I recently 2-manned this quest as a level 27 fury warrior working with a 28 feral druid. The druid started off in cat form, but found it was necessary to switch to bear form early on in the fight due to the amount of damage being dealt to us. He did need to switch to caster form to lay down a few heals during the battle, though if you have a group of 3 or more, healing probably isn't necessary for this fight.

After you place the banner, two Enraged Foulwealds (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/npc=12921) will spawn. If you're on the "totem mound" where you placed the banner they'll attack you, otherwise they'll attack the banner and eventually destroy it if not attacked. After a while (or once the first are dead, I'm not sure), another two will come. Expect a lot of angry bears and no chance to rest!

Eventually Chief Murgut (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/npc=12918) will spawn who, if you've survived so far, shouldn't give you any problems. Have fun :)

Tough quest, don't attempt to solo it imo. Enraged Foulwealds spawn one after another, about 20-25 of them spawn(rough count), level 24-25 mobs, I got through about 12-14 of them soloing as a paladin(great gear) and was level 27. I recommend having at least* a party of two(no lower than 25) and one being healer type. (Also beware of the level 35 elite that wanders through the area.)

soloable as a 29 pally in fair gear (sin'dorei warblade and some teen-level greens). bandage when you shield to conserve mana.

i had to use all of my tricks to survive the full fight...bubble, good use of HoJ, and finally a well-timed LoH before regaining enough mana again to heal.

i think there were four waves of two furbolgs each before murgut came charging in.

Soloable as a 27 druid. Have decent gear, assorted 20's blues. Had to switch out and heal a few times plus use warstomp. Quite a few waves of mobs. Definatly easier with 2 ppl though.

Just got done doing this quest as a 33 Undead Holy Priest, with fair gear and solo. I proceeded in a different light, knowing I would not be able to take on wave after wave of mobs, I took out mobs one at a time to make a path to the mound. Once on top, I took out as many mobs that I could before planting flag. After planting flag I started fight with first wave, killed a few and then used Psychic scream to shew off attackers. Ran up the path to regain health and out of danger, then came back to see the chief trying to take down my flag. Singled him out and fried his butt in the previuos cleared foreground area. Took my totem as the spawnees were coming back to life and ran!!! Mission accomplished.

For those without coordinates, the mound is located in Greenpaw Village. Need a group of 2 or more...Expect hardly anytime to heal and keep an eye on the flag.

make sure not to stand in the middle of the mound when you start the encounter. You will get stuck IN the flag.

Soloed as a level 28 ret spec Pally, but I had to pop Lay on Hands. It's actually a lot of fun to do, keep BoW up, watch your mana, and avoid consecrate spam if you can help it (it's not very efficient). Dance between auras to heal as needed and you're good.

The only problem is that the leggings are just, well... um... well they're great leggings, but they make you look like you just stepped out of a bar in the Castro district of San Francisco.

If you get far enough into the event where Murgut comes out, but you are unseccessful in killing him, you can run back and he will still be there, and you are still able to get his totem.

When I did it with my pal( me 29 priest he 27 mage) We did it fairly easy but the suck part was that he didnt drop any totem and only one of us culd loot him... we did it 2 times no totem!

Actually, Murgut spawns on a timer after you plant the banner. There will *always* be two furbolgs to fight.

My advice, don't kill any of them. If you can cc, do so. if not just bring them to near death and save your mana and use your cooldowns judiciously until Murgut spawns.

Then kill the two quickly, kill Murgut - profits!

Hmm. Tried to solo this as a lvl 33 BE Ret Pally. Could deal with both Enraged Foulwealds easily enough, taking both down with more than three quarters of my health left. However, when both of the mobs aren't being tended to at once, one of them will get a little mischievous and dismantle the banner. Very frustrating!! Did it to me three times the little buggers. I would advise that you do with a friend as once the banner is gone, you have to fly back to Zoram to get another one. I eventually binned this as I have no friends. Sob Sob.

Soloed as a 28 Mage, didn't even need to bandage, just clear the area around the totem mound, keep one permanently sheeped and kite the other, as said above, eventually Murgut will spawn.

Soloed it at 29 lvl affli warlock. I was just putting DoTs on them one by one and at the end when King appeared, i died and used soulstone, then quick feared King. Peace of cake if u know how to play :)

tricky quest, soloed as a 28 ret/holy paladin in 20s greens and blues--did have to blow both bubbles and bandage through them, a health pot, a few stuns, lay on hands when i was oom and near death, and arcane torrent to get some mana back. Used blessing of might to keep dps up, and by the time i was finished with the waves of mobs i had enough time to eat and drink. used a mix of concentration aura and ret aura. used blue lvl 26 boe 1h mace+shield.

