If you don't find enough on your first time through, when the instance is finished, you can head back out through the instance and the mushrooms will have respawned. Just go pick from the newly spawned Mushrooms and you're done.

The Fungus Caps (Big mushrooms) are scattered throughout cave (dig site). They seemed to be located near most but not all campfires within the cave

Ok, I did the Reagent Run, and got the 5 potions. But I did not "automatically" learn hotw to make them. I had to talk to the quest giver again and he gave me a quest to get 3 Vessels of Dragon's Blood from the elite dragonkin in east badlands (Badlands Reagent Run II). After completing that quest, then he taught me to make them. So that "small" detail was left out... :P

The quest is worth 3450xp and +100 rep with Darkspear Trolls at lvl 43.

It can be completed solo without ever entering inside the instance, it also seems that most of the spawn points were static and did not change, so I simply waited around killing mobs while they respawned. You can also get more than one fungus from a spawn.

The very first spawn point from the back entrance for the Magenta Fungus Caps spawns 3 caps every six minutes. If you clear out the next two areas, you can loot this one three times in 12 minutes, and get the other three from fighting.

For gathering those you don't have to go inside the instance. I've gathered all 12 caps in the caves before the entrance to Uldaman.

As the previous post suggested.. no need to go into the instance.. simply make careful progress outside and pick up the fungus whenever you see one. Did this as a lvl 42 shaman

Confirmed in classic:

1-6 per loot. Static re-spawn spots inside and outside of the instance 6 minutes from loot to spawn the first time. After that each static spawn point is 10 minutes.

Starts and ends in Badlands

Kargath: Jarkal Mossmeld (top of the stairs in building)
Get quest Uldaman Reagent Run
Uldaman, don't zone in, find all the mushrooms in the caves, 12 in total. Magenta Fungus Cap
12 mushrooms, go back to Kargath turn in at Jarkal Mossmeld.
Accept Badlands Reagent Run II check inventory need Thaumaturgy Vessel Lockbox in inventory.
Open it, should have three Empty Thaumaturgy Vessel
Head to Lethlor Ravine (check map: https://classic.wowhead.com/maps?data=3:807522) find Scorched Guardians.
Use Empty Thaumaturgy Vessel on Scorched Guardians, channel, let it fully complete the channel, it creates a red Vessel of Dragon's Blood, kill Scorched Guardian. Repeat 2 more times.
Go back turn the quest in at Jarkal Mossmeld.

Complete! If you're doing alchemy, you just learned the Recipe for Restorative Potion!

Just did this 2-part quest chain to obtain the recipe on Classic WoW on 9FEB2020 @ 11:40pm CST...

As Horde
Step 1: First, you need to talk to to the guy inside the building in Kargath named Jarkal Mossmeld (top of the stairs once you're inside the building)

Step 2: Accept the quest Uldaman Reagent Run

Step 3: Make your way to Uldaman, but don't zone into the instance, you can find all the mushrooms in the caves that surround Uldaman, you need 12 in total. They are called Magenta Fungus Cap

Step 4: Once you have all 12 mushrooms, go back to Kargath and turn in the quest at Jarkal Mossmeld.

Step 5: Accept the quest Badlands Reagent Run II - check your inventory before leaving Kargath, make sure you have the item called Thaumaturgy Vessel Lockbox in your inventory.

Step 6: Open this item by right clicking it, it should give you three Empty Thaumaturgy Vessel

Step 7: Head straight east out of Kargath and go to Lethlor Ravine until you find the Scorched Guardian spawn locations (red elite dragons).

Step 8: Use (right click) the Empty Thaumaturgy Vessel on one of the Scorched Guardians, let it channel until it completes (this is important that you let it finish channeling) and creates a red colored Vessel of Dragon's Blood, then kill that Scorched Guardian. Repeat this step 2 more times.

Step 9: Go back to Kargath (make sure you have three Vessel of Dragon's Blood in your inventory first), and turn the quest in at Jarkal Mossmeld.

If you're an alchemist, you're complete! You just learned the Recipe for Restorative Potion!

I've heard about a newly discovered plant called the magenta fungus caps. They grow in clusters, deep in the Uldaman dig site; they may be elsewhere, but for now that's the only place I know they're at. I want to study their potential use in alchemy, and that's where you come in.

Find the magenta cap clusters and bring me a dozen caps. Be warned, the clusters may spew out poison spores if jostled.

Do this for me, and I'll whip up a batch of one of my famous restorative elixirs for you!
