This bag CAN be pickpocketed. Had to try about 8 Shamans or so before I got it.

I was Unfriendly with Timbermaw when I did the quest. I had to click "At War" in the Rep tab in order to pickpocket, but I didn't lose any rep for taking it.

I had a hard time p/p, I got to close and had to kill em, at 50,25 I had no luck, moved to 44.25 and got it the first try. Turned in at 28.50 and bam... automatic, just go with the flow.

At lvl 50 I ran/stealthed all the way past various Timbermaw mobs (Warriors, Pathfinders etc...) to 45, 21 where I found the Timbermaw Shaman.
Stealthed past all his friends and pickpocketed him, Grabbed the Sealed Azure Bag and Mount-ran back to hand it in.

Took me all of 5 minutes.

there was a rare behind the shaman so i killed it and the 2 denwatchers and the shaman at the "gate".
shouldnt have tho -200 timbermaw rep oops

Just about to do this as I got this quest at lvl 50. I have no rep whatsoever with Timbermaw, I looked in the rep sheet and the only 2 I am hated by are Syndicate and bloodsail, so I am guessing this will be a breeze, I will report back.

Update, 44,26 ther are 3 shamens all queued up to be pickpocketed, now considering you don't get this quest till 50 or that what it says, it wasnt available to me until 50, you should be able to sap then pickpocket up to 10 lvls higher than you, or I can, I have a combat spec rogue with swords and I had no problem at all.

Go to 28,50 and he will port you, then run to 29,40 to turn in.

1. Pickpock some Timbermaw Shamans in Azshara. Found a lot at 45,22. Got mine i after the 6th Shaman.

2. Go to 28,50 a nightelf stands. He will teleport u.

3. U have been teleportet, and then run through the road up to a tower, and inside that u deliver the quest.

Just to let you know that this guy doesn't show up on the map as a yellow dot. he is in the top west side just out side of the ruins of Eldarath next to the mountain.

I got the bag on the first Shaman I looted...and the NE guy that teleports you is just east of the Horde camp with a Flight Master, which is just north of Eldarath...he has a blue question mark above his head...hope that helps a bit...

Okay-- here is a step by step: (friendly for people that don't use coordinates)
First get to Azshara by flying to Astraanar and taking the road east. There is a low-level horde camp on your way...try not to get flagged.

1. Stay on the road through Aszhara, until you run into the Ruins. Head directly north. Pickpocket one of the Timbermaw's at Timbermaw Hold. You will find a small group level 47-49-- those dont have the bag, keep going north and pickpocket the level 50's and up.

2. Head back toward the ruins and locate the NPC that will teleport you...He is south-west of the ruins. He will have a blue question mark above his head.

3. Once you are teleported, head up the road and into the tower. Whala.

Ok....ride down the road towards the Ruins of Eld'aroth. When you get to the ruins, turn left and begin to hug the mountains, still heading northwest. Eventually you will run into Timbermaws. Ignore them. Eventually you will "discover" Timbermaw Hold. It will put a little building on your map. Go to this building, which is the gate to Timbermaw Hold. In front are standing the Shaman, two Denwatchers and a gatekeeper. Stealth around to the Shaman, pick his pocket and get the bag...stealth away, get on your horse and ride off into the sunset....

Well it was driving me nuts. I found the Timbermaw shamans but I couldn't pickpocket or attack them. It seemed like a bug so I put in a help request.

I had been working on my Timbermaw reputation, and was currently unfriendly, 1/3 towards being neutral.

The GM wouldn't tell me anything other than that "they need to be hostile to pickpocket".

That was less than helpful and I had given up on doing the quest.

Later I was playing around on the reputation page, and found that I got a new dialog if I actually clicked on the reputation, and in that dialog there was a checkbox for "At War". I went back and tried checking that, and lo and behold, I could pickpocket the shamans and got the bag on the 1st try. I didn't even lose any reputation, and I unchecked it right after I got the bag.

You'd think the GM could have told me something about the UI. Anyway I hope this helps someone else in the same situation.

i did quest with them before a little so they didnt attack me, then just i put it "At war" and pickpocked, got on my 2nd mob piece of cake!

all u need to do is to find the shamans they are on left side of azshara and up, they are also in bearform. when u got the bag u go to between the place with all the seamonster and mountains the small path thinkit's caleld bear's head. if u see on a podeum a blood elf with a blue question mark talk to her and u'lll be teleportet and u can walk to a tower when ur up there and there he is

I got my at the first try, I found a shaman with two other "guards" at 38.33 by a big stone gate along the mountainwall did only pick pocket .. piece of strawberry cake :)

To find the guy you have to turn the bag in to, just follow the nothermountaline west from from the timbermaw hold. You should at some point meet an elf-guy with a blue questionmark over his head. Speak to him, press "complete quest", and he will teleport you. Now you just have to follow the road to the tower, and then you're there.

The shaman I found were at cosmos 43,18. Got the bag off 4th pickpocket. not as bad as others made it seem.... now to find the archmage.

I've looked and looked for the NPC to turn it in but i cant find it ive died like 3 times trying to find it.

Wow. Got it off the first pocket I picked. :D :D Easy quest, just do what the others have said. Turn At War with the timbermaw on(unless you already are at war) and then pick pocket the shamen.

To get to the archamge, you need to talk to an elf at Coords 28,50.

Many have asked now, so I thought this would help.

I dont really care about my rep with them but i tried killing them like 30 times and no bag,then i pickpocket for awhile and still no bag,how long do you have to wait before u can pickpocket again cuz first time i get cash then second,third,fourth ect. i get nothing.

