To complete each tower, use the torch on the brazier, which is located on one of the corners of the tower on the same face as the entrance.

Hey, this was one of the easiest Elite quests ever for me as a Lvl 49 mage.

All you gotta do is, clear the entrance of every tower of possible threats. After you did this, there is one lvl 50 Elite guard at the top of it.
Well just sheep it. Search for the small thing that needs to burn. Use the torch. Sheep the guard again, and move away slowly.

I used this at all 4 towers and no problems at all.

Sheep is the key as a mage.

Big exp reward for very little work. I liked this quest!

i solo'd this quest at lvl 49. just get on a horse and run.

yes you'll get agro but run and shield if you can and must. use the torch while the elite atacks (its instant on click) then drop off the tower and run.

watch out for lookouts, the elite gave up on me but the lookouts didn't. i dies on the last tower after jumping into the cauldron. the lookout still got me

I did this one the old fashioned way...killed them all, walked leisurely to the brazier, lit it, walked leisurely down, mounted, and rode to the next.

Took a total of maybe 10 minutes. The only one I had difficulty with was the one across the rope bridge and that was because I drew the aggro of all three of the guys guarding the bridge, AND the pat....

Nice rewards, but someone should warn about that dragon...I about shat myself when I looked up to see a dragon peering down at me like a snack. Then I realize that he's the original quest giver and he flies off.

Solo'd as a lvl 55 hunter by killing trash mobs and the elite guard at the top. Climbed up the first tower and couldn't figure out where the brazier was so then did the second tower. Still couldn't find the brazier. Went up the third tower and -DOH!- the brazier is the tiny little thing on the corner of the wraparound platform. Did the forth tower and had to go back and do the first two again!

First of all the positions:
Northern Tower Ablaze: 33,54

The tactic is:

Just run. Run with the torch as your weapon. If you are a warrior: Defensive stance. If you are a rogue no need to stealth. Running FTW. If you lose. Just think: I cant see any enemys.

Okay, completed the quest, but is this another one of those stupid useless items that you have to worry about throwing away? Is it cool to just toss it now?

Once you turn in this quest, and the dude turns into the dragon and flies away, the footlocker next to him becomes clickable. That's where I got my Black Dragonflight Molt! Along with a few greens and some vendor trash. All in all, a decent amount of coin for a small bit of running around.

distract the sentry.

kill the lookout on bridge or sap if u must.

After you complete the quest, don't forget to grab the chest that's right next to Kalaran. It contains some decent crap, as well as his molt which you apparently need for another quest.

I soloed this quest as a lvl 46 Paladin, the first towers where wery easy just kill elite, but the eastern tower was the tricky one, I just run straight through all the mobs used repentance on the elite, equiped the staff and Lit the torch, and after that i used Divine Protection and runned like a mad man

Just wondering the same as many people, for what do we need the black dragonflight molt?
Same question about this staff, should I toss it or add it to my collection of junk in the bank with which I don't know what to do?

there is a small bowl on the second floor that you have to light it with.

Rogues/druids should very easily solo this even if it's red. Just stealth up the tower, find the little circular braizer on one of the corners, and with the torch equipped light it. Other classes can probably just charge up with the torch equipped and light it quickly enough, it's an instant cast, I was caught in stealth one time and was able to do that fairly easily.

I dont know why all of you people just stealth or use some other means to not kill the 50 elite. Did this with my 50 lock and it was easy as hell. Simlpy killed the sentry.

BTW the 53 druid could easily kill the sentry. Its a waste of xp not kill it.

I did this as a level 47 Moonkin druid. It was incredibly easy, especially as there's only one elite in each tower. For each tower, I cleared the ground and then pulled the elite down off the tower, rooted him in the ground and blasted him with starfire, moonfire, insect swarm, and wrath until he was dead.