This mission is impossible to solo at less than 30th level. You get attacked by at least 8 23-25 mobs, and then the king. Unless you are level 30 or above you have to bring at least one other person.

I tried to solo this as a level 28 shaman and couldn't outlast the assault, there were just too many, you were always fighting at least 2 at a time. I would have needed either another 500 hp or 500 mana to have completed this mission. It lasted so long my 5 minute rockbiter buff dropped.

Edit: Just finished while grouped with a level 26 warrior, never got close to getting killed, so it's actually a fairly easy mission with 2 people; still impossible to solo below 30.

I had a little trouble soloing at 30 as a druid, woulda been ok, but got overconfident and waited too long to pop caster and heal.

Anyway, tried again w/some help, success, looted corpse of the chief and ran (cause all the shamans and ursas popped right then, plus a wandering protector cruising by)...

Many curses ensued when I found that looting the chief wasn't the thing, and many a more followed when I got back to the mound and the totem poofed right before I clicked it

Anyway, be sure to grab his green totem after he's dead, looting him doesn't get you the quest item.

As you go down the path to Greenpaw Village, you'll see a small hill a little to your left with 2 small, open-air, shelters and 2 LARGE Totems around it. This is the Totem Mound. There should be many Fouwlwealds around it. kill them first, plant the flag on the mound and get ready! I just solo'd it with my 30 Shaman. The king got me as I was healing but I high-tailed it back there and he was still waiting for his beating, which I gave him and completed the quest.

Greetings my children,

I just solo'd this quest with my un-twinked (all greens) 27 Priest. This does NOT mean this quest is easy, as I BARELY pulled it off. Here's the deal.

The chords above are right on. (56,63) It's in the Greenpaw village, NE of Mystral Lake, just south of the main road.

There is no "mob" to find, nor anything to click on. When you get to the chords, you'll find a small hill surrounded by mobs.

1. You'll have to kill the mobs first. If you have trouble with these mobs, you'll have trouble with the quest.

2. After all the mobs are dead, stand on that little hill, and right click the banner in your inventory. Make sure you've taken any buff pots, have applied spell buffs, eaten, drank, etc. BEFORE you drop the banner. (do this quickly after killing the mobs, as you don't want respawn during the fight)

3. The SECOND you drop the banner, two mobs will show up. As soon as you kill one, another will come to fill his spot. You will always have two mobs on you.

4. There will be around 8 lvl 24 mobs that will keep coming in that fashion.

5. The last mob to come will be the boss. lvl 26.

6. AFTER THE BOSS DIES, LOOK FOR THE GLOWING GREEN BASKET NEXT TO HIS CORPSE. Right click on it and you'll get your quest item. If you forget to get it, you'll have to do it all over again.

A few posts up, someone noted walking up to the mound and finding the basket without running the quest.. this is because the last person to do it didn't know to loot the basket! :)

As for your level, race, class, etc. Some classes are spec'd to solo, some not. I did this solo with a priest at 27, but it was CLOSE.

As I was fighting the last boss, a dang tree guardian (2 story tall freak of nature) stumbled in and started attacking me. I had to keep dots on the boss, and run around until the giant tree left me alone. Was rather fun, but had I agro'd a single other mob, I wouldn't of been able to do it.

As for other priest who want to solo, you had better have spirit tap (the talent) at 100% or don't bother. That's the only way I survived. Each time I killed a mob, ST gave me back enough mana to reshield and keep the heals coming while I used my wand and SW:P to kill the mobs.

When I was down to the last 24 and the 26 boss, I had to use a fear and bandage, but that worked well. It's a challenge. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

this quest is so easy to do lol. I did it with my lvl 28 belf hunter with no probs at all. Ice trap plus pet holding aggro for one = gg 8 second beat down on one. Rinse and repeat.

As 29 druid I soloed it without trouble. First I cleaned up all the mobs around the mound and then tossed the flag down on top of it. Waited for the mobs to rush me and I rooted one. Killed the chief and just kept killing them one by one without running out and back in. They keep coming until the flag dissapears, when that happens.. I had 2 on me, killed one rooted the other, looted the basket, left.

