The libram is in the house looking like the Southshore Inn, first floor, inner room, on a table. It glows.

You can avoid fighting into hearthglen, if you have done the quest "Scarlet Subterfuge" before. Just talk to "Myranda the Hag", get the Scarlet Illusion buff and walk into Harthglen to get the book.

When you loot the book, the Scarlet Illusion will get removed. Since I play priest, I just caster Power Word: Shield, Fear, and run off after looting the book.

This is easily soloable if you're ready to die for it.

Mind soothe the gate guards and the paladins on your way to the town hall, run in and die in the far end of the town hall. Run in, rez and mind soothe the pallyes. Loot, fear if you get an unlucky add, run out. You can get outside of leash range before you meet another mob. Mind soothe your way out.

Think this may be possible without death, if you know where the book is. First table in main room of town hall, btw. :)

Soloed this as a lvl 59 Hunter. When you come to the right house. Dismiss pet. Run in and feign death in the far end of the room. Res and put out an icetrap. Call pet and heal up before you start to fight the Lord. Finally take on the two palas at the other end of the room. The book is now yours for the taking. The shield is outside the barn on the right corner from the front, not inside as has been suggested. It takes a little patience and is absolutely possible to solo.

I suggest at least a small group to do this quest and the ones that follow it for anyone below lvl 60. This quest is a chain with a followup. Once you complete "Heroes of Darrowshire" and "Villains of Darrowshire" you are then able to get a new quest from Carlin Redpath called "Marauders of Darrowshire". Finish that and you can get "Battle of Darrowshire." Then "Hidden Treasures" is last and gives you a choice of these quest rewards:

Already done Defenders of Darrowshire, 57 Draenei Priest, unable to get Heroes or Villains of Darrowshire...

Here's how I did it using a bit of guile:

Run by the Sentinel's at the gate, with or without S tealth. Use Vanish, poof, no more Sentinels. Avoid the ones inside like the plague, and head straight to the town hall, which thankfully is devoid of them. There are Paladins there though, so obfuscate past them with stealth and pick their pockets too because they are oblivious, mwahaha. Go inside the town hall and apply Crippling Poison to your weapons. Sap one Pally, then get the other one to aggro you. Run to the other end of the hall and stab him till the Crippling effect works. Sprint to the Libram and voila, the slow ass bastard will never make it in time! Escape by whatever means you find appropriate. Easy easy!

This was incredibly easy as a priest. you can get inside hearthglen without fighting anyone - just run past the initial guards and go left, there you can find a safe spot where the mobs following you will turn back. From there run to the entrance of the town hall. Then just shield and run in. The book is glowing and is on a table to the left in the main part of the town hall. Once you get next to the book, fear the five or six guys on you and loot the book, then re-shield and run out.

Western Plaguelands - 42,18

Inside of the Town Hall. Take a left as you enter Hearthglen, up the road, you will see two 56 elite paladins outside on both sides of the doors along with archery targets.

The book is inside, you will face 2 more 56 elite paladins as you enter the building, then one more inside the next small room. Finally two more right beside the book.

Completed as a 56 Warrior:

1. Ran in and died near the front

2. Went shield/1h and pulled them

3. Hamstringed both

4. Warstomped

5. Ran and grabbed the book, died and spirit rezzed.

Extremely easy.

1. Summon void walker.
2. Send it to get every guard aggro.
3. Take the book.
4. Run out.

Plan B:
If your void dies, fear them all and run like hell.

This is how i done it. I had some magic powder on me, it puts a monster asleep. I ran in and died. Walked back and rezzed and and bandaged. I put one of the guards asleep near the book and began building rage. When my fear skill was ready i targeted the sleeping one and feared the other...grabbed the book and ran like mad.

I bought the magic dust from the AH for like 10s

Shield part:

Go the field kill 2-3 sourounding mobs and take it

Libram part:

Go to hearthglen

Dismiss ur pet

Run in the room in the middle of it and click FD

Get up and call ur pet

Send your pet to tak the mobs

While ur pet fights open the libram

Run out and FD again

Ur free to go!

