How to restart this quest? I was finishing it, but when I summoned myzrael to defeat her, she killed me. She was too strong, not bc im low level, but bc i m squishy-class and the quest requires at least 2 ppl. Then, I d to try again but she disappeared and my summon item too. So I can't kill her. I tried to abandon the quest and then restart it, but when a friend tried to share the quest, it says that im already on. Anyway, is there a solution? Ty for replies
P.s. I'm on warmane server

I am a warrior and I had little trouble, they run far away and pull a lot of guys so for me I hit them with hamstring so it slows them down.

If you never PvP, the magic-using kobolds in this cave can demonstrate why warriors aren't too fond of fighting mages.

Watch for patrols. The magic users have both static spawn points where they simply walk around a few steps as well as much longer patrol routes. My level 37 warrior died twice thanks to fighting two frostbolting kobolds.

If you are a miner, also grab all the Lesser Bloodstone Ore you can mine for the "Favor for Krazek" quest (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=627) you will need a lot of 4 for the quest.
I have also made a bit of gold farming this ore and putting lots of 4 in the AH in Booty Bay for 3g a lot.

These Kobolds are in the North East Corner of Arathi and are near the HORDE Outpost Hammerfall. Be on the lookout if your alliance for Gankers. Easy to complete once your there just be aware of your surroundings.

If you are a paladin just use the Seal of Justice throw it befor they run and that will keep them with you and do not pull more kobols its easy.

This quest can be started by finding the Shards of Myzrael at 62,33.

The cave is at Drywhisker Gorge (82,36).

You hand these up at 84,30 inside the cave.

As stated above: The path to the cave starts at 80, 40 and the entrance to the cave is at 81, 36. This quest has a great drop rate. Collect 6 before entering the cave. Once inside you will notice a 3 way fork (check your mini map). The right side will lead to a dead end with a drop off into the middle path but you may find a cest just before the drop. The left path & middle path ways meet a few yards in. If you look up on the left where they meet, you will notice the "Iridescent Shards" on top of a cliff. You will need to continue up the path away from it to the right to reach it. Just follow your mini map and you shouldn't have any trouble. Also found another chest on the way to the Shards. Highest level mob found: 38
Easy to single pull and solo as a 35 Human Mage.

The path to the cave starts at 80,40 and the cave is at 81,36. There's a crystal in the cave that you need to activate which sends you on the next part of the quest.

Once you gather the twelve crystals, there is a large floating crystal on one of the higher paths in the cave. The golden wheel will appear on mouse over. Open it and you've turned in the quest and then can get the next in the string.

Does anyone but me think the programmers watched The Dark Crystal one too many times?

The start Loc is 62,34 in Arathi Highlands.

You need to click on the hugh crystal there to start the quest.

Where you need to go is this: On the way to hammerfall there's a tree to the right of the path. Go right past the tree up a slight incline. There's a bunch of miner guys that you can kill for the emotes. Next, when you're looking for the cave to turn in the quest, you'll see a tree on the mountain near where the first tree was...go behind that tree, and take the path to the left. That'll lead you to the cave.

FYI, The path that leads up the hill to the cave that hides the iridescent shard has a tree at its begining. Look for the tree, follow the path, enter the cave, find the shard. Woot Woot

the cave is hard to fight with a warrior, but the rewards are cool: found couple of Mithril sources and iron an silver.
What are these blood-things for ? any idea ?

only hard part about this quest is getting through the cave. I found it funny that all the people bragging that it is easy at the quest level to solo are jobs that can get in easily (rogues, shamans). So learn2play yourselves and understand that we cant all just waltz on in.

biggest problems: really fast repops, and theres a couple of the blue ones (spellcasters) that march back and forth all over the cave, so frequently its impossible to solo something because you end up having blue ones coming at you (from both sides!)

