The Mosshoof Coursers who drop these, are in the northern and southern region of Azshara. Basically just run north from where Ogtinc gives you the quest.

Took me about an hour to get the two (lvl 51). Very helpful to bring a friend as the mobs in this zone are very close together!

For this and the Wave Trasher quest after, go for the higher level mobs. In the case of these, the coursers, focus exclusively on the level 53 coursers. The levels of the coursers are not evenly dispersed. The stretch extending northwest from the blue dragons contains primarily level 52 coursers. You find more concentrated level 53 coursers by heading east or northeast, but watch out for the giants. It will still take a long time, but more like 30 minutes instead of two hours.

The antlers are indeed a very low drop rate but there are about 3 different places to find them. So if you are having problems with the drop rate I suggest moving to a different place and starting to look there. Also don't let the drop rate discourage you from the quest becuase the trinket you can get is an amazing help for any hunter. I am talking about the devilsaur eye. I still use it on my 60 hunter. It helps and after the antlers isn't to hard to get.

I've seen widely differing opinions about this quest. And for my self and the 1 hunter I helped, a big difference in how it played out. I killed nearly 100 mosshoof coursers to get the 2 perfect antlers, lucky for me I skin. 2 days later I helped a friend and he got 2 with 8 kills. So just be patient and make sure you're killing the right coursers, there are others coursers besides the mosshoof in the area.

Really lond quest.
5% drop rate i wouldn't do it in any other case if it wasn't for the Hunter's quest.

The overall Quests rewards are the best for hunters.

Pack some petiance and cofee.

I found a lot of them at 62,18, and no hippogryphs around either.

62,18 was right on. Not that there WEREN'T hippogryphs around, but there pretty good numbers of Mosshoofs. I got my first set of Perfects off a 52 in about the 7th or 8th kill. The second set took another 20-30 kills! But again off a 52. I was killing nothing but 52's and 53's for them. I submitted a screenie of the Mosshoof. Enjoy.

Whoever finishes this in less than 10 minutes consider yourself VERY lucky. For everyone else don't expect this quest to be easy because it's not. I have killed 50+ Mosshoof Coursers and have only received ONE perfect antler. Been going at it for almost an hour now. 20K Experience from this crap....
Really horrible quest.

EDIT: Just finished. 76 Mosshoof Coursers, 30x Experience, 1 Hour and 40 Minutes Later.

This quest took me about half an hour, killed about 10 coursers and got my first antler, and then weaved in and out of the hippogryphs and about 10 more kills later I got the second antler.

This quest isn't bad if you're a skinner =)

killed 32, got 2, and i got 2, also got 2 stacks oh rugged and 1 stack of thick leather.

if you look at the map, the bay looks like a C. If you look at the highest part of the C, they are there.

This was very easy, took me 30 minutes to do. I used melee, pet and ranged. easier then some collecting quests.

After grinding for about two hours, I must've killed a thousand of these damn coursers and got nothing. I even tried the no pet/no melee tactic (the most damage I was able to do before having to use melee was about 40%, so either I'm not a very good hunter, or it can't be done...)

Since I was out of ammo and feeling like it couldn't be done (especially after reading the posts above) called it a night.

The next day I came back and tried again. I starter my timer when I started grinding. I used my pet, melee weapons, everything. I got the first set of perfect antlers at 8 minutes, and the second at 20.

Hang in there, it can be done. Just bring lots of ammo and patience.

Well that was easy. Found perfect antlers at 40,74 and 41,73, killed only 8 Mosshoff Coursers. I listened to the comment to play it l;ike a hunter and used range and then meleed them using all melee spells. Easy as....off to hand it in. Lvl 51

This quest has NOTHING to do with whether or not you use melee, or whether you use only normal shots. It is a simple kill and loot quest. After being unsuccessful for a while, I tried all the suggestions above and noticed no difference, so reverted back to my normal way - using melee and many shots, and eventually got them.