I am thinking before you do this quest, go do the https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=5862/scarlet-subterfuge quest. This quest will change you into a scarlet crusader for 30 minutes and at this time you will be allied with them. So u can stroll in the scarlet base and take the quest item without much incident.

If you plan your questing accordingly you can do this easily. Good luck to all.

Use the usual method of getting nearby by mounting past the first guards and veer left, when you're near the Town Hall get your Imp out first, SS up, and zerg into the town hall. If there are less than 6 mobs just HoT them and grab it. If there are, run toward the empty space and let them kill you. Pop the SS and summon your VW. Send him in to agro both, and rush over to grab the book. By the time you get the book he'll be nearly dead, hit Sacrifice and start hauling ass out of there. You should be able to get them to leash back before your Sac shield up down.

The shield is easy. The Libram takes some work. I am level 60 hunter, I used Freezing Traps and Viper Sting,to drain mana and rapid fire. I was able to kill 1 pali b4 the other came out of the trap. (these are the Pallies outside the building, and the two just inside the entrance) My spec is 0/20/31.

Inside the building where the Libram is, I set a freezing trap for one of the Pallies set my pet on the other, got the libram, AOTC and recalled pet and was outta there.

Some people just have to accept that not everyone uses Cord Mods....so heres a better explination of locaction...it IS in WPL. Shield is located in Gahrrons Withering, outside of barn, right side of barn door....East WPL...use your map. If you play it right, you might only have to kill 1 or 2.

Libram is in Hearthglen which is in the top middle portion of your map. A little harder to get. Run in if youre mounted...pretty simple..when you come up to main gate turn left...theres a small area to chill and mobs will de-agro. Health and/or Mana up. Town Hall has a big clock tower attached. Yes you can do it without ablility to stealth....if you cant scream/fear then bring someone who can...once inside make a quick left, a quick right, and waaaaalaaaa. its on the table with 2 on each side...

Simple as lvl 60 shadow priest

People are trying to do this in an unnecessarily difficult way. I rode in and around to the right, didn't need vanish at this point, the mobs were so far spread apart that I managed to kite them around into an opening and stealthed when they gave up... got past the first 3 paladins in the building simply enough using distract and the cabinet that runs behind one of them (which you can jump on). In the main room, waited until the named walked to the far end of the room and threw a distract for him just to give an extra little bit of time, sapped one paladin, blinded the other (can't believe how few people thought of this), easily looted the book and vanished. Took 5 minutes, L56 rogue.

Ok, I solo'd this as a druid.

When facing the building, kill off whatever mob is on the left of the entrance as he's in the kiting path. They're pretty easy to solo when they're alone.

Stealth in the building and get to the back of the room where it's safe to pop out of stealth. Put on your tanking gear and get as much stam on as you can. Cast regrowth on yourself and rejuvenation, then hit cat form and make for the door. Target the left Scarlet Paladin (closest to the libram) and faerie fire him as you're going out the door. Keep faerie firing him everytime the cool down comes up (spam the button) as you don't need to be facing him to get it to affect him.

Head out of the build and jump off the right ledge. Head towards the tower with the spiraling staircase which is about 100 game yds away. Keeping faerie firing that Scarlet Paladin you first targetted. Head between the 2 guards of the tower and head up the stairs all the way to the top of the tower. On the way up the stairs stay close to the edge and try to land faerie fires on the guard.

At the top, turn right and jump off from that side towards the front of the tower. At this point stop faerie firing. In catform, you'll take around 600dmg from the fall. Pop out of cat, rejuvenate yourself, back to cat form and head back to the building. By the time you get to the front you'll be out of combat and can stealth back inside.

The right guard which I did not target was back in position. The left was not. I pulled the right guard to the back to the room and solo'd. The left guard never showed up.