I must say the path is a little bit hidden and not easy to see but the coordinates are 80.40. I must say the respawn fast and died 1 time because i agroed 2 mages + 1 normale guy i did the quest at lvl 37,

what tree, just kill those Mobs that are around and inside the Cave and collect those 12 pieces of moz. (its not a 100% drop but u'll get eventually) then go inside the cave to <84,31> its a stone u have to talk to...lol

It's fairly good droprate. I almost got 1/2.
The cave isn't hard, I soloe'd it 37 warrior. Died once OUTSIDE the cave (:p) But if you're careful, the rest is piece of cake. Oh, and u must be able to take out 2x38 mobs at the "Crystal" where u deliver the q. It's in the end of the cave (the middle way gives u less fighting). Self healers should be able to do this (yes even 37 pala, which earlyer stated that pala shouldn't do it), cause I remember doing this same quest @ 36 with my pala.

this is the most confusing quest to find ive ever dealt with, these comments did NOT help me, so heres it simplified

You have to kill kolbolds.
its in arathi highlands.
the cords are 77, 41 and its called drywisker gourge.
if you dont have cords, its in the mountains east of hammerfall.
they can also be found scattered along the mountains.
i soloed it as a 35 warrior and didnt die once, but had to run twice when i had a gang up on me.
the drop rate was good, almost great.

I am a 37 warlock and i complet this quest without dieing once... The path up to the cave is 80.40 the cave intrance is at 82.35 the krystal is at 84.30

well go to right lerft of the entrace to Hammerfall is a small hill,cords are 80.40 and go that way killing those littlle annoying things that like to run away in fear,they drop you the Myzrael and keep on walking to the cave that startse at cords 81.36 kill all the way till you get to the princess stone there you return the 12 Myzraels and accept the next q it offers without the fear that you have to return to the cave,cuz you dont have to:P

its really easy if you find someone around that has same q so you have no trouble at all to get inthere;)

the guys out side the cave will also give you the items i got done with this quest in about 20 mins if that and got great xp off of it even there is a place to turn the quest in side the cave but if you dont have all the items then you can always go back to where you got it from.

The spawn rate for these Kobolds is crazy. I did this as a lvl 37 Druid. Luckily, there was a lvl 37 Hunter inside the cave that was nice enough to help. Anyway, having a partner makes this that much easier.

The kobies are in dry whisker gorge north east of hammerfall (very top right corner of the zone) and are level 36-38. The pop rate is fairly fast and like many have pointed out they run when they get to approx 20% health.

I soloed this as a level 34 destruction/affliction lock without dying but I can see how many classes would find this hard to solo. I'd reccomend 2 ppl for safety and bring loads of food and water. I found the shard drop rate to be something like one in every 5-6. Once you have all the shards you will find a large crystal at the end of the cave guarded by 3 mages, two were linked. Active the crystal to progress to the next stage.

Tactic for a lock, pull with a dot, send in voidy, when the mob gets to about 25% drop curse of recklessness to stop it running, burst dps to kill it. It was a fairly mana hungry method but meant I never had to fight more than 2 at once the whole time.

Other classes I'd suggest using a snare or hold back any high damage attacks until the guys are about to run. Its a tedious quest but the xp from the grind made it worth it for me.

the information was very useful... it didnt take very long at all, maybe 30 minutes tops. I soloed this at lvl 35 and im a hunter. the hard part was trying to find the path to the cave.