I kiled randomly, and the antlers drop no matter how you kill the deer. But, it really is a relaxing quest, if you enjoy hunting deer. Ted Nugent would really dig this quest!

L50 orc hunter, got one on my 3rd kill...and with that kill was getting hastled by one of the giants so had to kill quick...1 gnomish deathray later..crit for 2560k and it was dead...the perfect hunter...! lol! and the perfect antler!

Level 56 Night Elf Hunter from the EU server Nordrassil.

Please do yourself a favour, and disregard all previous comments and directions.

In the vicinity of 55,25 (that is a little North of the Thalassian Base Camp) not only you will find Mosshoof Coursers in abudance, but most importantly there will be no Elite Level 55 Giants and Elite 52 Dragonkin around, as in Lake Mennar and vicinity.

Had to kill about ten mobs to complete the quest.

How to get to Thalassian Base Camp for those without Cosmos:

Start at Talrendis Pt., follow the road to the Ruins of Eldarath, then turn North until you reach the mountains, and then turn -and proceed- towards the North-East (roughly 45 degree course) until you reach the Timbermaw Hold. Thalassian Base camp, is on an approximate bearing of 75 degrees or East North East of the Timbermaw Hold.

On a side note, Thalassian comes from the Greek word "Thalassa" meaning "Sea".

The drop ist completely random. Stop posting these esoteric approaches like... I bite on my left side of my tongue and drink 5 drops of my own blood and then it drops with a 50% chance when using no melee weapons and holding breath for 35.3 seconds.

Last nite I smoked at least 100 mosshoof geezas but not one crappy antler thing dropped. Well, it's a decent grinding area anyway, a few 60ies farming dreamfoil could gank you as usual but thats no big deal.

If you please just avoid posting how lucky you were, this makes me eat my bow and each of my arrows... one by one.

Oh, did I mention it? Like it was said in Good morning Vietnaaaam... These kind of quests suck the balls of a dead man dry.

I've gotten two level's killing these stupid deer things and I have gotten no antlers. It's starting to get really irritating. I think I might just wait until 60 to do it, that way I can kill the stupid things faster. Killing them now is a waste of time.

The stupid antlers don't drop, and those of you that they did drop for, you've got better luck than I.

Part of the point of this quest is that it can take awhile. When you turn it in, he says flat out that it had to take great patience to get them.

So start slaughtering. It took me about 20 minutes at level 51. If you're weak at melee, simply drop a frost trap, and utilize your "intimidate" and "bestial wrath" spells (if you specced beast mastery). I didn't even need bestial wrath, this was very easy.

I know it can be frustrating, what with our instant gratification culture, but sometimes there's no short cut, and it's just grind, grind, and grind some more.

It took me ages to find out how to get them so i just started mucking around then i thought of killing them b4 they become enraged & i got 1 straight away maybe it was just lucky but try it if ur having problems

I spent ages killing these to no avail. I then used my explosive trap and used feign death and got them instantly. 2 kills 2 antlers yay.

This is one of those quests I feel I could go out on the street to murder someone. Normally I have patience, but this is just silly. Hopelessly annoying to try to avoid the stupid gay deers while putting down traps to get a chance to find a distance to shoot the M.F down. And as people seem to have stated a single hit from it ruins the chance of getting that perfect antler... Impossible?

I'm gonna try scare beast now and see if that could help.

Well, I returned to just trying to grind myself to death on them by killing, I've killed them for two hours soon. Soon I abandon quest, because the rewards aren't really worth this. I might also cancel my WoW subscription in protest to Blizzard for making such a garbage quest.

Wow, after nearly two hours the first god damn perfect antler drops, I don't do any of above told tricks to get them drop and it's just a stupid idiotic quest were you have to kill mobs until you become a gray haired gorilla.

Conclusion: Just kill kill kill, the perfect antlers will drop sooner or later. Or I won't blame you for simply abandoning the quest either, I was nearly doing that also.

