Personaly I think the problem of Slam could be solved with propably a Cataclysm version of Bloodsurge, that makes it free of cost and maybe deal increased damage. That way it could find it's way in Fury's rotation. As for Shield Block and Shield Slam I had an idea of bringing back Defensive Stance as baseline and have it artificialy equip warriors with a shield so they could use them.
Well that's at least one warrior spec (if not one spec among all classes) that doesn't look too bad in the current state of beta !
Been pretty frustrated with fury all of 8.3.No real reason to bring a fury warrior to the table. AoE capped. No niche. No interesting or game changing utility. I say this as a 12/12M warrior with 99th percentile on a majority of fights in Nya with a couple of top 30 parses for fury. Pretty !@#$ that we've been AoE capped, don't really scale well with corrupts compared to other classes, meh single target and AoE cap whereas DH and outlaw taking a dump on fury warriors all through M+ (I'm 4k io and pretty much hard capped there - I can't pug io like other classes and have to rely on friends who sacrifice an outlaw/dh for me).Hoping slands is better to us.
I love how you look at night faemany others I've read just discarded it because the spear did mroe damage and condem looks amazing...I love the ancient aftershock rage generation over time, also I really like the coulbinds that are in the game for night fae right now, especially the interupt or the damage increase against low targets, it also lines up very amazingly with reckless abandonalso the potential vanish with soul shape just seems too strong to skip, if you can cheese targeted boss mechanics with italso I think soul shape is quite compelling, as it allows mt to grab storm bolt without feeling bad for not picking double timeall in all I think the night fae opener would be crazy:-reckless abandon-charge-fresh meat bloodthirst-ancient aftershock-$$$ free rage for daysalso it seems you have skipped over the 2nd part of fresh meat, which raises the chance to trigger enrage from bloodthirst from 30% to 45%, what's your opinion on that?
I miss the old Stormbolt, when it did 400% bonus dmg to targets immune to stun, and was the go to ST ability on that talent row. Also would like to see Fury( and Arms) get Shockwave back as a talent. No aoe stun is rough. :(
I for one loved the days of Wild Strike. I even chose the talent that affected it (but can't remember how - made next two strikes free on some proc?) and would some times get large Wild Strike chains in a row.
Conqueror banner is severely underestimated. The conduit is actually quite awesome, and transform the skill into a burst cd with high length (+26% str for 30s), while still providing the group bonus.I think it can provide high value even with 3 casters in the group (because it's decent even for you alone), and can be launched at great heights if builded around properly.
I'm planning on going Necrolords for my covenant choice atm. I'm liking the thought of some mean Banner + Windfury Totem melee/hunter stack groups. :D Plus with the 20% increased max hp, makes a good group/personal defensive. Anyone know if it stacks with Commanding Shout? o.O Oh, anyone hat has played the Alpha/Beta, with the loss of azerite traits, will Fury BiS sec stat go back to Haste? Or somehow still be Crit?
Looking forward to enjoying Fury for yet another expansion.
yep i'm really disapointed by this unprunning, it feel like a waste of resource with no impact. i was expecting to be able to play a more "generic" warrior and have more freedom for dome cool thing like spartan gameplay with shield and 2 h weapong.....what the point to unprunning if you never use this abilities...hoodwink
Thanks for the excellent write up Archimtiros. I always enjoy reading your work. Makes me happy to continue on playing Fury. The addition of Spell Reflect and Ignore Pain make me a super happy camper, especially as someone who prefers not to stress the healer if I don't have to. IP probably won't see a lot of use in raid, but as someone who currently does keys in the 20-22 range being able to survive those damage spikes where I just barely otherwise died is way, way more valuable than the extra damage from Rampage, see: Cragmaw Rampage, Tussle Tonks Gnomercy Vent Jets, Kula the Butcher's Axes, Dazar's leap, The Sand Queen Upheval, and then the various and sundry M+ affixes that it's hard to get away from. Just wondering - I had heard that the Phial of Serenity was on the same gcd as regular healing potions, but you've said it not. I have no reason to doubt you, just wondering if that's a thing you've specifically tested or not. I'm less interested in the heal and FAR more interested in the removing debuffs. As a non-Dark Iron, this is the one key that has made me consider swapping races. I'm very lucky that I have a set group for M+ so I'm always looking for more survivability and utility and being able to self dispel affects like bleeds and such are super valuable.I'm glad to see that the covenant abilities all seem to be useful, which lets me pick the covenant I want instead of the covenant I HAVE to have. I love the idea of the Conqueror's Banner I just feel like the implementation will be rough. It's neat flavor to think of wielding your clan banner or something, slamming it down, and fighting extra hard on the hilltop, that kind of thing. Ultimately I'll probably go Venthyr because I love the idea of Condemn and so far I like their lore a lot more than anyone else's.Again - great write up!
"Spell Reflection is strong in general right now, able to circumvent an alarming number of mechanics as well as deal tremendous damage - extending that to the entire party is just plain broken."I don't know about that. We are still talking about a single spell reflect. Yeah, it affects the whole party, but after the first spell, the spell reflect buff is cancelled. If anything, it being applied to the whole party can actually diminish its potential rather than increase it. Because if you activate it expecting an incredibly strong enemy spell, but meanwhile some enemy imp casts his measly weak firebolt on a random member of your party (or a pet in your party), it only reflects this one insignificant spell and it's over.In WotLK (and maybe even in later expansions), Shamans had spell reflect totem that did the same thing. Buffed the entire party to reflect the next incoming spell. And that was back in the day when there were no PvP talents, so it was usable for both PvP and PvE. Wasn't overpowered even when every single Shaman in battleground could do it. There are way too many spells flying around for it to be incredibly useful. Usually it's eaten by a filler spell casters use instead of auto attacks.
I picked up fury warrior as an alt during the anniversary event and he’s a ton of fun. I main Sin rogue so it’s two very different yet enjoyable play styles. With how much warriors have going on for SL and with how little we know about rogues I’m leaning more towards warrior Thanks for the excellent write up.
" Fury Warriors have enjoyed a the limelight for the past couple expansions, with near universal praise"Are you on crack? Fury has been a joke spec for almost the entire time I have played it (and it's my main, since 2009). PvP is even MUCH WORSE, with near zero point in playing PvP in the spec.Sure we have had a few moments in between patching where we were useful and could output serious damage, but nowhere near any consistency in viability from expansion to expansion.
