This giant blue bird roams either in the northernmost part of westfall (the shore), southernmost (Near deadmines) easternmost (dead acre) and chooses not to go near the eastside.

Now, I don't approve of farming, but, if you're going to try it you should at least know the basics sbout rare spawns. Spawns are considered rare because eithier they have a long respawn timer or a placeholder. A placeholder is a mob that would spawn instead of a rare spawn, so, kill vultures near where he was spotted most and see if that helps.

I found the bird extremly easy to kill.

I was passing by sentinell hill when a level 13
wanted me to help him kill a bird (I'm level 26)

He finds the bird and I think "no biggie"
I give him some healing potions so he won't
die, we kill the bird which was very easy.

Then he drops the talon of vultros...

you can solo this bird very easy at level 25
if you use your rogue abalities such evasion,
vanish

IF you are lower then ask after an healer/Buy
som healing potions. the bird is easy and
none elite, its a must dagger for any rogue.

I have been reading all of the posts and looking at the spawn maps.....however...i can't seem to see this guy ANYWHERE where you have sugested, nothing .. I have killed all the Fleshrippers for 500 miles radius around Fulbrow's Pumpkin Farm...."HOW DO I GET THIS DAGGER FOR MY ROGUE I'M DUE IN BG FOR A WEEK"

I just saw Vultros last night (sept 23) around 11pm EST.
As I was lvl 16, I just avoided him.
He is a grey-blue, about the size of the ones that hover around the carcass on the beach.
Vultros stayed near the beach / land line, traveling maybe 50 feet inland then returning to the dune.
Believe he was near the carcass.

Vultros was by the Gnoll camps near the Dust Plains & Duskwood. I was farming wool to lvl up tailoring, and I spotted him. Smoke'd him with my lvl 24 mage no problem. Got the Cape.. which sucks because I already have the Cloak of Brotherhood... oh well. If anyone wants it, Ive got it banked. Mccready on Malfurion

I saw him in the Dead Acre... I was lvl 20 Rogue at the time, and then this 15 hunter came up to me and asked me if I could help him kill some darn bird that killed him like 5 times... I go and check it out... Jaw almost ripped out of my mouth with amazement... that thing is freakin HUGE... lol. Well... the stupid idiot I am, me and the hunter try to kill it, and for some reason, we fail miserably like 5 times, but we didnt make the mistake of spamming it accross general... got my lvl 60 friend cuz he was bored... alll we got was the dang cape -.-

I was trying to get that dagger for friends lvl 21 rogue alt

I have a nice targetting macro I got off thott some time ago when looking for Humar
I use it all the time looking for named mobs.

Its nice cause now I'm 60 and have fast transport :)

I just mounted up and was riding all around in a grid system (took like 5 min to finally get him on my radar). Found him east of Dead Acre. (which btw is NOT marked on the thott map, so don't just go by those locations) Unfortunately it dropped the cape. The dagger is rediculously expensive on Khaz'Goroth, (like 30-50g) so I'll be trying again.

Hi ive got a book called "World of Warcraft - Atlas" mayby you know it?

Anyway its written that Vutros is a Rare Spawn.! Compared to its lvl it says that its RESPAWN time is

21 - 32 Hours!

NOT 1 WEEK!

I've killed the Vultros rare 2 or 3 times. If I remember right I once killed him 2 days in a row, so I don't belive the spawntime is above 24 hours.

If I'd take a guess, I'd guess he does have a spaceholder AND a spawntime (Spawns a certain amount of minutes after the spaceholder has been killed). But that's only a guess, I'm currently researching it.

I've killed like 50 fleshrippers now, and going into DM to help somebody. Going to check for vultros again when I'm out.

Both/all three times I've killed him, he was to the left of Moonbrook.

Found and killed him today at 62,75 (The dust plains).

Surounded by about 10 small mobs, luckely I'm to high level to agro them.

He dropped the green cape.

