Terrage's coords are checked and correct. However i excpected a school of fish, but you just have to fish the plain water untill you catch the required fish. Good luck for catching them fast.

Doesn't matter if you are at the exact coordinates... just have to be in the right area. A funny thing though that you can get more than 1 fish with the same cast when you get the quest fish :D

This quest and it's prerequisites require exactly 225 fishing. The prerequisites only point you to Nat Pagle and they aren't necessary in order to get this quest. With a simple +75 fishing lure and fishing on Terrag's coords (see above) you'll get the fish in around 5 tries.

at 225 and lvl 35 you can get this quest. might be hard to get to some of the places to get those specific fish at lvl 35 though.

What Hacy wrote isnt the whole truth since I had to do over 80 casts to get the Feralas Ahi. I tried several spots and 62,49 seemed to be the one that did the trick although the quest description and Rubinous comment tell that there is no "specific coord" where you should catch the fish.

The other three got caught in 5-10 casts like mentioned above.

Anyway once again, dont forget the +75 fishing lure (especially in Feralas) and good luck.

Try to step in the water and then cast, i had in STV and Swamp the fish in one cast stepping in to the water on the coords Terraq posted. It might be a lucky hit...

Thank you Onrust.... I fished those coords with no luck for 30 minutes with my fishing skill boosted to 325 by my pole with a lure until I stood in the water and got the Ahi within 2 casts. I think there is something to standing at or just inside the waterline.

To get the "Big Iron Fishing Pole" you need to go off the shore of Shadowprey Village in Desolace. Bring some water breath pots or spell or seal form or something and swim around opening the "Shellfish Traps". Chances are you will end up having to fight a 33-34th level crawfish that crawls out of the trap when you open it OR shellfish. A rare drop out of shellfish trap is the +20 pole your after.

Just got mine last night. When I was done I could turn in the shellfish at Shadowprey to complete the repeatable quest 9 (almost 10) times... Takes a little while sometimes.

Note, you can't actually fish these fish until you have the quest. They are *quest items* and show up in your loot along with another fish, on a successful cast.

First, the person above with the short post & easy links - kudos! Anyone should be able to do it from there.

For alliance, here's my suggestion:

From Theramore. fly to Thalanaar. Go to the tloc & grab Ahi.

you can either double back to Thalanaar, and catch the flight to Feathermoon - NOT NIGEL'S! and swim up the coast to the tloc for the Striker OR just run over west & swim up. *If you have a mount or travel form, alternate between running the coast & swimming. There will be fatigue water, but just hug the coast, & you'll be ok

If you don't have a BIFPole yet, after the Striker, swim up & start raiding the shellfish traps by the troll village. The traps are laid out in a sort of double crescent from the troll village, like this:

The traps are on both the 'shelves,' as well as down in the valley between.

If you have swim speed potions, druid water travel form, undying breath, belt of swim speed, etc., it will go easier. The Drysnap Crawlers & Pincers are pretty aggressive, as well. The traps sometimes hold shellfish, sometimes a Drysnap, sometimes vendor crappola, and sometimes a nice magic item (my gf just pulled Stonecloth Gloves & Cuthroat's Mantle of the Owl), and RARELY a BIFP. The area is also a good source of Stranglekelp, as well.

After you get your BIFP, run on up in through Desolace to Nigel's Point, and fly back to Theramore. Boat from Theramore to Menethil. Griffon to SW, then to IF, then to Stranglethorn.

(The fishing Tournament has just been implemented in STV, so you may want to ask if it is going on while you are there - you can fish for the quest & the tourney at the same time)

After getting the Sailfin in STV, griffon from BB to Darkshire, and from Darkshire to Netherguard Keep in the Blasted lands.
From NGK, run up north into the SoS to get the Mahi. Be careful of the Stonard Sentries, Alliance!

Back to Netherguard you go!

(NOTE: if you are higher level, you may already have flight paths to Thorium Point & Morgan's Vigil, which makes things a little easier. But I am guessing most lower 40s won't)

Netherguard to Darkshire, and you can either fly south to BB and take the boat to Ratchet & swim/run down to Theramore, OR head up north through SW & IF to Menethil, and take the boat directly to Theramore. In either case, back to Pat.

