This quest chain doesn't really end here when you defeat Tapoke Jahn he gives you a quest which leads to the other half of the quest chain. He is quite hard and comes with a bodyguard if your lucky there will be some high levels around who will help you when they see you fighting them. He turns friendly when he's defeated and then returns to the inn.

If a Mage opens with a sheep, he won't summon his guard.

I soloed him with only a little difficulty at lvl 29.

As of the 9th of march 2007 i did this on my 29 warrior very hard, got help from another, just get him to 20'ish % and he surender.

Also i notes that he didnt had a bodyguard as he use to in the "old" days,.. maybe cause i charge the sec he turned hostile, dunno... GL ;]

After killing slim u can talk to him in the tavern (yea i know). The new info is that the missing diplomat is no one else then the SW king himself! It's said that some private named Hendel is the badguy and u have to find him. The word is that he is stationed in Theramore.

In theramore the commander points to a sentry tower just outside the city.

At the sentry point there is a guy waiting who tells u where to find private Hendel. Hendel is at a tentcamp just outside the sentry point. Hendel is with 2 guards that protect him. U have to kill him. If it is the end of the quest i dont know. They killed me :-(..

i just went to the wetlands and talked to mikhail and got the quest to defeat slim. i did that, then talked to mikhail, then to slim, then mikhail again, and now i have to go to dustwallow marsh to talk to commander samaul

this quest is taking me everywhere, jeez!@

In Menethil, after you beat Slim head back into the Inn and talk with Mikhail again. Wait for a quest icon to appear over Slim and then accept that. Head over to Theramore and follow the storyline. The last 2 steps were worth 2150 and 4300 exp to this 32 Mage. Also got this ring (3str, 7stam) https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=2995/deprecated-burnished-chain-coif . Long quest but worth it.

The quest ends now because the story is impossible to complete at this point.

The Missing Diplomat IS Varian Wrynn, the King of Stormwind (trust me, the king is not that kid). The King can currently find on Alcaz Island (hehe Alcatraz --> Alcaz), near Theramoore, held by level 60 Naga Elites.

Word has it that Blizzard will be removing the King from the island in Patch 1.9, which will enable them to set up a new chain, continuing from this one, where you have to rescue the King from the Island. Supposedly this quest will be a big one for the Alliance (obviously) and will debut with the release of the Burning Crusade. No word on how you're going to have to rescue him.

So if you've got the ring, then you've gone as far as this quest goes right now.

Heh heh, solo'ed it w/ a 32 prist.
everytime Private Hendel and his 35 and 36 goons came at me I went to the next-door tower, and the guards helped me.

If Handel runes away back to his spot, just abandon quest, he'll have the yellow '!' over him, and bring him to the helping guards again.

Like someone else said, it is really easy if you drag him to the guards at the tower.

I hit him, fear, shielded, ran and flash healed several times. Go to the guards.. mind blasted a couple times, and he went down. One of his sentries was aggressive to me for a cuple minutes after but I ran away until she lost aggro and was fine.

Done, solo 31 Priest.

6000 xp just for killing Hendel!

Did this alone at lvl 32 paladin. Luring the dudes to be killed by the guards didn't work. Managed to kill the lvl 35 and 36 sentrys first. Abandoned the quest and took it again. Fought Hendel (which was easy) and completed the quest quite easily.

You'll find Hendel at 45,25 exactly in the Dustwallow Marsh. Get on the dock behind him before you talk to him, then only attack him, ignore his thugs, you'll get him down far enough where the fight will end before you get killed. I was only level 30 (just turned 30 before I got to him) Paladin.

It was easier than I thought it would be to be honest.

I finished alone (lvl 30 Elven Druid) except Hendle in the camp. Another player had same quest so we whacked him together. Got the ring my xp etc.
Lady said to meet her in town but what was her name and exact position? Will she have sth new for me? Very nice quest line this so I wanna carry on.

When you go to Theramore you will be asked to go to the middle near road by tents and ther be ready you will have to fight a 35 guy, be ready and you will recieve 4100 points for this one and a decnt ring.

Well, here's what some of the others didnt tell you.

After talking to the guy in the inn at menethil harbour, he tells you to kick Slim's ass. You pass Slim on the right as you walk into the inn. When you click the complete quest to start the ass kicking of Slim, he stealths and begins to leave inn. RUN TO THE ENTRANCE OF INN =)

He'll try making a break for it. You cant actually attack him til he gets a lil further from the inn, but you must be with him as he does this, otherwise you will fail quest.