I had a small glitch when i planted the banner. I somehow got stuck in the banner when I planted it, got in 1st person view, and could only turn to look around. Anyhow, I basically got my 27 mage to become a turret while the 29 Shammy helping me tanked and healed. Did it in one try, wasn't hard in the least bit, at least I don't think it was.

Turned lvl 30 while clearing out the area then soloed with lvl 30 shamen. It's not real hard. Had to burn a healing pot and i used warstomp when the chief was attacking me with two of his buddies. Ran off up a hill and healed once, came back and it was just the chief with no little guys. he wasn't even attacking the totem so i killed him real quick and got out.

soloed it at 29 as a warlock. VW was key, using him to keep mobs off me as much as possible. when he got low on health, sacrificed him, killed a couple more, and re-summoned him before shield ran out. didn't even have to fear the named guy away. i killed him just as the entire mound respawned... thankfully i got a few steps away, far enough to soulstone rez and collect the dropped item.

The third time of trying to solo it I almost did it, the end was in sight, I could see myself scraping through to completion...till I realised that the giant 'Wandering Protector' tree-man had decided to walk through the camp at this crucial moment. He bashed the hell out of me and I just gave up on the quest in disgust, still wondering what the Boorguard Tunic looks like :D

Okay, this is only soloable by classes that can heal themselves. My 27 hunter couldn't do it, despite me dropping a trap to start with, an exploding sheep, various explosive devices, potions, you name it, I tried it.

I'm going to try again in a level or two, because I really want that tunic, and nobody in Ashenvale wants to help.

When you first plant it 2 mobs come and then 1 or 2 mobs every 20-30 seconds. The key is to kill 1 furbolg with mind blast/wand and fear the other. I had a high DPS wand (29.0) which burned them down fast.

Take note that if the furbolgs kill the banner, you fail. Also take note that the Chief does NOT attadck the banner, so you can die if it's down to you and him. The chief comes after 10 or so Furbolgs.

Also, I had too many furbolgs on me at one point and ran until I lost aggro, and they vanished instead of run back to the banner. Might take advantage of that.

If you solo, there will never be more than two at a time that attack you. You just need to make sure that you kill all the mobs around the mound first. I soloed Lvl 30 Druid.

Did this as a lvl 32 Tauren Warrior. I followed the same advice as most people here. Cleared the area around the mound first, meaning much of the close and distantly close Foulweads. Planted the totem, fought as much as I could making sure to attack any of them that were going after the totem. They like to sneak up on ya like that. Didnt matter as long as they were fighting me and not the totem. After a while I used a greater healing potion to regain health and kept going. I used other elixers and potions like armor, trolls blood, ogres stregth, etc. I did die during the encounter but when I came back, all Foulweads were gone, and chief was atop the mound waiting for me. My banner was gone though, but I was still able to kill him and get the totem. Almost pissed me off too, because I was having some serious lag issues, but got it done.

At level 26 I had very little trouble with this quest. The way I completed it solo was:

Arrive at the mound and pull 2 of the furbolgs standing around. After they're dead, go stand on top of the mound, this will pull about 3-4 more. Kill them and drink/eat back to full. I redid my weapon buff and lightning shield and dropped Stoneskin and Healing Stream totems, then planted the flag.

The furbolgs will generally arrive in twos and threes such that you will nearly always be fighting 2 or 3. Save mana by grouping your casts together. Ie. Wait until you're at 20% health and then heal all the way back to full, then refresh lightning shield, drop another totem, whatever you got to do. This minimises the time you spend not regenning mana. By the time the King arrived I mistimed a heal and died, but I was able to return and single pull him with relative ease. The whole quest took me about 15 minutes.

This is one crazy quest, did it was a level 27 Mage with help from a 35 Warlock friend.

First time we tried it was an outright failure due to one of the elite Alliance tree guys somehow aggroing us. I have no idea where he came from.

Second try went a little better, no tree guy this time. Unfortunately near the end of the waves the furbolgs we had cleared began to respawn on us. This added to an already chaotic situation. I died just as the boss popped and I thought "great, now I'll have to start over yet again."

But upon rezzing, I noticed that my Warlock friend had killed the boss before he had to flee and the green glowing basket was sitting there. A quick frost nova on a nearby furbolg and I had enough time to loot it and get the hell outta there.

So it is possible to make it from the graveyard back to the mound without the basket dissapearing.

Does anyone know if there is a level cap on this quest? I tried it a few minutes ago (2:45am, 29 Jan) on my 51 rogue and after I killed Murgut, he was not carrying a totem nor did a chest appear. The banner was still standing on the mound, so I'm not sure what I did worng or if the quest is bugged.

