Don't forget to pick up the ledger - you don't get it automatically. It appears in front of the outhouse. You can talk to him again if you miss it.

The leg shafts drop from Glassweb Spiders in Searing Gorge. The Overdue Package is in Dustwallow Marsh, and the sword is by the eastern coast of Swamp of Sorrows, carried by a named murloc. Check the links in the quest description above for exact positions.

For the Solid Crystal Leg Shafts that drop off of the Glassweb Spiders, you are going to want to try to aviod criting if at all possible, since you will get more off of them if you don't crit. They might have changed this in a patch, but I just did it and seemed to get more when I didn't crit.

The Leg Shafts are the hardest part here. I farmed them for about 15 minutes before I got the 20. Most would drop 1 at a time but some do drop 3 and 4's at a time.

5050 xp for some time farming and a fairly decent wand.

When you accept the quest the ledger appears on the ground by the outhouse. If its not there, just talk to him again and he'll drop it on the ground. I thought I never recieved it either, but you you have to actively pick it up.

I think he respawn in random location among 3 camps in the coast... as of 4/1/05 he respawn near 93.51.. You just have to scount around the area to find him.

The Spiders adjacent to the outhouse don't seem to actually drop these. Funnily enough it's only the ones everywhere else that do, e.g. the ones NE of the site

For me it was on and off. I would get several drops in a row then kill 10+ spiders without even getting one. I eventually did get all of them. Probably 50 or 60 spiders in all (I don't mind, for me they are good XP).

The others were no problem at all since I use an addon with coordinates. (if you don't have one imagine the map as roughly 100x100 and estimate)

Lots of leg-work though, so I don't know if its really worth it.

Instead of running around Dustwallow on the road if u just head west through the water towards coords 55,50 you will be able to go through the mountains and get to you desired location.

To be a bit more accurate since there are three types of spiders in Searing Gorge. The ones that you are looking to kill for the shafts are Glassweb Spiders. One place to find them is around Sea of Cinders/Grimslot Dig Site/Tanner's Camp.

I just completed this quest and my coords are as follows:

The Overdue Package (Dustwallow) = 53,55
Path to get there = 55,50

Goodsteel's Balance Flanberge (sword dropped from Jarquia the murloc in Swamp of Sorrows) = 93,51
(he is a blue colored murloc standing next to a large turtle shell)

I did this easily as a 49 druid in cat form. there are spiders and slimes there (40-41)in the area of the wreck.

These items listed below are the items required for the quest Ledger from Tanaris.

1. Krinkle Goodsteel's Ledger
-Appears by outhouse after accepting this quest
2. Crystal Leg Shafts
-Dropped from Glassweb spiders in Searing Gorge (these spiders can be found directly North and West of where you accapt this quest)
3. Goodsteel's Balanced Flamberge
-Dropped from Jarquia(?) in Swamp of Sorrows (spawns near the mmiddle of the beach on the Eastern edge of SoS)
4. An Overdue Package
-By far the hardest item to find. Found in Dustwallow Marsh by a crashed Zeppelin (Beezil's Wreck). The easiest way to find this is to go to the mountains surrounding Dustwallow Bay (not the mountains surrounding the entire region), then to head south until it says that you've discovered Beezil's Wreck (if you've got your minimap open and zoomed all the way out, it'll look like a tiny black line on the ground when you get close enough). It's a tiny package on the ground, so just search around, it'll be there.

I hope these directions help those who are having trouble completing this quest, and those who are too lazy to figure these things out on their own.

I found Jarquia at 95,52. She must respawn in diff camps. Just go to a diff camp if u dont find her.

The overdue package can be found in Dustwallow Marsh at Beezil's Wreck. Location 56,68.

The Solid Crystal Leg Shafts drop from the Glassweb Spiders in Searing Gorge. They can be found around the Digging site and the Northern gate to Ironforge. Drop rate is not very high. Some drop none at all, others drop 1, 2 or 3 legs at a time. A little bit of grinding, but not too bad. Except for the respawns which is slow on these mobs.

The murloc you need to slay for the sword is called Jarquia. He can be found along the coast side of the Swamps of Sorrows, just east of Sunken Temple.

From Theramore, cross the bay swimming untill you reach Tloc 56,51. There climb up the hills (there is a passage in Tloc 55,51), turn left, and u find in Tloc 54,56 the damage crate.

Godsteel's Balanced Flameberge: this item is a drop from a Murloc named jarquia. For my fellow hunters just use humanoid tracking around this area of the beach. Shaqweeta's coordinates may be correct for some, but I caught up with this dude at 94,64.