Follow him, he summons his guards. Kick his ass, focus on him alone. At approx 30% his guards tell his to stuff off, they've had enough. He cries. You win! He speaks to you, then says he'll be right back.

Please, at this point dont do what I did at first, and travelled between theramore and wetlands for 45 minutes. JUST BE PATIENT.

Wait in the inn in Menethil Harbour for approx 2-3 mins. He'll come back there, then to continue on the quest click him and he'll then direct you to speak to the guy in the inn next to him.

After you speak to him, the guy in the inn sends you to Theramore. You must speak to some guard guy on the mid level of the tower. Once you've spoken to him he then tells you not to cause trouble in his lands and all that patter.

Afterwards, he tells you to head north to the SENTRY POINT!

Dont run way ahead of yourself here and run to the North Tower Point. 'Cos you'll only have to run back =)

ENTER THE SENTRY POINT (Note: there is no marker to follow, just walk into the lower level of the Sentry Point)

Some crazy archmage Tervosh guy appears. He brings word from the ruler of theramore. He buffs you, and then tells you where the guy you need to kill is.

From here head north to the North Point Tower. At this point when you approach you'll see a lil yellow dot on your minimap, this is the guys ass you'll be kicking in a short while. He's just accross the water from the North Point Tower at 45,25.

From here, buff up. You'll complete the quest, then click his ! above his head and the fight will begin. You've seen this a thousand times already in this quest chain, so you should know. CONCENTRATE ONLY ON HIM! At 20% or so, he'll give in, call off his guards. His guards take approx 3-4 secs after he gives in to stop, so just heal yourself or survive some way =D

He then cries, archmage tervosh, Lady Proudmore *ruler of theramore*, and some other 45 npc appear.

They smack his ass, naughty naughty boy. Give you all honor and graces and all that jazz. Then give you a fancy 1g 30s reward and a kickass ring.

NOW, this is my first post on this www.wowhead.com/classic website. I hope this has helped all you guys who have been thwarted with a dead end at this stage of the quest chain.

After getting killed a couple of times with a level 31 solo priest, I had to use guile rather than brawn. Immediately after being attacked by Handel and his two guards I let out a psychic scream, and they all took off. I then ran back toward the guard tower, and his two guards followed me. The good guards at the tower killed Handel's two guards for me. I then abandoned the quest, and returned to meet Handel alone, who had a gold exclamation mark over his head. Since he was alone (his guards had not yet respawned), I was able to subdue him and earm my ring, and quite a few honor points also. The key was getting the guards at the tower to take out Handel's guards for me, since I could not possibly do it myself.

I did the quest at lvl 29, got no ring and no 4000xp, whats up with that, i got 230 xp and thats it..

I had the same problem with not killing private hendel the first time. I ran to the tower guards, they killed his escorts, but when i ran back to kill him, I couldn't. About a minute later someone else came by to kill him. I waited to at least help pull the guards, and killed them. The other person killed hendel but i got the quest complete and they couldn't. This quest is seriously glitched.

There are more quests after this one. You have to talk to the "slim" guy that you defeated. You end up gong to Theramore and talking to a guy in the keep there, then going to defeat a soldier (can't remember his name) in Dustwallow Marsh. Haven't gotten past there yet though because he's lvl 35 with buddies I think and I'm only 31.

There is a bug with Private Hendel. When you are fighting him, at about 50% health, he freezes up and is no longer attackable. The GM told me it will be fixed soon, but for those of you having the same problem, let it be known that there is a glitch

Ok for those of you that don't know Theramore is on kalimdor. Take the southern boat out of Menthil Harbor. The person you need to talk to first is at 68,49. he will tell you to go to the sentry point.

Follow the road out of town to the 1st tower (did not get the loc. sry), sentry point and talk to the guy in the tower. He will tell you to follow the road and you will find hendel. Hendel is just past the 2nd tower at 45,24.

Be careful the beasts in the area are lvl 36. hendel is lvl 35 with 2 guards also 35. you only have to lower hendel's health by about 1/2 and u get backup.

Tons of exp ( think it was close to 10k from the time I hit theramore but over 6k just for hendel) and a nice ring +3 str and +7 stam.

I am a 32 warrior and did it solo.

