The Satchel is located off Ranazjar Island to the north east. Do not waste time going to the north to get to the coast go south around the large fortress then west to the coast. Once at the coast get in the water and head North West to find the Island.

This quest is a wee bit confusing because you might be thinking, like I did, that the satchel is at a location. It's not. Karnitol's Satchel is a random drop off off Slitherblade Sea Witches and Slitherblade Tidehunters. Don't bother grinding on other Slitherblade naga, only those two will yeild the satchel.

What I did was head out to Ranazjar Isle and kill Tidehunters and Sea Witches until the drop.

I FINALLY got this item after about 2 solid hours of chaining these mobs. North Island. 28,9 is the exact location I looted from.

Before doing this quest, get Sceptre of light https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=4467/corrupted-windblossom which leads to Book of the Ancients https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=4466/corrupted-windblossom which is in the same location. Saves a lot of swimming and double kills, tho you have to kill a lot of Naga anyway.

Got it off my sixth kill. Off a sea witch. I think it only drops off the sea witches and tidehunters. So if you clear the whole island which is mostly myrmidions and oracles... you get the idea.

Just so you all know, Tidehunters and Sea Witches are the only ones that drop the Sachel.

i agree.. this quest is the lamest quest ive done yet.. couldnt seem to get the drop.

You have to actually kill the nagas - the tidehunters and sea witches to be exact (coords 27, 9). I thought it was going to be a pack on the ground you had to loot...it's a drop. Fairly easy, though, I killed about 4 and it dropped for me. Be careful of the level 40 elite giant that roams the island, though.

The easiest way to complete this quest if you're under water is to kill Tidehunters and Sea Witches next to bubbly fissures. This way, you don't need a warlock, and you don't need to waste money on potions. So far I've found them at 31,15, 33,9, and 35,12.

Otherwise you can kill them on the island located around 29,8.

And make sure you're not wasting your time killing the Oracles, Myrmidons, Sorceresses, Warriors, or Razortails.

I got it underwater at 33,8.

It took killing about 10 Tidehunters to get the drop. I used an underwater breathing elixir to stay down and keep hunting them/waiting for spawns, and I would say that sped up the process dramatically. I'd very much recommend using one if you can.

I killed like 400 mobs, no drop..
the drop rate is only around 4% so if you wanna gain some exp by grinding and have a chance on a quest item as well, this is a great q..
this only works if you are just like me : Unlucky

Well I happened to be one of the unlucky ones I guess in the fact that the drop-rate for me stunk. I had wound up killing about 30 Sea witches and 30 or so Tidehunters on the big island and in the sea surrounding the island. I was about to just scrap it to be honest, but on my last witch who was near the Tree by the chest dropped it. People have said dont waste your time by killing anything besides the witches and tidehunters but thats like impossible due to the fact the island is crawling with all sorts of Naga and Sea Witches and Tidehunters only make up about 20% of the Naga Population on Ranazjar Island.

I didn't test the theory on weather the drop rate was higher near the bubbly fissures but i guess it couldnt hurt if you find it taking a long time on the island.

I got mine at loc 28,10 from a level 36 Sea Witch.

The minute I stepped into 36,12 and killed a tidehunter, I found it.

Got it from a lvl 37 Tidehunter in a temple-like ruin at 36,12. There's a bubbly fissure outside of the temple's southwest corner so that solves the breathing issue.

Like Feiorai that was my first kill at the location (tho I also killed 2 more tide hunters on the island).

I've killed all sea witches and tidehunters i could find on and around the island , for about 5 hours , still haven't got the drop and i am seriously thinking of abandoning the quest !

Think i've killed about 50 tidehunters and same amount sea witches !

I'm getting crazy !

tloc: 29,8 island is called ranazjar isle, youll get the zone discovery when u get on beach. killed about 14 witches and tidehunters. spawns are kinda rare, but on second spawn of an area near the south side of island i got it.

Well, today I was there w/ my #1 ALT who's a Lock, I was clearing the island when poof, dropped to the character selection screen. Tried logging back in & got "World Server Down" MSG. Ah man, WTF! Anyways, after trying again after a few mins, I get on & there's 0 monsters. Long story short I said in general chat what now, someone said explore, I said I'll go to the Horde town to the S & I bet there will be a respawn, so send me 50s when I die. Got there & a big pause. Yup, complete spawning. but I didn't die, sacced my voidy & dove into the water. Well, no $ in the mail since I didn't die, but several thanks for the spawn. When I got back toward the island, the 1st naga I killed, dropped the item. Yeah!