Not sure how easilly reproducable this is for futured druids, but it worked for me. (^^)b

As a 56 rogue this quest was actually fairly easy, although i see how it could be very difficult for some classes:

For the libram, i ran past the two front guards of Hearthglen without bothering to stealth (they would see me anyway), and partway into the entrance. Before aggroing the other two at the end of the entrance i pulled vanish and stealthed right on into town hall (with a few distracts here and there). Went to back room, sapped the one closer to the back wall (away from the other room) and then blinded the other. Clicked the book, waited 5 seconds. Somehow a pally from the other room saw me and aggroed towards the end of the loot, but she couldnt get to me before the timer was up. Grabbed the book, vanished, stealthed out.

The shield really doesnt even warrant an explanation. Pull mobs one by one around the shield until you have a clear path to loot. Quest complete.

Did this earlier today, solo with 1 death.

Run into the town hall, turn right and die at the lecturn / pulpit. Run back from GY and ressurect at the pulpit, buff sta etc.

When ready, mind soothe both guards at the table, move forward to see the guard in the doorway and mind soothe her. Get to the book mind soothe will run out, scream the guards and loot. Shield then run out.

Use your noggin- Yeah the 2 guards at the front gate have a 10 yard
stealth detection or so.

They are the least of your problems... If you can't figure out how to
get by the guards at the front gate you might want to get a group.

But just use your mount ride to the middle and vanish. OR distract/sprint
and haul ass.

There's more than one way.

Solo'd tonight as a 60 feral druid...the shield was dead easy, stealth close, take out 2 of the ghosts that were near the shield, and loot!

The book was much more difficult...took out the 2 guards at the main entrance of Hearthglen as they see right thru stealth - rooted one, bear formed the other one until roots broke, then shifted out, stunned em, rooted again, and finished off the first guard. I was able to heal myself before the roots broke again and then took out the second guard. On to the town hall... stealthed in to the last room where the book is on the table guarded by the 2 pally's. I started off by throwing a rejuv & regrowth on myself, quickly shifted to bear and got started fighting (cant root indoors as others have said). When the pallys go to heal I would bash (stun) the one that I was fighting so she couldnt finish her heal. Used my frenzied regen, got her ALMOST dead and she started running around the room. I used this chance to shift out (had about 400 health or so by now) and used war stomp to stun the one still on me, throw a healing pot, regrowth and a rejuv, and then back into bear to finish off the one running around the room. After the one was dead it was straight forward from there...I gotta say it was a very tough fight tho with them healing each other.

I tried running into the hall for the libram as a 58 fire mage, threw up a mana shield, gathered all the mobs into a bunch in the main room away from the table, frost nova'd them, then got stunned by one of them after mana shield dropped. I was able to blink away with a tiny amount of health left, clicked on the book, it gave the progress bar (like 4s to open book I think), then my character promptly sat down in the middle of it interupting the book opening. I don't know what that was about. Of course by then the mobs had broken the nova and I died.

Then I spirited into the hall, realized the rare mob Scarlet Judge was there (and apparently why I was stunned). So I waited for the judge to reach the back of the room on the dais, res'd and sheeped him, evocation and a heavy runecloth, then remembering the advice of someone earlier regarding the use of the winterfall mechanical yeti, I summoned him in the middle of the room. Of course he aggros the sheep first, and was unable to do any damage to the Judge. I resheeped the judge when the yeti was at about 2/5 health, and the yeti stopped aggroing. Bandaged the yeti, then threw up a mana shield and walked into the two elites near the book, the yeti drew one (guess you have to summon him before drawing aggro to get him to grab everyone), the gaurd in the hallway behind came up and I was able to frost nova the remaining two, get the book and get out without a problem. So, I guess that was a wasted use of the yeti, oh well :)

This quest was pretty hard as a 57 hunter but only because i ran out of bullets ;;. the shield was much more difficult than the libram because i couldnt kill anything. I had pet run in and aggro everything and i looted the shield but one of the banshees kept on aoeing and interupted me. I did end up getting the shield but my pet died. The libram was prty ez. Just ran in FD then looted libram and ran. My pet didnt even die that time.