Ok I failed this one so I abandoned the quest thinking I could restart it and try again but I cant seem to find the starting npc for it.
The bishop guy in the keep doesnt work and neither does the bartender in Menthill Bay so buggered if I know where to go to start it back up.
I died a bit further on in the quest after the boat trip so i wanted to have another crack at it.

I failed a couple times last night. All you have to do is go back to Mikhail and talk to him again and it begins a new.

abandon quest. Wait for repop of Hendel, talk to him and go at him again. Worked for me today when I duoed him. Only one person got update, had to abandon qeust and wait for repop. Then Hendel had the exlamation point over him.

You can grief other alliance pretty bad with this quest. Start attacking the main guy and let him call out his bodyguards. Then Vanish and watch the body guards run around killing any people nearby in the city. They are both level 34 and most of the people in menethil are in their mid 20's so 2 34's make an easy meal out of them. I've done this a couple times solo and had to vanish just to apologize to all the people who the bodyguards killed. I guess it's their fault for not answeirng my LFG ;)

Solo with lvl 32 mage. Slim ran out the bar and turned hostile. I sent a fireball after him. He came running back with one guard. Frost Nova, back up and sent a couple more fireballs into Slim. Guard baled on Slim and Slim gave up. Was over in seconds. No one had time to offer help. Realize lvl 32 is little higher than most take this on but there wasn't much to it. I've also been a spectator to this and seen him come back with only one guard so maybe it's random.

OK, im not sure if this was some sort of a glich or what, but if you hit him ASAP with polymorph (as your first attack on slim) he WILL NOT summon backup.

I've done this with 2 different toons, and if i did it again i'd do it exaclty the same way: stand outside the inn and announce that you're going to do the Slim Tapoke quest, then warn everyone to run away or they will be killed by Slim and his gang after they kill you. This gets everyone's attention. You'll draw a crowd if the server is busy. Start out saying "5 minutes to slaughter", or things like that, but give a countdown, it draws rubber-neckers.

By now, some lvl 35-60 bystander will have pst'd u with an offer for help. even if they didn't, look around for them, they may just be watching... you don't even have to ask for help, just "Say" something like "high lvl help is welcome, else you can watch and laugh." They can't resist the temptation to help you. If you haven't been pst'd, just maintain ur countdown and go for it on the mark or soon after. Don't give onlookers the impression you're going to bail, or they'll leave.

The result is magic. Enjoy the XP, and it takes you to the next quest in Dustwallow Marsh, which involves some SERIOUS XP, as well as a ring that sells for well over 50s if u can't use it. Plus, you'll make at least one friend from among those who hear your pre-quest warning calls.

Here's how to do it with a lvl 30 priest:

Fear right after he gets out of the inn so he can't summon his friends, SW:P, Mind Blast, Mind Flay after the fear is over, Mind Blast again, Starshards/Mind Flay (bubble if needed) and he should be very easy at this point.

If you fail the fear just run, abandon the quest and try again.

Though I died. By the time I got to the door he was almost out of range. Hit him with a frost bolt and he trotted back with his friends. I poured arcane missles into him while all three wailed on me. Someone sicked a pet on one of them. I reached for the healing potion a split second too late and died but he'd given up so the quest was marked complete. Rezed and went on.

This tends to work the best on a busy day. Everyone around Menethil tends to help you out seens the guy runs through the inn.

I was a little nervous as to how me, at lvl 30, would fare against this lvl 34. I figured I could take him, so I tried. Unexpected turn, just as his buddies appeared, so did about 3 guys helping me. Of course. You're standing in one of the most busy places anyone can stand in, with lvl 40+ passing to and from Kalimdor, of course someone helps out.

Here's my tip, do this quest when many are on, and make sure you land the first blow against Slim.

I just did this quest, I ran outside, checked what I needed to do. Went back inside and targeted Taphoke Jahn just started crying and sent me back Mikhail. Quest completed, move on to the next lol.

at lvl 28 i solo'd this with my rogue, if you cheap shot him as soon as he gets out of the inn he wont call his body gaurds then its just a matter of beating him down till he crys the quest done

You only need to get slim down to about 25-30% health and he'll give up, so just target Slim and you should be good. Best to have a mage around to sheepify the one friend that joins you in the fight. Oh, and he's level 34, turns "fightable" once he hits the door.

I logged off before I started this part of the quest, but now Jahn just stands in the corner; I can neither attack nor speak to him. I really don't want to restart the quest, but I will if that's what it takes.