Vultros spawns every 21-32 hours and roams around by the Dead Acre, the Dust Plains, Furlbrow's Farm, Stendel's Pond, and in the plains southeast of the Molsen Farm. He can also be found in the plains west of Moonbrook towards the coast. killing other vultures may help.

I've seen some people talk about spawnholders here, and I seem to comprehend the concept. But just to be crystal clear, let us revise.

Spawnholders are random normal mobs which in this case holds the place of a rare mob. And when a spawnholder is killed, the next spawn is in lieu of a normal mob the rare mob.

Correct?

Assuming it is true, can any mob be a spawnholder? Or does it have to be the kin of which the rare mob is?

I was wondering about this since the south east spawn location here at thottbot doesn't seem to have any Fleshrippers around it.
Shall I still hope that the Riverpaws are spawnholders for Vultros too and kill them while I'm running around farming it(the dagger ofc) ;) (not really farming though, getting it as a surprise for a friend :>)

I've killed him twice, both times in the morning around 7ish and both times he was right above the 2 O's in mOOnbrook on my map. Im on skywall. I havent got a talon yet but I have got the #$%^ty cloak.

Found him agian. I read on WoW-forum that he only spawns once every 12hours. This does make sence, since i killed him at night time, around the same hour. Did not get talon, got the stupid cape agian. This time he was at the farm east of sentinel hill. Last time was near moonbrook, at the pond.

this guy on my sever is always there like on day i seen him about x20 times and another day he wont be there but he is there a good 6days a week but i never now he drop the much good stuff i just help the people that are fighting it but i want to tam it first than i start killing it. I accidentaly bumped into Vultros at the Dead Acres on my way to Duskwood. Me, being a dwarven hunter at level 30-something, easily kill the birdie and Talon of Vultros drops! "Holy Hell!" Too bad it's level 21 and I really hadn't that much use for it at the time. I got 19 gold+ (!) for it in the Auction House though. Sweet.

I might add that a couple of days later I ran into Vultros once more at the Dead Acres. Talon of Vultros drops again, and this time it sells for the insane amount of 29 gold+ (!) in the Auction House. Too sweet.

All later attempts at finding Vultros have been unsuccessful...

Tip: A nice combo would be Talon of Vultros + Blackvenom Blade as they are both level 21 daggers.

After a mage took my Cruel Barb from VC I wasn't paying attention to where I was going, I was in Stendel's Pond and Vultros was there by the pond. I remember back in Beta with my Priest this dude wrecked my in a few hits, so I decided to return the favour, and he was nice enough to drop his Talon =) Very nice dagger.

For anyone wondering what he looks like, Hes a HUGE fleshripper type bird, at least 5 times the size of the normal ones around Westfall so if he's spawned, you wont miss him, I promise. I remember back when WoW first came out (2 days after I think) I had my warlock in westfall as level 14, and saw this thing flying over the field beside The Jansen Stead, I was high enough level to see his level at the time but was extra red, so I played it smart and just watched him flying around owning random people. then later some people formed a group and took him down. Tough mob, level 24+ recommended.

I was on my way to STV for a quest when i saw Vultros and thought oh yay i finally found him... then it was time for vultros to die afterwards i looted him and my yell of Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! could be heard far away because he dropped the cape and not the dagger. i killed him to day at around 7:16 server time (server: Agrammar)

I was on my level 15 mage when some guy yelled "WTF lvl ? boss in furlbrow pumpkin patch!" on general chat. Obviously Vultros isn't a boss, but it was all I needed. I'd been looking for Vultros for a while, and even had my main in Westfall incase I found him. I spotted Vultros, logged onto my main and ran over. A level 14 hunter shot Vultros before i got to tag him, apparently trying to kite him to the guards. Luckily the hunter got ganked by other enemies (sucks for him) and Vultros returned to his spot. I pwnt Vultros and got the dagger! That was my first ever kill on him.

Found Vultros.... I was doing deadmines after a frikin mage beat me on the ring off smelter. I took the back way out.... and I ran through all the knuckledusters and stuff like that, and right behind Sentinel hill. I tried to solo him as 20 hunter but that piece of crud wouldnt get off me and onto my pet. Then I asked a lvl 70 to help. He dropped the dang cape again... But thats where i usally see him. He is normally behind sentinel hill by the lower lvl defias camps. And since i got the cape off VC i didnt need the cape off him.