Thanks to advice above and engineering... It was tricky though, I died right outside the cave because i was taking too long and they started to respawn, so watch out for that,(I was using allot of mana, and I drank after every fight). When fighting them, I would try to save some dps for the last third of the fight to kill them quickly once they ran, also i would hit them with a concussive shot to slow them down. Once inside the cave i released a Compact Harvest Reaper, who helped some with dps. My tiger held agro pretty well (Beast Mastery spec), but about half of his damage was resisted, the Harvest reaper was hitting for full damage I believe (still pretty low, about 40 per hit). Once i made it down the first tunnel, I made a quick left and then went down the small middle tunnel (look at mini map). Straight ahead is the crystal, but it's on a ledge and you cant reach it. I was out of reapers, and i got hit by 4 or 5 of them there. Luckily i died right in front of the ledge. I respawned up on the ledge next to the crystal, and the three lvl 38 casters attacked with frost bolts. I thought the crystal was a channeled opening, because of the wheel icon, but it's not, it's instant. I died wasting time setting frost traps, and trying to rez pet. Next time, I hit my Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt, hit a health pot, threw a big iron bomb (3 second stun) at the 2 close casters, and clicked the stone. You need to click like 3-4 times to complete the quest and get the next quest, so just be ready to click, click, click, (Make sure scrolling quest text is disabled!). Then I jumped down and ran down the small middle hallway, which is a great place to die. You can rez there, with no one around and hearth out (watch out for the pat). WTYM

if you've ready ANY of the above comments you probably have a good idea of where this cave is- personally, I followed the mountainside up until I saw a tree, behind a boulder, that half-hid the valley -ish area that goes to the cave. if you come up the mountains from the south it's hard to miss.

there is a great amount of ore in the cave. if you mine, it's paradise. there were two iron nodes, and two or three mithril nodes when I ran through. also, this is the cave that contains Lesser Bloodstone Ore for the quest in Booty Bay from Krazek.

even if you don't have the quest, you can mine the ore- sell it on the Auction House or go get the quest Krazek's Cookery after the fact, from Corporal Kaleb at the Rebel Camp in Stranglethorn vale.

i soloed this EASILY with my 39 mage (just because I hadn't been in the area previously); if you can kill two 37/38's at a time, you'll have no problem. the only problem you might run into is that all the kobolds seem to flee with about 200-300 hp left. make sure you can either stop them from running, or have a ranged attack handy. personally, i kept Fire Blast (any instant cast would do) until they ran, so they didn't get a chance to find a buddy to aggro me.

don't worry about getting enough of the Motes of Myzrael. by the time you get through the cave to the crystal you need, 12 should drop for you.

Hi all,

I have just completed The Princess Trapped quest, I entered the cave fought my way the the shard and applied the crystals, however the reply came back and said something to the effect of not all the crystals seemed pure (something like that due to aggro I didn't read it properly) It then showed me part two of the quest but the accept button wasn't active. I then looked in my backpack and I only had 9 crystals not the 12 I started with.

I went back out side killed a load more Kobolds but none of them where dropping crystals. I looked at my quest details and it said 12/12 crystals quest complete I tried to drop the quest but when I picked it up again it still said complete. Not sure what I have missed but it must be something, anybody give me a clue as to what Im supposed to do?

Ok. The famous bolder and tree are at 80,40.
The below mentioned 80,6 is incorrect.
From the boulder, follow the path east, turning north/eastish, then north.
It leads to the cave.
Motes drop from kobolds, either outside or in the cave.
After you have 12 motes as drops, you will have to click
on the Iridescent Shards, which are in the back of the cave.
If you start at the boulder you'll find more then enough kobolds
on the way for your motes to drop.

Its not really hard at all.

I'm a level 38 Pally(Alliance), and in fact it was quite fun. Got killer XP from the little guys, and if you use Seal of Justice along with Judgement, they won't have the ability to run away, which makes things a lot easier. I reccomend going in with strength or intellect boosts, and definitely have your devotion aura enabled. Just kill them to your hearts content, get the shards, then walk all the way to the end of the cave to activate them. I'm lvl 38 and got a good 2k xp from completing the quest!

died twice as 37 druid, just got stupid and caught aggro. little hard to find the cave entrance, just stay close to the mountains east of hammerfall, and look for a tree with a boulder in front. path to the cave is behind the tree.

I got the pendant at Centaurs of Gelkis in Desolace and i got 220 exp for turning in quest at the crystal of princess in arathi lol wow 220.. now i need motes of mazaeytashtaga whatchamacallits and it says i gotta go to drywhisker something.. i read the past posts and u guys said its behind hammerfall.. i will check tomarrow for now i needa sleep.. but it says i gotta turn in to this guy i never heard of at this place i never heard of...

