As with most of the quests that have underwater fighting, it's very easy to get overwhelmed by adds when you're swimming around in the ships. The easiest way to clear is to sit just outside the ship's opening and pull them one/two at a time. I saw a poor mage swim into the bottom floor of the boat and get mauled by like six mobs....

Becarful if you are a class with a pet. There is a bad glitch on the ship with the captian. Your pet will fall through the top deck that's half underwater and it will sometimes bring your target with you, which will then be out of sight. Not only that, the pet will probably get adds from below. So pull things off the deck before you engage it.

After spending a month on this quest, I finally completed it solo (as lvl 27 Druid) by fighting my way down to the bottom of first ship and finding a small niche not submerged in water - just behind lvl 27 Sailer and Snellig. I stayed in that spot and drew the two of them to me - with my attack focused only on Snellig. After a long fight, and a lot of self healing, I beat them.....

ONLY to discover, at that point, that there is an entrance in the side of the ship from the shore leading directly to their position. However, because I did not use this entrance I'm not sure if you draw a mob when you attack.

There's a hole in the side of the ship towards the shore - Snellig and another sailor or two are in here. If you walk in off the shore, you'll aggro them and they'll chase you. Kill Snellig and get the snuff box.

The mobs here are on a pretty quick respawn - killing enough sailors is easy enough if you pull one at a time. Killing the marines are harder, as they're inside the ship, more chance of getting overwhelmed.

Soloed this as a Lvl 26 hunter, tanking with the pet (who kept getting turned into a ghost humanoid with a curse!)

To get the rest of the mobs after Snellig, there's a breach in the stern of the ship (above water) where you can swim up and take the sailors one at a time if you're carefull...

This quest continues with a request after turning in the snuff box to take a key from the captain (found on the highest of the deck on the far sunken ship) and then open the captain's lock box (found at the opposite end of the ship at the bottom). This should be rated as about at 32 Elite quest as there are about eight undead marines who swarm anyone approaching the lock box. I have witnessed groups of high 20 to low 30 players defeated in attempting to reach the box.

Get the Intrepid Strogbox Key from Captain Halyndor.

The key is on the Captin, who is on the second ship, furthest from shore. The lockbox is on the bottom deck of the ship, the easiest way to get to it is to enter the ship from the west side. There is a huge hole on the bottom side of the ship right next to the Strongbox.

Just to be clear, there are 2 quests here. First is to get the snuffbox from the First Mate, the only named mob on the ship closest to town. Just kill him and loot him. Follow-up quest is to get key from the only named mob on the second ship, then swim down to the lockbox at bottom of boat and loot it. Player who was dancing on the box (see earlier post) probably was on the lockbox but doing the snuffbox (which is a loot) quest.

Tough, but I just barely defeated the Captain using Retaliation (no crits). Then patiently pulled (using throw) individual (or couples) of marines/sailors down by the hole. Fight till you kill one (run afterwards if there's 2) at a time. It takes patients as it only takes the wrong angle to aggro a bunch of the marines. Once you clear the 2 or 3 that are by the lockbox, you can swim in (and sadly suicide) to get to the box. Luckily it's not a timed open. Once you click it it opens w/o any wait. I was unable to escape, but I finished the quest. One death seems a small price to pay, especially that close to the graveyard. Good luck.

I got the box as a DROP from one the undead under the hull of the 1st ship.

It is not an actual box that u have to open. A DROP.

im a lvl 29 druid, and thought is was really difficult... but i managed to kill all the people i had to, but i couldn't find the snuffbox. as said before, its First Mate Snellig who carries the box, and after some deaths i decided to "commit suicide", by first: prowling with my cat down into the southern boat, until I found FMS, then i attacked him, and 4 other undeads attacked me.. but i managed to kill FMS and retrieve the box before i died.. i think its better to go in group in this quest! and underwater breathing is definetly a plus...

Getting the captain is really easy ... All you have to do is jump on the ramp at the back of the boat and you walk right behind him. Killed him without getting the attention of the other monsters ...

You can complete the quest all on the southern ship the main sailor who caries the box is located on the very bottom level. 14,24

For this part, tloc confirmed at 13,30.

You can get your kills at the other ship, but this is closer. As for Snellig's snuffbox, that is a DROP off of First Mate Snellig. HE IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SHIP.

Kill him.

Kill some others too.

Done.

snelligs snuffbox isnt under the second boat, First Mate Snellig is under the first boat, kill him and loot him - youll get the box.

The ship's main "entrance" is at <13,30>
But if you are like me, got through most of the ship and then died, only to find respawns that annoy you, there is a small hole in the bottom of the ship, right next to the coast located at about <12,32> that you can go in to just get directly to the captain without having to go all the way through the boat.. you will only pull him and 1 other guy.. making it pretty easy to get the box. you will still need to go through the boat and kill the others though. when i did this quest, i got to the very bottom and died, and all i had left to do was get the box, this trick saved me a looot of time re-doing the whole boat for nothing.

Easy as hell for a lvl 31 lock. coordinates 13,30 are confirmed...obviously. Even got Kellers Girdle in the chest beneath.

