It's there, there are 4 trap spawns that I've found, they seem to respawn fairly quickly, they are arranged in an arc around the end of the dock.

I mentioned this in the Bloodbelly Fish quest, but the traps are often camped. The traps have a chance of dropping a Big Iron Fishing Pole, which sells for a fair bit on the AH. Mentally lazy players usually camp the traps in hopes of getting a few poles to sell.

I gave in 10 shellfish, but he takes them all but the quest tracker only counts one, check your inventory :) It does give both.

At lvl 33 this is the best quest to get some quick gold when you arent out questing. Especially as a warlock, just throw on Unending Breath... As for the empty traps, the mobs provide decent xp and you still get loot.

Who was that @&! who said "this quest is waste of time"? And "most of the cages are empty"? -.- LOOL. most of the cages drop 2-3 fish, rarely they dont drop anything (in this case a crab attacks you, but they are not too strong) and sometimes they drop green fishing poles, or gray armors that you can sell for 40-50 silver. Quest reward is 55s and a good fish that restores much health, and you can sell 1 fish for 62 copper. QUEST IS REPEATABLE! IF YOU WANT TO GET 20 GOLD IN AN HOUR, DO THIS QUEST!

id say that if it wernt for the over crowding, and then when all the lowbies left there whould always be one doosh who would speed hack i just got tired of reporting him so i left gut this quest is still awsome! XD

Hunters proceed as follows;

Aspect of the cheetah(yes it works in the water)

Swim to cage and set a freezing trap

Open cage

If empty the crab bastard is frozen if somthin is there then u only wasted like 50 mana

Loot and go to the next cage

I thought this was the dumbest quest in the world until i realized aspect worked in water =P after i tryed speed looting and got attacked twice i decided to take a different approach bingo nothing but shellfish and boots and sandals for some reason

The key is for us speed demons who dont care what they loot to NOT Shift-loot or is it Control.....either way dont hold....w/e button while opening just open it and loot with patience.

This quest is actually really simple and easy. Took me between five and ten minutes as a Lvl 34 Shadow Priest. I just used Psychic Scream on the fish that came when the cages were empty and then moved on to the next cage. There are bubbly fissures strategically placed so that you can stay under the whole time.

I can't remember the name of the NPC, its something in Troll, but he is the troll standing on the harbour bridge (the one with a wind rider on) in Shadowprey Village. He is wearing fishing gear and has a rod.

The traps are nearby underwater, mostly on the side of the pier that the NPC is standing on. They just lookl like cages and are openable. This is also the only place to get the best fishing rod, Big Iron Rod.

Some posters are saying you get 55 silver for the 5 shellfish, others are saying 50 copper.

Which is it, please?

Do you get 55 silver the first time you turn in 5 (for the quest that gets you the bloodbelly fish) and 50 copper for each five after that or is it 55 silver everytime or 50 copper everytime?

I'm trying to get myself one of those +20 fishing poles, since the Sunday Fishing Contest (where you get the +35 one) is always swamped by bored lvl 70s (and their epic steeds and memorized fishing locations) with nothing better to do (evidently).

This quest was a little annoying, for awhile I kept having empty traps. Also it pays to be Undead in this quest, as the extra Underwater Breathing helps a lot. There are fissures that I think give off air bubbles so you can stay underwater longer.

The inside is...after maybe an hour mayber an hour and a half, the chances of walking away with the 15g AH, Big Iron Fishing Pole, are pretty good. Shellfish are garbage.

I think you might have to talk to the troll each time before you start diving, though. The second time I tried this without talking to the troll beforehand and all I found were empty pots some unspectacular miscellaneous gear. Then I went and talked to the troll, then went back in and started finding shellfish.

Even after that, it took me longer to find the shellfish than it did when I was originally looking for them to get the tauren's fish for the other quest.

Jinar`Zillen is the NPC. Collect 5 shellfish then talk to him. The reward was 50 copper pieces and the fish.

This quest is great, every 5 shellfish you can turn in for 55s, and a fish. Having a Azure Silk Belt, a lvl 30 green cloth belt helps because it increases your swim speed by 15%.

Gather shellfish from underwater shellfish traps. For every 5 shellfish you return, you get 50 copper (!) and a bloodbelly fish. Bloodbelly fish are a tasty treat (1392 health) and are needed for the Catch of the Day quest.

The traps can be found in deep water of the docks in shadowprey village. When you open some of the traps a lvl 34 Drysnap Crawler appears instead.

As of the time of this writing, the NPC for this quest is a little screwed up, doesn't have the usual exclamation/question marks. But if you bring him the shellfish, he will give you the fish you seek.

Is the quest repeatable? it would seriously suck if there were a limit? this quest is great for shammys, Locks and Druids cause they all have unlimted breathing buffs

Confirming in Classic that handing him the 5 Shellfish will net you 55 silver per hand in.
As a Druid this is a pretty decent method of making a bit of gold in your spare time ;)

I looted a shellfish trap and used my totem weak auras to time it, the respawn time is exactly 3 minutes. so find a circuit that makes your circuit take almost exactly 3 minutes and you will optimize your shellfish pick up and make pretty decent pace

it takes about 1,000 shellfish for 100g, good luck, im at 60 shellfish so far.

Pretty nice source of early gold, assuming you're not fighting over cages with someone else you're making 1g every 5 minutes.

If you are farming the Big Iron Fishing Pole as Alliance, you will get a bunch of Shellfish which you can sell on the neutral AH.
I usually put em up for 40-45s and they sell quite fast. Good thing is; it doesn't cost you anything to list them on AH.

Absolute garbage quest. 20 plus cages open = 1 shellfish and 19 crab attacks.

1.) If not undead, go to Gnomeregan and get the Hydrocane off the Viscous Fallout (1st mob when you drop down off the edge to the big gear below, easy kill)
This will give you water breathing.
2.) Go to AH and buy an Azure Silk Belt, this will give you a 15% swim speed boost.
3.) Grind for about 3 days to make gold, 5 shellfish will get you 55 silver from the troll on the dock. (repeatable)
4.) Rewards: Vendorable greys, some greens, an occasional Big Iron Fishing pole.
Hint: As an additional reward, you will get pet food in the form of fish from the troll. You can save 5 fish to turn in at the Tauren who is hungry in Ghostwalker pass,
BUT IF YOU DO this will end the questline and you can no longer farm the shellfish for the troll.
This farming method is easy at level 34, and is a great way to level a pet who needs it. I have seen players level 30-60 out there farming,
And except for the occasional ninja who steals your trap while you are fighting a mob, everyone is pretty good about sharing.

If you're a rogue you can stealth after looting the cages and the mobs won't agro you in time, you can then stealth away to the next one.

Bring a water breathing potion the level 35 ones are cheaper than the level 8 ones.

Below the docks here in Shadowprey Village, I've many shellfish traps. If you're kind enough to do my work and collect me my shellfish, then I'll reward you with something you want... get my drift mon? For every five shellfish you bring me I will give you a fine Bloodbelly fish!