The Shaman at the Timbermaw hold entrance is not the only Shaman. Look in Ursolan, just to the west at 48,30 is a nice little Timbermaw camp with many Shamans.

This is where I found my Azure bag after wasting 30 min at the Timbermaw hold entrance. Pickpocketed the shaman there a good 4/5 times with no luck.

The quest is fine. The gay is on 28.50 and teleport everyone for free. :) Then you must go up by the road till you find the castle. Go upstairs and there is the archmage. Enjoy!

&*!@ the damn bag I was grinding for 2-3 hours we me and a friend....THEN WE FOUND OUT WE ARE IN A RAID GROUP!... quest ideams dont drop in raid groups...OMG so we leave and re invite and grind 2 more hour still no bag...poop

Very easy quest. Like the others have said, just pick pocket and you'll b fine..had to loot about 15 shammys b4 i found it, and had a few fun run-in's w/ ally's..but all in all very easy.

I picked the pocket on the shaman at the gate but didnt get it, so I went to that other place and picked another guys pocket and found, got aggro though so I didnt get it ^^ But I got again on the next pick pocket.

This leads to another quest that involves killing oozes in NE Azshara to collect some scripts.

That one leads to another to kill Morphaz in ST; rewards are as follows:

I also only found ONE Timbermaw Shaman and he was at the entrance to Timbermaw Hold. He is gaurded by two cronies. If he does not have the bag when you pickpocket him, then someone has beaten you to it. All you need to do is kill him and pickpocket hiim again when he respawns!

The NPC you want to teleport you up near Xylem's area is Sanath Lim-Yo at 28, 50. This is just east of Valormok, the Horde outpost in Azshara. As mentioned previously, he has the blue ? over his head. Link below.

I just pickpocketed Timbermaw Shaman non-stop for 90 minutes or so, got no bag.
Do I need to go on a killing spree? I don't really care about my Timbermaw faction, since I'm not a leatherworker or enchanter.

this doesn't make sense .. I'm told to get good faction with Timbermaws to get through to Winterspring but it tells me I can't pickpocket friendly mobs?

So do I trash this faction just for one quest now or am I missing something?

Got the bag on the first pickpocketed shaman. As mentioned before, set your reputation to at war before pickpocketing - this does not lower reputation.
Also, I was able to start this one without the supposed pre-req.

Ive 1st tried setting to war and pick-pocketing... didi this several times and got nothing but coin from the Shamman. Then i went ahead and took him and his 2 buddies out and still didnt get the bag.. is this a bug or am i doing something wrong... any suggestions?

Chances are you want rep with the timbermaw or will at some point (to get to winterspring, to get some lovely recipes/patterns/etc)... killing them gives you -500 rep... to get that rep back, you litterally have to kill 100 dreadmaw

So if you can avoid killing timbermaw at all costs do so

To finish this quest, go with the first route suggested and pickpocket the shaman. You should be able to find him near the gates of the timbermaw hold... 40, 35 is the area, you have to go to the actual gates. I don't have exact co-ord because I, like you, am lazy.

Anyway, if you aren't hated by the timbermaw, you have to change your status to at war so you can pickpocket them. It doesn't matter what status you have with them, you can always pickpocket and attack by going to war with them. To do this, open your rep screen (hitting the letter u on the keyboard should bring it up unless you've changed your settings). Scroll down to find Timbermaw hold, click on it, and there should be an At War box you can check off. If there aren't swords in there, put them in...

Then go pick pocketting. Tada, done. Easy. Make sure you take at war off so you don't accidently attack them after.

Now, there is a chance someone has already pickpocketed this guy. If so, try to find another shaman. I'm not sure if there are more or not. If you can't find another shaman and you can't wait around for some idiot to kill this guy... well, take the chance and kill him yourself. But don't kill any other timbermaw unless you don't mind farming them for months afterwords :)

I'm hostile with the timbermaw and can't pickpocket. Anyone know how I can get a friendly rep back. I thought I had to kill Deadwood but that is making it worse. Help?

This quest does NOT exist in wow classic. Talked with other rogues. Talked with a GM. This quest is not out yet despite your guide, your addon, or even wow telling you its there. You dont need to be a certain level. It doesnt exist.

Use Pickpocket! Spent hours murdering these poor creatures with no luck what so ever. Pickpocketed once and got it straight away.

If you've been working the Timbermaw rep you need to mark them at "At War" in your rep tab then you can pickpocket them for the bag. Then uncheck the "At War" box and go back to farming rep.

2.) Go east till you see those shamans: Timbermaw Shaman
3.) Go invisible and pickpocket Timbermaw Shaman
(After the 5th I got the Sealed Azure Bag)
4.) Go to the NPC Sanath Lim-yo (28.1 ; 50.1)
5:) Accept the quest A Meeting with the Master
6.) Go west to till you see Thunderhead Patriarch
7.) Kill enough Thunderhead Patriarch so you have 2x Undamaged Hippogryph Feather)
8.) Go back to Sanath Lim-yo and turn in the quest
9.) You are teleported to the top of the mountain
10.) Go straight along the way and go up the tower.
11.) Archmage Xylem is inside this tower. Turn the quest in and accept the next one.

First things first. What I've lost is a small blue bag, the contents of which are a private matter.

Don't bother going after the thieves, because they are already dead. What we do know is the fools couldn't get the bag open. so they sold it to some timbermaw shaman in Azshara as a holy relic. Clever.

I need you to travel to Azshara and retrieve it from the shaman through subtlety... or force. Better luck with the first method, I'd wager. Once acquired, take it to Archmage Xylem.