If there was a flight path between BB & Netherguard, this would be easier, but alas! no . . .

As for the 'Horde only' pole, it was a BoE before, and would occasionally appear in the Gad AH - but I wouldn't hold my breath for one. The STV Tournament (as of patch 1.07) should have equivalent or better items.

Just too bad that big fish don't show up when held in off hand, and we can't enchant fishing poles with weapon enchants . . .

35 shaman just finished this quest. It is very doable as a 35. The map coords farther up in this thread is very good. The hardest part for me was getting to Nagle. Tried the run from Brackenwall Village along the mtns - aggroed lots of spiders, crocs, slugs, and died a couple times before I made. The second trip followed the road out of Brackenwall, went north to where the road came closest to the water and ran to the coast without any trouble. Then ran south along the coast all the way down to Nagle's island. Only a couple short spots where you have to swim and very few mobs.

Fishing spots
Desolace - right outside Shadowprey village (3 casts)
Feralas - take road west from Camp Majache - just past the bridge over the Vedantis River there is a bank on the right (10 casts)
STV - go up the coast a little ways until it turns into Savage coast, avoid crocs (3 casts)
Swamp of Sorrows - gotta make the run from Stonard to the eastern coasline, stay close to the hills, skirt the spiders (ghost wolf form helped me outrun them) and then turn south at the coast, avoiding the murlocs and crocs. Tooke about 15 minutes worth of casting here for me.

Make sure that after you return to Nagle to complete quest that you fish right there with him until you go from 225 to 226 skill (about 7 casts), Then you can stone out.

Requirements for this quest are now as follows 225/225 fishing skills and player level 35.
Cords are as follows:
( I didn't write down names of fish only cords where I found the 4~ sorry) You need 1 of each fish for Quest.

Nat Pagle is at -58,59

For those of you who don't use Coords, here's a simple way to do this quest:

First you should know that to get this quest the minimum requirements is to be level 35 and at a fishing skill of 225.

Second after you are 35 with skill 225 all you have to do is go to Nat Pagle in Dustwallow marsh, hes on a small island west of Theramore Isle.

Third all you need to do to catch these fish is have the name of where they mention in the quest above your minimap, anywhere inside that area is fine to catch them.

Now for the quest:

Savage Coast Blue Sailfin - This fish needs to be caught in Stranglethorn Vale. Now there are two places one is called SOUTHERN Savage Coast, and the other is just Savage Coast, you must be at Savage Coast to catch this fish and that is near the Grom'gol base camp (which is horde Ugh. lol) After you catch that fish Run up to darkshire and follow the road that takes you east out of town and head east through Deadwind Pass following the road to Swamp of Sorrows.

Misty Reed Mahi Mahi - This one is in Swamp of Sorrows (which is East of Darkshire). It's at the very south eastern most part of the zone past the Sunken Temple of Attal'Hakkar and threw some lvl 45+ dragonkin. Now when you get all the way over here i went out into the water at the South West part and there are three islands, one of which you still stay in the Misty Reed and can fish off of without Murlocs trying to pester you. The other two islands however are just barely out of the area so make sure you are still in Misty Reed or you'll never see that fish. From here you can either die and spirit res at Graveyard near stoneard or walk here then walk south into Blasted lands where alliance can fly from Nethergarde Keep (Northeast part of map) up to Menethil harbor to venture to the other continent. Take the boat over to Theramore Isle, Dustwallow Marsh, then fly to Desolace.

Sar'theris Striker - This fish is in Desolace near another horde town called Shadowprey village and it's pretty far south near the zone to Feralas and west of the Gelkis clan over on that coast. After you catch this fish back track a lil past Gelkis clan area and follow the road that takes you South into Feralas.

Feralas Ahi - there's a Horde town (lol horde must really like fishing or something) in the middle of Feralas which has a river running along side of it, thats Verdantis River and since i'm Alliance i just went a little way downstream and caught it.