Go to the tree east of Hammerfall. Go up the hill to Drywhisker Gorge. Kill Kobolds. you'll find another tree in a gorge. Go straight then left to the cave. Lots more Kobolds. Collect 12 "Motes of Myzrael" from bodies. Go into the cave go left and you'll find a giant shard. apply the Motes.

cmos Location 80,40 for the tree hiding the path to the cave. Go east from tree up path. The tree is located east of the gates of hammerfall, NOT the cave to the north.

All kobolds in the cave also drop the motes (checked this as I was typing this. Diggers and survs drop it along with the plain kobolds on path to cave)

When you have all 12 the crystal is in the cave (follow the path to the left all the way around)

This one is a little more difficult than I expected for a lvl 37 quest. Soloed it with a 35 Tauren Druid. The mobs respawn rather quickly for solo attempts and agro can be very dangerous.

Watch out around the front of the cave. I watched a 38 human rogue run right by two kobolds, attack a third close to the cave, and agro another 3 from the mouth of the cave.

I disagree about keeping to the right in the cave and jumping off the cliff. It's much more comfortable to stick to the left and clear yourself breathing room to pull into rather than dropping down into their midsts. Besides, you don't have to take out the mobs up on that cliff.

The three surveyors at the end are not too difficult as you can pull one and jump behind a wall to break the line of sight then wait for him. The other two are linked as far as I could tell, but use the same pulling method to get in melee quick. Watch out for the roaming surveyor though, it spawns at the crystal and it's not fun to face with 300 hp and mp while waiting for your potions cooldown to finish.

In the end, I got about 2800xp. Hope that helps.

I got the necklace from a creature in stranglethorn vale. You can also start Myzrael's quest just by visiting the crystal, the necklace just gives a small amount of exp (think it was 110).

---EDIT! This is super ghey. I soloed the whole thing, except the pats always seem to come right when I get to the damn Iridescent Shard... I said I loved you blizzard, why did you have to bone me? >.< ---

Done the quest two times now , you can get it by looting the amulet or talking to the crystal shard in arathi highlands. It definately takes some time but if you can manage to get the quest about the Lesser bloodstone ore in Booty bay , thats a 2 in 1. After getting the Myzrael Crystals , you have to talk to the crystal __IN__ the cave of the Whisk kobolds.

So definatly the drop rate is way better inside of the cave then it is on the outside. on the outside the droprate was 1 item per 10 mobs or so.. well that was what it was for me. 80,40 is where u find the pat to the cave..

Head all the way east towards Hammerfall(Horde). To the east of it along the mountains is Drywhisker Gorge. If you're looking at your map you should be almost directly east of where it says Hammerfall.

Around 80.40 is a big rock and tree heading a little northeast will take you up a ramp towards the cave.

Lvls 35 - 37, spaced pretty far apart but they do run. Very decent drop rate almost every one if not every other. Had 6 BEFORE even going into the cave.

Also drops pretty decent amount of silk and between 50c to 2S.

The Kolbolds are east of Hammerfall.
The cords is around 80.6 for the cave. There's a tree with a bolder in front of it near the hills. You will see a narrow path behind it.
The way I was told, when you look at your main map, look at the last L on Hammerfall. You will see the tree if you stand there looking East.

For me, there was a low drop myzrel, but I managed to get atleast 9 before I went into the cave.

If your Alliance, avoid the horde guards from Hammerfall while you head east.
Make sure you're prepared when you enter the cave, because there are Mage Kolbolds and they can really kick some butt when have more then one on you.

Easy as a lock, curse of recklesness prevents opponents from running, which means no adds aside from the possible patrols. I had to fight two at a time only in the very last batch before the stone.

The Drywhiskers are pretty rare but there is a trail identified and hidden by a tree just behind Hamerfall that takes you up the mountain to the Draywhisker cave. The goblins inside the cave don't drop motes but those leading up to it do and are a fair spawn rate for one or perhaps even two players.

