If it were an item or cash, what would the required level be? If it were a 60 item, what do the level 1-59's that picked it up do? If it were cash, an amount significant to a level 20 would be pitiful to a level 60. Reputation is one of the only things that stay static throughout the levels. Though, a trinket (like the Arena Master for Gurubashi) may have been nice.

Hmm I flew to westfall - and my orphan poofed... used the whistle but nothing..

Ok - it took a bit of time but every time i used the whistle, my scrawny lil orphan appeared.

I (as lvl 59 pally) am getting 650 XP for each quest. Not a huge amount but it all counts.

Nothing difficult, just a way to see the world. The ice cream was the hardest - read the quest *carefully!*

Each little location you get 650xp, turning the kid in I got 1650xp.

In re: the ice cream...it's available in stormwind. The vendor is in the trade district to the right of the large tree next to the mailbox in front of the bank.

They could have atleast given some item..
Somthing like the changing form items, so you can turn into a kid,
Or maybe you could summon the little Orphan when ever you like, but nope no big reward.

It seems this year (2006), not only do you get rep and xp, but at the end you can choose between Mr. Wiggles (a pig), Speedy (a turtle), Whiskers (a rat), or 5g. Since this only happens once a year, you should probably get a pet. Whiskers FTW!

what happens if u keep the whistle, can u keep the orphan instead or does it disappear after children's week?

For the roleplayers: it's about the children
For some of us: it's about REPUTATION!
-first 3 quests: 50 rep each for all factions.
-next 2 quests: 75 rep each for all factions.
-final turn in: 200 rep each for all factions. (assuming you dont chose the gold bag, which is supposed to decrease your rep)
-------------------------------
Total: 500 reputation with all of your team's factions.

Sure you can get the experience easier somewhere else, but where can you get the rep? Also can be done prior to level 60 so for a low enough character even the experience can't be gotten easier.

I would rather take 5g than the childrens pet :) Think they'll miss the pet the most!

Think again.

If you take the bag of gold you can never EVER get one of the pets anymore on that character.
They are unique pets and even have names.
You can always get 5 gold, but you can get this pet only once, so you're crazy to take the gold.

Maybe if it was 100g, you could take it in consideration.... But 5g is really a rip-off compared to a unique pet.

Even though you have to wait a year i want to try collecting all the pets. And it would be pretty funny if that whistle worked after childrens week. I'd have my own pet orphen to stand around and look cute infront of all the ladies.

Ok, this quest isn't all that difficult, at least not if you already have the flightpoints. During Children's Week, pick up your orphan from the matron in the Cathedral District of Stormwind. Place the whistle in an action bar and pull him out only when completing another leg of the quest, otherwise keep him tucked away. Fly from SW to Sentinel Hill and ride out to the lighthouse on an island just off of the beach. (Past Moonbrook. Same place you encountered the ghost captain many levels ago. Beyond Sark and Old Murk-Eye.) Pull your orphan out AFTER it tells you the quest is complete. (He doesn't need to be out to complete these SW orphan quests... tho he will have to be out for at least one leg of the Shatt orphan quests which are not related.) Talk to your orphan to finish it off and tuck him away again. Ride back to the bird in Sentinel and fly to Lock Modan. I believe the town is called Telenaar. (I'd ck and make certain but the server is down right now. Forgive the mispellings of these place-names.) Ride out due north from Telenaar to the Dam on the northern end of the lake. Then ride to the middle of the dam and complete that leg of the quest. Return to the bird in Telenaar and fly to Menethil Harbor. Take the boat from there to Auberdine. Make certain to take the correct boat, there are two. At Auberdine, take another boat to Rut'theran Village and go through the portal there to Darnassus. Take the boy to the bank, which is near the portal, so he can see the tree. Talk to him and he'll give you the next two quests (you've already completed three now). Fly to Theramore or reverse your steps and take the boat from Menethil Harbor to Theramore. (I recommend flying there from Darn. Sure it takes 10-12 minutes, but less work. Go make yourself a nice cup of tea.) Enter the castle in Theramore and go all the way to the top to get the autorgraph of Lady Proudmore for the young lad. Fly to Gadgetztan. Ride out from Gadget to the racetrack north of Gadget and buy him an icecream cone. (You acutally have to buy 5. Only way they come.) The guy who sells the icecream is hard to find. Keep looking. He's behind a building, but definitely outside, not inside. Then you take the young fellow back to the matron in SW and choose your reward. Pig, Turtle, and Rat pets are your choices (and a sack of 5g for those who don't want a pet). They all have their own unique traits... except the gold, it just sits thre. Go with your instincts on the reward.

Even if you dont care for stupid pets or a silly 5 gold pay off, you should atleast consider that even at lvl 70, this Quest will give you 1138 (im human so -10%)Reputation with ALL alliance / horde factions. Exodar, Gnomeregan Exiles, Ironforge, Stormwind and Darnassus.

kinda sweet i admit :) i took the gold tho, my char's called Crazycatlady, only cat pets work for me.

handed mine in after completing all the quests.
At lvl60 i got rep and money for them all, not too bad.
When you hand this in you get to choose a reward.
Either a turtle, a pig, a rat, or a sac with 5g.

Someone else posted the pics of the turtle and pig on this forum somewhere.

P.S for the alliance you get the quests from a woman standing outside the orphanage in SW

I didn't have to talk to him in order to return my kid, the kid said he wanted to go back. And I picked up the quest in SW at the orphange.

Does anyone know if after you bring the kid back, if you can pick up another one, or if there is another part to the quest? Maybe the last part is level 60? And I agree Annick... Where is the Human pet? hehe

1650 xp for completing this one (returning the kid)
and "Your reputation with Alliance have greatly increased"

Talk to the Orphan Matron Nightingale. Start the quest, blow the whistle and turn the quest in to into the Human Orphan.

The orphan will offer you three quests

when these have been turned in, the orphan will offer