After you've done all that head to whichever Flight path you think is closest there is one to the east of you and to the west of you in Feralas, I went to Feathermoon Stronghold and flew back to Dustwallow Marsh, Where i went and saw Nat Pagle and completed the quest. Now i can sit back and fish all the way to 300.

Note that the Verdantis river, where you catch the Feralas Ahi, is NOT the river that runs through the Horde encampment. It's the one that crosses the road midway between Camp Mojache and the west coast.

Just completed getting the fish in 30 minutes, using the co-rds advised in previous posts. All dropped in under 10 castings for each fish.

26, 76 = Desolace

62,51 = Feralas

80, 94 = Swamp of Sorrows.

Most of this is stated above, but in summary:

Must be level 35 or higher with 225/225 fishing skill before the quest becomes available (used to require level 40, that was changed many patches ago.)

You can't catch any of the fish UNLESS you have the quest, they don't show up if you aren't on the quest. They also are not tradeable, shareable or sellable in the AH, you have to personally catch them with the character who is on the quest.

Reading the quest it tells you where to catch each fish, you HAVE TO be at the place described to catch that fish:

-"Misty Reed Mahi Mahi from the Misty Reed Strand in the Swamp of Sorrows." (if it doesn't say "Misty Reed Strand" on your minimap you won't catch a Mahi Mahi)

-"A Sar'theris Striker from the Sar'theris Strand in Desolace." (if it doesn't say "Sar'theris Strand" on your minimap you won't catch a Striker)

-"Feralas Ahi from the Verdantis River of Feralas." (if it doesn't say "Verdantis River" on your minimap you won't catch an Ahi)

-"Savage Coast Blue Sailfin from the Savage Coast of Stranglethorn Vale." (if it doesn't say just "Savage Coast" on your minimap, this means "Southern" savage coast won't work, you won't catch a Blue Sailfin)

When you get the fish they will show up as an ADDITIONAL fish to the one you normally catch, so say you land a Spotted Yellowtail, above it in the loot window will be the quest fish.

*IF* fish are getting away, you need a better pole and/or lure! If you're landing fish every cast, a lure won't help (for example, Misty Reed is fishable with 225+20 skill) *BUT* if you keep seeing "your fish got away" then you should get a lure. With a Big Iron pole, you can get away with Bright Baubles (+75 skill, 10min duration) but if you have a smaller pole, you should probably grab Aquadynamic Fishing Attractors (+100 skill, but only lasts 5min.)

Each fish is catchable within about a dozen casts *as long as fish aren't getting away and you are in the right spot* so if you are catching something each cast and you are in the right spot you will catch the quest fish.

Sar'theris Striker: Just south of Shadowprey Villiage along the shoreline (26, 76). Caught on 6th cast. Used Strong Fishing pole only.

Feralas Ahi: From Feralas take the path straight west ill you get to a bridge jump donm and start fishing (62,51). The Caught it on the 10th cast. Used strong fishing pole plus Bright Baubles.

Mity Reed Mahi Mahi - Head straight east out of Stonard till you get to the beach in Swamp of Sorrows (80, 94). Caught on 4th cast. Used Strong Fishing pole only.

Savage Coast Blue Sailfin - From Grom'Gol base camp head east out of the camp then go straight south (34, 31). Caught on 6th cast. Used Strong Fishing pole only.

I started this at L37 and finished at L38 (got distracted by other quests), with 225 fishing and a +5 pole. I put them in order I did them.

Savage Coast Blue Sailfin: this is important, so hang on, I'm going to yell: IT CAN ALSO BE CAUGHT IN SOUTHERN SAVAGE COAST! Someone said you couldn't, and the rest repeated it without even trying, so I tried it to see for myself, and succeeded on my 4th cast. Started in Booty Bay, swam a very short distance up the west coast til it said "southern savage coast". Easiest. Almost the entire western coast of Stranglethorn Vale will suffice.

Misty Reed Mahi Mahi: this one, the entire east coast of Swamp of Sorrows will work. If you don't want to chance the trek through the zone, you can swim north from Stranglethorn or south from the Wetland's Thandol Span, though both ways, while safer, would take a good long time. 15 casts, attacked by L44 murlocs. Hearthstoned home.