Earlier today I went looking for him. He wasn't spawned at any of the places the map here says, so I just went west of Moonbrook and slaughtered about fifty fleshrippers to no avail. I'm going to try again next level when I can tame him though.

At approx 11.30 GMT he was at the patch north of Saldean's farm. I'm a lvl 11 rogue grouped with a lvl 15 mage and we got spanked. We took 2 hits each. We're relatively new so i suppose it was a bit of an honour really.

Ive been hunting this bastard own for bout 3months no sign....i even search whe no1 is online i check all 5 spawn areas Deadacre to Dustplains to the Pond to moonbrook i make it to the other sometimes if im fealin lucky.... for any1 whos found him can u tell me where u found him..?

This is not a very smart spawn to camp. His spawn time is between 12 - 32 hours in 1 of 5 locations! What is the logical way to get this guy? I'd say spending 4+ hours at a time roaming all 5 locations over many weeks will eventually lead to finding him. You can't just enter Westfall one day and expect to find him (that is for the lucky few) - you have to be patient and roam his spawnpoints. You have to be a crazy scientist.

to answer the question below: It shouldn't be too hard but keep off the road as the guards patrol it. Most get here by swimming.

According to the WoW Atlas, Vultros spawns about every 24 hours at one 5 possible points in Westfall.

Still haven't found him... :P If possible, someone would give more information about spawn location and times. Or is Vultros that kind of mob who spawns after killing enough other fleshrippers? doesnt seem like that because I killed over 130 them and didnt found him after that. So if anyone could give even a tiny bit of information I'd be glad :)

(funny story of how i tamed him, 1) im horde... 2) lvl 29

so i come up to the dead acre and i start spamming my macro, (/target Vultros) sure enough it pops up! but damm! hes being attacked by 2 allinace! so i run over set a freeze trap and begin the tame immediatly, as vultros starts to head over the two 20 alli notice me and start attacking, i down the warlock pretty easily (vult still frozen) then he un freezes and comes after me, i run around kite the warrior to death for a lil with the giant buzzard on my ass the whole time, finnaly he dies, i health pot, turn around and tame! with much luck (and no ice trap for easy tameing) i have enough life to finish the taming and get Vultros as my new pet!) yay for silly alliance and a awesome new blue carrion bird!

I was wondering if anyone knew around what time he spawns on the Vek'nilash server? I am lucky if I'm able to get in a couple hours of playing time every few days. Because of this, I don't have the luxury of camping for Vultros (or any rare mob) unless I never want to level. I just want to get the dagger (I'm a rogue) and be done with it. Any help would be appreciated.

Aight. I have killed this birdie 7 times. Here's how it goes.

First time i found him i was helping a friend quest in westfall. I just happened to see him when I was running around. That's irrelevant tho.

Spawn point: Only place ive ever killed him // seen him at all is by the riverpaw taskmasters camps and stuff in the southern // southeast corner of westfall. He is flying around there in the middle.

First time i killed him he dropped the dagger. I was like w00t, good
money on AH.
Second time i kill him, he drops the lousy cloak. Bleh.
Third time i kill him, he drops dagger again. Sell it on AH.
Fourth time cloak.
Fifth time cloak.
Sixth time cloak.
Seventh time cloak.

The way i have found this guy so often is, everytime ive went to STV to help/gank/raid ive run thru westfall, and always have a look at his spawnplace. So i have no idea about his respawn time, but it cant be too bad as ive found him so often. (once per week just about).

Well i hope this helps you, im sorry i can't give any coords for his spawnplace, but its not hard to find. I think it might be on a map here on Khazam.

A little better description for his spawnplace is: Just south of the road leading out of westfall to duskwood. There you will find riverpaw taskmasters and some other riverpaws. A lot of tents and a ruin. He spawns close to the ruins, there is a wide open spot just besides them.
- Atleast that's where i have found him all times, so i guess it might be the only place he spawns nowadays.