Second Perfect Antler dropped 10 minutes after the first one dropped, I did nothing but firing normally. Almost out of ammunition though :-)

The "l33t" tricks mentioned above are of no help. It's only a very bad drop rate in this quest!

I killed about 100+ of the Coursers and no perfect antlers, got all broken. I wondered why so I went to thotbott to figure it out. There was really only one person who had a good strategy.
Believe me this is how it's done. I thought the drop rate really sucked. Spent over an hour wasting my time on these and finally found the solution. So anyways here it is.
Melee, Range whatever you want use your pet it doesn't matter just get the Mosshoof to the point where he enrages, it will say down in the text box and then use Scare Beast, I put my pet on Passive but I don't think it matters, but once he's feared range him and just kill him before the fear is over. It works. Tried it on the next two coursers and perfect antlers dropped both times. The key here is to not let him hit you or your pet when he enrages or his antlers will break. The Quest log even gives you a hint about this so it's not complete BS like some people would think. Ok well good luck to everyone.

First I killed 200 with no antlers, then I did a backflip IRL and it dropped twice in a row.

I found it hard to believe that Blizz would intentionally put anything with THAT bad of a droprate in the game, especially as a normal class quest, so I looked for an answer.

The *way* one hunts is decidedly inconsistent, as is the case with hunters. Some are meleers, some only use ranged, some use guns, some mix it up. This didn't seem like it could be an answer, since Blizzard is pretty consistent in allowing us to play our classes as we wish rather than "the right way is our way" like some MMOs. Next idea...

The idea that enragement had something to do with it was certainly interesting, yet again didn't bear out in posts or practice. People got their drops regardless of the timing of the mob's enrage, and I find no correlation here.

The one consistent thing I noticed on various sites and in tons of posts was "I hunted in place X forever, got nothing, then moved to Y and got both right away." Now here was a theory I could test, and test I did, on 3 different hunters. The results were successful! On my own hunter, I killed Coursers south of the ruins (40,70) for almost an hour and got nothing. Then I rode up north and at 47,26 I met my first Courser, which I killed the exactly same way I had killed all the others down south. The difference was, it dropped a Perfect Courser Antler! I almost fainted for real. heh Then I killed another, and nothing, but the very next one I killed (at 48,19) dropped my 2nd Antlers!

I had looked carefully at each Courser I killed, and there was no difference in markings, antlers, size, or any other distinguishing factor. The method I used was exactly the same, since I was testing, I was very careful to use the same kill technique on all these mobs (mark, then pet atk with all special attacks and growl ON, then CS, then SS, then AS, rinse, repeat till dead).

Thinking it was indeed coincidence, I asked two friends with hunters to try out my theory with me. One of them is level 60 and had never bothered to do the quest, and the other is 53. Both experienced the same success I did using this method. One is a pure meleer and never used ranged, and the other is pure ranged and never melees, so it was perfect for this test. We tried lots of different combos of traps and such at first, and got nothing for at least an hour. Then when we moved to the opposite end of the zone, we got both Antlers within 5 kills.

If I'm not right, it's one heck of a coincidence, and my "scientific method" is flawed. At least using my method, you don't try to only kill them using some silly ass method like standing on your head and only hitting the mob with a puff pastry. You HUNT, what we're supposed to do, and like all good hunters, you move around until you find what you're hunting for. :)

This quest is SO DAMN ANNOYING.

The deers are surrounded by huge ammounts of hippogryphs, spawn rarely, and have tons of people doing the quest too. AAAAAAAAH!

I agree with bbbalson. I was hunting for antlers in the northeast section of the map and got 0 drops after like 50 kills. Then I headed to the southern part of the map and got two antlers in 3 kills.

I am 50 hunter on bloodhoof, (killercuho), me and 48 priest killed 6 guys and got drops. we killed the ones in the south (around 40,70). It is not true that u cant melee or use pet or get hit vs them, i used pet and got hit and only used melee on all of them. good luck

I just did this as a lvl 50 dwarf hunter. The first antler dropped on my 3rd kill, the second one by maybe may 9th or 10th kill. I was in the area around 40,72. I guess it's just random.