The only tricky one was the tower on the island, which is only approachable via a bridge. There are more ground guards for this one than the others, but I stealthed through the main group, went over the bridge, killed one of the guards waiting outside the tower while the other was on the bridge and then killed the other one when he came back. Then I killed the elite and was done.

The whole quest took about 15 minutes, only because I had to travel to each bridge. Easy quest even for 47 level.

Maybe it was because I started this zone a little later (at 52), but I stealthed past the elite, lit the flame on each tower and ran off without being engaged by the elite.

If you get almost over the edge of the tower, you can mount up and take off faster.

Of course, if you have improved sap, you should have no issues doing this quest at whatever level.

i thought this was really easy. i was a lvl 46 pally. well i was falloing a group that was doing it they killed the stuff and i lite the post ablaze hehe i thought i would not be able to get the word ablaze in this thing hehe i rule

The locations:

Northern Tower: 33,54
Western Tower: 35,60
Southern Tower: 44,60
Eastern Tower: 50,64

Note:
The towers are around the western/southern part of The Cauldron (outside of it). You actually can see the icons on your map.
Once on a tower platform, equip your character with the Torch of Retribution, and right+click on the sentry brazier (a tiny thing on the platform).
This part of the map is populated with roaming Golems and Dark Iron dwarves. Just watch out for the elite 47-48 Dark Iron Sentry atop of each towers! And look around for a chest or two. Voila!

Starts in: Searing Gorge
Reward: Coice of an item (one of the three choices was: Dragonflight Leggings -cloth-) + 7600exp and 2.30g

For this quest you need to go to each of the four towers and "light" them. At the towers you will find one level 50 elite mob inside it and several nonelite mobs right outside it, best to kill them before entering tower because they always aggro. After killing the mobs equip the "torch" and you will find a little cup on the platform that is what you light.

Just clear the trash mobs outside the entrance, equip the torch, and sic your pet on the elite sentry. Run up behind the pet, take a right at the top of the ramp, take another right, run to the corner, light the brazier, jump off, call pet back, and run till you lose aggro. You don't even need to kill the sentry. (I fear kited the first one without too many problems before I figured this out.)

Decided to do this one head on. Stealthed, avoided ground level guards, walked up the ramp. Stunned the L48 Elite, took him out, walked around the platform, equipped torch, set ablaze. Re-equipped daggers, stealthed out, went to the next tower, repeated x3.

Lock solo at 50. no deaths... jst take hid behind my void for the elite ran up set fire and jumped off. watch your jump on the east tower, kinda missed the bridge and fell down. 2598 dmg

Quest bugged for me atm. I lighted that object and smoke came up from the tower but it was not confirmed in the quest log. Same case as Smoldering ruins of Thaurissan quest..

You don't need to fight any elites for this quest.

1. Equip the Torch of Retribution.
a. If you don't have it, talk to Kalaran Windblade until he enchants it. The torch will appear as an item floating in midair that you must right click to retrieve.
2. Run up the tower. Yep, there's an elite guard. Yep, he attacks you. Stun, sheep, or stealth if you're worried about damage; otherwise, keep running. They do hit quite hard (180 damage per swimg to my Plate-wearing lv 48 Paladin).
3. Find the braziers on the ledge. They look like small metal rings, and can be right clicked.
4. With the torch equipped, right click each brazier. It lights instantly! Now get out, because there's probably a lv 48 elite chasing you.

Super bonus internet cool points: I can solo the lv 48 elite that guards each tower, using my lv 48 Paladin, but they hit me for about 180 damage a swing, and I have 3600 armor without a shield equipped. I keep Judgement of Wisdom on the sentries at all times, so I don't run out of mana healing myself. Start to heal yourself the moment your health hits 1000 or 50%, whichever is greater. The added damage from Seal of Command and the armor from Devotion Aura were lifesavers until I realized that I didn't need to fight them.

This is very easy for a hunter. Send your pet on the elite guy and just run past and around to set the fire. Very easy indeed.

