Once you finish "picking" a relic, no matter whether you looted it or not 2 lvl 54-55 Highborne will spawn and attack you, regardless of how far you are.

If you pick up the relic and immediately mount and ride away you can get away from the spawning spirits most of the time.

let's see... there are some courious thing on the lakes u will easily find them... but after u picked up the relic 2 monsters will attack u

Did this at level 57. I picked all four with no spawns. Did the whole quest without fighting one mob.

Fun time killing the highborne spawns as a AoE-geared Prot Pali. It was so easy, and nice runecloth drops.

go to the Relic at 52,42 then go into inventory right click pick and it should mine. I had bug and that worked. Make sure you are on top of or near relic.

All of the relics are found on the frozen lake just South South West of Everlook. The lake is filled with water elementals (levels 56 to a possible rare 60 elite spawn) and undead spirits.

One relic is at the north part of the lake, another east, south and west.

Beware though, because everytime you mine a relic it releases 2 undead spirits levels 54-56 after you.

picked them all up in no particular order

if you need to....just run off as soon as you loot the relics to avoid aggro

all above places are in the frozen lake kel' theril south from the quest giver.
Every time you open a relic spawns 1 or 2 undead 55lvl but you can take the relic and run if you dont want to waste time...

I found Aurora Skycaller at coords 53:21 in Eastern Plaguelands. For those without coords it is below Quel'Lithien Lodge in the north central part of Eastern Plagulands.

This was as of 25 AUG 06.

For those without coords, type /m to create a macro, hit the New button, type a name for it, get the I beam on the text area, and copy and paste the following:

When you use this macro, it will tell you what zone you're in and the coords of where you are standing!

The fragments are all located as follows:

First Relic: 55,42
Second Relic: 50,41
Third Relic: 53,43
Forth Relic: 52,41

After obtaining all fragments, it asks you to go to Aurora Skycaller in Eastern Plaguelands at Northpass Tower. She is located at 2 locations, she goes back and forth to them. As follows:

Location 1: 52,21 (at a small moonwell below the
lodge north west of the tower)
Location 2: 56,24 (inside Northpass Tower)

If you don't have a UI or macro that tells you locations; here's one you can use:

Jaron is in Eastern Plaguelands at cords 53,21 i have also attached 2 pics.

She is not in castle she is just left of it when facing castle. She's hidden in between some tree's...

Just managed to solo this as a 54 warrior. When looting the fragments, there are a couple of seconds before 2 spirits appear and attack.

If you run towards a safe area immediately after looting, it is possible to escape the spirits without fighting (one tends to be a caster and, aside from casting curse of weakness, soon drops out of range & the other only pursues for a short while)

Easysauce as a pally. Never healed as a 57.

1) Walk up to one of the rune spots.
2) Get the rune.
3) Wait 1.5 seconds.
4) Cast your AoE undead/spell (something of wrath, can't remember the name exactly)
5) Exorcism one of the undead (the warrior), fear the other.
6) Beat the crap out of the caster undead, use exorcism.
7) Beat the crap out of the warrior undead, use exorcism.
8-28) Repeat.
29) Fly/hearth to eastern plaguelands.
30) Ride north to 53,22 near the Northpass tower.
31) Turn in quest.

Yay.

im actually having problems finding the first fragment. I can get the others by picking the ice at the other locations but whenever i try picking for the first fragment i get nothing and i must fight the two mobs that spawn everytime i try which is very annoying.

I have tried abandoning the quest and destroying the items to restart the quest but still there is this problem. Am i the only one experiencing this?

I got all three first relics, but when digging for the last one nothing came inside the hole.

A GM told me to get rid of all quest items and re-start quest but no success.

Their reply: We are working on this issue...

Step 1: mine the node (any one in the quest), spawning the Highborns

BUT DON'T take the mining result!
So, especially, DON'T Shift-Click the node!)

2: kill the highborns for their drops

Rinse and repeat until bags full of vendor trash, for several gold.

Run north to town to sell and repeat until bored or rich!

this is particularly easy for a 55-56 caster.

Reading some posts about this quest i didnt know where to go to hand it in so i to all the cords people said and the 53,22 is right, i done this quest as a level 53 hunter when i done the first one i nearly died i didnt know thay come and attack so ohwell i done it now.

