After you turn this quest at Marshal Maxwell, he doesn't give you a follow-up quest. Instead you have to return to Blackrock Depths and kill mobs until you find A Crumpled Up Note, which continues the chain.

After each time I killed the pair. The note finally dropped. That is the easiest way to solo it, although someone said youc could farm the slaves outside the instance. I decided to go in to make sure I didn't waste my effort.

Of course, if you go with a group to do BRD, you should get the note fast and be able to do the rest of the quest. I did it solo because my guild was busy and I wanted to get it done.

Dragonkin Menace -> The True Masters (part 1, Redridge) -> The True Masters (part 2, SW) -> The True Masters (part 3, back to Redridge) -> The True Masters (part 4, back to Morgan's Vigil in Burning Steppes) -> talk to Ragged John -> talk to marshal Maxwell -> Marshall Windsor -> Abandoned Hope. Next step begins when you find a Crumpled Note off random drop in BRD. Take it back to Marshall Windsor and get A Shred of Hope -> Jail Break -> Stormwind Rendevous -> The Great Masquerade, and you then get the key to Onyxia's Lair!

Ok so i just did my escort quest, and i went back to Morgan's Vigil and finished it. It says i have to so Stormwin Masquearde, but where's the quest for it?

The note can drop of all mobs in BRM, i got it from a lvl 48 quarry slave outside the intance

The above poster is right, i had just been in BRD and it didn't drop once for me. After my crew disbanded I decided to go back in and try this theory out. I first had to kill a lvl 49 elite supervisor but I'm a lvl 60 hunter so that was a peice of cake then I killed a lvl 47 Quarry slave and there it was.

And to the poster about where Windsor is..the reason the maps aren't clear is because it's in an instance..He can be found inside BRD where u first spoke with him.

Although it doesn't state it here, you get a choice of 3 items in addition to the XP. Conservator Helm, Windshear Leggings, Shieldplate Sabatons. If you aren't going to use any of them, the Windshear Leggings sell for the most at 1 Gold 44 Silver 46 Copper.

If you have lost, sold, or destroyed your amulet. Or if you have forgotten where you left off in the quest line you can page a GM. They can see where you are or what you have done. The GM I paged was very helpfull and friendly, told me where I left off in the quest line. And I think they help you get the amulet again.

after u get Abandoned hope from the guy in BRD, do you look for the note? or do u talk to the guy in Burning steppes and then go back and find the note in BRD?

To the last few people who got the reward for the chain from Marshall Maxwell in Burning Steppes and think theyre stuck...

The next step in the chain is to find the crumpled note as a random drop in BRD. You dont need to talk to anybody first, as long as you got the reward from Maxwell.

Yah i just went outside of instance killed 9 quarry slaves and got the note pretty easy

If you fail the escort in jailbreak, do you have to abandon the quest to do it again?

To enter Onyxia's Lair, you must endure these steps:

1) Dragonkin Menace (Elite) from Halrendis in Morgan's Vigil, Burning Steppes.
2) Talk to Marshal Maxwell in Morgan's Vigil.
3) Talk to Magistrate Solomon in Lakeshire.
4) Talk to Highlord Bolvar Fordragon in Stormwind.
5) Talk to Magistrate Solomon in Lakeshire.
6) Talk to Marshal Maxwell in Morgan's Vigil.
7) Find Marshal Windsor in Blackrock Depths jail.
8) Return to Maxwell.
9) Find a random "A Crumpled Up Note" drop from a random dwarf in Blackrock Depths.
10) Take said note to Marshal Windsor.
11) Retrieve Marshal Windsor's Lost Information from General Angerforge and Golem Lord Argelmach (two pieces).
12) Escort Marshal Windsor out of Blackrock Depths jail.
13) Meet Marshal Windsor at gates of Stormwind.
14) Escort Marshal Windsor to Stormwind Keep to unveil who Lady Katrana Prestor really is. (Spoiler: Onyxia)
15) Stand way the hell back while Bolvar fights the elite dragons.
16) Travel to Winterspring to find Haleh. Find lots of elite blue dragons and run to the back of the cave, where you'll see a rune on the floor. It's hard to see, so you will die a few times.
17) Haleh tells you to go kill Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire. You will need 15 fairly skilled players for this quest, including yourself.
18) Once you have the "Blood of the Black Dragon Champion", return to Haleh. Drakkisath drops only ONE of these per kill. Yes, one for the entire 15 man group. Not one per person, one per group.
19) Return to Haleh with the Blood and claim your Drakefire Amulet. My 59 paladin now has his. :)

Yeah it does drop from quarryslaves i killed 30 and it drop,also the quarryslaves are not that bad to farm =)

On this patch, Drakkisath drops 1 blood to every group member. But only 10man raid is possible...

Yes. After patch 1.11 the Quarry Slaves do drop the note, happened to get it on my first attempt.

A Crumpled Up Note dropped off an Anvilrage Overseer for me outside the entrance. So getting that is easy :)

I did the same thing and i ahve to back track to each location until i found where i left off.

So sadly yes i believe thats what you have to do

I also discontinued the quest line for Onyxia and couldn't remember where to go next in the chain. I sent a ticket to a GM and explained this. I asked how to see what quests I have done in this chain so I could get back on track. The GM told me where I left off, what my next part was and where to go to find it. Hope this helps.

Hello, I seem to remember doing this whole chain, but I never escorted windsor, I just talked to him and quest was over. Im looking to get keyed for onyxia. I dont think I ever got the crumpled up note but I will go back and try to get that. if someone could tell me if im on the right track that would be great.

Talking to Windsor doesn't require a five-man. I did it in a raid, and it worked fine.

To continue to next part you need to go back to brd and kill some mobs to get the note

i talked to marshal windsor in his cell, then recieved the quest abandoned hope, no note ever dropped during the run, and now the quest disappeared from my quest log. does anyone know why?

Bolvar is a fool. I was gathering his precious 'proof' so that I could shove it down his throat.

He is a blind buffoon. Proof stands two feet away from him and he does not see.

As for my data, it's lost. Gone. Unrecoverable.

Should I ever find Ironfoe and make it out of this labyrinth, my first stop will be Stormwind, to place my hammer in between that reptile's eyes.
