I had the most luck with the "Gibbering Ghouls" in Corin's Crossing then I did with the others.

There are quite a few diseased flayers around 68,41 that can be killed for this quest. Much quicker than getting the odd one in Corrin's Crossing or in the north of EPL.

I used the location above (68, 41) on my Warrior, and it worked really well. Just on the first sweep through I got ten down, and it honestly could have been more if I widened my search area. Do NOT go to Corin's Crossing. If you can't heal, you're as good as dead. Even if you can, you will more than likely get overtaken by their summonings, and patrols that occur. I went there, changing from 68, 41, and I died before I even killed the first one. It was an open clearing, with one enemy... then two shades joined in, and then two mages. He summoned the shades (level 56), and the mages wandered into me. Warriors: STAY AWAY FROM CORIN'S CROSSING!

Personally, I think this quest is great, especially for First Aid users. The Runecloth drop rate here is great. I started with 2 Heavy Runecloth Bandages, ended with 12, and that's with my use of them. I didn't have to eat a single bit of food.

Oh, and that Ghoul Rot debuff will hurt you. It gives you a -10% chance to hit, which means you'll be missing a lot more often than normal, a LOT more often. If you're a class that can debuff this, you'll want to do so just as soon as it hits you. Great place to quest, but it can be a slow grind.

66,40 Eastern Plaguelands. Just went around killing the skeletals. After killing some of they spawned theese human male/female ghost just rightclick them and speak to them:)

I would suggest you kill the Gibbering Ghouls at Corin's Crossing instead. Otherwise you'll be going up against level 58 and 59 diseased flayers, where the Ghouls are only around 56. Not to mention there is WAY more at Corin's crossing.

The guys at 68,41 have a HUGE aggro radius (although a guildie said it only happens sometimes). I wasn't within range of using my bow (35 yards) when they would aggro. Some aggrod at up to 45-55 yards.

Gibbering Ghouls seem to share spawn with Stitched Horrors, so if there are no any Ghould, kill fat boys

There are few of all these mobs, and then I mean everywhere. If you got lots of quests Id suggest you do them first, this quest isn't really good xp/hour.

There are three locations for the spirits.

1. Corin's crossing (59,72)level 54-56 mobs
2. Browman mill (67,49) level 58-60 mobs
3. Plaguewoods (34,34) Level 54-56 mobs

There is no one great spot for them. They are spread out and are not easy to find.

For you low level i suggest you hit plaguewoods. But everything is spread out and you better watch out for a killer elite patrol. They have a deadly knock back.

Anyone 56+ hit browman mill. Everything is nice and together.

On another note, the ghouls respawn as stiches, plus the warriors and mages. So make sure you kill everything and not just the ghouls because most likely they will not respawn as ghouls again.

O yes this quest took me about two hours and i !@#$ing hated every minute of it. At least i leveled! Woot!

I got all of my spirits from the Gibbering Ghouls at Corin's Crossing in Eastern Plaguelands. Every time you kill an undead in the area, it respawns with a different one. So if you run out of ghouls just kill the mobs around the outskirts of town until they spawn again. The souls even come out if someone else has killed them. Make sure you talk to the spirit to get credit.

Diseased flayers (lv57-59) @ 66,43 have 100% ... "drop" rate of the souls.

I just followed the crimson patrol in plaguewoon - they kill everything on their way XD Wait for them to walk away and talk to the soul

Best kills are at plaguewood in easter plaguelands, go to where the road turns to stratholme and just run around killing 54-55 cannibal ghouls.. Real easy..

what you guys dont seem to understand is that they respawn as ghouls for every undead you kill. so the reason you guys arent seeing any ghouls is because you dont kill any undead. SO kill all the stitches and shriekers u see!

It's hard to find the mobs, you get spirit on every kill tho.

EDIT: After i did this quest i went to Terrordale and saw that there is alot Cannibal Ghouls in the houses :D

I was mildly surprised that there was no increase in Argent Dawn reputation when I turned this in. I can't remember whether or not I checked when I turned in Villains of Darrowshire. I'll certainly check when I turn in Heroes of Darrowshire later this week.

I've had the same problem of quests not counting kills in Winterspring.

If you have been raiding lately, you may still be in a raid of 1. I was and as soon as I dropped my raid, I was fine.

You may need to rejoin a raid and leave to fix it if you've logged while in a raid.

I spent most of saturday finding the canabillistic ghouls south of Scholo and was able to free 13/15 spirits.