Just approach the lake, make the holes needed and feint to get rid of the ghosts. If needed, distract the spirits guarding the holes with your pet and run to the next one.

Easy as pie if you are careful. :)

I am having the sam problem. I use the pick and don't get a relic, just the two mobs. Tried over and over-very frustrating!

I had trouble mining some of the relic fragments.

The method that finally worked for me was:

1.) Mine as many as you can
2.) Place the relics in the bank
3.) Abandon the quest and delete Jaron's pick
4.) Wait a few days (possibly until a server restart)
5.) Accept the quest again
6.) Attempt to mine the relics you don't have
7.) If there are still relics you can't mine, repeat steps 2-6 until you have them all.

This can be a long process (over a week for me), but I believe that it will eventually work. I had to play the waiting game twice (each time I was able to get 1 more relic), so your mileage may vary.

Soloed as 54 druid. Found the 4 parts per the tloc coords listed below. I'm not sure what the problem was with the poster who had to drop the quest, wait for a server restart, etc. Perhaps the quest was bugged earlier, but it's sure easy now.

Should have waited a while though. This will hold down 5 bank slots till I'm high enough to get to where it's turned in.

Did this as a level 55 druid.

I entangled a mob sitting next to the ice cap, opened it, the 2 spawned and hit natures's grasp on myself and ran. Repeat repeat repeat :)

As for the coordinates, just come in from the north and you'll see them all at the surface of the lake.

Make sure you take extra precautions, the Anguished Highbornes hit for 270-280 Mind Flay damage and Curse of Agony

Aurora Skycaller in Eastern Plaguelands is no longer in the tower after the 1.12 patch. She is now WNW of the Northpass tower at location 53,22.

I did this at 54. If you're a hunter, lay down a freeze trap. One of the mobs will be stuck in it, giving you time to kill the other. If your freeze doesn't work, aggro both with your pet and run him of the screen. Very easy if ya' do it this way... least it was for me.

Unless you can stealth, don't do this alone.
I just stealth my way to each rune and wait for the mobs to turn their backs.
And wait until Princess and her guards passes by.

Indeed, the quest appears broken as you can get the 2-4th pieces, but the 1st wont be given. I tried to harvest the ice cap 11x and nothing. A priest there had been trying as well and could get 2, 3 and 4 but it would never give piece #1. Way to go Blizzard :/

The coords by Destrix above are correct (thanks Destrix!)
All you have to do is:
1) Looking for an easy path to ecsape
2) Dig holding the shift button pressed
3) Run away as quick as you can.
Smooth and easy!

Having same problem with picking the ice. I've received fragment 1 and 3, but everytime i try on 2 or 4, get nuthing except 2 mobs attacking. Any one besides Scarkh and i have this problem. Frustrating..need this for next quest in chain. HELP!

I tried last night on Eldre' Thalas for over an hour and while I was able to get all but one. I worked on it for over an hour and never did it give up the item that I needed.

Solo'd as a 55 druid. After mining and auto-loot, I'd go to bear form and take off. The ghosts soon gave up the chase. Didn't have any problem :)

You will find these fragments on the frozen lake near the Kel'Theril Ruins. They look like discolored holes or cracks in the ice. Each time you pick up a fragment, 2 lvl 54-57 Spirits attack you, so be ready for a fight.

Once you've used the pick and have received the fragment 2 undead mobs will appear ... this is after every fragment.

You have a choice ... fight or flight. You can stay around and fight, as they're typically lvl 55 or 56 or you have time to call your mount and run without having to fight.

Your choice.

I got all the fragments. As a lvl58 hunter I laid a Freezing Trap at each before mining. Captured one and killed the other. The first released just before the other died. Cat took agro of both. Hardly any damage done to me.

What do we do with the pick? Still there afer cashing in.

The highborne spirits are miserable creatures, that's for sure. They are still searching for pieces of the very thing that has cursed them to Kel'Theril forever -- the stolen relic.

If you are that interested, take my pick and go south to the lake, see if you can gather the pieces of it from within the ice.

Now, I can't tell you a thing about what you find, but I do know of someone who might... Aurora Skycaller; she dwells near the Northpass Tower in the northern part of Eastern Plaguelands.