Ok, I agree that the south location (35,65-ish, around Peter Galen) is the better choice. After pounding about 80 at the north location with no drops, I decided on a change of scenery. I ran down, and hit my 2 antlers in about 10 kills. The spawn rate is better as well, and the mobs are more concentrated. Plus, IMHO the Mistwing Rogues are much easier to deal with than the Thunderhead Skystormer when ganged up upon. It's a little more hairy to get to, but well worth the trouble. This is now my favorite place for Rugged farming,

Just did this quest myself, and had to comment after reading this. Dropped for me after about 25ish or so kills. I didn't move spots once. Guess what? it could be a low drop rate by program. To believe that moving to a different spot drasticaly increases your odds of getting the drop is ridiculous. You are giving the programmers way to much credit, thinking they change the drop rates on the same mob dependant on what coord they are at. Also, having a couple friends come out and get the same results you did, is not a "Scientific method" by any means. If you were to have 1000 friends come out and test this. That would be a scientific method maybe, but lucklily for your sake you only wasted your time testing with 3 people. Bad drop rates = dumb luck. Hate to break it to ya, but theres nothing scientific to figure out about where is best to hunt them.

I killed 2 of the coursers in the N eastern part of Aszhara and they both dropped the antlers, took my under 5 minutes. Only problem is that the hippogriffs were killing me so that was annoying.

47,19 had a fairly large amount of Coursers per capita. Still took forever but there was 4-5 at a time there, instead of the stragglers I ran across everywhere else

after killing lots of these with no drops, i looked around and found people talking about how to kill them to get them to drop Perfect Courser Antlers. i thought it was a little fishy, but after trying it, i killed 4 to get the two antlers.

send in your pet. keep the coursers focus on them.
only use your ranged weapon.
i also didn't use too many spells, but only used normal ranged attack. i did this initially to make sure i didn't aggro the courser.

not sure if it works or not, but after killing scores of them, i was willing to try anything --and it did seem to work.

notes: didn't have too much trouble @57, but it is tricky to avoid aggro. Just head to the east tip and back and by that time, you should have managed to make about 20 kills. If the antlers will drop for you.. well, that's another story.

I did this for 5 HOURS! Advice- DO NOT kill those up north! Go down south, South eastern area. There are a bunch and it won't be as frustrating.... I got like 8 bars from this god dammit wasted my day.

I just now did this quest and it only took me 2 kills to get the antlers, that's right, the first 2 I killed dropped them! Luckyyyyyyy! I found a group of em around 49,25 and picked off the first 2, and there ya go! good times....but like many of you, i'm going to agree with ya'll when I say I DON'T LIKE AZSHARA AT ALL

I have killed about 30 with no luck up north. I am heading south to try. I looked at the drop rate.
Its at 1.59%
I assume that includes people who do not have the quest, so that lowers the rate. Priests also have a quest to kill these. I'm not sure if anyone else would be up here killing them. So the drop rate IF you have the quest is probably about 5%. That means every 20 kills or so you should get one. Of course with bad luck you could kill 50 and not get a drop!

I was grinding away with no drops. I then relized the Courser was getting enraged right before he died. So i pulled my pet back right before he enranged and killed him from a distance. There for not letting him attack me or my pet. The Next 2 drop the antlers. I hope this helps.

Hey guys! This MAY help...

Running w/ my lev 51 hunter. Like most of u, I killed like 30 of these damn deer w/out a single perfect antler. I tried all three main locations where the coursers are found but nada! Then I re-read the quest. It mentioned that the antlers are damaged by the animal goring it's enemies. So, I tried one with a lot of CC (concusive shot, frost trap, wingclip, etc...) and I got as much DPS on it as I could before it could actually strike me or my cat. My first try, BANG! Perfect antler. I hit a second w/ no luck but on the third, the second perfect antler! Don't know if I'm on to something or if I just got lucky. If you try it and it works, please post and let everyone know! Good hunting.