I went back today and killed 2 more ghouls, but it did not give me any credit. I talked to the spirit, I looted the corpse, I'm still at 13/15.

I have an open case with blizzard about this and I read on Thottbot that someone else had this problem as well.

So if you're gonna do this quest, do it all at once or fall victim to the bug :(

I have been doing this quest for 1/2 hour, killed about 10 creatures, and have gotten NO credit for any one of them. They talk to me, but no credit for killing them is being recorded. What's up?

59,68. Corin's Crossing

I've noticed many of you have been trying to kill the ghouls around Plaguewood. I've tried it to but after 45 min I got 5 freed spirits. Then I whent down to Corin's Crossing and got the quest done pretty quick.

This is a good quest to do with A Plague Upon Thee. if you go to the northern part of Eastern Plaguelands you can find a lot 53-55 undead in Plaguewood that easily killed. Also thats where the termite mounds are located. Its worth it to kill the other undead for the Scourgestones. You'll also need to be careful as there are 57-58 level Abominations roaming. They are easy to avoid, but are brutal if they agro. I completed these quest as a level 53 warlock.

I got the spirit on every kill. It took me a while to get 15 since there are few of them.

I was able to collect 2 spirits before the patch came out. Since the patch I have had 4 spirits rise out of the killed monstors however they will NOT release. A couple of persons in our guild is having the same problem.

I've tried to do this quest and went to cornin's crossing and found one ghoul. i was like ... ok. so i read the quest log and it said plague wood so i headed there. Walked all around it and found two. also about the Abominations aren't that strong. I'm a 55 hunter and I perpusely look around for them because of good exp

I sent a message to Blizzard tech support reporting the bug in this quest. I received an automated response telling me to return to the NPC who originally gave me the quest - Carlin Redpath in the Eastern Plaguelands. How that is going to help is beyone me? Come on Bliz...ur making millions, if not billions, on this game...I am sure you have the know-how to fix it...you created it!

Ya, me lvl 55 Hunter just killed 2 ghouls, and got no credit for them either..Not in raid...talked to the spirit a bunch of times...lotted corpse....still jack all

The re-spawn rate is slow. I could only get 1 or 2 each time I passed by Corin's Crossing. Turn quest to Carlin Redpath 81, 59

I swear the person that made these quests just does it to piss people off. There are almost no spawns. And when you do find one its in the middle of like 10 things you dont need. Killing 15 of these is taking hours. Such a bull^&*! quest.

/Target Cannibal Ghoul (These are by far the best to farm - They are Northern Plaguelands, specifically in PlagueWood where the termite quest is.

Those are your primary targets. They are 57-59 mobs.
Be careful as stealth - Unseen Servant mobs are stealthed and have stealth detection. They will pull you out of stealth which ends up pulling other mobs with it.

Cannibal Ghouls near Strat work too. Do this with the quest "A plague upon thee" to collect the termites.

I can confirm the area north of the Eastwall tower, around 66,41 is best. The Scourge Guards are far less dangerous than the Scourge Champions in other areas and are generally lower level. Browman's Mill and Corin's Crossing both also have banshees that fear and debuff your tohit rating, and Corin's Crossing has a ton of casters and stealthed mobs.

If the eastwall tower area is overfarmed and you're looking for another area, go to Browman's Mill. Be careful and check up the ramp into the noxious glade, but not too far inside.

If your only option is Corin's Crossing, I'd go do something else. Fishing is nice.

I tried to review the other comments before mentioning this. For me - best spot was north of Eastwall Tower BUT if you wipe out all the Scourge Guards, they come back as diseased flayers. That's how I was able to round this up in about 20 mins instead of HOURS. Kill Scourge Guards. Wait for their bodies to disappear. Flayers will rise up out of the ground soon after. I hope this helps! <3

For what it's worth, I got 7/15 of these done at Corin's Crossing. I started from the West side and was going around the South side of town (not through) because I am only lvl 55. I had the intention of skipping Corin's because other posts said it's not worth it, but I found gibbering ghouls all along the southside of town. Just plucked them off one by one, they were far enough apart not to aggro others.

What most people fail to realize is that the Ghouls/Disease Flayers share spawns with the Banshees and Scourge Guards. If there are no ghouls, kill the other things in the area.

the Inn at 17.34 is where i found all of mine once every 4th kill I would get a spirit to click on, and You better click fast on that spirit

Defenders of Darrowshire does NOT actually require Uncle Carlin, it is only a breadcrumb. Also you are way more likely to already have Carlin Redpath's quest started or even completed before meeting Pamela Redpath and assembling her doll.