Okay the mound is relatively easy to find - it's a hillock between some totem poles south of the main road SW of Raynewood. It is advisable to have a group of folk to help defeat the forthcoming attack (get 4 lvl 30s together and you should be okay) and before you plant the flag, make sure you've killed off the riffraff around the mound.

Right-click the flag and left-click the mound and the flag will deploy. You then have to kill off all the boars that attack. They're not too tough (at least for lvl 30s). Finally the chief comes along and he must be dispatched too. He will drop a basket and you'll find the totem in there.

By the way, even if you try this quest alone and lose the flag (as I did) you can join a party and still get the totem from the chief's basket (I was thinking I'd have to go back to the quest giver and start from scratch - not the case :))

I found FINDING the totem mound problematic due to obscure directions in the quest description. Once I found it (the mound is between two totem poles just south of Raynewood) and set up my banner it summoned the furbolgs right away. They attack in groups of twos; Chief Murgut appears after about pair 10...

I soloed at level 37 (tauren warrior). One superior healing potion later I was done the quest. Did not use Retaliation...

Okay, I quite enjoyed this quest. Really showed how over powered my lvl 27 Druid is.... I fought first 3 guys off... Came out of Bear Form, Warstomp, healed. back in bear form... killed 4 more guys.... warstomp, healed, back in bear form.... kill the rest and has the boss and one other.... out of bear form... healing pot, big heal... killed the guys took like 3 mins and good xp :)

Tried this quest with 4 shaman, levels 25,30,31,32 and failed - there are at least 4-5 waves of mobs that come at you in groups of 5-6. Unfortunately, this event is scripted like many in the old Everquest where you need the 'holy trinity.' For WoW, this would be 2 warriors or warrior/rogue, priest, backup healer and a DPS class like hunter, warlock or mage.

The mobs come so fast there was no time for any of us 4 shaman to do anything but kill, so DPS is key. Maybe 5 warriors, LOL. By the time you hit the low 30's where you can succeed at this quest, leather classes can go to 1000 Needles and get a better chest piece from the "Wanted - Arnak Grimtotem" quest there.

Level 30 Priest and Level 30 Warrior waltzed in to do this and found the quest problematic. Groups should crowd up on top of each other to avoid pulling extraneous non-quest-related furbolgs who almost-die then baf (bring-a-friend). At one point we had nearly 20 individual furbolgs on us, half of which were baf. No one died. But holy sh-t. :-)

Tried to do this solo with my lvl30 hunter. As soon as you plant the banner you're rushed by two lvl24 Enraged Foulwealds who each have the tank of a prot warrior. Each time you've killed one, another one appears and so on. I'd managed to kill eight, but in the end my health ran out before I'd even seen the boss. Either get a healer to cover you, or a couple of extra damage dealers to split up the aggro.

i soloed this as a lvl 27 warlock. The trick is to kill all the mobs around the mound them keep all the aggro on your pet.

It's actually quite simple to find the mount. Just enter the path leading south from raynewood, and enter greenpaw village. The first camp on your left is the one you need. Kill the mobs, jump on the big rock in the center of the camp and plant the banner by right-clicking :) Happy slaying!

You plant the banner on a mound with 2 totem poles on either side. The mound is down a path just south of the road to Raynewood Retreat. It'll seem like nothing has happened for about 5 minutes, then all hell breaks loose.

I tried to dual this with 2 lvl 29 characters and we were overwhelmed. Did it again with 5 ppl in the 20s, and we did fine. The totem is dropped randomly, and you need to pick it up quickly before it disappears.

Well i'm standing here on a pile of furbolg bodies, they did not destroy the banner, there was no "failed" message, but there's no Murgut. I think this happened the last time I did it too. There must be a time limit.

ok first off go to Splintertree Post then W to the sign post that leads to Raynewood; go just a bit futher to the a road that leads S..you wont see that road on your map..once your at that road look S and you will see the two totems and the mound surrounded by a bunch of Mobs..kill every mob there..OK now for the quest:

THIS IS HARD AND CANT BE SOLOED AT THE LEVEL FOR THE QUEST..at least not anymore

I had to kill 15 Mobs then the King showed up..so get help ..I had a level 49 warlock help after I failed that quest three times.