Coordinates are 64, 57 for the shield and 42, 18 for the libram

There use to not be any mobs inside by the
Libram. Looks like in a recent patch they
added 2 guards by the libram and the guard
closest to the hall is linked to the left
guard. So that's 3 56th level elites you
must contend with now.

I just solo'd it as a rogue. What I did was
sap the guard furthest from the hall. Then
blind the other guard. Also evasion. The
opening of the libram aggro's the hall guard.
But you have time to loot. Then hit vanish.
If something goes wrong vanish early try again.

Make SURE you click the BOOK. In the heat of the moment with a bad camera angle, it's easy to accidently click a chair through the table. Let me tell ya, having a seat while you're trying to grab and go....sucks.

The shield is cake. I just killed everything on the way just as I had to get the Cauldron in that area, and noticed the glowing shield on the left after killing only about 4 mobs. Looted it and all was well.

The book was very hard as a 60 pally. Doable solo, but only after a lot of effort, possibly potions, using LoH and bubbling a bit. I'm a Holy/Protect spec, with tier 0 gear.

I speculate that you may be able to run in (straight into the town hall and run straight to the book which is on the table immediately to your left when you walk in), aggro everything, bubble up, grab the book, then run out, losing aggro before you die.

However, I'm not sure if you can open the book while bubbled (you often can't do that sort of thing), and it's very possible you would die on the way out.

I was planning on trying this, but 3 other alliance were hanging around and helped me out. A 51 warrior, a 60 hunter and a 60 mage. It was cake with all of them.

Everyone complained soloing with a druid in this q.I have tryed and maneged from the first attempt.I'm a lvl 58 feral druid and I'm alchy.I killed the 2 guard at the entrance since they can see through stealth.Then I went in stealth all the way until the town hall.Inside there is one more pala but he doesnt atackif u aggro the 2 palas that are at the table.That was good:P.I went in the back of the room where they didnt atack and made severial potions : Superior Defense, Elixir of Fortitude, Brutal Force and agility.Then I ate a giant omlette (+12 sta and spirit).I went at them in catform after casting regroth+rej on me.I pounced one of the guards one of the guards then I lowerd his health at about half then I &*!@ed normal...barkskin+regroth+rej and then the HT.Notice that in the mid time they healthemselfs but at a high cost of mana.They can heal in total like 4 times.After this I beared,bash one one tryed 2 heal, mangle, and a few more atacks then I build up rage for frezyed reg.B4 I was at 800 health I activated frenziee reg.They have healed now at least 3 times.Bash was ready again.I bashed one of the pala, normalform+major healing potion+barkskin+inervate(mana low:P)+regroth+rej+HT.By now both of the palas have exhausted all of their mana.Very easy from here.Bear form, kill one of th pala(v easy if u ask me) then heal and kill the other pala.Piece of cake.After they are out of mana they are easy targets.So if u are alchy feral druid u can try this way.U only have to use Fortitude, Defense,Brutal Force , agility (for high crits) and a major healing potion.Hope this helps.Have fun!And .. DRUID RULES :P

56 NE Priest, solo'd.

The shield, as was said before, is super easy. It is located in front of the barn and has a purple glow to it. Very easy.

The book is difficult. Up into Hearthglen, and into the Town Hall, there are 2 56e Paladins in the doorway, 1 more in a hallway and 2 more guarding the book. Basically, I ran into the Town Hall as far as I could and placed myself right on top of the book (on the 1st table in the main hall). Of course, I died quickly and made a ghost run back upto my corpse. If you don't know where the book is, stay Ghosty and find it. You need to revive on it. Once you are ready, revive, hopefully only where the 2 book guarders aggro you. At that point, Psychic Scream, Shield, Open Book, Die.

That's all. I assume a Mage could do it as well by falling back and using Frost Nova to snare the 2 guards and then open the book and maybe Blink out? Rogue can Stealth it. Warrior can fear it as well. Lock can VW sac if they have instant summon. Paladin can bubble up. Hunter can FD away and use the pet as bait. Druid? Shaman? Anyways, some helpful stuff, I hope.

