It can take multiple years of fighting for even the diagnosis for a child (The price off free health care heh), and the moment the child leaves school (probably most vulnerable critical time as so much change happens) they get no help at all. All the help is aimed around school aged and young children or parents with children on the spectrum. You do get the odd independent not for profit trying to fill the void in lack of support. But you also get many many "Charity's" that are just business adventures after a profit offering expensive and inadequate support.