I have tried this quest twice and failed both times :(
The Mobs respawn uber fast and it feels like Custers last stand! I didn't even have a second to loot anything for the totem as they keep trying to cut down the banner and you have to pull them off. Not sure how long the manner needs to stay up either. I recomend doing this with a partner for sure.

the village is located just north of mystral lake. once you hang the banner mobs will start charging you one, two, or 3 at a time from different directions. the quest was quite easy for a group of 5 around 25ish as the mobs died very quickly. one the boss dies he drops a basket which u open to get the quest item.

soloed it at lvl 28 as a prot pally, no pots, no cooldowns, ended with about half mana. i just kept SoR up and meleed them, if i needed to heal i made sure there was only 1 left and healed twic to get me mostly illed up with health and carried on hitting them, mana mana regen was enough to keep up.

Wait for Cheif to come, hit evasion. Wack him hard and vanish. Sap one, kill 1 and run away. Lose agro. Bandage up, run back and finish whats left. Lewt the basket!

Had a little trouble with this until we figured out how to plant the banner. Just right click on the ground with it on your cursor. The encounter did not start for us until all party members planted their banner.

Our tactics (25 warlock + vw, 25 druid, 25 shammy) - killed all the mobs around the mound and planted our banners. Just killed what spawned in a few minutes - maybe 3-4 plus the Chief. Mopped them up and looted from the basket - look around it will be in that little camp at base of mound.

Not too hard really.

i had the same problem as utterkeys. it just disapeared too fast. I (26 shaman) was assisted with a 30 shaman and we did alright until the kind came with about 4 friends. they killed me and the 30 shaman survived. i got back and was about to get the basket but for some reason more kept on rushing i don't think it was mobs around the mound but it could have been. The basket despawned before i could get it. GAY QUEST don't bother doing it. You can get more exp by just killing stuff and better armor by other quests

I soloed this quest with my 28 lv druid. Actually you only need to survive until the chief appears then even if you die you can always come back and finish the quest. Chief Murgut was level 26, he was easy to defeat. Dropped a Cavalier Two-handed Sword of the Whale (+7 spirit; +7 stamina).

I've done this event twice myself without getting the basket to drop, and assisted another person who'd had it fail for her the first time she killed the chief. I gave up rather than keep on trying to get it to work because I made myself better armor in the meantime.

I solo'd this quest with a 31 lock using voidwalker. I cleared the entire area around the mound before planting the flag, then just used VW as tank...was fairly easy actually - I didn't even have to use any potions. Current spec is full affliction if that helps anyone. I would not recommend trying to solo however as the amount of mobs needed to kill before the boss spawns can be quite overwhelming for most people and most classes. If you can kill fast enough, you might be able to drop combat and drink/eat a bit - but don't hope for a break because they seem to come non-stop. Definetly a 2 or 3 man quest.

Started off by walking SW out of splinter tree post to 56,64 with my lvl 30
undead lock and succubus killed everything around mound placed banner but
only killed 4 foulwealds before my succubus then I were killed used soulstone
rez but too lat 3 foulweald destroyed banner F*%$ this quest and the horse it rode in on.

Just solo'ed it as a 26 paladin (blew all cooldowns and 2 pots).

Chief Murgut didn't drop the totem. I am not a happy camper.

soloed this as a shaman. Got killed when the chief came (3 mobs on me total).Went back and pulled the chief no problem (he was on the mound) and completed the quest.

Really fun and easy quest, solo'd as lvl 27 feral druid... Bear form most of the time, in between the waves of 2 i came out of form and cast Healing touch and Rejuvenation, then back to bear form... had to war stomp and regrowth at the last guy. Took me 5 minutes to complete, not bad for nearly 3k exp.

Just throw knife and run, make them reset again until he spanws, if you're lucky and he spawns while you're out of combat the other 2 will despawn.

Tried and failed to do this quest twice as a 26 hunter. Even after clearing out the whole area around the mound, there were way too many spawns (for the "event" aka quest) and I just kept running out of mana and my pet would die / I would die. If you don't have potions, good luck. Looks like I need to try cheesing with CC as mentioned by previous comments...

Also, if you die or otherwise fail the quest, the banner item is "used" so you have to abandon the quest and run all the way back to the west coast guy and pick it up again to get the banner once more.

This is definitely a difficult quest to solo, but I managed to accomplish it as a level 28 daggers rogue with the help of a greater healing potion and some tricks.

