This quest is the pre-req to the chain that gives Rogues the ability to use poisons for the Horde. It leads to

Fizzule is located at 56,6 and he will be ? red to you until you shoot the 2 flares in the air. Once you shoot the flares, walk up to him and use the "/salute" emote on him. He'll then allow you to talk to him and get the next quest:

You'll need a locking picking skill of at least 80 (might as well get 100) in order to complete the next quest, so I would recommend doing the Plundering the Plunderers (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=2381) quest to get your skill up to 100 before completing the next quest.

I just solo'd this thing as a lvl 22 rogue, but I doubt it's possible to do at a lower level. The dwarf even hints how to do it; "Use your abilities." The lvl 25 mutated undead guards will die instantly to an ambush to any damage, even if you just use a skinning knife. The guards on second floor will turn into slimes when you eviscerate. After two ambushes the elite mob at the top is down to a sliver of health. I just meleed him down the little he had left. np at all :)

Two 20 rogues can do this no problem.

1. The Key: One rogue gets close to the foreman while stealthed, this will distract him for about 10 seconds, during which time your partner can pickpocket without being detected.

2. 1st floor: It is fairly difficult to sneak in and ambush the elite guards, but possible to do this step solo in that fashion, run, and return to kill the 2nd guard. If duo, it is much easier to pull at range one of the guards while they're far enough a part so as not to BAF. Your partner ambushes, rinse and repeat.

3. 2nd floor: These guards are not elite, just kill them.

4. 3rd floor: these are the ones that die to eviscerate. They actually turn in to level 23 slime when you eviscerate, so a decent challenge at 20 unless you have above average equipment. You definitely would want to take them one at a time anyways.

5. Top floor: This is the only step you will absolutely have to have a partner to do at level 20. I'm not sure how the above poster soloed this even at his level unless he had vanish. His back is to you, so a 1-2 ambush (need 2 to drop him to about 5%) is pretty simple to pull off. We did run in to a problem after we killed the last guy, only one of us were able to get his head. So we waited for him to respawn, but you get a condition called "Touch of <his name", that for 7 days prevents you from sneaking up on him unless you die. So one of us had to die and we did it again.

Location is 55,5

The deal is you get in range of Fizzule and fire the flare gun twice, as the quest says, you will then notice he will turn green.

Now walk up to him and type '/salute'

He then rewards you and offers you another quest

They way you do this quest is target Taskmaster Fizzule, which is down on the ground, near the tower. Shoot two flares and when he turns green walk up to him and salute him. The quest after this one is where you have to clear out the tower.

Mutated Drones, lvl 25. Garrote will 1 shot them

Venture Patrolls, lvl 22. Couldn't figure out how to kill them easily so I just ambushed one of them and killed them both

Venture Lookouts, lvl 23. Ambushed one, then evis. They turn into a slime with a lot less HP.

Gallywix, lvl 23 elite. Ambush him and he drops to 50% life. Then backstab him, its the only way to do enough damage where you notice it. I used a target dummy got off 4 backstabs before it died, then used thistle drink from the previous quest. Gouged him, then backstabbed again. Then melee'd him down.

Good luck, I did this at lvl 20 as a troll.

The tower is located at 55,5 in the Sludge Fen in the Barrens.

Chest located at top of tower was orange to a lockpicking skill of 87.

If you approach the tower from the south, the Taskmaster or whatever will be under the northern tree (there are two trees). Target him, shoot two flares, wait, then salute him. A question mark should appear above his head for the next quest, which is "Mission: Possible But Not Probable".

Easily doable at level 26.

55x5. For those without cosmos, NW of the sludge pit in the very NE portion of the zone. Fizzule is outside the tower, to the east. Target him, shoot 2 flares, wait for him to turn green, walk closer, salute, and he'll get a yellow question mark.

Next quest:

Outside the tower, distract the foreman, pickpocket for the key. Very easy.

Level 1: the Mutated Drones have extra stealth perception. Don't try sneaking up on them normally. Distract them - it works wonders. Ambush. Instant death. Now either vanish or sprint out to reset the other Mutated Drone. Repeat.

Level 2: Just kill however you want - they are easy.

Level 3: Eviscerate turns them into a 50% health blob, not too difficult to solo at level 22

Level 4: Ambush takes 50% of his health away. Vanish does NOT reset him or his health (well, you have at least 3 seconds - I didn't wait longer to find out). Ambush, vanish, ambush, dead. No other hits necessary, a good dagger is not necessary, any dagger will do.

Pick the lock. 92 was sufficient for me.

I had Discarded my Flare Gun on accident. I abandoned "Deep Cover" and got flare gun again when i accepted "Deep Cover" again in Org from Rogue Trainer Shenthul....hope this helps.

Tower located at 55,5.
I soloed the whole thing on my level 20 rogue. just go up behined Silixiz (On the side of the tower), and pick pocket the key. Then for the level 24's inside you have to go up behined them and ambush them. One ambush will K.O. So once you kill one, use sprint and run out, then stealth back in and kill the other. All the other gaurds you should be able to kill like any other mob. The last elite is tricky. Ambush will take away half of his health but you have to kill the other half of him yourself, just use evasion and give it all you got.

Just fire the Flare Gun twice and he pops near the tree. Worked exactly like it should.

Fired twice. Saluted when he turned green. Nothing.

Walked up in front of him and saluted again and now I got the ? mark.

I snuck up into the tower assuming he'd be inside... after 10 minutes lurking around on every level I found him well to the East of the tower, standing under a tree.

Location of Taskmaster Fizzule in the Barrens is (55,5). Make sure you fire the flare gun twice then salute him to complete the quest (while having him targeted).

I got him to be an allie, killed a mob, then turned around and you could click on him for a quest.

For those without a mapping addon:

Fizzule is not near the tower. He is far north of it under a large tree. So - as you approach from the south, run past the tower on its west side, past the broken down contraption, also on its west side. You'll start to see Fizzule under a tree. I spammed a </target taskmaster> macro then put a mark on him to help me find him. There is a tower to his west that could be the tower that everyone says he is near but you can't even see that tower until very close to it. Hope this helps...

The 7 day lasting poison you get from looting the mixture can be removed by Anti-venom you can make in First aid.

This quest is bugged for me. He is friendly. I have tried relogging, no dice. He won't complete the quest.

Open the chat window and type: /salute
talk to Taskmaster Fizzule

Deep Cover

Travel to the Venture Co. Tower, north of the Sludge Fen and contact the Shattered Hand's covert operative, Taskmaster Fizzule.

When the tower is in sight, use the Flare Gun to signal your arrival to Taskmaster Fizzule. Fire off TWO flares, then approach Taskmaster Fizzule and perform the Shattered /Salute.

These actions must be performed in the correct order, as Fizzule will attack and terminate any person he does not recognize.

The Venture Company... Perhaps you have heard of them?

For one year we have worked on planting an agent deep within their ranks. Through much hard work and careful planning, we succeeded.

Recently we received word that the Venture Co. are planning something on a grand scale. Go north of the Sludge Fen to the Venture Co. tower and contact our undercover agent, Taskmaster Fizzule.

When you find the tower, use this flare gun, then approach Fizzule and show him the salute of the Shattered Hand.
