The key drops off a random mob in Shadow Hold. I got it on my first kill, but I've seen others take a dozen kills to get it. If you are doing the quest to extinguish the flames, this is worth finding.

As always, right-clicking on the key starts the quest. My key dropped inside Shadow Hold while killing mobs to do "Dousing the Flames of Protection."

Arko'narin can be found inside Shadow Hold. See Toabo's post for the location.

Once inside the Shadow Hold, the location of Arko'narin shows up as yellow dot on the mini-map. So, finding her is not a problem.
Completing this quest leads to Rescue From Jaedenar.

Sorry no offense but I got screwed over by these pathetic and not very informative comments.

The escort itself is easily doable by a level 55 but the hard part is when you set foot outside the Shadow Hold, the Spirit of Trey, a lvl 53 elite mob will attack you. You will also most likely attract 2 regular 52 mobs which then turns pretty hard. Either bring potions or have another person accompany you.

Watch out the key will go INTO your keyring bag. I thought I picked it up but i could not find it in my bags so I spent the next hour trying to find another. It goes into your Key ring!

All went well, except that after we got out of the cave, we were supposed to fight some kind of boss. The boss never appeared and she was kneeling the entire duration for about 3 minutes. Her conversation was:
"What was that, Trey? Trey! No! What Have they done to you! No! My friend...what's happened? This is all my fault..."

She then runs and dissapears. You turn in the quest at Jessir Moonbow at Emerald Sanctuary in Felwood 51,82. 5650xp at level 58

Like the poster above.. I get the Nelf from the cage, fight our way deeper in the cave to get her equipment, fight our way out of the cave, an elite ghost "Trey" or whatever his name is, comes after her - another fight, got 4 adds and died. After ALL that damn fighting only to wind up to die at the end. Did I try again? Hell no. Not worth it to me. (lvl 57 Full Shadow Priest btw)

Hmmm, was the quest changed? Have done this half a dozen times at least and haven't been attacked by any Elite's. Trey is her friend that was killed. After you go back to the camp and turn in the quest, you have to go back to the cave and retrieve Trey's remains and also kill the mob responsible for his death.

The quest is not nerfed. To start it you don't click on the cage, you click on her inside the case and talk to her. This completes the key quest. Then she asked you to accept a send quest to escort her. If you fail on th escort quest the first time, you can abandon the quest in you quest log and get it from her in the cage again. You do escort her down to get her gear and back out and once outside elite Trey's ghost appears and you have to fight him. Turn in is at Emerald Santuary and you get the next quest to rescue Trey's remains.

Also- Once you get the key- Watch out for sad ninja players hanging around her cage waiting for you to defeat the mobs and then running in and opening the cage after you have done the hard work. There's a hill/bank to the right and some peeps camp up there waiting for you to do the hard work. Sad but true...and then you cant complete Q as she's off and running with them.

Number 22 on in game annoyances for me :-)

Good news is they died a little further on- what goes around comes around

the NE is cool but she acts insane after u completed ur quest..watch out for the elite he will appear right after u finish the quest...and nice xp too..

You do have to kill lvl 53 (for me) elite caled spirit of trey lightforge, You have to get to Jessir in Emerald circle camp. i done it at lvl 3, im so leet.

This quest ain't too bad, first you have to find the Blood key which is a random drop from the mobs inside the shadowhold, I found mine from a mob around the Elf's cage. When you find it Right click the key to get the quest accept it and talk to the elf (spent a while wandering why the cage didn't open while I kept right clicking it). She then says she needs her gear so she goes further in the cave. DO not be fooled even for a 48 this elf kickz azz she can tank the mobs of her level (for a good time but she'll die eventually).

My plan was I went ahead (since my agro circle was smaller) and pulled mobs to her, and we dpsed the down one by one. THings went smoothly until you reach a open area inside the cave (as in it has a large amount of space) and she sees her gear. Immediatly I pulled the mons to the left and killed them then all the other mobs (not 2 many) when the place was cleared she went to go get her gear which makes her likie 3 times stronger. When she gets it she makes some comment and 3 lvl 55 mobs spawn. Since the place was cleared no other mobs came with the 3 55's so I let her go ahead and tank 2 while I dpsed the other down. Then took the second and we dpsed the third *occasionally take a look at her health to see how she's faring*. After all this she decides to get out of the place, I followed the steps of pulliing ahead as I did in the beginning. When I was about to reach the entrance of the cave pull the 2 guards standing guard of the entrance and killed them. She then goes through a speech of trey and this 53 elite pops out, he hits hard and fast so fight wisely. When he dies the quest will complete and she'll just run off. I attempted this thrice on a 56 druid on a low pop server (not one was around). Hope this was helpful :D.

The quest does have a lvl 53 elite at the which is trey. After you kill it you go back to emerald and get the quest to retrieve his remains. Did it no problem at all as a level 56 lock. Just set my VW on one mob and depending how many we had to fight i would take my own or help the elf. Worked like a charm. But a good thing to do is kill all mobs between where she is and her stuff and not loot them that way it takes longer for them to respawn and you dont have to mess with most of them just the ones that auto appear. Quest was worth it to me after getting the 9050 exp reward for it at lvl 56. Got me to level to 57.

The key is used on a girl in a cage in Shadow Hold in Jadenaar. You will have to escort her to the bottom of the cave to get her armor. I'm a 56 warlock and luckily a priest came along doing another quest and followed me/healed me (thanks Fathersativa)... i wouldn't have made it alone. At the end of the escort when she runs out of the cave you have to fight a 54 or 56 elite. You turn it in at Emerald Sanctuary and you'll get this quest: Retribution of the Light.
PS - when i handed in the escort quest the story made me cry lol <3 female WoW players ftw!