The book is on the floor by the door to the outhouse. Did the quest last night. If you 'miss' the book you can right click the outhouse and ask to see it again. He then puts another on the floor. The book has to be right-ckicked to 'open' it and the ledger is inside (yeah a bit strange that the book is a container for the ledger).

Named Murloc is middle of the beach...

Crashsite is almost due east of Tabetha to her side of the mountains lining the bay. I haven't found a shortcut there so you really need to go up to north point tower and back down along the mountains. Box is behind the front end of the crash site.

The spider legs took me 20 minutes to get then all. One dropped 5. I am using a retribution pally.

I'm a 51 shadow priest and I don't crit that often with Mind Blast; I mostly just bubble, SW:P and Mind Flay. Took me about 15 mins all up.
Most of the spiders dropped 1-5 legs at random, and I didn't have that many empty drops. Crits affecting drop rates is just plain silly.
On another note, quest handin for 51 is (or was for me), 5050xp and 350 rep with Gadgetzan.

Whats the big deal with the spiders? I had absolutely no problem getting all of the legs. drop rate was fine. Didn't throw my keyboard once. Lvl 51 lock.

The crystal legs dropped just fine for me. I collected most of them in 2's, 3's and one in 4. Damage done to them doesn't effect the droprate! I collected them all in about 20 min...

The Murloc Jalguar, is at 91,66 give or take (he paces the shore a little)...Very easy kill. Didn't aggro any other mobs.

At last the crate with the late shipment is at 54,55. no mobs to fight thru...It's just sitting right there ready for you to pick it up...Done!

I got 5050 xp at lvl 50, and took the rod and sold it for over a gold. Didn't need the mail girdle cuz I wear plate, so the rod was a nice quest reward (for the G).

Finished whole quest in about an hour and 10 min.

if someone is having trouble gathering solid crystal leg shaft from glassweb spiders,its not the crappy drop rate,infact its " you ".The point is ,critical hits reduces the drop rate(1 crit = loss of one leg),8 crits = no legs at all....i'm a rogue and i removed all my agility items to reduce crits (was bare naked) and voila! i had 5-6 drops in 1 kill...enjoy

Just to be perfectly clear, I did this quest on March 5 2007 and kept a clear eye on my combat text and I got a number of the spider leg drops on fights where I critted multiple times.

Crits do NOT affect drop rate.

It is just that the drop rate sucks.

Ok, you are all missing the joke here. "Crit 8 times and get no legs." He is kidding around. Of course someone, thinking that this is true, noticed a time where they didn't crit and received a leg and suddenly they believe this as a fact instead of someone just being funny. Don't be upset at SpecialistEonar just because someone did not have a sense of humor and took him/her serious. It would be like saying that in the quest where you need to bring back someone's head, you need to make sure you use a sword or axe and not a mace or staff because you wont cut the head off you will just smash it. Jokes people, (not always funny apparently) but it's a joke.

Well... don't make the mistake of abandoning the quest if you think that it's "bugging" and not giving you the ledger. I had it complete, except the ledger, and I thought that it just wasn't giving to me. I abandoned, and lost ALL of the items- legs and all.

A couple of notes:

At 56,52 (or very close) is a pass through the mountains. This is a handy way of getting to the wrecked zepplin for those who don't want to run allllll the way around the barrier in Dustwallow. It at least lets you back to Theramore Isle with no delay.

Just so we're clear on this, an item not dropping after you get a critical hit does not prove that criticals eliminate the drop. There's this little thing called "statistics," and "scientific method," which I applied by noticing that I got a number of crits (it's a rare fight that I don't get a few, being an Arms-based Warrior) and still picked up the crystal legs. (Actually, I kinda feel sorry for those fighters who get so few criticals that they notice when one does happen.)

I did forget to pick up the ledger, so I went back for it. The way you ask is funny: "I'd like another copy of the ledger, if... um... if you're not doing anything else with it." OJ, it's not Emo Philips, but it's a bit of fun.

well Tchugach, the reason you don't understand what we are talking about is because you are a rouge. Rouges primary damage is by stings and poisons. When i did this quest I did no physical damage at all, using only damage over time stings or poisons and resulted in 100% - 400% drop rate off every spider. If I used a phyical attack I'd be be lucky if anything dropped at all.

This is not the only kind of quest like this.

An Overdue Package -

I hired someone who I thought was a
reliable pilot to bring me a package
from Theramore. I was apparently
wrong. And even though the pilot
lived to tell the tale, he left his entire
zepplin and all it's cargo behind to
save his own neck.