You can kill everything at that location 13,31). The Capt. drops the box and he is located in the water under the ship.

The next step of the quest will take you to the other boat to get the Intrepid strongbox key from Capt. Halyndor (lvl30). An easy way to get him is to run up the rudder at 16,23. You can pull him alone. i was able to complete this as a 30 pally fighting to at a time max.

Quest is fairly easy. Solo'd it at lvl 29.

Position of Snelig's Snuffbox : Dropped by "First Mate Snelig" who is at : 14,30

Other marines and sailors are within the ship. Which is also located at 14,30.

It wasn't that tough. I solo'ed it at 26 without too many problems. I wouldn't recommend it for non-tank classes without a healer unless you're very good at pulling, but it's not that tough.

I am really enjoying all the comments about how easy/impossible this quest is for people to solo. Mainly as about 90% are useless. Comments like ,"I solo'd this at 24 and it was a piece of cake","I tried soloing this at 27 and got owned, bring help." are useless and pointless. Please take notes from the people who posted useful messages.

A level 24 what ? there is a HUGE difference in the solo ability of classes, please post complete information. Also, if you are here trying to round up strats and knowledge, use common sense and realize that some people are super twinks and have insane gear for their levels. The average level charecter at a given level may fall way below the gear of the level 25 who just cake walked this quest. When posting, it would be most useful to include level , class, mana/hp/ac and basic strat you used that made this such a breeze. Coming here making a post just so you can puff your chest out is not helping anyone out.

Last but not least, play ability/style differs for everyone. Different strats on the same target will always yield different results, some harder some easier even though they may end with the same result. Don't get bummed out because the level 26 Hunter breezed thru this and your 27 and can't do the same. Try different approaches , its all part of the game.

I just completed this as a lvl 25 Druid and have to say it's not as hard as made out below. I used the tip about pulling the Captain and then worked my way through sailors/marines on both boats.

If you try to do this at level 27 solo, you're going to get your head handed to you (as I did). This should be considered an elite quest in terms of what kind of group or level that you need to complete it.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I solo'd it at 27, EASILY might I add, not tough, just can't be stupid.

Was able to solo this quest with a 24(leveled 25 in the process) pally with little to no issues, just overpulled and had to run off a couple times, but otherwise wasnt an issue, just be smart about it :)

the coords are 14,28 for the boat. there is 3 lvls easy to beat them on the top two levels but the bottom all 5 guys will get you when you attack them.

Well solo`d this as a 27 warrior found it quite taxing but if u can pull that git out the hull he will come (if ur lucky) with one other and BEZERK THE LOT OF EM :D sorted good quest enjoyed it

I wouldnt say this quest is easy, but it's doable, as a lowbie, if your smart about it. Solo'd as a 26 Dranei priest, killed a few of the surrounding mobs off first, then when i aggroed him, it was only him + 1 other mob, shackled the other mob, pained him, and went to town, he didnt hit too hard, just kept buffs on, and made sure to regen/heal w/e needed.

I died a lot as a level 26 warlock, but didn't really have too much of a problem other than I had to let my voidwalker get a few more hits in so the level 30 ship captain would attack it and not me. After that I didn't die again but came close at times.

Easy? HA! These guys lie. This quest is not easy. Just make sure you bring some friends because no lvl 24 can beat a mob of lvl 29's on their own.

The best way to wait for Fitzsimmons (if someone's already killed him recently and you're waiting for him to regenerate) is in the bottom level of the ship in the far left side.
You will find an air pocket where you can keep your head slightly below the water to be able to watch for him without worrying about your oxygen level. While waiting for him, kill the other nearby sailors and marines so you don't get ganged up on.
Also, don't worry about the sailors and marines walking around on the level directly above you.
You may be able to hear them but they can't see you.

if the guy came running towards u even though he was far from the other is because they're in a "party" so they will always attack at the same time, the aggro of the second guy had nothing to do with it.

I completed it fairly easy at level 29..Just make sure to be patient and pull then 1 or 2 at a time.

Was able to solo as well after finding capt in first boat to north pulled from shore in tear in hull to the front of vessel underneath a 27lvl baddie came with. Was nothing to pull saliors and marines from south ship tear in hull on bottom just remember to go up for air every so often I am druid so shapshifted to seal to get air.
If you kill all on south ship there is a treasure chest just inside tear worth going for dont be confused with the box for next quest though.

As long as you communicate well, keep to your pull spot and take either 'Endure Breath Potions' and or a Warlock you will be fine.

Warlock casts tank pet, use Eyes of the Beast to pull (this is of course if your a hunter) as general your pet has a bit more armour.

We had an excellent Group which consisted of 25 Mage, 25 Warlock, 25 Druid, 25 Hunter we ate through the quest like a hot knife through butter.

Try not to fight in the water, keep the inital scrap to the deck of the ships, using Eyes of the Beast to drag them up, Druid to get remove curse ready and their nasty spells too.

If you get more than one add stick to inital let Mage & Warlock do the AE spells.