I got the key from a mob but then I couldnt see it in my bag :S I killed another mob got it again but it was unique and said that i already got one.....but it wasnt in my inventory :Such a bug!

I found this quest quite hard to solo, i'm a lvl 56 mage.

Did it today on second attempt. First try the elf got killed and i ran back to the cage then restarted the quest.

First part is easy until she gets her equipment. Then, 3 guards lvl 53 spawn and about the same time, 2 more warlocks i had killed be4 respawned. Had to polymorph one and summon water elemental and managed to killed the 5 with the help of a health potion and a mana citrine.
Right after that part she enters a hall with 3 more guards which also spawn when she gets the equipment. That's where she got killed 1st time but second the mobs that were there before hadn't respwned and 3 mellee mobs are easy to handle for a frost mage. just cold snapped and summoned elemental again to help deal with them.
The rest of the quest is pretty easy.

Just try to clean the whole area fast and then run to get the quest so that u can avoid the respawns while fighting the mobs that spawn.

is it just me or is the elite hard? he hitted me for like 400/hit.. and im a shaman with mail..lvl 53.. i soloed the first part pretty easy.. but then when i came out of the cave the elite just spawned infron of me just after i killed 2 mobs.. means almost no mana left.. failed and had to do it again

When I finally found that key and got this bloody elven female out of her cage, I followed her to her equipment. When she put it on we were attacked by three guards (legionaries). After it we went as she said "to the fresh air" and then we were attacked by her friend's ghost, a 54 lvl elite with a glowing sword (just like her weapon). I died cuz i hadn't expected that, and I had no mana when I started fighting. The sides of this battle: 1) Me with this stupid 48 lvl elf 2) About 4 mobs that were agroed and this bloody elite. I was totally shocked that I had failed, because of my equipment and overall gaming skill. Had just a kind of badluck...

Trey is a nasty lttle surprise. The insta-respawn warlocks aren't too much fun either, not to mention the odd phantom add or two. The only way my 56 hunter got this done was with a little help from a few people who happened to be wandering through and killing various mobs.

Not only is Trey no fun, but all 247 of the mobs you killed on the way in will be waiting for you on the way out with more than just a bad attitude. At least the caged elf is a little sturdier with her armor and the sword. Without it, rabbits killed her.

Either plan this as a group quest or wait until someone comes along; it's not a matter of your firepower or skill - it's all about her ability to survive while you are killing dozens of annoying schmucks.

Darn!

I looted Blood Red Key, and forgot to right-click to get the quest.
Then I just clicked on the cage and nothing happened, except that the key disappeared in my inventory.
After a while of grinding another key dropped, but now it says that I can't loot it because I have it already :S

What to do?

Kill enough Jaedenar and this key should drop. Once it does, enter the underground lair (Shadow Hold?) that is located in the NW corner of the camp. (NW of the corrupted green moonwell in the rear of the camp). Once inside, you'll follow the ramp down and eventually come across Arko'narin in a wooden cage. Talk to her to complete the quest.

Tried this with my 52 Druid. Although you can do the first part of this quest solo, once she gets her gear the amount of mobs that appear are ridiculous to try and solo with her. At least 6 mobs appear right after. I'm sure someone will post they soloed it as level 10 hunter lol, but it's smart to have at least two do this quest to keep agro off of her.

solo'd as a 55 warlock, but i must admit that was REALLY heard. had to try and walk a little ahead to drink and eat, and used many runecloth bandages. These felguards were needed also so i could get felguard essences but of course they still didnt drop. :(

but yea i would recommend doing with another person, but prolly a hunter or warlock could do it solo :O

If you have having trouble using the key click on the question mark above the cage not the cage itself. When you have the cursor in the correct spot it should change from a gear to a chat bubble. That lets you target and talk to Captured Arko'narin. Beware this is an escort quest so bring some backup.

You turn this in at an NPC fairly close to the front of the cave (bottom of first ramp you go down, near the first brazier). The NPC then tries to get you to do an escort quest that, according to the wowhead comments, is pretty tough to solo. But you still get 5500 or so XP just for turning the key in even if you pass on the escort.

This is another example of a stupid bugged quest that they never fixed. As your going down the tunnels she's moving really slow, as soon as you get to the bottom with the big chamber she starts running to one corner for no bloody reason and pulls 4 mobs. I am level 60, I was killing 2 mobs on the other side and I turned around and this stupid elf was just running and then bam 6 mobs and I'm dead and I don't want to do this stupid freaking quest again. God dammit fix your bloody game blizzard.

So wiped after she got her gear, 3 demosn spawned, 2 more lock ty;pe of orcs were there with an imp each, plus a melee orc. That's 8 mobs. Needless to say we just died very quick. I'm level 58.

This quest is started by Blood Red Key . It drops from mentioned mobs in the cave, if you click on the link. You can do the escort quest together with Dousing the Flames of Protection . She walks to the last 2 braziers to get her armor. So she basically helps you doing the quest. :) Sometimes waves of 3 mobs spawn and at the end an elite spawns, so it can be tough, but is possible to solo this.

The small red key seems to be made of some kind of bone material. It is heavy in your hand, but appears very fragile. Why would a member of the Shadow Council have such a thing? Perhaps there is something within Jaedenar that this strange key unlocks.
