My bet is you must find the charred Human Remains in Blackrock Spire with the gauntlets to start, and then you take them to Malyfous.

in lower blackrock spires, at the orcish invoker area, behind some crates is a subterranean tunnel leading down to a lava flow. The human remains are there, and the gauntlet is in the lava directly in front of them. They do not seem to respawn so multiple smiths will have to fight over them ha!

The remains are in LBRS.

Right before the spiders area is a long hallway filled with Orcs.

At the very begining of this hallway, futhest away from the spiders, on the right side, there are some orc tents, there is a tunnel behind these tents.

If you were coming from the troll area, through the rocks, and entered the hall, it would be your first group of orcs and tents on your right.

I do not know if there is a BS requirement.

Seems like only the BS's could get it.
Both of us got the quest, only one could get the gauntlets themselves (in the lava)

It's a blacksmith only quest.

you also must have at least a certain level of blacksmithing. I tried to get this when I was at 270 and couldn't click the skeleton, came back at 285 and it works fine.

Got with 275, but didnt know about the gauntlets so i have to go back... will try a <on my own> run muahah

ok guys i stumbled on this one by accident. ppl started leaving group and as there were only two of us left i decided to try getting downt there without having to go trhough a lot of the instance. at the begining right when u enter hordemar kill the mob group and look to your right where theres orcs on the platform next to uroks burial mound for the pike quest. youll notice a ledge jump onit. from this ledge jump further on another next to it. youll now see a big block that fell into lava, jump in the lava near it and quickly swim to saftey next to the skelleton where you see concrete jutting into the watter next to the skelleton. When ur safe clik on the skelly and heal yourself. The gaunts are in the lava so ull have to walk in and walk out quickly. This trick is good for those whos group is disbanding or for the groups that wanna skip urek and a lot of mobs.

I'm a Master Axesmith and i got it, so yes its possible i guess.

While the gauntlets themselves can be found by any old blacksmith, the plans, which are the end result, are for armorsmiths only. So no, weaponsmiths cannot make these, and if you are a weaponsmith who deprived an unknowing armorsmith of these, I hope for your sake they don't find out. Have a nice day.

I got down there with a group, got the quest from the skeleton and tried to get the gloves in the lava. Damage from the lava now interupts the interaction with the gloves. Even after sacing my void walker, I was interupted while damage was being absorbed. Cant see any possible way to get the gloves now.

there are 2 ways to do that atm
1)Buy lesser invulnerability potion use it in lava and get gauntlets.

2)Theres a tiny skeleton on the lava if you manage to jump on it you can get gauntlets here is the screenshot.

A potion, shield, or damage protection won't work. It still interrupts you opening the gauntlet.

The only way I found was to jump to the skeleton, and position the camera so you could actually select it. It's bugged right now, so you can only see it when facing away from where it would be, or with your back to the shore

I examed the skeleton to get this quest (Hot Fiery Death). But the proboem is I did not loot the gauntlets in lava. After I turned in Hot Fiery Death in WS, the NPC gave me another quest (Fiery Plate Gauntlets) which need the Unfired Plate Gauntlets. The gauntlet in lava is unclickable to me now. That's mean I can never complete the quest?

ok i am a 59 paly tried using shield to get the gloves but wont let you pick up while invulnerable. any damage caused will interupt the aquistion of the glovves. anyone got any ideas.

Completed quest yesterday (7/27/05).

You have to stand on the skeleton/bones that are floating above the lava. Once on the bones, move your curser until you get the cogwheel (curser interact with object animation) and click on the bracers.

lol the guntlets and the corpse was in the ground not in lava :) so it's an esay quest

I think the only thing to be careful about here is that you need to pick up the guantlets before getting the quest from the skeleton; I believe the guantlets will disappear after getting the quest.

Guys i got the quest a while back but some noob made the gaunts dissapear, and i abandon'd the quest from my log. a week later i found pug that made it back there. so i got the gaunts, and left. forgetting i didn't have the quest. so i came back AGAIN, and tryed to get the quest. but it won't allow me to get it from the human skeleton next to the gaunts. so i did it once more, destroyed the unfiery plate gaunts. and wen't to get the quest to see if it would work. I was wrong. I destroyed them and the quest was still unobtainable. so i snagged the gaunts again and finished the run because everyone was impatienct.... can someone tell me how to fix or get around this bug / glitch or whatever the hell it is?

I got the quest and gauntlets as of 1.9, but I have yet to check if getting the gauntlets before the quest works properly. Anyways, just bring an 18 second invisibility potion, stand as far into LBRS as you can, wait for the pat to go by, turn on the potion, run to up the stairs on the right, off the ledge, through the hallway on the left... by this point the potion will have worn off and you'll be getting aggro. So you run through the wall and pull a sharp right, hop onto the ledge, the next ledge, then hop into the lava, onto the rock thing and there's the items. Not sure if it was a bug, but I lost all aggro once I was down there.

