The Cipher of Damnation is an extremely long quest line in Shadowmoon Valley. It is a prerequisite for attunement to The Eye in Tempest Keep and Mount Hyjal in Caverns of time.

At this point, the quests diverge into three separate lines (which can be done in any order) for each of Oronok's three sons who will in turn help you obtain the three Fragments of Damnation.

After completing the quest, you will get a message in the mail from Khadgar. If you go to Shattrath, he will tell you to talk to A'Dal, who unlocks the the three Trials. These are prerequisites for attunement to The Eye in Tempest Keep and Mount Hyjal in Caverns of time.

Opened about 45 chests with no drop, was getting more and more fustrated then I realised I was sitting in a raid group waiting for a karazan run.

Very easy quest. Got a key on my 3rd kill and got the fragment out of the first chest by the entrance.

killed 2 nags and rigth behinde em was a chest....secondt kill got key first chest got fragment so just beline in it then it can happen for you too

Ive easily been here for over an hour trying to get the fragment, maybe Blizzard should consider upping the drops on the keys AND the frag...just an idea.

My first tip to you on this quest: Kill Naga. Gather up about 15-20 keys.
Tip #2: Open boxes. You may still not find this document after 20 boxes, like me, but GL to you.
29th box FTL.

Found chest at 46, 31 killed nearby Naga to get key. There are other chests around but this is the one i found the cipher of damnation 1.

this is by no means a 100%. the key itself has about a 55% drop rate (for me anyway, 9/16 nagas killed dropped it). and the papers took me 9 keys to get. hope you all have better luck than me

you guys say it as if it's the most crucial quest out there.. it's not, it may not be the quickest quest but there are much longer ones, do it and be happy

Crappiest Quest ever 1/7 key drop and 10 chests later no drop thats about 70 kills with no xp ;(

I went to the co-ords posted above and opened the chest being guarded by the 2 coilfang serpents and got it, first time opening that chest

Well.

If you've done this: be glad, and if you havent: just hope.. that your luck isnt as bad as mine.

I always have pretty bad luck in this game. But tonight was ridiculous.

38 chests. Yes. 38. Thats a lot of freaking chests. /sigh, at least I made like 10g at least, just from the cash that dropped.