Sar'theris Striker: two sections of the west coast of Desolace will do, possibly the little island in the northwest (you can try for yourself if you're curious). Went Ashenvale -> Stonetalon -> Desolace, also swimable I suppose. 4 casts and moving on.

Feralas Ahi: coastline won't work this time, and there's L48+ MoBs about. Took the road from Desolace, kept an eye out for any MoB that wandered too close. Followed it south, then east when it curved, kept going until "Verdantis River" came up on the screen (the river is green on the mini-map). Took me 17 casts (11 fails, 6 successes). Never attacked. Hearthstone home, fly to Theramore, swim to Nat, and finished.

Final notes:

Southern Savage Coast will work for the sailfin;
if you have the time, you can avoid attacks by swimming to 3 of the spots;
you don't need lures or the +25 pole, although in Feralas it will save you some time fishing (I didn't get any fails on the first 3).

Easy done with lvl 38 Priest. Only difficulty was to get past Fallow Sanctuary in SoS. All 4 fish caught within 1 or 2 casts with Bright Baubles! Description by Caerya was MOST helpful, thanks a lot for that.

Went to Swamp of Sorrows first. Went south of the Murlocs for about 10 casts with normal fishing pole and no bait. Got attacked by a 43 elite Murloc dude. Vanished and went further north above Murlocs. Total casts about 13 and got the item and 4 Firefins.

The post stating that you could walk out of Grom'Gol and start fishing is incorrect. I fished there for several hours before reading subsequent posts suggesting trying area over by the three pirate ships - There is an island that has a single tree on it, face open water and step off island till you see that you are on the "South Savage Coast". Caught quest fish on like third cast here.

Did this quest as a lvl 60 undead rogue on the EU Earthenring server. Took me about 1 hour including flight time. Only used my +25 fishing rod, no special lure.

I just finished this with my 42 human mage. The previous posts were correct. Here is where I did my fishing:
Swamp of Sorrows - 78,5 (very north end of beach) - 8 casts
STV - 35,32 (above the waterfall in the river - not the ocean) - 10 casts
Desolace - 25,77 - 12 casts
Feralas - 62,52 (just off the road a bit - no mobs were here so it was a safe spot to fish although I did need a baubble with my Strong Fishing Pole to prevent fish getting away) - 3 casts (not including 1 that got away).
It was just the travel time that was a bit time consuming. I'm on a Normal server so didn't have to worry about getting attacked by Horde. I was able to avoid mobs in all locations so unless you pull something while travelling, you shouldn't have to worry about fighting. Good luck!

(94,36) the Swamp of Sorrows - 61 casts, 35 minutes.

All done as a lv47 Hunter, with a Dark Iron Fishing Pole & +75 lure. Total fishing skill while doing this quest was 320, including the buffs. Aside from the nightmare in the Swamp of Sorrows (aptly named), easy quest.

Now that I'm über, I'm headed back out to the the Overlook Cliffs in the Hinterlands. The fishing is awesome out there, every cast is a double pull! In 20 minutes, I pulled in 56 catches with only one dead cast:

Well just a small note to those who might be as dimwitted as i =)
regarding the SOS cord... it is 78.5 at the very noth of the beach...
I stupidly enough thought it was meant as 78.50 ( and that the writers of the other posts were just skipped the 0 )

took about 20 mithril head and a deadly wack by somnus for me to go into map and look a little closer... yea i know =S

SoS really ticked my GF off...standing next to me, I got mine in one cast, took her approx. a dozen casts.

Stv, I picked that one up just north of BB while doing the fishing tourney....where the naga's are. Was nowhere near the coords listed here.

I'm a horde player.

I followed the above instructions for coordinates, and except for Feralas, it took me 10-15 minutes in each place. I don't think the coordinates were bad, maybe the quest has just been nerfed to be more challenging. Just thought this would be helpful info for those who don't get the fish in a few casts.