PS: I dinged 52 while I was finishing the quest! YAY!

I've been hunting them north-east for 3 full hours. Kill so many I lost count. Hell, I made about 50000 XP killing them and that's no joke. NO DROPS AT ALL.

Didn't get even one. Maybe I do it wrong. In the log it says that courser will damage their antlers defending themselves. So I have to kill them while they're like asleep or something ? Excuze me but as a hunter, I don't have any mean of killing a level 53 beast without punching on it with arrows or sword or my pet. So those of you that did get the antlers, you were more lucky than me.

I sepnt at least 1.5 hours grinding these Mosshoof Coursers and all I managed to find is 1 Perfect Courser Antler. I did farm them south of the ruins as most suggested.

Frankly speaking, those who managed to find it within 3-20 kills is insanely lucky but to those that had to grind them for hours at a time, look on the bright side: you get a decent amount of EXP from it.

And if you abandoned the quest, I advise you to go back to it: At least one of the trinkets is worth the constant grinding.

I did what darqueblueknight sugest and bang! got both antler in 3 kill ...I was trying before I kill like 60 of them no drop when I decide to read here and found the post that save the day :)

I followed this guide by players, I went to the south ruins, and killed maybe 30+ coursers and got nothing. I went to the north part where no one gets the drops, I got them in 2 kills. Hope this will help anyone who gets a prob that I had.

Did this frustrating part of the quest this morning. I ran around for quite a while just trying to find any Coursers to kill, even tried some of the coordinates people put here and didn't have the luck they did. I finally got the two antlers in the area of 68, 24. On the run back to Ogtinc I found a little herd of the Coursers at 58, 33 near the Blood Elf Surveyors. So that may be an area to try for someone else.

I found that a trick is that is if you loot before they fall to the ground u have a better chance to get the 2 antlers...

I know no one believes it, but I think it's true that avoid being hit by the courser is the way to go. Got it first drop after not being hit by the courser. I'm not saying you can't get it any other way, I'm saying it will greatly improve your chances.

And I found a use for scare beast. I never used this skill/spell before. Concussive shot/scare beast. (actually I scared before conc), sick pet, all out dps= no hits on me or my pet. perfect antlers.

Was easy once I moved to the right spot.

First I tried North of the ruins where all the hippogryphs are, grinded on them for 3 hours then I moved South of the ruins, where there was practically no mobs 'cept the coursers, got my first antler on the second kill, and my second atler 10 kills later.

Plus I got a nice green drop (Diviner Staff of the Owl) off these guys :D

What I notice was that a few secs after thai fall, there necks flail back as if they were being cracked, so I tried looting them before that happened and got mine. Dunno if that really works, but just what I noticed.

I don't believe in those area-theories or any other things people have suggested. WoW just sometimes does this, first you don't get any antlers for a hour (both south and north) and then you get them both pretty much in a row. Happened to me in many quests and in this one too... Has something to do with first item you get, once you get that you get rest soon too.

I didn't want to waste time with science, so I went straight for the area where Ellenroh and her crew got their drops. I got mine in three kills total. It didn't matter how I killed them, and all three enraged. Go to the 51/31 type area, and be sure to avoid the Timbermaws if they don't like you. They like to knock you off your mount.

Then again, maybe I was insanely lucky?

Goto the south location, the spawn is ok, got my 2 after 20 or so kills. the trick i think is to take ur pet away at 25% of the stags health and kite it using concussive shot etc.

I killed like 100 of them and its south of the ruins and got nothing this is a waist of time what do you get fro the hunters qeust if blizz wants us to play on the game they must atleast not make it drops 0.0% i am tierd from just playing there killing mosshoff stuff for nothing i killed so many i dont eavan get drops from them

Not sure if the drop rate has changed (dramatically) for this but it only took me 4 kills to get the 2 antlers on Thunderhorn(EU). Picked the spot south of the ruins, just be careful of adds.

