Theirs some yetis along the path between Timbermaw Hold and Everlook, Do this with Wild Guardians because their a lot of Owlbeasts out their. If you go kinda northeast of Everlook, theirs some yetis out their.

Got this quest as a 52 marksman hunter. When I got the quest it seemed easy enough, kill yetis that are right outside everlook. My cat bangladash from STV kept getting killed and i was having to melee so this was not working out. I flew to orgrimmar unlearned my talents for 5g and put them all in Beast Mastery. Went back and my cat dominated, took me 1 and a half hours to finish this quest when I got back with beast mastery. Good luck this quest takes a long time.

Got this quest? My recommendation is Do Not do it, reasons are as follow:
- Drop rate is really low...not even 20%
- Waste hours of worthless killing, when you can be doing some other quest that gives more exp rewards
- The fact that the end reward is garbage and the exp/time ratio will never come close to doing other quests.

in my opinion you should definetly do this quest, reason being is if u do a quest with a 20 percent drop rate thats just more exp, try around 65,41

This was a pain as a Frost Mage lvl 53. They have a lot of Frost Resistance, so beware ;)

I was unlucky... Took some hours to get them all. Took about two hours or so to get 7, and then 5 min to get the last 3. Just my usual luck.

The drop rate is abysmal. I would recommend that, at least, melee classes skip this quest, as it seems the Yetis have high armor and thus are not a good grinding mob. It's perhaps worth doing for the followups.

There is also a cave at 68,42 full of ice yetis and more tightly packed too so easier to work through. I'm on a PvP server so I did most of the quest in there to avoid ganking, you might want to do the same. :)

The drop rate this was horrible for me...I lost count of how many I killed before I got the first one.

And they're are pretty resistant to frost attacks. (For once a good thing I'm a fire mage)

I also had no luck getting any drops from the cave location. However, when I rode along the road between Everlook and the Timbermaw Tunnel, I killed off the wandering Rogue Yetis and the drop rate was much better! Finished under an hour.

The real reason to do this quest is because you are an engineer and want the tranquil mechanical yeti. You finish this quest first and then this quest https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=8798 appears and you get the recipe. Enjoy!

I had high drop on the ice yeti's located by the Raging owlbeasts, but when I went over to get some Ragged and saw the Rogue Ice Yeti I didnt get any furs.

I have the quest "Are we there yeti?" in my log, which requires me to collect 10 thick yeti furs.

While having this quest, according to my kill log add-on, I killed and looted:

- 2 Rogue Ice Thistles
- 7 Ice Thistle Yetis
- 5 Ice Thistle Patriarchs
- 7 Ice Thistle Matriarchs

And looted no, I repeat NO thick yeti fur.

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Well after killing 30 and not getting any fur, I ran towards Everlook because I wanted to see what would happen if I abandoned the quest and obtained it again, because I thought I was bugged. On the way back I saw one and thought, ok last try before I reset the quest. Lo and behold, got my first fur!

Final tally (all those kills have been made while having this quest, and I stopped counting after I got my last fur):

Rogue Ice Thistle: 4
Ice Thistle Yeti: 46
Ice Thistle Matriarch: 23
Ice Thistle Patriarch: 18
****Total Ice Thistles killed: 91

That's 9.1 kills per fur...

People, read the quest text.

If you killt he yetis *to the southeast of Everlook*, the drop rate is very, very good.

The poor drop rate is from yeti's in areas not specified in the quest. There is no doubt IMO that Blizz purposely lower drop rates if your not in the area they stipulate in the quest description.

South East it says. Pop off to about 66,44 give or take, you have as many yeti's as you need.

Drop rate is about 1 in 5 20% give or take consistently.

Not to mention about 300xp per kill , some skinning if that's your gig.

65.45 thats the spot i also went in the cave a little bit its nice for grinding but the drop rate aint that really nice but since i'm rested out the whole lvl i can get my xp up here fast also

Like all other quests that have notoriously low drop rates, I found a few techniques apply: (1) Pretend you don't want to find the targets or their drops (2) Go to different places; don't stay in the same place and grind (3) Have multiple quests (preferably in different zones) and accomplish only 1/3 of the drops of each quest at a time (4) Always try for mobs that are as much higher than you as you can kill (5) Whistle a happy tune!

Followed the quest's instructions and it only took me about 30 mins to get all 10...

Go southeast of Everlook (66,42) and kill only the ones called "Ice Thistle Yeti" (NOT patriarchs or matriarchs). The drop rate was about 1 in 5 for me.

Coord: 65,41. The Furs only drop off of "ice thistle yeti" and "rouge yeti". The valley at those coord. outside the cave is crawling with them. There aren't many in the cave.

horrid drop rate.. cleared the whole cave and got 0. managed to get 3 on mobs outside cave.

seemed to have better luck at moon horror den. about 10% drop rate.

best drop rate is with the rogue ice thistles. 50% drop rate. they are found on the main path from felwood

The drop rate is so bad that I dinged 60 before even getting 10. I was about halfway to 60 when I started. Needless to say I dropped the quest cause I no longer needed to do grind quests for xp.

i just dinged 55 and came here 4 bars in, im 2 bars away from leveling 56 and only have 5 yeti furs, ive been awake since 5am and it is now 7am and not 1 has dropped :\

Avoid the Non Yeti. I also got some good drop rate from the yeti just north of everlook. also 50% drop rate around 66,41

I seems like the drop rate is low for me... But maybe it's because I can't use the spells I'm specced for. As a frost mage, these guys resist about everything. So I have to use totally unspecced Fireball and Scorch. To say the least, killing these things is tedious.

55 Mage, did it solo. drop rate sucked BIGTIME ... and i really had problems with those yetis resisting ALL of my hits (pretty frustrating) good XP and g anyway ...