The trainer is on a rock out in the bay(Misty Reed). The fish were easily attained.
Savage Coast--<10 casts from the shore NW of Grom'Gul.
Desolace--<10 casts from the bottom of the hill outside of Shadowprey Village.
Feralas---<10 cast ath the sharp bend in river next to dead tree.(river runs east to west right off the road below Dire Maul.
Swamp of Sorrows--<10 cast from the coastline. I got to the Horde camp, and just ran east.

get the fishing start quest from the fishing guy in the forlon cavern in ironforge... then go see nat... he is on a little island south of theramore... u have to swim it

MAKE SURE U HAVE THE QUEST FISRT AS THE FISH ARE ALL QUEST ITEMS AND WONT DROP UNLESS U HAVE THE QUEST

also it seems to help if u attach a bobber or such to ur fishing pole to get the quest fish faster

longest cast so far has 5 casts and that was in Desolace going to StV for last fish!

At the very north tip of the strand in desolace there is a sunken ship you swim out to it jump on the floating crate then to the ship mast and cast from there and you'll soon have your fish imho. I got it second cast. there is some strange building to the east of this ship site on that part of the coast.

I had no luck inSTV on The Savage Coast until I went just south of the Horde town where the mouth of the river comes out... then it took about 6-8 casts and I got it.

*edit* I was able to find the location later this afternoon. For anyone without coords capability, head west of Camp Mojache and there is a very small "river" just before you get to DM. I caught the fish there on the first cast using a bauble (I wasn't able to catch anything without the bauble).

My knowledge of Feralas is limited and I don't have coordinates. Can someone tell me the general area where I can find the fish by looking at a map? I was fishing in the river-ish thing that runs under the Camp but my fish kept "getting away" - I can only imagine I'm not in the right area.

This is simple, whaver it says to fish ie Savage Coast, is what your minimap has to say where you are fishing. If it insead says: Grol-Grom Basecamp or Southern Savage Coast. You will not catch the quest fish there.

Bobbles: Duh, increasing your fishing gives you a better chance to catch something each time. You have to get something, to also get your quest fish. So if you keep getting "Your fish got away" then use a bobble. Duh.

Coords for Swamp of Sorrrows, 94.36 were good. Had it in 6 casts.

Stranglethorn Vale I had it at 25.19 in 6 casts.

Desolace, it was at 25.78 just south of Shadowprey Village in 1 cast.

Feralas at 62.52 in 1 cast. Next to bridge.

Was alreay at Fishing 225. Used Shiny Baubles.
Had Nat Pagles Extreme Angler FC-5000 from turtle killing quest in Revantusk Village in The Hinterlands.

Very few of these fish took more than a few casts in each locale. The only fish that didn't cooperate very easily was the Feralas one, but with a +75 lure, I had one within 5 minutes. The only bad part about the quest was having to go across the whole world for all 4 fish.

Dunno if anyone else experienced this, but not sure the quest works anymore. Stood for the better part of 3 ½ hours in feralas, on 62,52, trying to catch that godawful fish. After catching 200+ raw redgill, 100 nightfin, 60 oily blackmouth and a couple of other fishes / weird stuff i decided to call it for the day. Will try again soon, but kinda fed up with fishing atm. Anyone got any clues?

As of patch 1.8 this quest (and the Cooking and First Aid quests) can be attained at level 35. Still requires 225 Fishing skill.

Just did this after ages of not getting my skills up!

So first go to the pier in the Valley of Honour in Oggrimar talk to fishing trainer, he Will tell you that you are "too good" (when you are at 225) and this starts a quest to talk to "Pat Nagle"

Pat can be located on an island just South of Theramore (Dustwallow Marsh nearest Town (Horde))

When you find Pat he will send you on a Quest to get 4 rare fish, these can be found in the following areas:

Ferelas Ahi:
When you get off at the flight path go left out of the village staying on the road until you reach a bridge (Just South of Dire Maul), fish here! in the river that runs under the bridge

Mist Reed Mahi Mahi:
Swamp of sorrows, go out from village taking Northen exit and follow path round by mountains to Misty Reed Reef, there are loads of Murkgills there so fish to the left of them and you should be ok

Sartheris Striker:
Shadowprey Village is the nearest Flightpath so go there, i couldnt get this off of the pier so i swam left until my location bar changed to Sartheris Strand and found a spot of land.

