Location: 13:85 (Southern part of Dustbelch Grotto in Badlands)

You kill Greater Rock Elemental's level 42-44 for the quest item and from what I can tell they have a very good drop rating. I killed no more then 10 elementals to complete the quest.

These are pretty popular mobs and they only hang out in a little cove area above the ogres. 13.85 is the correct coordinate pair as well.

Maybe its just me but, the drop rate is horrible. Elemental Earth and Core of Earth out the yin-yang though.

I think that 2,81 is a little better for density of greater earth elementals

Well, at level 41, my Paladin killed two level 43 Greater Earth Elementals while having them both attack me! =)

I had a drop rate of 1/10 so it's not excactly what I would call an easy drop...

I found another spot where theres heaps more elementals. West of Camp Cagg at (3,82) there's a whole gang of em. The droprate was around 1/6.

Good drops on this even with poor rate on bracers, lot of auctionables, elemental earth, deeprock salt, solid stone. overall, totally worth it for me, even though took a long time.

For me, the drop rate was definitely better at 3:77 (west of Cagg). I only got one after 10-12 at 13:88 (south of Cagg). Went to 3:77 and got two in a row and the last two within about 5-8 minutes.

Location 6,73 to 4,81. Mobs are lvl 42-44, drop rate about 70%. Easily soloed as a lvl 43 druid. They are on the hill next to the dustbelch ogres at dustbelch grotto for those without cosmos. Good XP (about 500 each) and the various rocks that drop sell to vendors for good money so a nice, easy, worthwhile quest.

5s 30c for the most expensive of the rocks. Only worth it if you get huge amounts. Which you don't.

coordinate 13, 82 comfirmed.
Did it with my 41 shaman had no problem at all.
If you are 40 just avoid those 44 elementals.
Drop rate's good, about 40%~50%.
Only killed a few and the quest was done.

lol i killed about 8 of them and got the 5 bracers that you need for the quest. cords are 15, 89.
For those without cords: if you look at the map youll need to go all the way to the south west corner to a cave. the caves name is dustbelch grotto. if you look at the big map when you press M, head to the C in dustblech. you should see the entrance to the valley from there

I killed close to 30 of these guys near 16,85 and got one drop. Logged off and back on in same location, killed 5, got 4 more.

Took 4 kills for 2 bracers against lv 42 Stone Elementals (solo lvl 37 Druid, Stamina build). Long hard fight - no attack spells as all resist, just build combo as Cat, Rip then heal. Died then teamed up for other 3. New respect for Druid as played Mage for long time and used to blast'em quick approach.

Drop rate wasn't to bad for me, about 20 kills for all 5.. so 1 every 4

The drop rate is great on loc 15,90. Killed like 9 and got 5 drops. Easy one.

soloed as a lvl 40 shadow preist, very easy, 6 kills to get all 5. coordinates i used were: 10,80

found a whole slough of these guys, lvl 42-44, in a little valley in the SW zone: 13,84

Had some trouble with the 44's but other than that easy.

I think maybe over the past couple patches, they changed the drop rate. I had to kill only 8 of them to get the 5 bracers

Remember, you are looking for "Greater Rock Elemental " Look on the map of the zone to find locations for these ones , IT iS not the raging ones....

I killed at least 50 of these things and still only have 3 of the bindings, lol. Not to mention, Rumbler (45) boss ressed on my head, youch.

It seems the drop rate has changed again, first six kills and nothing, dropped on the 7th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 15th. Ho hum. The 44's have a greater drop rate.
Level 40 feral druid, I used starfire, moonfire then switched to Dire Bear. Faerie Fire was no use as they are immune.
Good mithril nearby as well.

Go for the Greater Rock Elementals to the west of the ogre camp. These ones seem to have a much higher drop rate for no apparent reason.

It only took about 11-12 kills to get the five necessary bracers, a very quick quest, though not neccessarily an easy one.

I did this quest at lvl42 and got 3450XP the drop rate for me sucked. I killed about 40 of them before i got all 5 bracers. The greater rock elements can be found in the mountains/hills behind Dustbelch Grotto. they are level 42-44

Playing Classic WoW? Do yourself a favor and abandon this quest. If the quest areas are not overpopulated with others on the quest, the elementals drop the quest items so scarcely that you'll be wasting more time here than if you do other quests. Unless they change the drop rates, this quest is worse than Goretusk livers. You've been warned.

To get Nifty Stopwatch, you need to complete:

Gyro... What? requires Gyrochronatom.
Coolant Heads Prevail requires Frost Oil.
Study of the Elements: Rock by killing Lesser Rock Elemental for Small Stone Shard.
Study of the Elements: Rock by killing Rock Elemental for Large Stone Slab.
Study of the Elements: Rock by killing Greater Rock Elemental for Bracers of Rock Binding.
This unlocks This Is Going to Be Hard which leads to This Is Going to Be Hard which awards Nifty Stopwatch.

Keep in mind, the quest items drop off of specific mobs, so don't kill the other ones when you're doing each quest.

You can complete the other optional item turn in quests for Lucien Tosselwrench, but this is not necessary to complete the chain:

Liquid Stone requires Healing Potion and Lesser Invisibility Potion.
Stone Is Better than Cloth requires Patterned Bronze Bracers.

Killed 16 before I even got my first binding. This quest really sucks. Especially since it's farmed like crazy at all times of the day/night. This whole chain has sucked. Honestly, not worth it for the trinket, but at this point it's sunk cost fallacy and I can't quit now.

The two first quests were easy compared to the third one. At least here I only had to compete with alliance players, and the drop rate was fairly good.

On the third quest however there were alliance players AND a horde player farming these, and the horde player wouldn't quit ganking me. For all of those earth elementals I killed...felt like 30 at least...I received ONE bracer. ONE BRACER!

<name>, there's one more part I need from the elementals here in the Badlands: the bracers of rock binding from the greater rock elementals. By my calculations, those bracers should be enough to gauge the strength of my own shackles.

My attempts at scrying the greater rock elementals showed a group of them southwest of here, near some ogres if I recall.

Bring me 5 of their bracers just so I have extras. Servo's notorious for misplacing my reagents and research.
