How are you summoning? I have looked all over for these ruins in irontree to no avail. I found what looked like ruins but the flute still insists that I need to be in the irontree ruins.

There is a statue of a guy with a sword at the ruins. You need to use the quest item at this statue and it will summon the giant tree man. The quest he gives is an escort one, and its level 56.

I started summoning spirits (btw the ruins is actually the north graveyard). I kept summoning and eventually got 3 or 4 trees walking around. After summoning like 20 or 30 times back to back, I decided to flip black to here and read some more notes. By the time I flipped back to the game, the tree spirits were gone. I then started summmoning again. After casting like 5 times, no tree spirits were appearing and I thought i was broke. Then after casting 5 more times back to back, Arei appeared.

First off, I tried to do this quest unsuccessfully three times before completing it successfully, and each time I only had to use the flute once. After using the flute, you'll see some wandering spirits appear and Arei pops up a little ways away near an archway. He's really big, you can't miss him.

First thing he does after you start the quest is go all over irontree woods agroing everything. I was able to complete this part because the most he agroed at one time was three.

The biggest hurdle is as he's walking down the path just south of Jaedenhar. You'll get jumped by 5-6 of those satyr demon thingies. It will include one Hellcaster who will AOE you to death. This will take at least two people to deal with those mobs. I died three times there.

The last time, I had enough folks helping me to handle them, but as soon as they popped, they agroed ME instead of Arei, and he just kept on lumbering down the path. So I ignored them. they chased for a while then turned around. Turns out the hardest part of the quest turned into a moot point.

At the border with Ashenvale, you'll get two jadefire demons that spawn, those can be taken out without any problem with one person.

i never it abandoned from quest. but i still have had the purifed flute. thinking it was a glitch i tossed the flute and now she wont give me another one. and ive tried killing Xavaric a couple to times so he would drop it.but that didnt work either. anyone have any ideas

Found out (to my cost) that the ruins you want (for those of us who can't use the loc's) are the ones around the graveyard - South of the large crater below the double-O in 'Irontree Woods' on the map :)

finished the first walk, but he now just stands by the road.. all he says is that he is finally free.. arn't there supposed to be a follow up? what to do?

i finished the tree escort and now i'm suppose to find this guy in ashenvale named kayneth stillwind,
the prob is i've searced everywhere .. says forest song but the name isn't even on the map.

As stated above, quest has been shortened, you just have to escort him onto the path. You will then get quest completed. Now this is the annoying bit, you still have to hand in at the original end quest NPC. "Kayneth Stillwind", located in Ashenvale 85,44

Level 54 Rogue compleated this on first try... without any bandaids or food (I didnt realize this was an escort quest when i tried it)

Very Simple Quest... you dont have to take him the whole way to ashenvale like i missread... you gotta take him to the road to the east thats all... and then your attacked by 3 tree guys... pretty easy to slice down

I did this quest a few days ago solo 53 Hunter. It was really easy escort quest. I thought something went wrong cause once we finally made the road and fought the last round of three trees (on the road near Iron Tree)he turned whole again and said he was finally free. Seems that is the end of it cause I got the complete very nice xp and the quest to see the guy in Forest Song (to the East).
He is on the other side of Satyrnarr. First time I hunted for him I didn't think I would ever find him. From Felwood I went to left along the wall till I hit the water followed it down to road and past Satyrnarr and went in to left he is by a campfire. I also found a dragon farther over from where he is. Didn't tell it hello thou. :)
I still have the flute and came to see if I can destroy it now. I know some quest don't take the final item and you can destroy them for lack of no further use but like to check first.
Any clue on this flute?
Edit: In my continued search it seems there is no further use for this item.

I also accepted this quest but it is not in my log. i went to irontree and summoned Arei but he just stands there and states the his spirti is traped and he may never leave?

i went back to try and get quest again but cannot.

anyone get a fix on this yet?

I did this turn in of the purified water from Darnassus and then stood there, and turned it in again. Basicly 5450xp for doing NOTHING. Got the flute.. but no quest. Same thing happend MONTHS ago on my other char that is now 60. You'd think if this was some sort of bug it would have been fixed by now.

So..I guess I could take the flute to Iron Tree woods.. where ever it is, I'll have to look I guess... and then what.. what is the reward. Is it worth trying to pick up this 'lost' quest line?

After you turn in Purified, there is no quest to go summon Arei. All you get is the flute. If, however, you do go summon Arei, he will give you the escort quest, which as mentioned just takes you all around Irontree Woods and out to the road. I just now did this quest without any problems; the only things that aggroed (aside from random mobs already in the area) were a group of 2 Toxic Horrors & a group of 3 Stompers at the road.

Edit: The item rewards are, of course, crap for anyone at this level (or they should be), but it's 7300 exp at level 59. Well worth it!

In addition to the toxic water elementals, at the end of the quest (on the road), Arei will pause then 3 iron trees will jump you two. After that, he will change from partially visible to fully visible. He will then thank you at which point the quest is completed.

I just found this quest when i was handing in another at the sanctuary. Was pretty cool cos i had completed it some how and i recieved 5450 XP, no reputation increase or decrease.

It seems like this quest is bugged. No Summoning necessary in Irontree woods. The quest became compete as soon as it was recieved.

A free 5400 xp for doing nothing.

The flute must be used in the "cimetery" in Irontree woods. ("Bois d'Arbrefer" in french)

It summons an ancient spirit that gives another escorting quest : Ancient Spirit]

At level 55, this got me 5450 XP and no reputation adjustment.

Take the flute to the ruins near 55,26 in the Irontree Wood. Click on the flute inside the ruins and it summons a BIG Tree (an Ancient). As big as he is he still needs your help to get free of the place so follow him and kill everyone that he agros. At the river he agros 3 toxic water elementals so be ready there. Once he walks to the northern part of Irontree wood (near 49,17) he simply vanished. Make sure that you have been thanked by him and he turns back to his true form or you gotta do it over again. This happened to me and I got up to Kayneth thinking that I was done and I was not. So stay close to him (between his feet) or he leaves U. You have to go to see Kayneth Stillwind to finish the quest. Go up to Talonbranch Glade in Felwood North take a flight to Azshara (Talrendis Point). Ride back west into Ashenvale and after you cross the bridge there iws an incline to the right that goes up to some Ancient Elvin Ruins (Forest Song) near 87,43. Kayneth is at 85, 44.