This is easily the worst quest I've ever done. Some of the people posting messages here are of people bragging how quickly they got the drop-- but guess what? Those people must be the minority.

3 hours, 50+ kills (witches and tidehunters, not including many more oracles, etc.) and four lesser water breathing potions later, I still have squat.

I don't trust any of the coords given here anymore. I've hunted near and in all of them now, and still haven't gotten the drop. Either I'm exceptionally unlucky or Blizzard made the drop rate waaaaaaaaay too low.

i seriously farmed that little island for 3 days, killing EVERYTHING on the island, even though i knew the sachel only dropped off sea witches(i was just bored lol) and just when i was about to go to bed, i killed my last sea witch and it dropped. drop rate=horrible.

I found the satchel all the way at 37, 13. In a tidehunter, he was in an "L" shaped ruin near a shipwreck. luck.

You're much better off killing Sea Witches on the island mentioned eariler, diving all the way down at 36,12 is a waste :S (and almost got me killed :P)

Swim out to 36,36 go straight down there you'll find a ruin looks like a house. Plenty of what you need there even a underwater breatheing fisher nearby.
Took me 3 underwater breathing potions to get the drop (1 1/2 hrs).
Cool sites.
Only a few on the island not worth the trouble getting to.

The satchel dropped on my first kill at the island.
I approached from the east along Y=10, and there were about 5 underwater mithril deposits along the way.

Killed countless Witches and Tidehunters. I finally gave it up after about 2 hours. I would have to say there has to be a glitch in this quest. The drop rate seems totally inconsistent.

It most definately IS a drop. Kill the Tidehunters or Witches in the area of 36,12 in Desolace. Took me a while but they finally dropped the satchel.

Well it just seemed to take forever.

I cleaned Island NW for a lil over an hour.

Got drop off 19th Sea Witch was killing 20th Witch at the time...

I HATE grinding these rare drops btw

Lot of contradictory information here, this is what worked for me and is easiest: go to Ranazjar island (28.8) and kill the tidehunters and seawitches there. I got it from the third tidehunter.

I found the satchel on a Slitherblade "TIDEHUNTER", located on the Isle where the statue and the treasure chest are. Coords: 29-9

I must be very lucky because i always see people complaining about this quest but i got the drop on my 3rd kill, and with my main got it in like 5 mins of killing.

For ppl with out map cords, its ez to see on the map a little island on the very NW of the map
about a 2 mintue swim

Solo'd this as a lvl 32 gnome rogue...and trust me, that's not easy, but damn fun! Died several times and thank the engineering gods for the Deepdive Helmet, but just wanted to let you all know that the above info is more or less correct; my satchel dropped from a lvl 36 Sea Witch on the SW side of Ranazjar Isle.

I stuck to Tidehunters and Sea Witches with the occasional oracle or myrmidon thrown in for good measure. My best advice is to be patient & choose your targets carefully. Take them out one by one and you'll eventually get the satchel. I had to stick to it for about an hour and a half, give or take the half dozen or so runs from the Kodo GY.

Got the satchel right away on my 3'rd kill, i killed 2 Tide hunters, and no luck, and then i killed my first sea witch i saw, and boom i got it, it actually took longer swiming to the little island than getting the satchel!

We got our's off a sea witch after many, many ridiculous kills.

Also, be advised that level 39-40 elite Deepstrider Searcher giants happen to make an occassional appearance on the island.

I found the Satchel not actually ON the island but off the island theres a little stone house underwater. I mean it looks like a house and youre like "uh a house?" Anyway there was a tidehunter there and he had the satchel. I KEELED HIM.

Ok heres how bad this is for me i started this as lvl 35 with with 3000 exp i went from lvl 35 to 36 and now im halfway to lvl 37 and I STILL HAVE NOT GOT THE SATCHEL! I have killed more naga than i can count this is BS either this quest is glitched or im majorly unlucky!

then i went a little south in the sea and killed 1 Sitherblade Tidehunter and got the drop.