You'll be fighting two Enraged Foulwealds that try to attack the totem, and respawn immediately after being killed, until Chief Murgut spawns after a certain time (I'm fairly certain it's based on time and not kills). this is very overwhelming and doesn't let you have a break to heal or restealth if you simply kill them one by one, but I've found that if you lower one to about 5% and leave it alive while you switch to the second one, you can kill them at the same time and get enough time to leave combat and eat and restealth before the next Enraged Foulwealds will start attacking the totem or aggro you.

That should help you survive until Murgut spawns, who's easy enough to kill when he shows himself, but be careful to not let the Enraged Foulwealds attack the totem for too long while you're recovering. It survived six or so hits when I did it but I never checked how long it can be attacked for before it's destroyed.

All that said, it's easier to just find help with this quest. The armour rewards are great, it shouldn't be hard to find someone else who wants to do it.

Do NOT fail this quest. You have to hoof it (literally for Taurens) all the way back to Zoram Strand to get another banner.

Two stories:

1. Just did it on my mage and with a druid. I kept one add sheeped and he kept the other one rooted the whole time until Murgut shows up. It does take a little longer than you might expect but the strategy does work like a champ. Murgut goes down fast and then we took the other two down. Done.

2. Hilarious bug that can happen and why I never completed this quest on my first character, a hunter. It is possible to impale yourself on the banner when you plant it. That's what happened to me while grouped with two others. I didn't even know what happened as my camera view switched to first person and my view shifted sideways. One of the other guys described it. I was literally impaled on the banner hanging in the air. I was able to send my pet to help them down mobs but could not otherwise fight. When Murgut was dead I was not able to loot because he died too far away. All I could do was hearth and, of course, by the time I got back the totem had despawned.

Easily soloed as a 28 Hunter. Listening to some of the other comments about focusing on holding out rather than killing wave after wave, I began by having pet and I each tank 1 Furbolg, but I didn't attack after gaining the initial aggro. I switched the pet to mine after its got near death, and then realized it was easiest to just have the pet tank both while spamming Mend Pet to keep him topped up. After that, each wave was simply gain aggro on both with pet, spam Mend Pet, and Disengage if needed (only had to it once).

During the third wave of 2, the chief spawned, and I took it out while the pet maintained aggro on the furbolgs. Cleaned up, grabbed the basket, and took off. Hope this helps anyone struggling - shouldn't be much trouble for any hunter who can manage pet aggro decently!

There's a good trick to do this hard quest.

Each time those furbolgs come and attack you, kill 1 and run out to leave combat, run back in and repeat the process until they're all cleared and dead and the boss comes, then kill him and take the totem that he drops (not found from his body but from next to him). This worked for me and they didn't destroy the banner for some reason when i kept resetting combat after killing 1 and then quickly eating to full hp and running back in, I was a lvl 27 arms warrior.

As a Rouge, after the boss spawned, I Vanished and the two adds de-spawned. I had enough time to eat food back to full health, and then attack the boss.

Very difficult to solo, only certain classes can. Recommend bring a 2nd person to help.
The fight goes on for so long with no breaks that the surrounding furbolgs begin respawning just after you finish, that's if you put the banner up quickly after killing them.
Eat or drink any chance you get and try to be efficient with mana.

ps. the banner is a one-time use, so if you tried to solo and failed, you'll have to abandon and get another banner or find a 2nd person to use theirs

Yeah, this is yet another instance of a group quest not being marked as a group quest. Even at level 26 I couldn't solo it; the mobs respawned faster than I could kill them and I had no time to heal.

......however, even after I died and ran back, the banner was still there and Chief Murgut too. So I just rezzed, range pulled him and killed him, and he spawned the little basket to loot the quest item from.

Well okay.

Dunno if anything has changed or not based on earlier comments, but these days on classic HC the waves aren't tied to when you kill each pair of furbolgs, so if you are slow or delay killing them you'll get more than two up at the same time. You can however evade them withing breaking the quest, so if it's getting hairy you might want to aggro a newly spawned on far away and run in the other direction, giving you some time for it to reset while you finish the ones up already.

sod phase 2, did it on warlock lvl 29 solo. they come in two man waves. keep one of them feared. manage mana, there will be constantly two mobs on you. no more, no less. boss is on a timer and appears eventually. make sure to clear the area before placing the banner so feared mobs want aggro more mobs. nonetheless there will be respawn at the end of the fight. after boss appears you can leave the fight. he will be there for some time. so refresh and come back killing one by one

Okay so if you die all is not lost. I got all the way to the chief before i finally dropped (almost got him too). I ran back and rezed and he was still hanging out on mound waiting for me to kill.
