Shadows of Doom spawn once you destroy the crystal at the spawn point, doing so by killing the non-elite undead that spawn.

You will find these guys where the attacking flying castles are ... they are part of the groups of Scourge that form the ground assaults. Be careful though ... you have to get through masses of lvl 59/60 shock troops before you get to them. They are lvl 60 Elites who (among other things) make liberal use of Fear ... so if you haven't cleared all the lower level mobs you can get feared into a hugely bad pull situation :)

How to kill them:
1-find a necronic shard (near the flying necropolis)
2-kill LOTS of undeads: this will damage the shard
3-when the shard will have 0 HP, 4 summoner will happear to repair it
4-use 8 Necronic runes to stop the ritual of one of the summoners: this will evoke the Shadow
5-kill the shadow
Tip: As all the mobs, u must be the first one attacking the shadow to complete the quest. So gather a grp of 5 ppl and kill it: prolly the place will be full of players but u and they cant share the killing of a shadow of doom. If u are alone prolly some1 will attack the shadow before u...

the quest is 2 kill it not a drop quest so is it raidable? the necropic runes aren't quest so i raided them and it worked so can some1 find out my realm is new so i can't get a group easly.

The best area for attack at this quest is to go to Blasted Lands u have alot of Shadows standing solo there and doing nothing! With some basic kiting manevars u can kite it to the keep up there and let the guards kill it! Have fun

Me (rogue) + a mage, both with epic mounts soloed most of the scourge areas really easy, including the shadow bosses.

He used his shields and mounted and just ran around all the scourges until all was after him (20+). Then it's time for AoE.

Get of mount. Frost nova. Blink away. I kill mobs who resisted frost (rarely anyone). Blizzard until the mobs can touch him, cone of cold. Frost nova. Blink or run, go blizzard again, now all are about 10%. Spam IAE or something that suits you well. Collect loot.

The bosses we just kited with crippling poison and usual dps. Watch out for their fear and mindflay. They have around 47k health so they take a while to take down. They aint immune to stunlocks btw

I can't seem to find Thomas Helleran anywhere in Light's Hope Chapel. Did he get (re)moved? Or am I just missing something?

heh i kept soloing these with my mage, netting ALOT of corruptor's scourgestones and necrotic runes, even cleared a shard myself one night when noone was around.

i also got this quest twice (yeah i know, bug perhaps?), but was too late turning it in the 2nd time apparently, as the invasion's over and i can't find the questgiver anywhere.

anyone know if they're coming back one day?

these shadows, and there are 5 of them, are 61 elites and hit hellishly hard. this is maybe soloable, but to be safe, I'd bring a party. when the crystal is damaged, 5 of these guys appear around it, they're called engineers, talk to one, he turns into the shadow, they also drop like 30 crystals and a blue undead slaying chestpiece, along with a scourgestone.

Go to a summoning circle and kill a Shadow of Doom, then return to Commander Thomas Helleran at Light's Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands.

Descrizione

After you bring down the defenses of the Scourge summoning circles that have appeared in the zones under attack, you will be able to confront the acolytes who protect them.

In truth, these are not men. They are shadows, some of the Lich King's most frightening creatures. They can be revealed using the necrotic runes they carry, and then destroyed with magic or strength of arms.