I wanted to share how I solved this problem with my 58 warrior. As a warrior, I lack the ability to stealth, etc. To get to the town hall, I had a palidan escort me to the building and we both got killed in the lobby by 3 Scarlet Palidans from inside and 1 from outside. The computer's strategy in my encounter was to fight us 1:1 with a palidan while the other healed them full time. My Palidan escort went offline due to a power outage, so I returned to the room alone. In the room with the libram were 2 55 elite palidan guards. I rezed in front of them at the table, hit rage, then intimidating shouted to fear them away, grabed the item and ran out the door. Made it to the street before the 5 guards got me. I thought I was out of luck until I remembered our ability to fear opponents. GL to future warriors.

I have no idea if this was a fluke or what, but i walked right into Hearthglen in stealth (i'm combat/assassination spec) right into the building, walked into the main room stood on the table got the book and left without ever fighting or seeing a guard for that matter...

Did this yesterday as a lvl 58 paladin together with a 55 priest. Getting in is the hard part. There's a lvl 61 elite walking around Hearthglen. Combine this with a lvl 55 priest who sits down for mana instead of running to avoid mobs, and someone's doomed to die. I ran ahead, then came back to res every time the priest died. Third time he got the boss on him, we both ran inside the town hall and both died in there.

Courpse walk back to the town hall, res in the innermost place where there are no mobs, regain health and mana, then the battle could start. I went tank on the 2 Scarlet Paladins, priest did some nice additional damage to them and I took care of my own healing (so he wouldn't get aggro). After those, we took out the closest one in the hall, just to be safe, then looted the book and HS out.

This was a nice mission.

Has anybody done this solo as a Druid?

It's okay talking of mind soothes, blinding, frost novas and fear spells - druids don't have anything remotely like that!

Entangle Roots won't work indoors and we have nothing to incapacitate guards or make them run about like lunatics in fear.

It's about time Blizzard upgraded Druids to something more than shapeshifting, minor casters and second-choice healers. Why should we have to rely upon grouping to do such mundane tasks! Warriors, Mages, Priests, Rogues, Paladins and Warlocks get all the glory and the best Instance Boss Drops; Druids are left with expensive repair bills and a bag full of trader garbage.

For a World that was created by Druids we have been given the dirty end of the stick as far as surviving is concerned.

60 Priest, I killed the two guards on either side of the entrance, but I dont think I even had to, Run into the building, using power word: Shield, then stand next to table pause for a moment or two to make sure all you've gathered all the enemy into your proximity. Hit them with psychic blast, then grab the book and go. True about accidentally getting the chairs though. I had to run out and back in 4 times before I got it right.

I did it solo with my holy priest. No dying.

I still had the Fordring quest so I talked with Myranda the hag and she gave me the Scarlet Illusion. I walked in the town hall and because of the buff the guards are friendly.

I went to the far side of the hall, removed the buff and mind soothed the guards. They didnt agro while I was looting. I moved out of ranged and HSed out of there.

I took the route of just riding into Hearthglen instead of stealthing past the guards. They saw through it even with the stealth talents that increase your level. Hmph. Anyway, ride in at full tilt, then vanish. It seems like the Scarlet Sentries are the only ones with improved stealth detection to me, so wasn't that difficult from there. Stealth into the town hall and locate the book room. I used Imp Sap on one of the guards (max 45 sec), then blinded the other (10 sec). I grabbed the book, stealthed again, and got far enough away to summon my mount before running back out of Hearthglen.

Level 59 Hunter.

My technique was poor. Sent my pet into the hall, and somehow ended up getting swarmed by 3 paladins outside. Maybe I hit multishot by mistake. Didn't even try and fight much. Went ahead and died.....

Made the long long run back and revived in the back of the room with the Libram. Called pet....got healed and ready to go.

Sent the pet in against one of the two pallys and the other aggroed on him at first...they sure did run around and heal often.....it was one of the longest and best fights I have had in WOW. Really fun.

