Quest is easy, he roams with a group of 5-6. He will be walking in the back of the group with a lvl 36. The easiest way to kill him is wait for him to get to coords: (42, 51). This way there will be no other adds. Let the group walk by then tag him, no other adds will come but the lvl 36 and Tho'grun. Kill the lvl 36 first then Kill Tho'grun makes fight much easier since the lvl 36 is a caster and hits pretty good.

He does have a midget bodyguard that's 36 right next to him.
What you do is, you use distract, and make sure you ONLY distract him and his little body guard.
While those two are distracted, the other higher levels keep walking.
Instead of having to take down a group of 6 or so, you only have two to fight.
Right before distract is finished, attack him!

I did this at 41, but could be done lower. Hope it helps.

I managed to only distract the Boss, if you wait long enough the midget shaman doesn't aggro either. Atleast, he didnt aggro me (44 rogue)

i just soloed this as a blood elf.

i mana tapped the little ogre (pulled it) and it started shooted lightning, but the only other i got agro from was the named guy who dropped the Q item :)

He wanders counter-clockwise, so if you want to find him as quickly as possible follow the path here: https://www.wowhead.com/classic/npc=2944 going clockwise. As he goes along his entourage will gradually go ahead, so you can catch him and the shaman alone.

its at 62,72 and the named ogre wanders around, its eaiser to just sit and wait at the camp for him to come back then to look for him

Make sure you have Soulstone and Healstone (or potions) before this:

Lurked around Camp Boff (62,72). Killed off the 3 regular ogres, then hung back in the cliffs. They rezzed, I killed 'em again, then hung back. After awhile the Boss appeared along with several guards (4-5?) I sent in my Voidwalker on one of the guards, then I went to work on just the Boss from a safe distance. Dot'd him, and repeatedly Immolated him, which drew him away from the others. Eventually VW dies, then all the others come help the boss. Need to healstone here. Boss dies right before I did, which is fine. Guards went on there way back to camp, I soulstoned right next to boss-corpse, looted the 'sign of the earth', and rode off into the sunset, heheh.

The best tip is dont attack when they are all clumped up...wait till they decide to go for a walk...let them stroll along a bit an they begin to seperate. If you attack from the back of them, you should only have to fight the lvl 37 mystic and the boss which arent that tough. Do watch out for wandering wolves and buzzard that get invovled in all the melee.

This was very easy, i pulled the boss from behind of the group and he came alone :)

He roams with a band of 5 I cleared out the ones at the camp at 62,72 and waiting for them to show, when they turned and left the boss is in the back and was able to pull just him and one other instead of all 5.

Hes lvl 42, rolls with 5-6 other guys, but if you wait and follow them, the boss lingers back enough to pull him with out aggro'n the rest.

Had this problem first time i killed the boss.

You MUST find Camp Boff before killing the boss, otherwise you can't loot him.

The quest was very easy, just do as previous post say, pull boss from behind.

Next parts of the quest line are a different matter though.

i found im heading west twards camp boff he was way behind his men it was to easy

P.S. he starts at camp boff then heads NORTH to Kosh then to Wurg then 2 Boff

Advise to any doing this quest:
Don't attack him in the camp! You'll pull all his guards and quite possibly the other Ogres in the camp. Wait until he starts to move again if he's in the camp, and the guards will go ahead of him. You can drop Tho'Grun without even pulling another guy; easy.

And also, for those using a targeting macro (macro that has /target name, used to find wanderers) or running around using the /target chat command, don't type Tho'Grun because you won't get him. You need to type Boss Tho'Grun :)

Wow!

Could this guy be more of a chump? After reading the posts here I thought there might be a challenge. Talk of sheeping, running, etc...

41 Troll Shammy, hit Tho'grun as he was walking behind his group. The mage came with him. Dropped Tho'grun, then the mage. Was maybe down to 60% health and 40% mana. I'm not even that well equipped either. Whats the challenge here?

I read the quest and it says to get the thing back from Camp Boff. Netguy here provided the loc but you can find it easily while traveling through the badlands. So I waited for a year or two and then they spawned. Not very descriptive this quest it. The wasn't that hard for a lvl 41 lock, but it is hard to seperate him from his group. Lost my patience peeling them one by one and got voidwalker to get their attention while I was smacking from afar. Sacrificed voidwalker and killed the guy, run a bit, came back and collected the prize. Yes it's not so hard but also not that easy.