When you have all the motes you must enter this cave at the top and go to the Shard down the left passage, fighting through more Drywhiskers as you go. Us the cog on the shard for the next part of the quest.

Well, this part isnt too bad. A 34 Warlock and I(34 Warrior) did it. When you go into the cave for the Irredecent stone or whatever its called.. take the first right. Its a bit easier. When you get to the stone you might wanna just click the stone and get the next part of the quest because there were 3 Surveyors there which own ya pretty quick at this level. We just got the next part and ran as far out as possible, then came back and fought the rest of the way out. Hope it helps

It really isnt that hard to find the cave. If you just walk out the back door of hammerfall turn east and walk you cant miss it. Quit being so needy and find the darn cave for yourselves. Soloed as a lvl 37 Warlock. Girls!

I was doing the Foul Magics quest, and an amulet who's name I have just forgotten dropped off one of the Syndicate Assassins I was killing for bloodstone amulets. It has a required level of 30, and +3 or +4 each to stamina and spirit. When you right click on the amulet, you get a quest called the Crystal in the Mountains, or something like that. The crystal is pretty much due east of Hammerfall, and I had an indicator on my minimap that showed me which direction to go in to find it. Once you find the crystal, you right-click on it and you are given this quest. It's red to me at lvl 31, and when I am able to do it, I will try to post more information.

The tree to find is behind the mountain. Meaning it is not straight in you have to go right till you get behind and you will see the tree. Once you find it you will have to fight your way in. Hope this helps!

The item that begins this quest is a necklace called Pendant of Myzrael, with stats that have already been posted by others. I found it on a random centaur while doing quests in Desolace, and decided to make the trip to Arathi in order to finish it up.

This quest begins one of the most enjoyable chain quest in the game so far culminating in defeating a lvl 50+ elite princess who spawn mad numbers of elementals to her defense. This encounter only occurs after you have defeated the wandering elite gaurdian, 43+ elite, and his gaurds and another 40+elite. Fun times!

I'm generally not dense (I promise) but my fiance and I couldn't figure out how to get to the cave. After reading through this, it finally got through my head that the cave is NOT the cave on the map that is directly north of Hammerfall, which for Alliance players is guarded by a bunch of Horde. That cave is an entrance to a battlefield, which is the counterpart to the one in Refuge Point. For whatever reason, the cave that you have to go to doesn't appear on your map.

To get to it, follow everyone's directions. It's easy to find when you realize that you need to go to 80,20 and follow the hidden path east into the mountains.

Abysmal drop rate! The 1st Mote dropped nearly after 10th cobold. Maybe I'm just superb unlucky today, or it's a bug.

upd. I started doing this quest around 20 min before server restart and immediately after restart the drop rate became normal (around 50%)

after you collect 12 of them, there are 2 mobs protecting it and it's hard to kill them as lvl 36 feral. (They are 2x37 levels and ranged)

Drop rate is pretty bad. Not a lot of mobs in the outside area, recommend going into the cave.

Once in the cave you will have (36) Diggers and (38)Surveyers , sometimes together. Stay left and then the cave curves to the right,and once around the second corner you will see the crystal. Clear the path to it and voila'. I bailed once I could see the crystal the first time as a 35 Priest with marginal gear, multiple mobs was just not going to happen.

Getting the shards is piss easy, but getting to the crystal inside is a bit painful at level 35 mage - The level 38 magic users ignore shields, and break out of sheep so easily.

My name is Myzrael. I am a princess of the earth, and my captors, the giants, have trapped me deep beneath the Arathi Highlands. These crystal shards are the only way I can speak with the surface world.

Please help me. Allies of the giants, the Drywhisker Kobolds, have a shard like this one in their Drywhisker Gorge, to the east. To power the cluster, you must gather Motes of Myzrael from the kobolds and apply them to it.