Savage Coast Blue Sailfin:
This is the easiest to get, just go to Grol Gom in ST and go outside the village (behind where the Zepplin Lands)and fish!

Note: Before setting off i bought 4 Baubles +75 fishing from on the Pier in the Valley of Honour, i know that some of the fish require this and they are cheap,so i bought 4 and used one in each location to be safe!

I found if u find yourself casting 40 times for one quest try and move your toon a few feet from where you where casting. Try recasting in that new location and the fish should appear. It worked for me when I was having bad luck.

Tips:
- Make sure you are on "The Savage Coast" and not "The Southern Savage Coast".
- All of these places are relatively safe for Alliance players except for Feralas where I got ganked multiple times.
- The catch rate of these fish seem to deviate greatly amoung people, don't give up, you'll catch'em.

I just came back from a break from the game and got my skills up to the 225 mark. So fishing was the first one to do. Im a 35 night elf hunter and found nearly all of these areas unexplored. However, I did manage to get all the fish, after a few deaths along the way (mainly because of my lack of knowledge of the areas).
I got them on first cast except for the Savahe coast which was 3 casts and about 4/5 casts in feralas.
I decided just to gate home to Stormwind and fly to Theramore to complete :)

This is marked as needing a pre req quest. I didnt do it. I just travelled to dustwallow marsh 60,60 to find Nat Pagle and started the quest. I was skill 225 and level 38 at the time. Caught his fish in 12 casts total. 225 skill, +20 skill rod and +100 lures.

I've been going at Sar'theris Strand for about 30 min now (almost 60 fish) with not one striker. I tried the first 30 min with no lure but with +25 pole. The last 30 min I went in with 225+25+100(afa) so it's not a matter of skill..

Just completed the quest as a level 37 Rogue, and in the process discovered that herbalist's Eden, Swamp of Sorrows. The coordinates provided in the posts below were dead on. The SoS was the hardest at my level. I was able to stealth through to the coast with no trouble (and pick up A LOT of herbs along the way!), but the level 41 and 42 crocs were too plentiful for me. I got lucky that one night a level 39 Palladin happened to be there hunting crabs, and we helped each other clear a croc-free zone (Thanks, Corliss!).

I was actually quite surprised how easy the Feralas spot was to get to. Only problem was the three level 42 wolves pacing back and forth right at the coordinates I was needing. However, directly across from that spot was a jutting embankment which I scouted several meters back, and there were no mobs at all to be seen around it, so I fished from here, and in about 15 casts got my Feralas Ahi.

A sidenote: In Namuk's post (which should appear below this one) he states that he finally caught his Ahi after NOT using a fish attractor. When I first started casting at the river, I kept getting bites but then the "Your fish got away" message, so I attached bright baubles (+75) to the rod and started catching Redgill, Sunscale Salmon and Nightfin Snapper, fish I had never seen nor heard of previously. This is also when I caught the quest fish Ahi, so apparently it makes no difference if you're using fishing enhancements or not, and I felt much better to be catching any fish than to keep seeing the "Hey, Dummy, you suck!" message over and over.

Just finished getting a Sar'theris Striker... the fishing location is in the SW portion of the map along the coast. Took 45 casts to catch a striker.
2nd part down... swamp of sorrows... 3 casts for a Misty Reed Mahi Mahi (on the coast).
3rd part down... savage coast... 32 casts for the Savage Coast Blue Sailfin (NW Coast).
Last part done ... by the waterfalls in feralas... 15 casts

I completed this at Level 40 and got 3900 XP for it while it was still red.

All of these can be fished in relatively safe locations once you get there. In Desolace, fish near the Cenarion Circle girls. In Ferelas, right off the road to the north, once you get east of Dire Maul. In the Swamp of Sorrows, I got to the beach north of the Dragonkin island, and stood right by the edge. In Stranglethorn, I walked south along the coast and stopped the minute it said 'Savage Coast' for the region name.