Some people sound like they're killing Mosshoof Runners instead of Mosshoof COURSERS. The Runners are in north center of the zone; the Coursers are in south central area of Azshara...

I didn't even know I had this quest on, so my loot filter was wacking away at all the perfect atler drops. after about a good 40 or so drops and deletes I was like hrmmm maybe it's worth selling, turned off my loot filter kill just two more deer, got my two antlers and at that point I noticed it was unsellable and actually a quest item, So I went and turned it in. Then the guy told me to go kill threshers... I havn't gotten bored enough to go do it yet... but point blank this quest is uber easy... I mean I was throwing away these antlers... looking at my loot filter now... I got 47 perfect antlers in 1.3 hours Seriously people it's not the fact they don't drop, it's just you all suck at life. : P

As of right now I've spent about four hours total beating these Mosshoof Coursers to death. I've tried everything one can think of: kiting without pet, kiting with pet, pet with melee, pet with range, range without pet, pet without melee, combination of melee and range, and pet solo while I heal. I've tried the north eastern tip of the zone and the southeastern tip of the zone. I've died over 10 times in NE zone too. I've killed over 200 of these and recieved ZERO antlers. I'm coming back to this quest later.

Congrats to those who got theirs on their first 10 kills or 20 kills, you're lucky. Be glad you aren't one of us taht have spent endless hours attempting ot complete this quest...

Here's one thing to consider. I KNOW for a fact I had accepted the quest "Courser Antlers" but when I went back to read the quest text it was missing from my quest list. I went back to Oginc and there was nothing over his head indicating a quest available, but when I right clicked he had the quest there for me to accept. I hadn't even thought of checking to see if the quest was in my list, cause I know I had reviewed the quest text after the time I got it originally, then I went out and killed 100+ Coursers and got nothing. Frustrated I went to read it and it wasn't there. I got both antlers in about 25 kills after I made 100% sure that the quest was in my list. It's possible I was a n00b and didn't accept it originally, I'll concede that. But do yourself a favor and check your list.

As a side note, I think there are far more Coursers south of Eldarath than north of it.

Some people win money in Vegas and some (most)lose. It has more to do with how the chance falls than any particular strategy you use.

I never payed any attention to the enraging at the end and I still got my perfect antlers. It took me about 50 kills for the 2 - which thankfully is about average.

Just kill them wherever you find them and you will be fine.

I spent 45 minutes down south by the lake killing to get the two Perfect Courser Antlers. A friend told me that the strategy was to kite with no pet, but I just used the pet and Ranged/Melee. The first 30 minutes I got nothing, but received the two drops in last 15.

On a lighter note, I got 3 Blue Dragonscales from killing and skinning those Elite Dragonkin down there. Woot for me.

Abandoned, not worth it. Three hours with no drops, killing about 150-200 of them. Good exp if you're rested, but vendor-trash got me only about 1 gold. Avoid this quest and grind better mobs.

I just did this. I swam in from the south til I came to a place where I could get above the rock wall. I came this way because I don't know the zone since I just turned level 50 and I couldn't find a way throught/past the dragons in the southern part. I had tried the north and I felt there were too manay mobs that were too close together. When I took the path throught the cliff wall, there were the coursers. I killed the first one and nothing. I killed the second one and got my first antler. The third one yielded my second antler. I just ran through the mobs back to the road. It was a lot of swimming but it worked out fine. The only problem I had was being attacked in the water by a 55 mob. It was hard to kill and I was lucky. I was more careful of aggro range after that. I hope that helps someone.

Lets clear this up for those who are confused. This quest sucks pure and simple.
People can dress it up how they like using statistics etc but in reality its just bad luck. Got one on the first drop, got the 2nd on the 64th! Its a ^&*!ing joke and the reward? Plain ole xp.

I got both of mine in under 5 kills, there are a number of them between Peter Galen (the master dragonscale leatherworker) and lake mennar. Hope that helps =)

Dont do any of the s..t that people write about, nothing of it works, there are no trick to this, but here is the real thing, how to get this done.