Ok for those that didn't notice it's easy to turn this in just fly to winterspring and head for the yellow dot on your hud.

For those of you who aren't armorsmiths. Currently the quest reward is both the recipe and a pair of the gauntlets so while you can't make any for your friends you can still get the pair from the quest for less matts than it costs to actually build them.

what kind of invisibility potion did he use? The 15 second one ore the 18 second one? does it make a different?

Ok, I just tried this on my brother BLACKSMITHING paladin and I still cant pick up the gauntlets.

Where do you actaully get the quest?

I am guessing you get the Quest then pick up the gauntlets...

So where do I get the quest that then allows me to loot the gauntlets?

I have tried to interact with both of the skeletons down there but it is not possible. I have tried this only on my own and not grouped.

To get the quest:

Go to LBRS. From the entrance, go right up the ramp to the right. Jump down. You will see a mob with two dogs, etc...there is a door to the left...go through the doors; turn with the hallway...when you come out into the next room...turn directly right and jump down on the ledge...run along the ledge and jump down one more level to the ground...there you will see mobs under camps...behind the first camp to the right you will notice an opening to a ramp which heads downward...fight the mob or use invisibility potion and then go down that ramp. At the bottom you will see the body where you can obtain this quest. You must be an armorsmith. After you get the quest...loot the same area again and you will get the Unfired Plate Gauntlets. You will need both the quest and the Unfired Plate Gauntlets item.

1. Return to Winterspring and to turn in the quest to Malyfous Darkhammer in Everlook. He will give you a follow-up quest to get him some mats.

3. Note: it's easiest to get these mats before you turn in the quest in the first place so you'd save a trip.
-6 x Enchanted Thorium Bars
-2 x Essence of Fire
-4 x Star Ruby

So I grabbed the gauntlets first, then the quest. But the quest still tells me to pick up the gauntlets. Does this mean I have to drop both the quest and gaunlets, and do it again with quest first before gauntlets?

I have the same problem as MidnightOverlord.
When I opened the gauntlets they didnt contain anything and then dissapeared. Can anyone confirm this information: a character must be a BS to get this quest and his skill should be above 270?

I found some helpfull info from thottbot.

This tunnel is behind the tents, if you take the normal shortcut (to the spider area) and jump down to the right at the start, and jump down to slay dem orcs there, youll see the passage!

I just solo'd this quest on my 58 warrior, I can confirm that you MUST have BS 275 (I tried it at 249, 250, 265, 270 none worked) When you ahve BS 275+ there will be a gear symbol when you mouse over the skeleton.

I had a few problems understanding the information here, so ill do my best to clear it up...

to solo it, first enter BRS through the usual instance. u go up a slight slope then you get to a room with 2 mobs on the wall on the left, 2 mobs on the wall to the right, one patrolling between the walls and 2 mobs patrolling around the stairs.... there is a staircase going up on the left and right, and a staircase going down in the middle...

wait till you are goin to pull the least amount of mobs. run UP the stairs to the right, and go through the first doorway to the right and, being careful but quick, jump off the left side of the balcony... if you go through an instance you jumped too far to the right...

you land, run in the same general direction you have been running (the same way the balcony was facing) and take the first and only door to the left.

when you go through that door, you are in "Hordemar City" and on a large platform. run to the right side and look down. you should see a ledge about 10 feet below you. Jump onto it. run away from the mobs behind you and there is another platform about 10 more feet down on the other side of the chasm. jump onto it

now heal urself.

look down to the lava stream... looking one way, you see a slight curve off into the distance... looking the other way, you can see a stone in the lava, and you cannot see much more due to obstructions...

try and jump onto that large stone in the lava... dont worry if you dont make it.... across from that block there is a beach that you can run onto easily....get on that beach asap...

now you can loot the skelly there. i had to relog so i was out of combat before i could pick up the gauntlets.

get the skelly first to get the quest, then the gauntlets to complete the quest, then hearth out and go to winterspring...

This quest is bugged, and if you jump into the lava you will get interupted when you try to grab the gauntlet. So in order to get it, stand on top of the skeleton remains in the lava. Turn around a bit, because the gauntlet isnt usable from every direction.

Its also worth noting this quest is soloable for a warrior. Either use an ivisibility potion at the entrance, or start running right away. As soon as you enter the City, ( you are most likely to have at least 3 groups on your back by now), Jump down on a ledge to the right, and then down until you are in the lava or on that fallen block.
Bring Bandages and Potions, cause the mobs wont run back, and you will be in combat for the duration of the ordeal.
I do not know if the mobs run down to catch up with you, because i didnt tarry long enough to find out :)

The only thing that remains of this human are some charred bones. He seems to have died within arms reach of what he was after - unfired plate gauntlets.

Perhaps you should grab the gauntlets and get out of the fire?