In all cases, I was able to stand there for the full 10 minute bait time and catch what I needed to. The Mahi Mahi took a little over 10 minutes but was still easy with a Fishing of 225 and a +2 rod.

Swimming to Nat Pagle just takes guts. If a thrasher hits you on the way, go full tilt to the nearest island and get out of the water to heal. There are enough stepping stone islands to make it possible.

3900xp at level 40. The only minor annoyance were the crocs on the beach in STV, and the travel time. Other than that, no problem. Didn't even get rolled by Horde (though I shared the Feralas spot with a ? Tauren, guess he was more interested in fishing than squishing)

As Horde, I found it terribly difficult to get down to the coast in Dustwallow. A much easier way is to swim up from Tanaris (Steamwheedle Port). Kind of long, but no distractions & no probs, you come to the Dock and head west to his island (Cosmos 58,60)

If you are lvl 40, w/skill 225, you do not need the pre-requisite quests.

Jesus... you guys are incredibly lucky. I have 225 skill, using a Big Iron Fishing Pole (+20 skill) and Bright Baubles (+70 skill), so I'm at 315. I've been fishing for hours, I've given up on some regions and tried others, I've gone to the specific coordinates mentioned in the posts above and in other coordinates mentioned on thottbot, and I haven't caught jack %^&*. My bags are overflowing with Firefin Snappers, Rockscale Cod, Spotted Yellowtail and many others... but not a single quest fish. I'm starting to think I'm bugged or something.

I definitely have the quest, I'm definitely fishing in the right spots, and I'm definitely not catching what I need to.

Note, Nat Pagle is technically located at 58,59 on a rock in Tidefury Cove, just west off the Theramore Isle dock in Dustwallow Marsh. 60,60 was the wrong rock and not the actual one Nat was standing on. Not that he's that far away, but the technical coords when you're standing on top of Nat is actually 58,59 just so you don't get confused or think he's not there.

you can fish from anywhere in the general area.... anywhere along that river in feras, anywhere in that little shore in desilance, anywhere in the savage cost, ect ect....

this is rather easy... long as you have all the flight paths and a mount you can do this in about an hour

I Feralas, I went up to the northern bend in the river and 1 cast pulled it out (the day before, I fished for over a half hour with no luck).

For the Striker, I stood on the shore just west of Selendra and her group of dryads.

Others below have mentioned this but want to make sure it's one of the newest posts for visibility. Take some lures with you to Verdantis River in Feralas otherwise you'll have a lot of fish getting away from you. I didn't have a lure so it took me over 30 minutes to catch the Feralas Ahi.

In order to get nat pagle to have a quest for you, you must first be at least be level 35 and level 225 fishing. No other quests are related in order to unlock this quest in any other way.

All the coordinates given are not really necessary. I just went to each area, and made sure the name of where I was (text above mini map) matched what the quest said and caught all the fish with no problems. Sometimes I was far away from the coordinates given here. Also I never used a lure, and only failed in one fishing attempt in Feralas. I do however have a Big Iron Fishing Pole which gives me +20, so you might need a minor lure.

You really cant spend your time to find specific location while you're in the right zone to catch one of four tasty fish. All you need is patient and strong fishing pole. GL and follow the advice of Nat Pagle - fishing is a good oportunity to drink. A lot.

I just did this quest at level 35/36. I leveled during my travels during the quest. There were only two difficult parts for me. One, was getting to the quest giver and Swamp of Sorrows. The mobs are dense and red as far as mob levels go. With a creativity and patience anyone eligible for this quest, can do this quest. No need to be pinpointed in a specific spot, just make sure your location bar says the location noted in the quest. Each fish averaged about 10 casts.

Looks like there's a lot of variability in catch rates, and not much you can do to improve it other than make it more likely that every cast is successful.

I almost burned through the effect of two lures catching the Savage Coast Blue Sailfin, but caught the Feralas Ahi on the first cast. I was using the Nat Pagel Extreme Angler rod (+25 fishing) and Night Crawlers as a lure (+75 Fishing). Guess the key is to just never miss a cast, the more hits you get the more likely your quest fish is going to be in there since it's by-catch with some other fish that's normal for the zone you're fishing in.