Well, I need that package back. From
what Beezil tells me, he crashed just
west of the bay in Dustwallow
Marsh. It went down just after he
crossed the hills along the water's
edge.

Hmmm... never did tell me what caused
him to crash...

Finally, I want one of my finest
works of blacksmithing to date. This
flameberge was an incredible sword
that I bestowed upon what I thought
was a very honorable and great
warrior. Well, he was tronced by a
murloc named Jarquai? Something like
that.

It was while he was traveling along
the coast of the Swamp of Sorrows
when he thought to attack the
creature. He failed and aperantly
fled, but not before leaving the
weapon behind for this murloc to
take.

It is confirmed! Any crits and u will lose the spider legs. I solo's it as lvl 46 Hunter. I disarmed my weapons, and sent my pet in first, i then layed fire traps on the spiders and skilled up my unarmed.. xD

If u were to forget to pick up the Goodsteel Ledger, it will appear again by the outhouse if u talk to him again.

Nice quest with good reward! I got 5050 xp for it!

well the posts about the glassweb spiders and not critting makes for more shafts just isnt true. i crit alot on the 1st and got nothing, crit only once on the next few and got nadda, even on the few that i didnt crit at all i got absolute zilch.

stupid spiders >.<

EDIT: found something strange tho, after a good amount of dead spiders i was trying diffrent methods to see what would drop most, oddly enough the times that i used no melee to kill them resulted in multiple shaft drops. coincidence? maybe! :D

The dwarf in the outhouse will put the ledger on the ground. If you miss it you can request it again. Strange thing is even if you let him out and watch him head off and disappear his voice will still come from the outhouse when clicked.

Solid Crystal Leg Shafts are found on Glassweb spiders found throughout Searing Gorge.

The overdue package is found at the crashsite in Dustwallow Marsh west of Theramore at coords 54,55

And lastly the Balanced Flameberge is found on a named level 46 Murloc called Jarquai in Swamp of Sorrows. He is found along the eastern beach at coords 91,66

Now take the items to Goodsteel in Gadgetzan, Tanaris for your reward.

For those without cosmos the wreck is in the hills sort of in the centre on that bump of land that juts out due west of Theramore. It's called Beezil's Wreck and you will get a discovery bonus for it. It's a big smoking wreck and easy to spot if you're close to it. Your best bet is to swim west of Theramore and run up into the hills like you would if you were headed towards Tabetha's hut. Hope that helps.

no idea where you guys are getting this crit info from. My rogue just did this, was critting about 45% of the time, and I got 20 shafts off of about 9 spiders.

A couple of people posted that they only recieved 500 xp from completing this quest (at levels 56 & 60). If you do this quest when you're supposed to, the XP & Rep gain is much much nicer.

5050 XP at lvl 46 and 350 gadgetzan rep.

for rogues doing the first part (crystal shafts) don't assume you have to be naked and unarmed to get the drops...although you have to be mindful of your attack.

the method I found out the best for getting decent drops goes as follows

start off doing a garotte, with deadly poison III applied to your weapon(s)(instant poison should work as well) do a normal attack, which means avoid the temptation to use sin strike. then, when your combo points build up a bit (usually only 2-3 cp) hit the spider with a rupture, and let the normal attacks and the DoTs finish them off. almost all of my drops using this method produced 2-4 legs.

for those rogues using weapons that do frost damage, (like the coldrage dagger) I would suggest putting it in your pack, and use a different weapon...this seams to kill the drop all together. However, using the SM quest reward of the Black Menace should work fine, as shadow damage doesn't seem to affect the drop rate.

and definately stay away from ambush/eviscarate because those will also kill your drop rate as well.

The ledger appears in front of the outhouse for you to click on the ground. If it disappears, click the outhouse again and ask to borrow it. It will appear again.

I made an account just to say that this quest is evil... go across two continents all over the place, just for under 3g worth of reward, experience not being full starting 52, with 1k experience penalty for each level after 51. The experience being comparable to that of killing between 5 and 25 mobs, which is significantly faster than doing this quest.

So you don't have too scroll down to far, in Swamp of Sorrows you are looking for a named murloc on the back called Jarquia, who drops the flaberge. Questie's icon puts him in a turtle shell hut thing at 94.50 or so, but he is often elsewhere. Check at 91.66 first as this is where I and many others below found him in the open. Level 46, easy kill.

With all the traveling involved, this quest is not worth doing. In addition, the spider drop rate is horrendous.

If you need a wand, get it from somewhere else. This quest is just not worth the time and effort.