I concentrated fire on paladin my pet was mixing with while I let the other pound on me most of the time....figured if one went down the two of us could handle the other. Pet and I both survived.... just barely. Grabbed the Libram. Hearthed to undercity....flew to chapel. Handed in the quest. Turned 60 upon completion (but still know very little about this game)

Umm a 60 rogue can't even stealth past the first 2 gaurds at the front gate? I have tried every way to get around those first to gaurds.. but they see me as if I'm not stealthed at all.

Tried to go to that room as per most people's instructions... only one problem: There was a rare mob in the room named Scarlet Judge, lvl 60 elite. As a 58 Rogue I took him out with some difficulty, had to use a pot. After he was dead, I used the sap-blind technique and got the book no problem. The guard from the hall didn't even aggro.

The Shield: Pretty easy, though I considered it to be the hardest out of the two. The shield is located in front of the barn, look for a blue glowing light.

The Libram: The easiest yet, though it may have only been easy for me because I'm a mage. I waited outside the town hall until I spotted an elite. I sheeped him and rounded up the others at the end of the hall and frost nova'd. I quickly scanned the room to see a book on the table with a blue aura around it. Got the book, blinked out, they gave up chase half way through.

Solo'd with lvl 58 warlock. I got lucky because there was a horde group clearing the elites from the entrance of Hearthglen - but when I got to the place where the book was - there were too many to take on alone.

I fired up the Void charged into the room and then threw a Howl of Terror - the guards ran, voidy followed and when the howl wore off, they went for void. I took the book and ran like I was at a looting. Still got killed, but rezzed at Chillwind, hopped a bird to EPL and cashed in the quest.

Inside the twon hall(with the clock tower).

Level 60 warrior. Ran in, put down intimidating shout. Tragerted book, sat down, got up, sat down, got up, sat down.

Good Job blizz put the book right next to 4 chairs, inspired!

This was shockingly easy as a level 60 warrior.

To get the shield, I had to kill five undeads who rushed me at once, but they fell easily and no more rushed me when I picked up the shield.

To get the libram, I went up the road to Hearthglen, killing the left-most or right-most mobs and then walking right past the others, which were too far for aggro range. Same for the gates to Hearthglen: kill the one on the right or the one on the left, but not both. Wall-hug past the mages beyond the gate, after which it was easy to just walk up to the town hall and kill one of the paladins guarding the door. After that, I burned an invisibility potion and ran to the end of the room where the libram was. Then, charge one of the two pallies standing guard, burn my indimidating shout, then take down the first pally. The second one comes back, I use a major healing potion, then take him down as well. I picked up the libram without any other aggro, then hearthed.

Easy as pie.

I solo'd this as a 60 undead mage. i just used imp counterspell on the paladin(s) when they tried to heal, polymorphing and cannibalizing whenever possible. Just make sure you don't aggro the 61 elite who walks up and down the road. You can outrun him though. Throw down a frost nova.

Getting Davils Libram is the hardest part. It is in a building to the west and the mobs respawn really fast. I did it with a 57 hunter and 60 pal (me). I Recommend 3 ppl. Redpaths shield is really easy. Just outside the Barn. Kill the undead 1 by 1 untill its all clear then loot the item.

Don't know why you found this hard. Lvl 57 hunter just ran (on mount) into the Town hall, FD in the safe part. Summoned pet then sent him to attack both the mobs at the end of the builing. Looted book, HS out no death not even my pet.

I had to follow standard procedure of dying near the safe end of the building. In my case I died outside but close enough due to massive guard aggro while trying to scout with Prowl'd pet. Anyway, after reviving, I sent the pet to attack the right guard (when facing them), but hallway guard aggroed as I tried to loot book. FD and try again. This time I sent pet on left guard which drew hallway guard to it. It survivied long enough with 3 guards pounding on him for me to loot book and run to safe and and FD. Hearthed out after that.

