There is a quest after this, in which he asks you to show the shield to "Mosarn" in Thunder Bluff; an experienced blacksmith. However, I searched all of TB but to no avail, and searched up the name here on thottbot and could not find it...does anyone else know about this?

I finished the quest, and clicked 'complete quest' in thunder bluff without reading what he said... and there was no real reward besides some xp, is there ANOTHER part?

It's called Suspicious Hoofprints, you get it by going back to the in, just out side the front there are some hoofprints, right click on that and you'll get the next part

i finished the blackened shield quest and went to mosarn, but i can't speak to him? what do i have to do?

This seems to be a dead end. The text from Mosarn basically says something along the lines of I make a ton of shields I can't be expected to remember every single one and stop there.. you get some XP and the mystery stops.. sad cause I was really getting into the story on this one.

After i get the acid and i c the name on the shield, i give the shield to the guy in Brakenwall Village then he says he "doesnt remember the name" SOME PLZ HELP

ok people... this is not the best storyline ever, but it does have an end and if u think about it, it does make sense.

I think Mosarn was the one who started the fire, his shield was there PLUS the hoof prints...tauren...hoofprints...understand?

that's what i think blizzard is trying to get at. SO DONT WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO FIND ANOTHER QUEST AFTER U GO TO TB...CAUSE THERE ISNT ONE...THE CHAIN IS COMPLETE

this quest works fine...

u get 3 quest from the inn.
when the poison has been collected and they are done, head southeast from brackenwall village. at the road you'll find a ogre with a quest, and he will lead you to Paval Reethe.
After some talking back and forward, 4 theramore guards show up and you need to kill them (i soloed as 37 rogue, easy)

return to brackenwall and now you get quest to go to thunder bluff where the quest finally ends at Mosarn at 'The hunter rise'

He was at 40,36.

He interrogates Reethe and you have to kill a few 3 41-43 humans.

This was the only quest yet in WoW that ive found where you need to THINK and not just READ. :D

Ok, i turned in the quest with the venom, and he told me to go talk to the other guy in the village. So i did, and now i'm stuck... i went over to the ogre to the southeast but he doesn't give me a quest yet... Am a missing a step in between these? Some1 help please!

I think the quest has to do with the kidnapped Stormwind King on the island with the elites off the coast, and more quest will be added on from I have heard rumours in the expansion. Just like Zul Gurub etc, sometimes quests dead end, but more is added when they have the content to end the story. somehow the burning of the inn will be linked with his abduction (the captors were hiding him or something and they destroyed the inn because the innkeeper found out, misplace suspicion by putting a Tauren Shield there to make alliance assume it was horde who destroyed the inn, and an alliance badge so horde assumes alliance (or alliance rebels) did it in.

Just a thought. Whether Blizzard ends this or not, I have a good story going!

Spoke to Krog, and he now says he doesn't know who Mosarn is, and the quest ends, thats it, no ! to show that more quests are available.
No trip to Thunder Bluff as stated by other people.

So went did hoofprints one, and on return he sends of a scout to follow tracks, and again thats it no more, the whole quest line just comes to an abrupt end.

Strange, is this quest line broken!, or am I missing something.

OK sorry, I thought that Krog would give me a quest to go find the troll who then sends you on to Reethe, like all other quest lines I've completed before!.

Ok, to summarise what everyone said:

The shield leads u down a 4 part quest:
*Taking the shield to Krol
*Taking it to the ogre blacksmith
*Finding the Acid
*Taking it back to Krol

The badge is a 2 part quest:
*Taking the badge to Krol
*Going to the ogre south east of Brackenwall and killing the humans.

The footprints lead nowhere so far as i can see. You merely take word of them to Krol and he sends away a scout, and thats it...

After doing all these parts, talk to Krol and he will tell you to go to Thunder Bluff to find the blacksmith.

the quest ends at the hunter's rise because the programmers at BLIZZARD that were working on it quit in the "Great Exodus" and thus the dustwallow quests were never truly finished on either side

Full Reethe Questline Info

It's a long story following Rethe's mystery on both alliance and horde side. I will tell the alliance side of things. I can also confirm it works in classic, you just need to get the required prequests. Questie will show the badge on the map, even if you didn't complete the prequests yet.

Alliance starts with James Hyal and the followup James Hyal OR They Call Him Smiling Jim (you can do only one of the prerequisites)

Once you got these prerequisites you will be able to loot the Blackened Iron Shield and Reethe's Badge as well as inspect Hoofprints in the burned down Inn in Dustwallow Marsh at 29 47.

The badge is really small sitting on a plank in the middle of the inn, the shield hangs on the chimney, the hoofprints are in front of the house.

These items start 3 quest:

Lieutenant Paval Reethe
The Black Shield
Suspicious Hoofprints

You are then send around 2 more times to other NPCs with the shield:

The Black Shield
The Black Shield

And the badge continues to the following questline:

Lieutenant Paval Reethe
Daelin's Men
The Deserters
The Deserters

There is no follow-up to this quest, though you do get a bit more from the Horde's perspective if you come back and do their side of the chain. The conclusion to the mystery was not added into the game until Patch 2.3, thus we won't be seeing it in Classic. That patch addressed many of the abrupt endings to quest chains in Dustwallow Marsh.

Questioning Reethe

After handing in Reethe's Badge you get an escort quest to help an ogre go talk to him.
However before you can get anything out of him some alliance show up and kill him for treason.
After all three of them has been completed horde gets a quest to go talk to the smith of the Blackened Iron Shield in Thunderbluff.
Unfortunatly the smith cant possibly remember for whom he made the Blackened Iron Shield so the quest ends there.

Hm, kind of hard to read, but it looks like the name Mosarn. Never heard of him. Maybe Krog knows. Krog knows many people.