Really easy quest, just run around from the hill south of the dustbowl and the one on the east. Found him in no time, a Bloodelf pally enarly got him first but i ranged :D Easy kill he does low dps 10/10 quest. Worth your time.

Found at 63,63.. 4 hits as a 48 shaman.. was able to pull solo.

He and his crew spawn at Camp Boff at loc 63,63. They then walk in a clock-wise rotation. See thottbot for the path they walk. They stop for awhile at an ogre camp at around loc 24,52. I was able to kill the boss without having to fight the whole crew. I waited for them to start walking and the Boss lags behind in the back. I fired on him with a gun and just him and a small runt mage came off the pack to attack me. Everyone else kept walking. I soloed the level 41 boss and 42 mage. I am a level 43 hunter.

As a 40ish rogue, I used distract to stop him and separate him from the rest of his party. Easy to take down solo.

To find him, I suggest you mount up and follow his path clockwise. Since he goes counter-clockwise, you're bound to bump into him.

Found him at 31,55.

Pulled him from behind, only he and one other ogre came.

Non-Elite's, easy fight for a 40 Shadowpriest.

Nearly backed up into Zaricotyl.....which would have been nasty, lol.

When I found him he was surrounded by like gazillion ogres so I just sighed and moved on to mining gold veins in the area. I went around the hill and he was there with his whole group. I cast CoA on him and only he came! Even the tiny ogre didnt come at me! So as you may guess it was piece of cake. Soloed as lvl 41 lock.

As above he walks with a crew but frequently lags behind. I sheeped him at lvl 43, soloed the Mage then ran away. Tho'gun runs only as far as the point where he was engaged and so by then the group was not even in sight. Eat and drink to 100% and easy solo if you can stay away from the cats dogs and buzzards.

Soloed him accidentally as a level 39 warlock, without the quest and half down on mana (fear kite on the mage worked wonders). He dropped easily when I got the quest and did it at level 40. Make sure you let the front of the procession pass by before pulling him.

The hardest part about this quest is finding him.

this quest was easy...pulled the boss and he only got 1 other ogre with him ^_^...killed him in less than 20 sec....did this with a lvl 46 hunter...found him att 16.76

I rode around anti-clockwise and found the boss near the forge. As indicated in other posts, you can pull Tho'grun from behind (!) and the other ogres keep on going, leaving you to tackle Tho'grun and his minion. As a lvl 41 priest, I had no trouble taking them both out with plenty of health and mana left :)

I killed him solo at lvl 39 - as a hunter.
The way to do it:

Pet in prowl mode
Aimed shot
Multi
Freeze trap
Run away and take I all over again.

When he finaly made it to me I scattershot him - wingcliped him (to avoid getting hit), ran away while shooting. At the end I hit him once with my Ravager axe (wich triggered it's "chance to hit" - trowing me into a whirlwind of death :P) - and that was the end of him :) - hit did'nt hit me once :D

he walk around 24.54..
he walks with a group.. so get him from the back.. i use a warrior.. so i pull him back.. he bring only 2 ogre to attack u.. soo just attack him with everything you got .. get the item.. then run.. :)

Be careful ! I pulled 6 mobs, but managed to kill the boss with 4 dots and running with a speed potion as a warlock without pet / hardcore challenge. The 5 others came back only after 15sec (speed potion) + 5sec. I was lvl 43.

Looks like there is a patrol of 5 oggres arround the map that will keep patrolling with or without him. If you manage to be at his respawn point (61.67) while the patroll is still away, it will be pretty easy as there is no other mobs next to him. But once the patroll arrives at the specified coords, they will wait there for him to respawn and start moving together.

Descrizione

From the Horde's alliance with the dragon Deathwing during the Second War, we know that two of his lieutenants, Blacklash and Hematus, were imprisoned within Lethlor Ravine far to the east. We must silence our depraved allies of old to restore honor to the Horde!

We hired Tho'grun and his band of ogre mercenaries to help us obtain the Sign of the Earth, a key needed to unlock the drakes' prison. Tho'grun betrayed us though, overwhelming us and taking it for himself. Go to Camp Boff and take it back!