Hah, i was a mage 49, mana shield and ignore all, run up there, while running "use" the torch and jump down. On landing use blink to dont take dmg from falling and just run away and wait for the mobs stop running after you ==> quest done. =D

I solo'd this quest as a 52 Shaman WITHOUT skipping the elite guard. He is actually not that hard to take down as long as you have one of two things. Good defence or good damage for quick kill. I just dropped my defense, and windfury totems, threw on lightning shield and then just melee'd him with earth shocks after every cooldown. He would drop before getting me past half health and half mana.

P.S. If you don't have cordinates mod. Just look on the map for the only 4 towers around the middle crater.

I was unable to complete the quest. Found the towers, killed the elite no problem... but this bowl that appears says that I need "Torch of Retribution" where as I have "Beacon Torch". Anyone know what the problem is or what I'm maybe doing something wrong?

I do that with 52 mage without any dmg from guards... just sheep down guard, FN up guard, use torch and jump down... did that 4 times...

This one can be pretty easy if your a hunter, warlock or mage. Kill the mobs around the base of the tower, usually pretty easy. When going up the tower, send in the pet to engage the elite or sheep/trap it. then run around the tower, light it up and jump off. Run until you loose aggro and that's it. No deaths for me and minimal damage.

after dying once soloing i decided just to kill the low level guys then i will equip the torch, run up pass the elite guy click on the icon burn it and jump down...that way for us that cannot take an elite guy alone ( p.s. warrior which cannot heal himself) it is easier..hope it works

On the upper platform there is a small dish in only one corner. Click on it lick you would to activate anything in the game. That then set the tower on fire. You must have the 'Torch of Retribution' fitted to yourself and use it.

Very easy as a Rogue at level 48, just stealth in, sap the elite if he is near the fireplace and then stealth or vanish if you sapped.

When done, talk to the squire again. He gives you a quest called trinkets. He will put a chest on the ground. Click on it twice. Once for quest, once to open. Got some nice items.

Nice and ez quest good money and good experience. Im a 51 rogue and i can take the gaurd but i have to pull out all the stops, can be kinda hard. Ezer to sap or sheep them,if not get a group together.

The towers arnt hard to find, u should see them on ure map if u have explored the cauldron. They are all actually pretty close together

What you're looking for are very tiny clickable things on the floor with the sentry. You have to have staff equipped, and it instantly completes so you can run if you need to and can't solo elite.

Druids can solo this in bear form. I did it without needing to heal but I was 51.

As a solo mage I was able to sheep the Elite guarding the top of the ramp and light the fire thingy with the torch then drop down and run off without killing the Elite mob.

Very easy for stealth capable classes like druid and rogue. Just stealth up each platform past the elite dwarf guard and always to the right and around the ledge. The item is nowhere near the dwarf so you can break stealth to use it and go to the next.

If not stealth capable bring a friend or wait until around 50 to take down the single elite if you cant sneak past or polymorph/root them.

I came here because I needed the Molt that is a reward for this quest in order to use for another quest.

At level 53, this NPC only offered me 1 quest called Divine Retribution which had me listen to a tale. Once turned in, I was able to pick up the next quest called The Flawless Flame. A kill quest (4 Heart of Flame and 4 Golem Oil). Then Forging the Shaft. Then The Flame Casing that dropped after 3 kills. Then Torch of Retribution. Get torch and then the Squire Maldrake quest which has you talk to the guy next to him which gives... Set Them Ablaze quest! Eureka!

This quest chain provides a good chunk of XP but is so annoying because other people turning in quests to him cause him to disappear constantly and you have to wait for respawn to progress.

Listen well, <name>. While the four towers can never be destroyed, you can use the torch of retribution to set them ablaze for a very long period of time: A fire that no element or force can subdue.

While they are ablaze, no guard or sentry unit can inhabit the watch posts and thus, their first line of defense is nullified.

You must enter each tower and use the torch of retribution within their fortifications. Beware the elite sentry units of the Dark Irons, <name>.
