Take the elixir in the graveyard of gadgetzen, it will kill you but you suffer no damage penalty on gear. From there head due north to the mountain range and find the ghost(54,24). He is hard to see due to the colour contrast of being dead, and the exclamation mark above his head is also grey, but he is there. Speak with him to continue questline.

Just finished this quest, so here's how it went. I went to the graveyard and drank the potion, which seems to have the nasty side effect of making you drop dead on the spot. From there, go almost straight north. I found him at 54, 24. He's tough to spot cause he's a ghost (black and white and faded), and the death effects (the whole world going black and white) don't make it any easier. On top of that, the telltake yellow question mark is also grey, but I assure you, he's there. Then, with linken's sword, go back to the graveyard as he instructs, and you'll have a "use" mouseover on the large tombstone, and complete the quest.

Make sure to go back to the Lady in Winterspring and get the blasted sword.

If you use up your last Elixir of death you can still complete the quest as long as you have the sword.

I went outside the graveyard and let an animal kill me. While in wisp form I went and found the guy and completed the quest.

You can now see the yellow ? and it will also appear in your mini map. After you drink (and die) go straight north you cant miss it. Just remember when you die you loose all your buffs.

if you're having a hard seeing in death mode, just go to your video options and turn the death effect off.

just confirming what was mentioned earlier about not needing to actually use the elixir in order to die for this quest. i went to go do a different quest before attempting to drink the elixir, got killed by about 50 scorpids trying escort a homing chicken to steemwheedle port (ok maybe 50 is an exaggeration...), got body, tried the chicken again, got killed again and decided to forget the chicken and see if i could find Gaelyn instead. sure enough, he was where you all said he would be and i had no trouble talking to him and completing this leg of quest string.

so really the only reason you even need to go to feralas, find brewspigger (or whatever his name is), and get the elixir at all is so that you can go through the go steps necessary to complete the quests that lead you up to this point. Gaelyn won't talk to you unless you've been told by Brewspigger to seek him out and Brewspigger, obviously, has prerequisites of his own. but the actual act of drinking the elixir at the cemetery, or even having the elixir in your pack at all once you've gotten it from Brewspigger, is not necessary.

Sure, you can just let yourself get killed by mobs, BUT... You will suffer 10% durability loss on everything, which DOES NOT HAPPEN if you drink the goo instead. Drink the goo. Save money. This quest chain already eats enough of it.

Gaerlin is at (53,23), which is somewhat into the mountains to the east of the road through the mountains towards Thousand Needles.

For the rest: you die, no equipment dammage, do not resurrect, walk to the fellow as a ghost and go back to ressurrect and do the next quest at the graveyard.

Here is the deal....

First talk to Gregan Brewspewer at 45,26 or you who don't have cosmos... he is at the T in The on the map in the the title The twin Colossus.

Buy the bait off him and head north to meet Miblon Snarltooth. You can see the ruin with the arch from the road east of the ruin Icon and just west off the road.

Place the meat on the steps. He moves and the door opens. Get the ingredient and head back to Gregan so he can make the potion.

now....

Go back to see Donova Snowden and she will give you the tempered sword and instruct you to go to the cemetary.

I loved this quest line. Anyways, go to the grave, drink a potion and then as a ghost run striaght up to 54,24. Just run up until you see the yellow dot on the map. Its really easy. After that ressurrect, hit the gravestone.... then its off to deliver Link's sword in Un Goro!

please help me. I went to the graveyard died and went to Gaeriyan (I think its was him it just said unknown entity) anyway i cant talk with him and then i go back to the graveyard resurect and nothing happen. please tell me how i can finish this quest

I drank the elixir, went to the guy and actually dinged when I was dead, now thats a cool way to ding to 60 > while being dead!

I went to the graveyard in Tanaris and drank the elixir as prescribed, and it killed me instantly (one elixir gone) so I revive, drink the second re: last) one, same deal, killed instantly. The quest states that you might be surprised at the result, well I was surprised to find out that I wasted the two porions, and can now not complete the quest, YAY! :/

This is just funny!
It actually kills you.
Just release your spirit and head north to talk to the ghost at 54,23.
He will send you back to res and examine a gravestone.

One small thing for everyone. If you use the potion to kill yourself you will not take the 10% durability loss on your gear. If a mob kills you then you will. I recommend using the potion as stated in the quest unless you rich and don't care.

well, due north means straight up from your corpse, but if your really can't function without numbers, try 53,23 (ct)

Go to graveyard at 53,29, use the Videre elixir. U must need in "ghost" form. Travel at 53,23 Gaeriyan. Speak with him, quest is complete :)

Some may think that because you need to head north from Gadgetzan that you are heading for Shimmering Flats/Thousand Needles. The path you want is to the right of that one. I was easily able to see the ghost to talk to with the yellow question mark over his head, plus he shows up as a yellow dot on the mini-map. He wanders, even while you talk to him so if you are interupted just wait for him to stop walking and talk to him again. Then go back to your body and rez (don't take the spirit healer rez, just rez like normal, your body is right there! Somebody might think that since the Spirit Healer is right there you have to take her rez and stumble around with rez sickness for 10 minutes, you don't. I'm just saying because somebody I was doing this with asked that very question).

There are many ways to die, however, and if like me you refuse to read all the post then you might try the potion and not realize you are suppose to be dead -- but all you have to do is allow a mob to kill you then you can complete the quest...

Buenas a todos, este quest es muy facil cuando le des al elixir encima del cementerio de tanaris teneis que ir a las coordenadas 54,23, donde hay un enano que os completa esa parte del quest, acto seguido resucitais y vais a la lapida para devolver la siguiente quest.

If you lost or forgot the Videre Elixir, take off your gear and let the mobs next to gadgetzan to kill you. You can talk to ghost this way aswell (do not release before you find the npc)

For this quest, once you are near Gadgetzan go to the grave yard at 54.02 28.74.
use the potion which will kill you, release body but stay dead.

go to the ? at 53,23 talk to the guy hand in the quest (remember you will still be dead) accept the next quest
return to your dead body and revive. the grave stone they send you to is near that look around or move your mouse over the grave stones. its actually a grave stone not a pole at 53.81 29.06.

hand in quest to get the next part.

Warning! Any and all buffs will dissappear.

I figured they would, but to test, with 1 minutes to go on Head and Heart buffs (And others) I used the elixir. When resurrected, they were gone.

So if you have buffs you don't want to lose, don't do it!

On official hardcore servers this will not kill you. This will bring you to 1 hp and give you a 5 minute debuff allowing you to talk to the dead.

11-28-23 - Just completed this quest and it does NOT kill you on official hardcore servers. I did close my eyes when I clicked the elixir waiting for the character to do a death noise tbh

HC check: This quest is "relatively" safe.

Spoiler:

You dont die, but your health drops to almost zero. So if someone is playing there and having mobs around the grave area (OBVIOUSLY on purpose) they might attack you with colleteral damage and THEN you die. So be prepared and look out if you are alone. Eat or use a pot right after you clicked on the quest item to regain health. You have enough time to visit the quest NPC. Lvl 40 something mobs are at the quest NPC, so even if youre way higher, they can still attack and kill you, if you just have something like 200 hps.

You have been warned.
Edit: Btw, to make it clear, Im talking about HC servers. If youre using a HC addon on a normal server your run is over.

Take the Videre elixir, along with Linken's sword, to the graveyard just outside Gadgetzan in Tanaris. Once there, drink the potion. You may be quite surprised at the results, but do not be alarmed.

In your "other" form, head due north until you reach the mountains. You'll find the one you need to speak with in one of the rocky crevices. His name is Gaeriyan.