Pretty slow droprate, but on the plus side one of the Ice Thistle Yeti's dropped an Eye of Flame so it's all good. :)

I don't know why everyone is saying it's a horrible drop rate. It's pretty average as compared to other quests. Just make sure you are killing the Ice Thistle Yetis, NOT the Matriarchs or Patriarchs. Those do NOT drop the fur, ONLY the Yetis do. Took me maybe 15 minutes. I got 6 right off the bat, then the other 4 took longer, but it certainly did not take me hours.

I had a drop rate of no less than 50%. Clearly you are not hunting the correct mobs. It must be a Ice Thistle Yeti and not a Rouge Ice Thistle, furthermore you need to go to Ice Thistle Hills right outside the cave.

This was a fast and fun quest chain.

as everyone has said, horrible drop rate. I had rest xp at the time and got bout 600xp for killing the 56 so is a nice quest to get some quick xp. I was 57 at the time

Good about 6 furs in 30-40 kills outside.

Got my last 4 furs inside the cave in 5 kills,
so maybe its better to kill inside at 67.41

well i tried the ice thistle cave and killed like 60 of em for 6 thick yeti furs. Then I went over to the area by moon horror den and next four I bumped off yielded 4 thick yeti furs.....go figure!

i haven't done this one yet, but i have to wonder if the drop rate is better if you're a skinner? i've had a lot better luck obtaining quest skins from skinning than just the drop rate.

When doing The Mark of Quality in feralas (collect 10 Thick Yeti Hide), I was able to accquire the hides through skinning, which seemed to have a much higher chance then the drops (I got 3 drops and 7 skinning). It seems likely that skinning would be useful in this quest as well.

Too bad I didn't read the quest well enough. The Ice Thistle Yetis (southeast of Everlook, according to the quest) drop them about 50%.

This is far better than the Rogue Ice Thistles, which I was hunting because they were close to the chimaeras, which I was also hunting for horns. Definitely stick to the yetis in Ice Thistle Valley -- but not the Matriarchs or Patriarchs.

A waste of time... skip this if you want fast quests. Take this if your grinding anyhow..

I was half way to level 59 whit my mage. When i had 4 furs i got level 59 and when i finaly got 10 i was allmost 60 and when i completed the quest i got level 60

I was killing the Ice Thistle Yetis at Ice Thistle Hills for over an hour and no fur dropped.

I had better luck killing the Rogue Ice Thistles from the Frostfire Hot Springs area to around Lake Kel'Theril . They are spread out so there's less of them around compared to the area with the Patriarchs and Matriarchs, but I found the drop rate was much better from the Rogue Ice Thistles. Basically every Rogue dropped a Thick Yeti Fur, or at least like every other one which is still better than the Ice Thistle Yeti's around the Ice Thistle Hills.

Here's where I found some Rogue Ice Thistles.

44,36 (two at that spot up in the mountains)
45,38
51,37
52,37
53,36

I'm not suggesting this is the best method or locations, just offering an alternative to grinding at the Ice Thistle Hills.

Side Note: Found the Rare Mob, Mezzir the Howler, around 30,38.
He dropped Crusader's Armor of the Wolf (lvl 50 mail chest, +16 agi, +16 spirit).

I thought the drop rate was awful for the quest items.

however, in the same time it took me to get 10 furs, I got 2 VERY nice blue drops, a bow and some plate armour. i wouldn't mind farming them for more blue.

This quest line is plagued by horrid drop rates. These furs drop very rarely, so expect to be killing yetis for a long while to complete both this quest and the one immediately following.

sucky drop rate man.. possibly killed 100 of them all over winterspring for 3 furs and i didn't kill the wrong kind either.. the worse thing is i only got 1 green drop from them too.. aww, waste of time..

Southeast of Everlook is the spot to go. Plenty of yetis, high drop rate. The Matriarcs and Patriarchs don't drop the hide, so don't be suprised if you kill a bunch of them and don't get any!

The best way to do this quest is to kill Rogue Ice Thistle yetis in western winterspring.
I first went into the cave to the east, but after 50 kills I had 3 Furs. Even though Questie shows that the matriarchs/patriarchs drop the questitems, I didn't get a single drop off them.

I recommend creating a "/tar rogue ice thistle" macro and spam it while you run a circle from donova to the frozen lake, since these are a bit spread out.

All the people complaining about having so many kills and only a couple drops, I guarantee you were killing matriarch and patriarch. Particularly if you went inside the cave

There is an outdoor area near 67, 44. You'll see a blue cave. Go just south of that and there are tons of yeti's I finished this quest in less than 15 minutes

Killing a mixture of all of the yeti types found southeast of Everlook, I can confirm that the drop rates are pretty equal across the board. They cannot be much higher than a rate of 1/6 to 1/7. This will be a grueling grind.

Definitely had much better luck with Rogue Ice Thistles west of Everlook for furs. Stay away from the cave with the Matriarchs and Patriarchs. Go grind up and down the road to the west and you'll have them much more quickly. Also a rare yeti over there level 55 to look out for. Spent 20min at the cave (not in it) killing the plain Ice Thistle Yetis and nothing. Rogues dropped them all in about 30min plus I knocked out the owlbeast grind quest along the way "Wild Guardians".

On 13-Aug-2023, I killed about 20 of the Ice Thistle Yetis to the southeast of Everlook, and got ONE (1) Thick Yeti Fur.

Then I ventured out and killed the Rogue Ice Thistles near the road to the west, and got 4 Thick Yeti Furs in 10 kills. Either I had a run of INCREDIBLE luck, or the Rogue Ice Thistles have a MUCH higher drop rate.