At one point we had 4 lvl 28 Cursed Marines in a bad pull, yet with all members knowing the characters and good communication we survived and completed the marine quest in one tasty exciting fight.

On the 2nd boat you can single pull the Lvl 30 Captain, but you can also march on the Top deck and wipe the lot out for XP and drops :)

The final item in Stormwind is a bit poo and sells for a little amount of cash but the quest and fights themself are quite excellent.

The mobs are found in two half-sunken boats off the coast a short ways north of Menethil.

The first (southern) boat can be focused on for this quest, as it has a few marines, a lot of sailors and, most importantly, Snellig.

Snellig is an easy pull. On the land (east) side of the boat there is a big breach in the hull. Right inside the breach, under water, is where Snellig spawns. He is level 29. Not hard to solo, and very easy with a partner. When pulling him you may also get a sailor add (level 26 or 27) so be ready for that.

After killing Snellig and looting the snuffbox you can work your way into the ship, and make your way to the top deck (where you will not be under water). From here you can safely make whatever pulls are needed to complete the marines/sailors you still need to kill.

Since nobody has put the coordinates yet I thought I'd help. Ships are around 15/27 if you have Cosmos, otherwise simply run North of the city along the shore and you'll see them.

LoL, this quest is the easiest one ive done in a while, i soloed it with my level 26 shammy easy, the leves in the ship are 26-27 for the sailors, 28 for the marines, and 29 for the first mate

found this one of the more fun solo quests. there are a few tricks. snelig is in the bottom of the first boat on the beach to the north of town. you can do him two ways. first, swim up to the stern of the boat and wait knee deep in water for spawn of sailors and marines. the sailors pull easy one at a time. be wary of the marines who tend to spawn right on top oyf u while u are in combat. they are harder to kill, but at lvl 28 w pet still could do 2 at once. you can then work forward to the stairs and fight down stairs.
better strategy is after killing the req marines and sailors up top, to jump over and swim from the beach thru a tear in the hull about 1/3 back from the bow. hang below water and wait for snelig to show, which he did twice for me right at the tear. you can pull him back, and he goes down easy.
next you need to find the captain and get the key. he is on the northern most boat. trick here is to swim to the stern and walk up the big pole to the back of the deck. captain can be easily pulled back down the poll and handled.
next jump in and swim down to the bottom amidships and enter from outside 4 or 5 mobs, and then you open the box.

Theres a hole in the closest boat to the town at 14,30 fitzyboy is in there (if u dont have any program to get coordinates get titan and look on your map). the marines and sailors are easy to find i still had it left over as a lvl 31 druid it nearly got me lvled gets u 10,000 xp+ must do if druid ;)

I tried this with my level 27 rogue, and almost got my ass handed to me twice...Vanish saved me from having to make a corpse run the second time.

First I swam up to the gap/entrance on the north end of the ship (the end that dips into the water)...there are two mobs patrolling the deck there, a Cursed Marine & a Cursed Sailor. I waited until they were as far apart from each other as possible & used my gun to pull the Cursed Marine...somehow, his Cursed Sailor buddy came running with him (how huge is their aggro radius?).

I gouged the Sailor, then got lucky with a few big crits in a row on the Marine & had just killed him when his stupid buddy's Gouge wore off & he slapped me with his undead curse (Eye of Paxil or whatever it's called). Thanks to the low hit power that comes with being turned into a rotting corpse, it took me considerably longer to finish off the Sailor.

After that I hung out on land until the curse wore off, reapplied poisons, then followed a level 32 night elf hunter into the tear at the waterline...only when I got there, all I saw were 7-8 of identical-looking Cursed Sailors swinging swords at each other (including one midget) - ends up this player wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, and managed to aggro what seemed like the entire ship's crew. Oh, and both he & his pet had been cursed (which explained the midget Sailor I saw...it's pretty funny that animals still turn into mini undead humanoids when hit with this curse).

I pulled one Sailor into the corner with the air pocket (mentioned in a previous comment) and start hacking away. The hunter & his pet promptly died, so the whole undead gang turned their attention to me, and they brought Snellig with them this time. My HP started disappearing really, really fast, and one of them cursed me again, so I vanished, then hearthstoned back to Stormwind.

Spent a few minutes in Stormwind freaking out noobs & laughing at a couple funny Local Defense channel messages ("OMG! I just saw an undead rogue! Horde in the Trade District! HELP!") before calling it a night.

Next time I'll try this quest with backup.

It was not hard nor easy,and I died like 4 times because my pet would pull more than I had intended and with that curse that added to my casting time made it harder,but it wasn't to hard. (I did at lvl 32)

I followed gaeolas' directions, and it was a success. I solo'd this one with my level 27 mage, only died once. Thanks gaeolas for the good info.

I am the sole survivor of the ill-fated Third Fleet of Kul Tiras, wrecked off the coast to the north. But although I'm the only member of the fleet still breathing, I'm not the only one still walking about! For on one of our ships was hidden a great, and terrible treasure, and the eerie power of it keeps the souls of my brothers trapped within the ships' rotting hulls.

But if you can free some of my brothers, then perhaps you can break their curse.