The satchel is not found at chest at 36, 20 as erroreously reported below. One chest there begins step one of the Rackmore quest and another, step two of the Karnitol quest.

The satchel is a drop from:

Slitherblade Sea Witch (3.20%): Slitherblade Sea Witch Tidehunter (4.28%):
Slitherblade Tidehunter mobs are found near the island where Rackmore's treasure chest is at 29,8 +/-

I'm gonna say there's just as much chance that the satchel drops off a witch as off of a tidehunter. Got mine from a witch after tracking down the 20 or so Tidehunters I could find in about an hour. That's not to say I hadn't also been killing witches along the way. They're a lot more plentiful, and since the quest clue mentions them, I hunted them as well. But based on the majority of posts here, I was really more concerned about finding my next Tidehunter. After a little more than an hour, like I say, the satchel fell from a Witch after all on Ranazjar Isle just as that Deepsearcher giant came into the picture. Now, that may have been pure coincidence.

I finally got the satchel to drop from a Sea Witch after killing many tens of these things. I think I've had it drop from a Tidehunter when I did this quest with another character, so I assume any of the Naga on the island are fair game.

I had this drop off a Tidehunter directly on Ranazjar Isle. I probably killed about 15 - 20 general Naga in total, was just running around killing everything on the island and it dropped.

I bought a couple underwater breathing potions so that I could go to the underwater ruins thing at 36, 12 without worrying about air and it was basically a waste. I went to the ruins killed a couple sea witches in the area and the two tidehunters in the ruins. Was waiting for them to respawn when I got bored and thought I'd check out the island at 29, 8. I figure most of the naga there are placeholders for the tidehunters sea witches and other random naga so I just started killing every naga I saw. Killed about 3 more witches and 5 more tidehunters before it dropped for me. Didn't take more than 10 minutes.

I camped the island and surrounding waters for nearly two hours. I took a bathroom break and let my brother kill some, and he gets the damn satchel on the first kill!

I also got it on the first kill as soon as I stepped on the island. There was a sea witch there, chopped her up, and the satchel dropped.

I got my Satchel from a Slitherblade Tidehunter @ 33 , 10 just off the island at the bottom of lake. Was there maybe 20 minutes and only cleared the island once.

Completed as a level 46 Human Mage.

Went down in the area mentioned (Cosmos 36,12ish) and sent pet after a tidehunter. Got and add, but handled both with ease. One of the two had the satchel. Having a Hydrocane helped make it quick and painless too.

An hour and a half and 92 Tidehunters/Sea witches before Karnitol's Satchel dropped... not sure that I would do this quest again if I was to level another character.

Slitherblade Razortails share spawn points with Tidehunters and Sea Witches, so my strategy was to circle the temple on the island while killing all 3 of them. Took me about 150 nagas and 3 hours to get the drop.

Worked on this quest for about 15-20min. Finally got it. "Karnitol's Satchel" dropped from a "Slitherblade Tidehunter" at the "Ranazjar Isle", after farming a bit.

For a large zone without many quest almost unbelievably there are three quests to do on Ranazjar Island. When you do the first part of this quest chain you can pick up a quest to find two keys, the second is on this island. Dont do it yet. Go up on the hill above where you find this part of the chain and get a quest to go out to the island, summon and kill a named mob, but first you you have to get a scepter from a mob in the fortress. So...to save a lot of time dont swim out immediately like I did. When you go back to Nijel Point get the scepter (either going back or coming back), turn that in to the random Argent Dawn quest guy....then go out and do all three in one shot. I really wish Blizzard would finish some of the zones to make them more complete. I think they just got lazy and said lets just put 100 kill x mob quests in STV and call it a day.

In 2024 with Season of Discovery, this is still a horrible quest.
Very low drop rate for me. Must have killed nearly 100 nagas and still no drop.

Intriguing.

Well, we might not be without hope quite yet.

Along that same coast, but to the north near Ranazjar Isle, there're night elf ruins at the bottom of the ocean. A tribe of naga, the Slitherblade, make that their home. I think that'd be our best bet.

If a scouting party went that far south, then they must've been pretty powerful. If you're gonna find Karnitol's belongings, I'd start with the more powerful naga: the tidehunters or sea witches.