Go to Azshara, kill 100 of them, logout in rage that you dident get any, stop playing for a while, come back, kill a few hundret again, then again just EXIT the game, do not think about it for a good while, then come back again, and think you may have been unlucky the other 2 times, now you stay with it for 200 more kills, but come to the conclusion that the q just plain sux, exit wow, unsub.

Then you just forget about the quest and wow for a good while, but one day you realize you really want to play wow, now you resub, you fire up wow Classic again, well forgotten about the damn quest, and just eager to play, but once you are at the Login Screen and see your hunter, it all comes back to you again, and you think OMFG i never did the quest, why am i even here!
But you just payed for 6 month sub, so you reluctant login and now you get 1 drop after only 400 more kills, and your to far into this to quit now, 6 month sub, 800+ kills in, so you continue for another 5 hours til you get the next drop, and you are so happy and sad at the same time, you start crying and your Wife comes in and ask whats wrong, you tell her, i got it, i just got, i really did it!

Got my first after about 20 kills, second after about 15 more kills. Mix it up with the Legashi for the felcloth and make the grind profitable. Got a quarter of a level of xp just from the kills on this quest.

From my testing, it seemed as though the stag spawns are shared with the Thunderhead Skystormers (hippogryphs), so if you can't find any Mosshoof Coursers try killing some to free up spawn space in the zone, then return back on respawn (I think about 3-5 minutes).

Did this in Classic, took about 30 kills total for the 2 antlers.

I've assumed that this was just a grind for the items and that they would drop at some point before the heat-death of the universe. My hunter is also a skinner / LW, so the leather is great and Azahara is a lovely place to wander around, except of course for those annoying Cliff Jumpers or whatever they're called. On Day 1 of this quest, I killed about 25 Coursers East and Northeast of Lake Mennar with no quest drops. On Day 2, I went out to Ursolan, where I found a group of Coursers at 50.73 29.51. The first antler dropped from my third kill and the second from my fifth.

I have no opinion as to what this means other than maybe this day I was extremely lucky. On the other hand, it's a nice, scenic place to do some farming, so why not? Your mileage may vary.

It's hard to tell which aspect of this quest makes it the more annoying.

A) The scare population of the coursers themselves.
B) The unwillingness of this item to drop.
C) Or the 4000 other area mobs that you have to fight through/dodge while trying to kill these agro deer.

Trying every trick people mentioned had literally 0 effect helping me finish this quest. Got the first one at 12 and then took me 30 more to get the next one.

Reading the comments, I can conclude that there's some people with huge luck, and others for which this quest will be hell. I was one of those who tried, and tried, north, south, whatever, not a single drop after dozens and dozens of stags. Then I read the quest... suggesting that "perfect" meant undamaged... So I thought: "Maybe if I do everything possible to not let the stag gore me a single time, its antlers will be perfect because they didn't touch anything". And believe it or not, I put the ice trap, scare beast, scatter shot, concussive shot, AND IT WORKED. My first pair.

So I decided to repeat, and failed the second one. I saw the comments about the enrage as being the key. On my third attempt some shots missed, so the stag got me, got enraged, so I thought: "Well, this one will fail too..." AND THEY DROPPED. So either this quest is all messed up, or you have to come one day with luck all over you. It seems to work in all sorts of ways. There doesn't seem to be "a method" other than the attitude of the server that day on deciding if it will give the antlers to you or not.

Finished this quest today as a 51 hunter. There is no special trick to get these to drop. I tried the different methods and nothing was working so I just went back to killing them normally. I stayed on the north part of the map the whole time. Killed 25 lvl 52s and 16 lvl 53s. Both antlers dropped in the last 5 or so kills. Got one from a 52 and the other from a 53. I don't think the enrage matters at all.

Guys I suggest you start from /way 35 65
Here you will see many of this Mosshoof Coursers, here I killed 10 mobs and complete quest.