Did it as 59 Hunter, solo, just rushed in on mount, lost their aggro, no mobs in townhall, just looted the book, mounted and ran out again :P

was UBER easy with 57 hunter. i just ran into townhall, ran in the back of the hall with book, feign death (they didnt resisted that time), than i called my pet, sent him to those pallys, get the book, ran out of there, FD again and thats all +D (bad thing that pet died....)

Solo'd as a level 56 Rogue

Libram - Stealthed all the way to the inside of the building where the book is (Had to vanish.... a lot.) Waited for my vanish to cooldown then went to the guy on the right and sapped him, the guy on the left ran over, blinded him. Grabbed the book and vanished and hearthed.

The shield was actually more difficult. I died once because I agro'd a guy behind an object, so he had to run around it, agroing 10 other guys in the process. Other than that this quest was a piece of cake. :D

As a lvl 59 rogue I soloed the libram, by stealthing inside and sapping one of the guards - killing the other, and then killing the first. grba the libram and stealth outside.
So, it is possible dudes.

The shield is at 63,57 at Gahrron's Withering at the barn entrace it has a purple glow on it.

The Libram is at 42,18 at Hearthglen In the town hall, the house below the castle in hearthglen (can see on the map) then when you go in on the table you'll see a book glowing Purple.

i soloted this quest as a rogue 56 :)

loot the redpath's shield is quite easy, but book is much harder.

some rogues could do same:
on the way of the book, they are 56elite humans that see you about 3times the range of other normal mobs, so, be care

the book himself is guarded buy two 56elites, and and an other 56elite is not far away, and walks a little.

of course, you cant kill any of them at 56, but d'ont need to.

i distracted the one who walk, then, sap one who guards the book. the last 56elite comes on u, just go right on the book.
time for looting the book is 5seconds.
just do a gouge on the mob (improoved), so he is out for 5.5 sec. hurry looting the book, and vanish.
thats done ;)

libram part was fun! holy crap, 57 rogue solo.. went in broke stealth in mere moments because of no enchanced sneak talents... died on book. came back and rezzed in back of room where no mobs spawn, gained health in stealth and went up, sapped one, second came running, blind him, by the time i had looted the book, the hallway mob came running, vanish, good job me /pat on back.

Did as 57 lock, cleared outside guard. Ran in got aggro set imp to aggressive and used Howl of Terror. Got book ran out of aggro. Sorted but then something else killed me.... this is for Davil's Libram, the shield was easy enough.

Ok, I solo'd this quest today as a 57 paladin.
The trick is to have completed the winterspring quest that results in the Mechanical Yeti, then go and suicide in the part of the building that don't have any elites. After ressing, summon your mechanical yeti, and run over... yeti should survive long enough to get the libram. Then run for the hills!

P.S. The yeti will automatically run over there and start attacking.

Soloed as a 58 Warlock without dying.

Here's what I did for the Libram part.

I charged through the town towards the town hall on my mount, aggroed a couple of elites on the way but lost them so was able to rest by the hall.

Used the Eye of Kilrog to look inside to find the exact location of the book.

Ran in and sacrificed Voidy for the shield and went to the book. I was surrounded by 5 elites pounding on me and I used my Howl of Terror to send them away.

I opened and took the Libram and ran out with at this point about 12 elites following me down the road and somehow they pulled away from me and I could again rest and recover by a wall. Got back on mount and charged out of town without dying.

As a 56 lock, i found this tricky, but not impossible.

Shield was cake, 3 pulls and path was clear.

Libram cost me a death and some shards.

Scouted with Eye and saw that the pulpit in the town hall was clear, so i rode in full steam, but got knocked off my horse immediately. Hit my nifty stopwatch, and aggro dropped by town hall.

Quickly resummoned sacced voidwalker, ran in, sacced again, ran to pulpit, got CLOBBERED by 10 paladins.

Soulstoned at the pulpit. no aggro, summoned void, sent him at the 2 guards guarding the libram, once they started fighting - ran up started looting.

Got another aggro from the door, interrupted, sic'ed void on her, looted again, got it, void dead (FAST). took 2 steps, died. Spirit rez, 10 minute coffee break 1g50 repair tab gg.

