to get it for those that don’t I’m sure they will come out with another cool expensive mount later and you will have a head start on that one
I got mine back in January and then took a 6 month break from the game, which I'm only just back from, I didn't play the AH or boost, the gold came more passively from farming old raids and doing the emissaries on multiple alts, which took a longer period to gather. It also came from avoiding repair bills, so I am only now getting on with M+. If there is another stupidly expensive mount in Shadowlands unless it looks amazing, I'm skipping it. It is a real shame they are removing it. Good luck to those who are still collecting gold for it.
I really hope they do something to make old world materials more useful / interesting. There hardly seems to be any point to levelling them, apart from a handful of useful crafts. The weapon enchant appearances for each expansion were a good idea - they should roll those out somehow.
