In order to get this quest, you must have completed all the OOX escort quests in Tanaris (Find OOX-17/TN! -> Rescue OOX-17/TN!), Hinterlands (Find OOX-09/HL! -> Rescue OOX-09/HL!), and Feralas ( -> ).

For those that are not aware, if you do all 3 of the OOX quests from the random "eggs" dropped in Feralas, Tanaris, and the Hinterlands, this quest will open up after turning in the last one.

There is nothing to do really, just click the NPC, take the quest, and earn your mechanical chicken!

I highly recommend this quest for everyone who is interested in gaining a lot of XP for pretty much nothing. The actual escort quests are quite a fun and a nice challenge. I've had a lot of fun earning my metal chicken and I'm sure you will too :D

What is the chicken good for? Is it just a pet that follows you around for show, or what?

I did the ones in the hinterlands and in tanaris, but I never got the beacon to drop in Feralas. It might be worth farming for if this chicken is good for anything.

The 3 quests leading to this where pretty fun actually, done them all on the same night, got help for 2 and aggroded everyone on my mount for the last one. The XP for doing all 3 and then the final 1 was great, but the rewards where a bit crap for a lvl 52 mage, and the chicken, well I am selling that as I got a real chicken from that special quest in Westfall.

I completed this at level 52 and got 7100 XP and my reputation with Booty Bay greatly increased.

Did this at 50, Got the reputation not sure about the EXP though didn't really check. Still got the chicken =)

At lvl 53, I got 7100 exp, 500 BB rep, and the chicken, which you can vendor for 10S if you like, or if you didn't use and bind it to you, you could try the AH.

Is it only engineers who can do the final quest for getting the mechanical chicken, or is it avaliable to everyone?

WoW Classic macro to tell you which quests you have/have not completed in the chain to get the Mechanical Chicken.

You've recovered three of my OOX homing robots! You've gone above and beyond what you needed to, so I will give you something special for all your help. It is a miniature version of the very same robot that you have come to know and love, the OOX!

I normally wouldn't let anyone have such a potentially lethal device, but you've been a real help. Besides - the combat mechanisms and the homing logic on this one have been disabled.

Other than that, it's an OOX by golly!