Desolace -- anywhere on the west coast, doesn't have to be anywhere by Shadowprey Village - 5 catches

STV --- anywhere on west coast, INCLUDING "southern savage coast" right outside of booty bay - that took me 53 catches

Feralas - easy, there's only one small body of water -- 7 catches

Swamp of Sorrows -- anywhere on the coast --- 36 catches

All of these were done obviously at 225 with a +100 lure on --- so "328" fishing

Your itinerary:

Our journey starts in Dustwallow Marsh, where you'll converse with Nat Pagle (58, 60)
You'll continue on gryphon-back towards Talanaar, from there you'll proceed your journey on your mount of choice towards the South of the ancient ruins of Dire Maul (62, 51)
After you catch your first rare fish you'll proceed North, where you'll enter Desolace and catch your second rare fish in the South-West (25, 77). Just completed this at lvl 36 with little trouble (for the most part). Used Nightcrawler lures.

Started at Swamp of Sorrows
Initially on the shore, (very north) after about 20 casts and argo'g crocs, I moved to a small island/rock with no crocs, nailed it on the 2nd cast. Note: I tried to run through the Fallow Sanctuary, and got killed for my sloppiness. Other than that, no issues getting to the sea.

Next the Savage Coast
Quick and easy (thanks to previous post). I just jumped in the Water at Booty Bay, swam to the coast, and found a spot on the shore with no one to argo. Boom, 1st cast.

On to Sar'theris Striker
No trouble getting to the coast. Nailed on the 4th cast.

Last, but not least, Verdantis River
Doing this one give me two bonuses. I was able to complete a lock quest, and snag the flight station at Feathermoon Stronghold. No argo along the way or while fishing. Completed the quest on the 5th cast.

Does anyone else think this is one of the most evil quests in WoW? Bliz must have been having a good laugh when they put this one together.

Let's make them travel all over the world to get to the fishing spots.

Let's make it so they have to be fishing 225 to get the quest to increase their fishing skill to 300.

Let's make them do loads and loads of fishing to catch the ones they want but because they're already capped at skill level 225 DON'T LET THEM GET ANY SKILL POINTS FOR ALL THE FISH THEY HAVE TO CATCH.

I've done this quest probably half dozen times as Horde, never really thought about it. But doing it as Alliance I noticed all the "Fish" locations are right outside of Horde camps. The travel on this quest as Alliance stinks.

Completed this quest today and for some reason it made all my talent points disappear and unlearned my talent skills.
After relogging I got my talent points back so I basically got a free respec.

I went to all the exact coords listed. I tried to stay as close to an Alliance/Neutral FP as possible. But these coords will work for either faction. I only had +75 bait and +20 fishing pole (from opening traps offshore in Desolace)

Feralas, 62:51 - 27 casts
Desolace, 25:38 - 6 casts
Stranglethorn Vale, 26:67 - 8 casts
Swamp of Sorrows, 78:5 - 26 casts

In addition to the quest fish, I also got:
Firefin Snapper x15
Oily Blackmouth x14
Spotted Yellowfin x44
Rockscale Cod x48
Stonescale Eel x2
Winter Squid x5
Raw Glossy Mightfish x6
Raw Nightfin Snapper x3
Raw Sunscale Salmon x1
(I stopped a couple extra places to fish and use up my lures a couple times)

The only thing I can add is that it seems there are schools located at every location indicated on the map. I can confirm that the item will drop while fishing in a school or not

Used Big Iron Fishing Pole with Nightcrawlers, pulled all 4 fishes within 3 casts in each zone. Very easy quest, considering the time consumption required to travel.

If anyone was looking to do this quest on Season of Discovery in Phase 2 like I was, its not yet available. I am level 40 with 225 fishing, next phase though.

Can't say I really enjoy fishin' much. Figure I been at it for a good 20 or 30 years now.

I reckon people are driven to do what they do for different reasons.

Now, I'm not saying you need to fish for 30 years or catch every fish in the sea to become a master fisherman. I reckon you just need to be determined - determined enough to sit on your duff for hours at a time, doin' nothin'.