Soloed as 59 SPriest.
Shield was easy - the book I died on my first attempt, my fear feared everyone but one so no book that time. I rezzed next to the two guards inside feared got book rand got out of there. But died as all of them hacked me to death. by the time i rezed at sprirt healer went to UC repaired and flew back to the chapel my 10mins rez sickness was up.

The shield also gave me a debuff called haunted It made me jump when this ghost npc was tagging along saying help us! The book gave the same debuff but i was only alive for 10secs xD

I would laso like to comfirm that the book and shield locations are correct from older posts.

To solo the Libram as a 58 Retribution Paladin, you will need Repentance.

1) Go to the house, carefully dodging each mob and taking care to avoid aggro.
2) Un-equip your armor. Run into the house past the mobs, go to the room where the book is and die in that room. Use Blessing of Protection on yourself if you need to.
3) Come back and res up at the safe side of the room.
4) Re-equip armor and get your mana and health up. If you have a sword and shield, equip it, and turn on Devotion Aura.
5) Note exactly where the book is. Run straight to the book, you will aggro the paladins. When you are standing next to the book, Hammer of Justice one of the paladins, then quickly Repentance the other one, right-click the book and loot it.
6) Run out and use Divine Shield to keep yourself alive.

Soloed as a lvl 60 warlock in the Classic Re-release.

Ran up to the building, hoping to not get dazed and dismounted. Killed one of the paladins outside. Summoned Voidwalker, ran in, sacrificed, howl of terror, looted the book, ran out again and de-aggroed the mobs.

The book is on the table on the left hand side as you enter the last room.

I just realized today, that if you wait until you're on the Scarlet Subterfuge segment of the Tirion Fordring quest line, you can literally just walk into Hearthglen as a friendly to the Scarlet Crusade (you get Scarlet Illusion) and loot the libram without combat, before escorting Taelan Fordring out of Hearthglen.

Easily soloable as a 58 Frost Mage.
Just make sure to interrupt the Paladins heals, they don't hit too hard.
If you manage your CC correctly this quest is a breeze.

Completed this on my 58 rogue, solo. The stealth detection of these guys is just CRAZY. Can't even get close without them smacking me. For the libram, I sprinted into the building and ran to the corner with the podium and vanished. Everyone reset. Whew. 2 paladins are standing right next to the table with the book on it (they pull together) and there's another just in the other room that pulls if you get too close. I distracted the 2 so I could get close enough to sap the one furthest away from the door. It's classic, so you come out of stealth with the sap. Waited for the other one to come to me, blinded that one and then picked up the book. I got it on my 3rd try, going back to my corner and vanishing if it wasn't going well. I waited for all the cooldowns to be up before each attempt. I lucked out on the 3rd, got the book and sprinted out. It wasn't the smoothest, but I was successful.

The easiest way to get Redpath's Shield is to go down the road to the east (that is towards Eastern Plaguelands) past Gahrron's Withering. Turn right across country far enough away to avoid pulling agro. Go past the first building and stop. This is the barn. To the left are two broken silos. The shield is at the front of the barn, at its corner, on the side of the barn nearest the silos. Being careful to manage your agro you will have four separate fights in this order: a Wailing Death, another Wailing Death, a Haunting Vision, and finally, both at once, a Hungering Wraith and another Wailing Death. The shield is on the ground, surrounded by a glowing nimbus. Grab it and run back the way you came.

If you still have the Mechanical Yeti that you got from the Goblin Umi Rumplesnicker in Everlook in Winterspring it is the perfect thing to use to get Davil's Libram. The Mechanical Yeti will distract the guards utterly. See my comment on the Davil's Libram page.

WELCOME TO 2024! Nothing else in this entire thread is relevant anymore.

No idea why this hasn't been mentioned, but the libram is now in the same house as the shield (Eastern Plaguelands)! Go to the upstairs room and look inside the empty fireplace.

/way 22.32, 68.18

One ghost dog guards the shield, and nothing guards the libram.

I hope this saves you the hour I spent looking all over...