- BTW, havent seen any talon of vultros on ah, besides my own, so i don't think too many ppl on Balnazzar knows about this guy, Or ive just been lucky enough to get to him first.

i found him thursday night at 10:30 right as i was about to log off, had my 24 hunter, i debated for a second on if i should tame him or hope for the dagger for my rouge. then i saw a warrior running towards him, so i shot him first to tag him, then ended up killing it and getting the cape...DANG! i should have tamed it

I was heading for the shore to do some fishing, when I bumped into him at 35,68. Took him down with no effort with my lvl 26 Pally. He dropped the Cape, which came in quite handy, since I had been looking for a better one.^^

Does anyone know his respawn rate? I killed him yesterday and got Talon of Vultros, but i wanna kill him some more and get it again. I sold it today to some lvl 50 who "REALLY NEEDED AND HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR IT FOREVER!", as he told me, and he gave me 20g for it ! lol, but i wanted to know if anybody knew the respawn rate, thankz, latez!

hes bigger than the normal birds and a blue color. He spawned in the pumpkin patch next to the mine in northern westfall. Dropped a crappy cloak =/ no talon. Hes not that strong btw, duoed as a 20 mage with a 22 hunter and he got owned.

Guildie said he saw a rare wandering around Westfall, I immediatly knew it was him, I rushed over from Redridge, he (level 14 hunter), a passing druid (level 14), warlock (level 13) and me (level 21 rogue) all attack and killed him. Dropped the cape. Warlock won it but gave it to me. <3

Atleast its a hot cape. ;D

Vultros' spawn time is 12+ hours so when Blizz resets the server does this mean we have to wait 12+ hours after server reset at least for him to appear?

I've decided to camp this guy with my 60 mage when I'm not raiding since both the cape and the dagger would be excellent for my hunter alt, and the dagger goes for 130G on my server. Any tips on spawn times from those who have successfully camped him? Is he up immediately after a server restart or 12 hours after?

I saw this bird, i was level 12 human rogue at the time... he served me a treat. It was only after this that i learned he dropped this great dagger for rogues... if i had known i would have called on the aid of my warrior and healer friends to take him down... been looking out for him ever since.. so far no luck.

Well he should be out there somewhere - i've killed the bird 3 times, got 2 capes and 1 dagger.

I've been watching alot for this bird when i was a lower lvl rogue - but unfortunatly didn't it drop the dagger in that period...

I'd help a low lvl group with DM some days ago - after we had walked through the exit of the mines did i mount to the gryph master, and on my "journey" between deadmines exit & sentinel hill he was flying around - he'd get one shot from the death ray (just for fun) and there it was - sold it for 22g at the AH

ive been looking for him for a while but i gave up ive only ever seen him once in my total playing time with my lvl 14 mage he droped dagger but rogue said hed pay me for it so i passed and he grabed it ran off so i was pissed for a while

Hopefully it is random, but I don't know - Blizzard would be solving one of the FFXI problems with totally random / timing of rare spawns. He spawned over my head about two weeks ago. Unfortunately, I was level 15 and got owned. I would love a chance to return the favor and get that dagger.

I came accros him today by sheer chance on the duskwood side of the dead acre, killed him as my lvl 23 druid, and got the dagger, all without ever knowing he existed. I love how this game can still surprise.

i've heard that he spawns every 24 - 30 hour, but when? like at 12:00 PM or 05:00 AM?

I met him the first time I was in Westfall. At the time I was a lvl 12 gnome mage. I was wandering around and aggroed him and died very quickly. I have been searching for him everytime I've been in Westfall.

I can confirm that indeed one of the spawn points is 63.0, 74.4 among the gnoll camps to the South-east.
Found him and tamed him this morning after three days of searching and posting 20 gold reward in world chat!

I killed him today at Furlbrow's Pumpkin Farm (coord 50.22). Sadly, he dropped the cape.
